MULTIPLE THINGS

Bruce Kimmel Photograph bk's notes

Well, dear readers, I must write these here notes in a hurry for she of the Evil Eye will be here all too soon and I still haven’t gotten enough sleep and am as tired as tired can be and that’s tired. I can’t think of a single thing to write about, therefore I shall write about multiple things. That solves that problem. For example, I can write about how I really wanted to sleep in yesterday but the damn telephonic device kept ringing. I’d answer it, chat for a minute, then fall back asleep only to have it ring again – and so it went until I finally could stand no more, at which point I got up – that was at ten o’clock. Naturally the phone never rang again the entire day and evening. Go know. I did the usual work on the usual computer, then I had a lunch meeting with Miss Juliana Hansen about the club act we’re creating. We discussed all manner of things, and we’re just trying to lock up a musical director right now. After that, I went to the mail place and picked up a couple of teeny-tiny packages and an important envelope. Then I did some banking, and then I came home.

I then finessed the contextual commentary for the Sunday Kritzerland show, adding a bit here, deleting a bit there, and smoothing it all out, so that’s done. I then got the final approvals on the Lady in a Cage packaging, so that’s now at the printers and we should have CDs in about a week and a half, I should think. Then I sat on my couch like so much fish.

And yes, last night I watched two more Wallander movies – the first was quite good, the second was in the top five of these – everything just right – the acting, the plotting, the suspense, the mystery, the characters, the mood – just great work from all. I will truly miss this particular series when I’m finished with this box set. The star, Krister Henriksson has said he will not do any more of these. Transfers are consistently terrific and are as good as and DVD transfers I’ve seen. Once again, I highly recommend this series and if you have a multi-region player they’re easily available on amazon – be sure to order from the UK, thought, because the US splits these into even more sets and it’s very confusing. In the UK sets, there are two boxes for the thirteen films in series one, and the same for series two.

I then watched last week’s episode of Mad Men and I have to say it’s the first episode of this season where I really felt they were back on track – everything worked well in this episode and I hope that will be the case for the rest of them. After that, I worked on the next Kritzerland release – doing the edit road map, and starting the packaging. That took quite a bit of time, as this one is sort of complex for various reasons. I’m going to try and do two more releases this month if possible, as we didn’t have a soundtrack release in April and I want to not fall behind.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I really must get as much beauty sleep as possible before a very long day and evening.

Today, I shall be up early, and I shall definitely jog – I may even try for more than two miles. I really have to take off the bit of weight I’ve gained back. After that, I’ll do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up some packages, and then we have our stumble-through. After that, the Family Hollis and I will drive to Dan Tana’s for a belated birthday dinner for Melody. I haven’t been there in ages and I’m really looking forward to it. After that, we’ll drop the 35mm print of Nudie at the Nuart, then we’ll head home.

Tomorrow, we have sound check and show. Monday it’s back to Dr. Chew, then I’m seeing Beth Malone’s solo show at The Federal. The rest of the week will be very busy with all sorts of things – booking the June New York trip, pulling charts for the next Kritzerland show and casting it, prepping the next release, meetings, meals, and seeing a few shows.

Let’s all put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s all break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s dance the Hora or the Brain Tap, for today is the birthday of our beloved dear reader George. So, let’s give a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer to our beloved dear reader George. On the count of three: One, two, three – A BIG HAINESHISWAY.COM BIRTHDAY CHEER TO OUR BELOVED DEAR READER GEORGE!!!

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, do a jog, do errands and whatnot, hopefully pick up some packages, have a stumble-through, eat, drop off a print, and then relax. Today’s topic of discussion: What was the very first science-fiction movie you ever saw? How old were you, where did you see it, and how did you react? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I hit the road to dreamland where I won’t have a single thing to dream about, therefore I shall dream about multiple things. And don’t we always?
