TGIF IN ALL ITS MEANINGS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I’ve got breaking news for you – it is Friday or, as the wags say, TGIF. But that could mean many things other than Thank God, It’s Friday. For example, it could mean The Glorious Incredible Face, To Gab is Fun, Terrible Germs in Feet. I could go on, of course, but I shan’t because I have some damn notes to write and write them I shall, come hell or high or even low water. And whilst writing, the moody music of Mr. Dimitri Shostakovich’s first violin concerto is issuing forth on the AudioEngine speakers, conducted by that other Dimitri, Mitropoulos. I still have about twenty CDs to go in this set and what a set it is. Prior to that, I did watch a motion picture on the Flix of Net entitled Heist, a film written and directed by Mr. David Mamet, starring the wonderful Gene Hackman and several Mamet regulars such as wife Rebecca Pidgeon and Ricky Jay. Some of it seemed familiar because I had to imagine I’d seen it at some point and indeed I had, but way back in 2002 a mere three months after this here site came into existence. I enjoyed it back then and enjoyed it equally now. It’s typical Mamet – all about the con. Danny DeVito is also in it, as well as Delroy Lindo. In fact, the only actor I didn’t care for back in 2002 was the guy who played the nephew of Danny DeVito. I didn’t know his name back then – I do now – someone named Sam Rockwell. Anyway, I enjoyed it. Before that, I watched a new documentary called Our Father, about a horrid doctor who used his own sperm to impregnate women who came to him for donor sperm. It began when one of the female kids did a DNA search and found she had six siblings she knew nothing about. It’s a shocking and well done documentary and the number of siblings is now over ninety and still counting. Horrible.

Yesterday was better than the rest of the week, so that was nice. I had a nice telephonic conversation, got nine hours of sleep, and then went to Panda Express for food. Haven’t been there in months. I got the three thing dinner – white rice, two orange chicken and one string bean chicken. I came home and ate it all up – well, only about a third of the rice. It was good and filling. I did a few things on the computer, but of course the day couldn’t go by without some irritating e-mail or other, so I responded to it calmly but strongly because it was filled with nothing but misinformation. People simply hear what they want to hear. Then I had another nice telephonic conversation, then finally sat on my couch like so much fish and watched the two things and the rest you know.

Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll definitely finish liner notes and hopefully get the flyer for the Kritzerland show so I can post that, I’ll ascertain if there’s anything to pick up at the mail place, and then at some point, I’ll watch, listen, and relax.

Not sure what’s what on the weekend, other than finishing choosing songs for the Kritzerland show and getting singers the music. I’m sure I’ll eat, I’m sure I’ll view things, and perhaps I’ll read through the script for the project with David Wechter.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, hopefully get the flyer and post it, finish writing liner notes, ascertain if there’s anything to pick up at the mail place, and then at some point watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Friday – what is currently in your CD player and your DVD/Blu and Ray player? I’ll start – CD, more Dimitri Mitropoulos. Blu-ray, maybe more Studio Ghibli stuff. Your turn. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, hoping for a calm TGIF (Three Girls in France).
