WHEN THE MOON IS IN THE SEVENTH HOUSE

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars, then what? Will peace guide the planets? Will love steer the stars? These are the questions that roam the windmills of my mind. First of all, why did the damn moon choose the seventh house when the third house is just as good, bigger, and has a pool? Do the planets WANT peace to guide them? Were they consulted? Do the stars wish for love to steer them? Wouldn’t they rather have a designated driver steer them because love is always drunk with itself? I know not the answers and the answers no not me. Another thing I know not is who decided to put the peanut butter into an Abba Zaba? Whoever it was is to be commended and given an introduction to the Ides of March or the Whales of August. If anyone has any idea of what the HELL I’m talking about, mum’s the word and if mum doesn’t work, try grease or at least Greece. Other questions that are presenting themselves every twenty second are, did Lorne Greene ever wear red? Did Cilla Black ever date Ben Blue and if so were they Black and Blue? Did Joe E. Brown have Red Buttons? Was Red Skelton secretly the Green Hornet? Aren’t these colorful notes or have I gone off the deep end? And what is the deep end? Anyway, I am sitting here like so much fish, pondering the major miracles I am in desperate need of, as well as pondering the imponderables, having eaten a small Abba Zaba. I did manage to watch a motion picture last night entitled Erin Brockovich, which is a film about Erin Brockovich, starring Julia Roberts and Albert Finney. I’d only seen a couple of scenes from it – yes, they were seen scenes – but it was fun to see it in its entirety and I rather enjoyed it. I like a good David and Goliath yarn and that’s what it was. I don’t always love Julia Roberts’ performances, but she’s excellent in this as is Mr. Finney. And now, I’ve been trying to relax a bit before I begin trying to write another three pages, having written twelve already yesterday and yesterday evening.

Speaking of yesterday, I got very little sleep, perhaps five hours tops but probably less than that. She of the Evil Eye arrived at 8:45 and I was out the door by nine and went to Art’s Deli, where I had some matzoh brei and a bagel. After that, I went to the mail place and picked up no packages or mail, save for a catalog. Then I went to Gelson’s and got a small top sirloin for the afternoon’s repast. Then Muse Margaret called and she’d reread the forty pages in question and began by telling me everything she loved, and then telling me things we could lose. I told her I’d already highlighted several things we could lose and most of our thoughts meshed perfectly and those were deleted and that really helped. I left one in because she said she’d be fine with it if I added a little heft to it, which I can do easily. In the end, I think we cut a little over three pages.

Then I began writing new pages and wrote eight pretty quickly, then took a break, then wrote two more at some point and now I definitely will write three more and that will be that for tonight. I made the steak and it was really good, then I wrote, then I watched the movie, then I did about an hour of research so I wouldn’t have to keep starting and stopping.

Today, I’ll be up by eleven at the latest, I’ll futz and finesse and try to stay out of harm’s way, I’ll write new pages, I’ll hopefully pick up some packages and/or mail, I’ll eat, I’ll write, and then at some point I can watch, listen, and relax.

Tomorrow is more of the same, as is Friday, and also on Friday I may see the first cut of episode eight, if not, that will happen on Saturday. Otherwise, it’s really just writing until I finish. The mystery books all seem to come out around 267 manuscript pages, but I think this one may come out closer to 300 pages but I won’t know that for a while.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, be up by eleven at the latest, futz and finesse, try to stay out of harm’s way, write new pages, hopefully pick up packages and/or mail, eat, write, and then watch, listen, and relax. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s Ask BK Day, the day in which you get to ask me or any dear reader any old question you like and we get to give any old answer we like. So, let’s have loads of lovely questions and loads of lovely answers and loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland, pondering if the moon is in the seventh house.
