THE SPEEDY CHEEZ WHIZ NOTES

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, it is late, I have written not nearly enough for reasons I’ll explain, and so I will fly though these notes lika a gazelle eating Cheez Whiz. So, let me begin by saying I watched nothing. Let me furthermore say that I was so tired last evening that I fell asleep the minute I took what I thought would be a five-minute couch break and slept for ninety damn minutes. Getting the picture? Here’s more picture. I didn’t get to bed until four thanks to having to finish the commentary for the Kritzerland show and Spotlight search being completely and utterly useless. I only got six hour of sleep. I got up at ten-thirty and knew I had to be at Marshall’s at one. I futzed and finessed almost everything before leaving.

Then I went to Marshall’s to view episode seven and it was very funny with some minor stuff to do in the main part of the episode and that took about ninety minutes. But neither Marshall or I was happy with the song that ends the episode, so we spent well over two hours redoing it but it looks very good now. Basically, I just wanted it simpler without a ton of edits and that’s the way most of the numbers are, but for some reason this one had more edits. Anyway, we’re both very happy with it now. I saw the end credits on a couple of episodes, but we have some mistakes to fix and that will get done shortly. So, I didn’t even leave Marshall’s till almost five, then I stopped at the mail place, then Subway for a spicy Eyetalian sandwich, then home to eat it. By the time I finished it was six-thirty. I dove in to writing new pages but I was impatient with what I was writing so I kept nuking stuff and starting over. I finally got about five pages done, maybe six, then took my little five-minute break that turned into ninety minutes. Then I found out a surprise guest for the Kritzerland show couldn’t do it anymore and I had to figure out how to make it work without said person, which I did, but which took up my time, that and getting the end credits fixes where they needed to go. By that time, I was just thoroughly irritated with everything and upset at myself for not getting in the swing of things, writing-wise. I think the six pages are okay, but I kept going places that were boring me, so now I’m back on track but of course had to write these here notes, which, in case you haven’t noticed, is what I’m doing. I also want to be in bed no later than two, so whether I can do nine pages in two hours is anyone’s guess, but as I’ve said, the nature of this book is that pages take forever to fill up, something I’m just not used to. Still, I’m pretty far along and should I get close to the nine pages, I’ll be to page 190 of the manuscript, but won’t get any writing done on Saturday for obvious reasons. I mean, I’ll do some in the morning and when I get home after the show but it won’t be much. Hopefully, I’ll have crossed page 200 by Sunday night so I can send Muse Margaret another 100 pages on Monday morning. There, that was pretty fast writing. Not that interesting and mostly a kvetching party, but sometimes a man’s gotta vent when a man’s gotta vent.

Today, I’ll be up by ten, hopefully, I’ll futz and finesse, I’ll eat, I’ll write new pages right up until our four-thirty rehearsal, which lasts until ten, so probably not much writing after that, so the hope will be that I can finish the writing by four-thirty.

Tomorrow, I’ll be up by ten and do as much as I can before our stumble-through, but I have to be shaved and showered and dressed and ready to leave right after we finish, so that’s a lot of prep, to make sure the commentary is printed and I have everything in my tote bag to bring to the club and that includes my mic stand, which I haven’t gotten back yet and so I’m trying to arrange that. No matter which way you slice it, it’s gonna be a crazy day and evening and I’m never adding a show on a stumble-through day again, EVER. Sunday, I can write most of the day, then I’ll get ready for our sold out show and mosey on over to the club around four o’clock, do a quick sound check, and then we do the show and then I’m getting a decent meal somewhere. Monday, I’ll send new pages to Muse Margaret, and then I’m probably in the final sixty or seventy pages of the book.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten, futz and finesse, eat, write, have a marathon rehearsal, and perhaps write a bit more, print out the commentary and get everything ready for Saturday’s show. Today’s topic of discussion: Your choice. Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, having flown through the notes like a gazelle eating Cheez Whiz.
