DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, remind me not to go down rabbit holes and get only three hours of sleep. That is precisely what happened, and I cannot do that again. I was planning to be in bed by two and yet there the rabbit hole was and there I went, not getting into bed until seven-thirty in the morning and then arising at ten-thirty because I knew it was going to be a busy day as a result of the rabbit hole adventure. I can’t really talk about what the rabbit hole was but will at some point next week. So, at this moment I was as weary as weary can be and then even wearier. Once again, I tried to watch about four movies, none of which stuck. I didn’t listen to music at all. I just went from thing to thing and here I am, sitting like so much fish writing these notes after three hours of sleep and going and doing and doing and going. I’ll keep things brief for that very reason.

Yesterday was a day in which I only had three hours of sleep. Once up, I had a lot of telephonic conversations, after which I did the first of my errands based on the rabbit hole. That took up almost two hours. Then I went to the mail place and picked up one little package, then came home. I thought I had two bagels left for tuna sandwiches again, but I only had one. I made the tuna, had one sandwich and just ate the rest of the tuna sans bread. Then I went and did the second of my errands pertaining to the rabbit hole and that one took about an hour and was not fruitful at all. I came back home and then Grant came over to check out a noise the guest toilet is making. He doesn’t know what’s causing it, so we’ll have the plumber back out to fix it. I told him he’ll be getting the new book tomorrow, just as soon as I’ve completed my once-over, but this one, like last year, should be pretty easy because it’s formatted the way he likes it, and all the indents and em dashes are there. And I know Doug is working on the book cover.

Then it was three more long telephonic conversations pertaining to the rabbit hole, then I sat on my couch like so much fish, trying for a movie watch and failing. After that, it was two more telephonic conversations and that was pretty much that. Oh, I ordered an appetizer from the Cheesecake Factory – their chicken taquitos or something like that – small, not too fattening (it’s on their “skinny” menu) – and since that was a “skinny” item, of course, I ordered a piece of cheesecake – some cherry chocolate thing with whipped cream that I couldn’t finish and which now is causing me some tummy trouble, so I just popped a couple of Pepcids.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, I’ll finish giving the new book the once-over, I’ll eat something fun, I’ll do a few other things, and then I will damn well watch a damn motion picture of some sort and I don’t care who knows it. After that, I can listen and relax.

Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye comes so I’ll be up early, and I’ll do the usual light breakfast thing and then come right back home. Then I’ll start figuring out of the cast we have who’ll be doing what tracks. I’m close to finishing the lyric of a new song, which could go into the second act. It’s funny and fun, but you never know if it will work or not until you try it out. Certainly, I’ll have a chart made for it and we’ll learn it, then decide if it’s yay or nay. We’ll also have a production meeting either tomorrow or Sunday. Then next week is all prep work for starting rehearsals for the show on February 22. I wish we were fully cast, but we’re still lacking four people.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, hopefully pick up packages, finish giving the new book the once-over, eat something fun, do a few other things, and then I can watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player, and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, another opera without words CD, this one on Telarc with Erich Kunzel. Blu-ray, something. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, going down no rabbit holes, just right to bed after posting these here notes.
