Watched the "Singin' in the Rain" DVD last night -- listened to the commentaries, watched all the extras and I'm delighted.
As to the color -- I had to make adjustments -- if one looks at the feature about the making of "Singin' in the Rain," one sees how the color should look, without making adjustments -- all the clips are Technicolor. When watching the movie, it's a bit washed out unless you adjust your color...I did, and voila! I got really great flashy colors (but the downside is that everyone looks as though they're very tanned...and will one day suffer many miseries and spend many thousands of dollars with a dermatologist).

Good morning! Good mo-o-or-ning...
For those of you who may not check the late-night postings, I cut and pasted a copy of the e-mail I received regarding the Men of Passion Calendar last night. If anything, be sure to check out the pics on the site - they're very well done - and funny.
So, if it's free-for-all day, does that mean it's:
A) Free for everyone day.
OR
B) Free for the duration of the day.
And what exactly is "free"????
-Can you tell I'm stretching...
It's a beautiful Sunday here in Richmond - and yesterday in DC was wonderful too. And we finally got some rain on Thursday and Friday, so that was a good thing too. My new place is shaping up, and once I get all my books and music unpacked, I'll probably have very little precious space for anything else in my room. *It truly is amazing how much stuff one can accumulate over the years. I'm not that big a pack rat, but after playing a show here, buying another score there, ordering a script or two, a CD or two (or three or four), etc., it can really add up to a lot of "stuff" that one can't really throw out.
*And I'm bound and determined to get at least 90% of my music out of the boxes they've been stored in for the past couple of years - they need some fresh air.
Well, I'm off to enjoy more of this wonderful weather! See you later.

Hello, everybody.
I received my copy of the new Advocate yesterday (the Coming Out Issue), and who should they have an article on but the renowned Matt Zarley. Presumably because he is openly gay. Hey, I'm openly gay, and they never had an article about me. And neither did People.
But anyway, what caught my eye was that it said Mr. Zarley produced his own album, and then it was taken up by--The F* * * * Alley Division of Universal! That's the first I've heard of this. Anyone care to elucidate? BK? Or is this a subject which is just as well left undiscussed?

Well, bringing in Universal sounds good, doesn't it. Actually, they are indeed a division of Universal by way of Varese Sarabande. It's the same distribution deal I put in place when I created the company. In any case, labels do sometimes pick up self-produced albums for distribution. That way it doesn't cost them anything and they really can't lose.

Well, i'll be!
I've never been in People Magazine (But I was on the 1st short-leved tv show version in tandem with a husky St. Bernard - oh, wait! I was on the first tv version of People Magazine in an "article" on the Cult of Rocky Horror.
I've never been in OUT or THE ADVOCATE magazine, either. Though a picture of my then-b.f. was published in our local OUT - and I was cropped out of the picture! Of course I was sitting off to the side, staring into his baby browns, so....
Anyway, I need a lot of positive energy from this gang tonight (7:00pm EST)as we are having a read-through of the FIRST ACT of ZERO PATIENCE: our screen to stage adaptation. I've got the scripts (with only three unwritten scenes), I've got the actors (with only one who cannot join us until next month) and I've got a producer (who is giving me production notes NOW, when what we all need are textual notes - oy vey!) AND I've got a very good feeling about this, but still, if y'all think a few pleasant thoughts for td and ZP around 7 tonight, I'd be very, very grateful.
BK, btw, how's FNM coming for the stage?
Posted by td @ 09/29/2002 01:48 PM PST
Good thoughts coming td's way from all Hainsies/Kimlets, if only they'd come to the fershluganah site. Six posts - honestly. As to Nudie, I'm slogging through. So far, I've written six new songs, which have been fun to do - all but one of which are character/plot songs.

Wow, it is kind of slow today... Must be the nice weather... I'm still taking care of errands - and am about to start unpacking some music and books...
Well, I hope everyone has fun slogging or whatever you're doing right now..

I DO hope one of those character songs is for the character known as "Stuntcock"!
Perhaps it could be titled:
"It's a hard life", or
"Always up even when you're down", or
"Stuck in a rut", or
"They also call me tool man"!

Good positive thoughts from Oz to you td. Now to go squeeze my daily orange juice. (This will nearly complete my daily exercise regime). I will however pour the tea if i have enough energy left.

