Well, dear readers, I am sitting here like so much fish having a really irritating haddock – my head is throbbing – and nausea and I’m overtired and just want to feel normal again. I’m going to have to seriously think about giving up certain foods – ice cream being one of them – because the tummy is revolting against certain foods and I’m just tired of feeling weird. Of course, like clockwork every two weeks the computer froze, and I had to reboot. I was in the middle of working on the web series episodes, but thankfully I didn’t lose anything. Now, I’m listening to the lovely music of Lucijan Skerjanc, a fine and mostly unknown Slovenian composer of classical music. Very tuneful symphonies and very enjoyable. I also managed to watch a motion picture on the Flix of Net from 2016. I’d never even heard of it – it’s one of those mismatched buddy pictures, this set in 1977’s Los Angeles. Writer/director Shane Black (Lethal Weapon) wouldn’t know how to shoot a period piece in LA if his life depended on it. Of course, most of the film was shot in Atlanta, so there’s that. It’s about an inept private eye played by Ryan Gosling and a guy who beats people up for money played by Russell Crowe. It is mind-boggling that this piece of dreck has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – so-called critics are really morons these days. Only a couple of critics called it as it should have been called – an inept, unfunny, lumbering thing. Mr. Black is clearly hoping for another franchise like Lethal Weapon, but this is just populated by such stupid characters and attempts at humor and then suddenly he wants to throw in a scene that’s got heart or he thinks is moving – but you can’t take one word of it seriously. There is one moment in this film where I just sat there in astonishment at what I was watching – where Ryan Gosling finds himself sitting next to a dead body and he tries to get Crowe’s attention but can’t get any sound to come out of his mouth – if that sounds like an old Lou Costello gag when he’d see a monster or bad guy, that’s exactly what it is. I couldn’t believe it. And the Wikipedia page is almost as hilariously awful as the film, clearly written by someone connected with the film, who acts like the worldwide gross of $60-million bucks is somehow good on a budget of $50 million. No, not good. Not only not good, but a complete loser, earning not one penny. So, no, idiot who wrote the Wikipedia article, you don’t get to pretend that’s somehow a good gross. Obviously, being a complete financial fiasco, no franchise happened, and we can all thank our lucky stars for THAT.
Yesterday was a day. I have no idea of how much sleep I did or didn’t get but it wasn’t enough. I’d eaten some ice cream as a treat, and I knew I shouldn’t have, and it kept me up for a lot of the night. I know I fell asleep around seven and slept till one, but with a lot of waking up. Once up, I answered e-mails and had a long telephonic conversation regarding the web series, scheduling, and what needs to get done and when. As I mentioned I would, when the reserved funds didn’t show up, I wrote Indiegogo and that has been a back-and-forth ordeal for almost a week, and I got really strong about it and that finally at least got it escalated to a higher-up. I should hear something in the next few days and hopefully they’ll do the right thing and I’ll just leave it at that for the time being.
I ordered a Marco’s pepperoni pizza and for the first time it just wasn’t very good. It was certainly okay, just not as good as usual. I had the rest of the ice cream I’d gotten the night before and I shouldn’t have – just hated for it to go to waste, but boy am I paying the price ($3.98) – haddock, nausea, and blechhh. Most of the day and evening was spent finalizing the 10 episodes of the web series. I made a title page for each, gave titles to all the episodes, added the set-up to one character that pays off in the final episode – just one line in three separate episodes – made some tiny cuts, wrote a few new lines and removed others, and now that’s all done. I watched the movie, which probably contributed to the haddock and nausea, and here I am listening to Slovenian music.
Today, I’ll be up when I’m up, I’ll do whatever needs doing, I’ll return to the screenplay and begin my adjustments, I’ll eat something very mild, I’ll continue casting the Kritzerland show, and then I can watch, listen, and, most importantly, relax.
Tomorrow, she of the Evil Eye comes so I’ll go have a breakfast somewhere, do stuff, and then come home, where I’ll continue to work on the screenplay adjustments. Same for Sunday and hopefully I’ll be finished because I then have to solely turn my attention to the big Kritzerland anniversary show and the web series.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up when I’m up, do whatever needs doing, return to the screenplay, eat something mild, continue casting the Kritzerland show, and then watch, listen, and relax.
