WELCOME 2023!!!!!

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I have breaking bombshell news for you and it is big news – it is 2023!!! Yes, hold your hats and hallelujah, it is 2023 and not only is it 2023, it is also January. And it is my fervent hope and prayer that 2023 and January will be a year and month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful. We all need a wonderful 2023 so let us make a bridge of vibes and xylophones from here to eternity and make it happen. I must say, we had us a pretty damn impressive and fun and safe Annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Bash around these here parts. At nine o’clock the East Coast balls dropped, and we wished everyone on that coast a Happy New Year! We had many wonderful and amusing postings throughout the night, and I can tell you that it was the highest posting month since February of 2009. Damn impressive, if you ask me. Prior to the East Coast balls dropping, I did manage to watch a motion picture entitled Old, which is not a biographical motion picture about ME. This is yet another peculiar M. Night Shyamalan film. It purportedly made 90-million bucks but I’m not sure I believe that. The film certainly has an interesting premise but is undone completely by a bad screenplay with awful dialogue and some actors who really struggle to make the non-characters interesting. Certainly, the direction is competent visually, but it just doesn’t deliver and the ending, which some call a twist, isn’t a twist at all and it’s extremely dopey. It was raining for most of the day and raining really hard into the evening. In fact, as I write these here notes, it’s just stopped, but I’m hoping it starts up again so it puts a damper on the idiots who shoot off fireworks. The rain felt very cleansing.

Yesterday was perfectly fine and a calm end to 2022. I got ten hours of sleep, got up, answered e-mails, then moseyed on over to the mail place and picked up two important envelopes. I came right home, relaxed, did a few things on the computer, and had a nice meal from Stanley’s delivered – my beloved grilled chicken pasta in a light garlic cream sauce with broccoli, red onions, and cashews. It was very good and very filling and that was my food for the day – well, that and a chocolate donut. I made the tuna pasta salad and got that out of the way.

Then I began a seven-day free trial for HBO-Max, which happily includes TCM. There are quite a few things for me to watch and I may even decide to keep it and rid myself of Netflix, as I’m quite bored of their selection and even more bored of their documentaries and their “style.” Then before I could even begin the movie, I fell asleep for thirty minutes. Then I watched the movie and then attended our Annual New Year’s Rockin’ Eve Bash, first wishing our East Coast dear readers Happy New Year when their collective balls dropped, and then taking a long, hot shower and washing all the not-so-hot things from 2022 right down the drain, while holding onto all the nice things and yes there were VERY nice things to hold onto. After that wonderful cleansing, I went into my bedroom, closed the door, shut the lights off, and did my annual contemplation thing. Normally, I kind of just babble incoherently, but not this time – I was short, to the point, and succinct. Then I wrote these here notes and went back to the Bash and at midnight our collective West Coast balls dropped, and we shouted Happy New Year, and I had my annual sip of champagne.

Today, I’ll be up by ten and as soon as I’m coherent I’ll read through what I’ve already written and futz and finesse as I go, I’ll organize a few things that I wrote out of order, and then I’ll begin writing anew – first day is always scary, which is why I write a little in advance, and this book’s a bit different in its style and has what I hope is a unique and interesting lead character. I’ll write until about two or so, then shower, then cook some faux Stroganoff over penne pasta, and at four, guests will arrive. It will only be four or five people total and it will be a nice way to begin 2023.

After they leave, I may write another page or two and then I can watch, listen, and relax.

This coming week is all writing, preparing new releases to announce, and doing whatever needs doing.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by ten, begin writing a new book, shower, cook, have company, eat, maybe write a few more pages, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you dear readers get to make with the topics and we all get to post about them. So, let’s have loads of lovely topics and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, as we give a hearty welcome to both 2023 and January – and it is my fervent hope and prayer that 2023 and January will be a year and month filled with health, wealth, happiness, creativity, and all things bright and beautiful.
