"DAINTY JUNE"

bk's notes II

Well, dear readers, here I am, firmly ensconced in the Big Apple or, at the very least, the medium kiwi. I had a lovely flight in, checked into my lovely hotel, and then went off to see Hairspray, thanks to Mr. Craig Brockman securing me Miss Kerry Butler’s house seat. I met Mr. Craig Brockman in front of the theater, and then, once inside, I met Mr. Michael Shayne, who was also seeing the show. The show was delightful, very high energy, and perfectly cast. The first act did go on a bit long, and a couple of the numbers seemed to blend into each other, but it’s such an obvious audience pleaser it doesn’t matter. The sets and costumes were/are fun, Jack O’Brien keeps the whole thing moving right along, and some of Jerry Mitchell’s choreography is really terrific. But it’s the performances that really sell the show and every single person is excellent – from Marissa Jaret Wonokur and Harvey Fierstein, to our very own Kerry Butler to my old college chum Linda Hart. Since I was in the third row, when Linda saw me during the curtain call, she pointed at me and waved. Afterwards, we said hi to Kerry and the others and then went off to Joe Allen, where Michael and Craig and I met up with my assistant Jonathan, his chum Kristopher, Kristopher’s singing partner, and our very own Juliana A. Hansen. We had lots of fun, and sitting nearby was Charles Kimbrough and Beth Howland and I had a lovely conversation with them, too. Sitting in the very back of the restaurant, holding court, was Miss Chita Rivera, her daughter Lisa Mordente, and others I didn’t recognize.

I must hurry now because shortly I leave for our first session of recording – today we’re doing Miss Judy Kaye, Miss Rebecca Luker, Miss Christiane Noll, Miss Sussan Gordon, and horror television host and legend, Zacharley. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

It’s still gray and rainy (it rained quite a bit last night) but I rather like that look here in New York, New York. Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because I must jump in the shower or, at the very least I must do a time step in the shower.

Tonight, after our session, is our unseemly Hainsies/Kimlets get-together and from what I gather there will be quite a lovely crowd. Then, tomorrow, the rest of the recording session, more Joe Allen, and then back to Los Angeles, California from whence I came.

Don’t forget, Donald has a brand spanking new radio show going up today, and if you haven’t read Seth Rudetsky’s Unseemly Interview, you should.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must go hither and thither and then yon, I must record, I must go to our get-together, in short, I must get crackin’. Also, as already mentioned, we’re not doing an Unseemly Live Chat this weekend, but we may have an impromptu one during the week. Today’s topic of dissuction – wait a minute – did anyone notice I just wrote dissuction instead of discussion? Oh, well, now we’ve got to live with it – today’s topic of dissuction: It’s Sunday – free-for-all day, the day in which you get to dissuct anything your collective hearts desire. So, dissuct away and I’ll check in when I get back to the hotel around five. Let’s have lots and lots of posts because you know what – while I’ve been sitting here writing these here notes I forgot to mention that it is June, June, June (that is three Junes, which means June is bustin’ out all over). Let’s give a hearty hello to dainty June and all the nice things it will bring to one and all and also all and one. Post away, my pretties.

Wow. first post. Hooo-ray. BK, are you not seeing "Gypsy"? And I just skimmed yesterdays notes and I hope it was cleared up that "Uncle Walt" is indeed not frozen...

Now, where are all you "I love when the notes are early" people? Errant and truant, that's where.

However, May was our second best month ever, despite some really poor days - had we not had some really pour days we would have stomped the previous all time high - oh, a James Bond reference.

Good morning!

How appropriate that we should have the review of Wicked last night, and this morning, here in norther Virginia (NoVa), it seems like I may see a house blowing by my window any second now. Quite gusty outside - it's what woke me up.

Well, I'm not really sure what to talk about this morning, this Free-For-All Morning... soon to be Free-For-All Afternoon... The F-F-A Dusk... (oooh, maybe a bad choice of initials/acronym)... Ah, well...

Well, I am soooo looking forward to coming up to NYC tomorrow and meeting some other H/Ks as well as the esteemed, BK, himself. I wish I could make it up there tonight, but with the matinee today, I wouldn't be able to make it up to the city until around 9:30. But I am looking forward to the trip - even get to make a little money since I got hired to play a few hours of auditions. Drinks on me! -Well, maybe not... Unless Joe Allen takes a third party check. ;-)

Well, I'm babbling now... so... See all of you fine people later.

Happy June to all the dear readers. It has busted out all over...it is in January..it makes the bugs zoom...it's who Rose did it for...Smile Baby !!

We west coast (almost) children of the corn have to sit at our humble dinner trays tonight, picking at our crust of dried brown bread, sipping rancid water out of crudely fashioned wooden cups....while the elite, the glitterati, the chosen, the few, the proud..(oh, that's something else), the very haute-est of the haute societé will be gathered in the mysteriously dark Joe Allen to eat, drink, be merry, be alice, all in the radiant glow of the esteemed, lithe, guapo, erudite, and creative BK himself. We far away mortals can only vaguely imagine the evening.

Think of us, eastern dear readers, for we shall be with you in spirit.

MusicGuy, thanks for the smile.

