THE COMPUTER THAT HAD A MOMENT, A TANTRUM, A HISSY FIT

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, my big boy computer decided to have a moment, a tantrum, a hissy fit. First, my lovely screen background turned black, then came back to its usual rainbow colors. I started getting all kinds of irritating pop-ups asking for passwords, which I ignored, but clearly the computer had gone to loony land and frozen land, so I finally shut it down manually or, in other lingo, manually shut it down. I started it back up, it took quite a while for it to load everything, but it weems to be up and running properly except for it didn’t change weems to seems which seems quite weemy to me. I had to reopen all the Word documents and thank goodness this little moment, tantrum, hissy fit did not happen whilst I was writing. Had THAT happened, this computer would have seen a real moment, tantrum, hissy fit. I don’t enjoy these computer freakouts because they freak ME out. Dear big boy computer: Knock it the HELL off. I’m not listening to music at the moment and at the moment I’m not listening to music, not necessarily in that order. I did watch a motion picture earlier, something called Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. It seemed familiar at times and indeed I saw it back in 2012 on Blu and Ray. Back then, I titled the notes Movie Impossible, and I spoke of this film with great disdain. Nothing has changed much – it’s still terrible for all the reasons I wrote about then. Awful script, a villain with no character at all, and ridiculous action set pieces. The most amazing thing about the film is that it was a huge hit and critics mostly loved it, which just goes to show you that critics these days are real weems.

Yesterday was okay. I got a little over eight hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, and finished entering fixes. I’d noted about thirty things to run by Muse Margaret, which I did. We did some, we didn’t do others. I did have to add about five sentences to one sequence because something was pointed out to me that I hadn’t remembered. I picked up a couple of packages, then got Subway for food. I must say, it really depends on the person making the sandwich because yesterday’s sandwich was terrible. After I ate, I had some telephonic calls, more e-mails to answer, I called AFTRA and they’re sending out a new check, and then I finally sat on my couch like so much fish and finished The Moving Target, which was terrible, and then the even worse Mission: Impossible motion picture. Oh, and I also saw some scans of scenes from a motion picture that’s been restored – I can’t talk about it – mum’s the damn word – but I can only say it looked incredible. One can only hope it will be unleashed to Blu-ray at some point.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll do some writing on the project with David Wechter and perhaps a Zoom session, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages, eat something light and good, give the book another once-over and then I think it can go to Grant Geissman for his lovelier than lovely design. That whole process will take another two to three weeks, then I can get it to the publisher. I’m trying to get the cover design done now and will get it to the people I’d like to blurb it shortly. And then at some point, I suppose I’ll watch, listen, and relax. I just began listening to the marvelous soundtrack to Angel, by Philippe Rombi. Gorgeous.

The rest of the week is more of the same, with a couple of meetings and meals, maybe a quick Zoom casting session, and then doing whatever needs doing, which is a lot o’ stuff.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, do some writing, perhaps have a Zoom session, hopefully pick up some packages, eat, give the book another once-over, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite big slam bang action movies? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping the big boy computer is quite over having a moment, a tantrum, a hissy fit, and the it will change weems to seems so that instead of being unweemly we can be unseemly.
