SUPERNATURAL OVERTONES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, yes, I am sitting here like so much fish, yes, listening to more Orpheus Chamber Orchestra music, namely Richard Strauss’ Divertimento, which is certainly diverting, a diverting divertimento is a lovely diversion when you’re seeking a diverting divertimento diversion whilst writing these here notes. Prior to the diverting divertimento diversion, I began watching yet another limited series, another Danish thing entitled Equinox, starring the actress who starred in the other Danish thing I watched a couple of weeks ago, The Chestnut Man. This one’s got supernatural overtones, but who amongst us doesn’t have a few supernatural overtones every now and then? It’s okay so far – I’m on episode two of six, which is more rewarding than being on episode six of two. What else can I tell you? Well, I can tell you that I did book my flight to Las Vegas, Nevada for next Tuesday. I’ll arrive at noon-thirty and then go to the hotel where the event is happening. I believe I’m the fourth speaker and therefore I’ll speak fourth. After that, I guess I’ll hang out until I leave, which will be around seven o’clock for an eight o’clock flight home. I’m kind of hoping I can coerce someone to take me to the airport and then pick me up – Uber costs will be very high if I have to do that. I have a couple of folks I can ask.

Yesterday was certainly a day. I got close to eight hours of sleep, arising at noon o’clock to greet the day. It’s been really hot here the last few days, so I had to cool the jernt down with the air conditioner. Of course, the batteries in that unit decided to be kaput, but I had triple AAAs here and swapped out the old for the new and then everything was fine and dandy as well as dandy and fine, not necessarily in that order. I had the adventure of trying to book the flight, which I finally had to do on the phone since the airline site was not working properly. Then I went to the mail place and picked up some packages, then came right home. My original plan for food had been a salad from Stanley’s, but I just wasn’t in the mood for such a thing, so instead I ordered from La Fogata – two beef tacos and two chicken taquitos. That all arrived pretty quickly – the tacos were excellently excellent and the taquitos were tasty, too, and the whole thing didn’t exceed seven hundred calories, so that was good. I caught up on a few more things, then sat on my couch like so much fish and watched the first episode of Equinox. After that, I ordered my usual ice cream thing from Cold Stone Creamery – third time in three days, so I’ll definitely be needing a break from that for a couple of weeks, good as it is. So, I probably ended up with about 1300 calories or thereabouts. Then I watched the second episode of Equinox, which took some time as I kept dozing off. I think I began episode three, but just the main title. And the rest you know because you know the rest.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’m thinking either a salad or better yet a sandwich, maybe Jersey Mike’s, maybe Subway. I’ll do whatever needs doing, then I’ll mosey on over to the theater at six-thirty to run the wrestling sequence and get that tightened up and working properly. Then I know several folks coming to the show, so that will be fun. I’ll probably sit with the sound person, but then I might not – we’ll see. I do need to not keep doing that and just trust that the two folks doing it now know the show and what kind of levels I like. Afterwards, if no one wants to go out, I’ll just come home.

Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye will be here bright and early and I’ll probably go have a light breakfast somewhere, like an omelet or something like an omelet. Then I’ll come home at noon and relax until it’s time to join Sami’s mom and her friends at some restaurant. Not sure I’ll actually eat anything, but I suppose a salad might not do much harm. We’ll see how I’m feeling. Sunday, I’ll attend the matinee and then we do a talkback afterwards and I’m really happy I’m not having to rush to the airport as was originally planned for this Vegas thing. The original plan had me selling autographed photos to fans, but the person who arranged all that got way too weird for me and so that’s not happening. Monday, I can relax, then Tuesday I fly to Vegas and return that evening and I will, of course, have a full report for you.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, eat something, run the wrestling sequence and get it tightened up, see the show, and perhaps go out after or just come home. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite Mozart pieces. Oh, wait – It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, the last ten Orpheus Chamber Orchestra CDs. Blu-ray, nothing at the moment. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, happy to note that we all have a few supernatural overtones every now and then.