Dingoes. They are fastidious creatures. I think they only eat the babies of New Zealanders and they are known to carefully fold baby clothes when they have finished eating. I suspect they would not split an infinitive and I know that they are aware that a preposition is the wrong thing to end a sentence with.
They are "native" dogs and you need a special licence to keep them on your property. They are never fully domesticated (according to the law).
My dogs are certainly not as fastidious. They will lick anyone and take food from anyone. The birds, Ron, are quite tidy and the newspaper is not necessary. Cleaning up after the dogs is another story.
Check yesterday's notes if this make no sense except to late posters. It will probably make less sense then.
I have only seen dingoes in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries!

Missing. The Brockman detectives. Michael Shayne and Freedunit. Sunday afternoon and all is quiet.
I watched a Michael Ball video last night. I still think he is a delight. Has "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" ben released in the USA yet? (The Cd of the musical that is). It is cute. There is alos a video/dvd of "the making" variety. I'll have to delay that as buying FNM must be my priority next month.

I have not been errant and truant -- I have been supporting the local arts by attending a performance of "Into the Woods." They did a great job.
We had lunch at a cafe that Sandra calls "The 76 Cafe" -- so nicknamed because when we went there once its most recent health department score was 76, and it takes a 75 or better to stay open. It is right across the street from the theater, so we park and walk over for lunch before the show. However, it was my last trip there. I'll just say there was an unwelcome interloper during the meal and leave it at that.

Oh, and BK, regarding the computer gremlins -- better ask a teenager. They are the only ones who understand these things.
Posted by Laura @ 09/29/2002 05:40 PM PST
Robert Armin -- you're missed. If you're lurking, say "Hello" just to let us know!
Freedunit -- ditto!

Now don't tell me Francois has gone home for the week, already?
Surely he's lurking still...?
In a few hours, it will be time for all good Frenchmen to find cafe and beignets, will it not?
It's a lazy afternoon...and the impending season change is looming more obviously than before. The late afternoon light is not as bright, somehow.
Things I miss by living in Oakland: The crisp chill of autumnal days...that chill that helps leaves undergo that glorious change from deep, verdant greens to russets and golds and bronzes before falling from trees, which then point skeletal limbs at the gray, wintry skies until the budding of spring.
(Gag, if you must).

I had to work and just got home. After I eat, I'll post something pretty and witty and gay. For now, I shall just want cake.

Thank you all for the fine thoughts! Our little read-through went swimmingly (a little in-joke for anyone familiar with the film ZERO PATIENCE), and from the sights and sounds of tonight, we have a good thing going. It's gonna be touch work, but boy, do I have a dedicated crew of actors, musicians, a choreographer to die for and a very understanding producer who are willing to give more than 150% to create this little piece of theater. Much more work to do, of course, but by this time next month, we should have a full song score as well as a complete work-in-progress script. I also received a little note from the film's writer/director John Greyson as a follow-up to my update to him. BK, aren't you the lucky one? Adapting your own script? I don't envy you one bit, these are certainly magnifincent adventures we have set our courses on, aren't they?
Kerry! I had some magnificent wedding cake tonight! Some sort of Austrian confection with a sour cream frosting in the middle. (Note to self: If I am going to appear onstage wrapped only in cellophane and boxer shorts, I'd better stop eating cake). It was delicious. Wish you coulda been here to share a piece. Also, the wedding ceremony went very well yesterday, with "Listen to My Heart" and "We can Be Kind" garnering the correct emotional response(s) from the congregation.

Where'd everybody go?
Posted by Ron Pulliam @ 09/29/2002 11:51 PM PST
Perhaps they all were granted their wishes from the other day.
I am listening to Australia's Marina Prior singing Sondheim/Bernstein. Pleasant enough. At present she is suggesting we should glitter and be gay. I am trouble with the glitter.

Kerry, are you still eating? Six hours! That is some cake.
I am still waiting for something pretty, witty and gay. Story of my life I guess.

It's early Monday morning so this may not be seen by the multitudes. I was errant and truant all weekend. I admit it. I was at work most of Saturday then went home, ate and went to bed and slept from 8pm to 8am Sunday morning. I am now back at the office (it's 7:30 and I've been here since 6am) and just catching up on things outside the realm of work. Any word on the Hainsie/Kimmlet NY get together? It would be a nice break from all my office drama.
