TIME AND I HAVE GOTTEN AWAY FROM EACH OTHER

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, once again time has gotten away from me, or I have gotten away from time and now time and I have gotten away from each other. Therefore, I must write these here notes in a hurry because they should have been up twenty minutes ago. And so, to the strains of Roy Harris’ fifth symphony I write. I didn’t even watch a motion picture or anything else because I nodded off for over an hour and then spent the rest of the evening organizing perk stuff for the Indiegogo campaign, which I’ll start assembling this very morning when I get up. I can say that I’m feeling grosser than gross, having eaten small bags of both Dorito Cool Ranch chips and crunchy Cheetos. That’s enough to make anyone vomit on the ground, but I’m not going to do that because it would be most unseemly. I must say that whatever one thinks of Mr. Roy Harris, he does have a rather singular musical voice that’s quite different from other American composers of that generation. I’m making my way through all his symphonies – I think the only one I’m missing is number four, but I’ll have to check on the Tube of You.

Yesterday was certainly a day. I got about seven hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, set a time to meet up with Marshall Harvey to give him the hard drive with the Indiegogo video and images, moseyed on over to the mail place and picked up the important envelope and a small residual, too, so that was nice. I drove right to the bank and made a deposit, then came home. I did a few things that needed doing and then it was time to mosey on over to a new pasta jernt on Ventura Blvd. near Coldwater in a new little shopping mall where once was the Sportsman’s Lodge. The mall itself is quite ugly – all gray and industrial-looking. The jernt, which Marshall has been to several times, is called Uovo. We shared a little salad that looked like I’d hate it, but it was really good – I ordered the carbonara and Marshall ordered the caccia e pepe. The pasta itself was amazing – hand made in Italy and flown in. I didn’t love the sauce and the portion was very small, so next time I think I’ll try the caccia e pepe, which looked very good.

After food, I stopped at the Ralph’s across the street and got the small bags of chips, some maple syrup, and some frozen waffles. I came home, did a few things, and then made two of the frozen waffles for dessert. Popped ‘em in the toaster and they were really good – a little butter, a lot of syrup and satisfies the sweet tooth. Calorie-wise, the two only come to 180 calories. If I buy some eggs, I could actually be perfectly content to have eggs and bacon and two waffle things and that would all be VERY calorie friendly. Then I did some stuff on the computer, then sat on my couch like so much fish, intending to watch something. As stated, instead I dozed off for over an hour and then it was too late for viewing. And now, I’m listening to Harris’ sixth symphony, entitled Gettysburg. These are very atmospheric symphonies – no real tunes or anything, but I’m enjoying them very much.

Today, I’ll try to be up by eleven, I’ll write the copy for the Indiegogo campaign and begin creating the campaign, for which there are many steps. Marshall will try to have the video done by tomorrow and if that happens, I’ll probably launch the campaign on Thursday morning. The most time-consuming thing is creating the perks – that takes quite a while, especially if there are images to upload. But there’ll be quite a few amazing items, including a couple of really rare signed books that may just be of interest to some. I do have to go into the garage, as I took stuff from the last campaign out there and I’ll need some of it back. So, it will be a full day of that stuff, but I’ll also eat, hopefully pick up packages (the books are supposedly arriving), and then at some point I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow will be more of the same and if the video is ready then Marshall and I will have to connect so I can get the drive back and then I have to upload it to the Tube of You. If all is ready, then we’ll launch it on Thursday and hopefully we’ll have a really great first two or three days to set the tone for the campaign. Then that’s my full-time job for the next four weeks.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, try to be up by eleven, write copy, create perk listings, eat, hopefully pick up packages, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What are your favorite chips? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, finally ready to post these here notes due to time and I having gotten away from each other.