Anybody watch Vern and Doug on Trading Spaces last night? IMO, Vern can do no wrong. The guy does such great rooms. I am always so impressed. He did a beautiful living room, and he even took his team out to the furniture store to buy a new couch! It cost $623, and he still came in under the $1000 budget.

The room was done in dark beiges and wine/reds. 3 walls were beige one wall was wine/red. I was also really impressed that Vern let the couple he was working with have some say in what got done. The home owners didn't want black furniture and when the couple mentioned this to Vern he changed his plans and painted the tables the color of the walls. Beautiful room.

Doug was the other designer and he got to do an indoor patio. It was okay. But the couple was very nervous (because they know how doug works). And they weren't too happy when they saw the result. Doug painted everything white. But did a bar in shaped tin foil. Then had a blue and yellow seating unit. It was okay. But compared to Vern's masterpiece it wasn't so hot.

I saw that Hildy's ugly floral bathroom (where she staplegunned thousands of flowers to the wall) was the repeat episode. Oy!

Ugh...I'm so sick of RAIN!! Its getting to be annoying. Anywho...I'm off to get a haircut before I venture out to meet the New York crew. I'm SO excited about tonight and tomorrow and, oh! what fun it shall be.

DR MusicGuy -- .......crust of dried brown bread ......sipping rancid water out of crudely fashioned wooden cups.... When were you at one of my dinner parties?

Oh, I see. Yes, I too wish I could be at Joe Allen's tonight to join in the merriment, to taste my first champagne (R/H reference), to bask in the reflected glow of shared..... Oh Hell, I think I may just be hungry. Anyway, I will be with you all tonight in spirit. I can't wait to read all about it.

First of all, I know that Walt Disney is not frozen but that story has been around since he died that I was just perpetuating the myth. I also found it unusual that someone did not know what the "Mickey Mouse Club" was even if he/she never saw it.

I saw an excellent production of ...MAN-IN-THE-MOON MARIGOLDS last night. The play itself is not dated, but there have been so many disfunctional family plays and movies afterwards that it did not have quite the same effect as the original.

See many of you tonight.

Not errant and truant, no not I.

Today we bought a special Canasta double-deck of cards and various colors of Sculpey. So far we have made a Sculpey monkey, a Sculpey snowman and a Sculpey robot.

Have a great day, everyone!

I will count myself among the
jealous west coasters who

wonderful time for all and one

I'm off across the mountains
for the second time this
weekend to attend a banquet

recognized for his 20 years of

am so proud of my father.
He's been acting and directing

putting on concerts in this

He's such a cool guy...every

Oh, how I wish I were in New
York, NY with all of you tonight,
first for the company -- oh, a

SO HOT and DRY here in
Paris....

We knew that you knew,
William, but I guess Walt
wanted to say "Hi!"...
Btw, he asked to be excused;
he can't make it at Joe

Thanks Ron for the review of a

François: Think nothing of it. It was my pleasure to talk about "Wicked" with friends.

I am in a quandary now, though -- I have CDs and DVDs I want to listen to/watch -- but I have this show in my head and I don't want to let it go.

This show won't open on Broadway until October (assuming its San Francisco run is successful -- Hah!) and the cast album won't be out until after then.

What a score!!! Man!

BK and everyone: I've reposted my "review" to rec.arts.theater.musicals with a few modifications (based upon more things I thought of, etc.) in response to a query asking for reaction to the show.

I've also posted some observations to Kristin Chenoweth's website where others who saw the show this past week posted their views, too.

Posted by Ron Pulliam @ 06/01/2003 01:21 PM PST

Jennifer: Hildy's bathroom sucked! Woof! What a crappy room (no pun intended).

There was the room with hay on the walls, and a dining room wall on which she painted her own face, and now this gosh-awful monstrosity. Her "design" credentials should be revoked.

Hate Her!

As for Doug, he claimed that patio room needed a sense of humor. What Doug needs is a sense of humor. What's fun to Doug is crap to me. I've never found him amusing, and he's so over-the-top with his boring ego-driven self that I'd flat refuse to allow him into my home if the show came a-knockin'.

Vern can do no wrong. Laurie's taste seems impeccable to me, as well. I like Edward's sensibilities, too. Frank is fun. But if you don't want "folksy," you can't present yourself to him as wanting "country" anything.

Kia...keep that woman AWAY from my house!

Both Ty and Amy Wynn-Pastor can make furniture for my home anytime they like!

What is sculpey? Is it some kind of clay?

I got the haircut. I look like Hitler.

Off to see what I can do with this new coiffe...

Posted by Jason @ 06/01/2003 01:43 PM PST

Oops...coiffure, not coiffe. Sorry.

Posted by Jason @ 06/01/2003 01:44 PM PST

DR Jason.....

Will all of the dancing Hitlers PLEASE go off stage left; we're only seeing singing Hitlers this afternoon!

Posted by MusicGuy @ 06/01/2003 02:33 PM PST

WEL: Yes, Sculpey is a pliable clay that comes in various vivid shades that you can bake in your oven. It's fun. :)

OK, I have a prime example of the harm TV stations do with their habit of just plunking in commercials as often as possible, wherever possible. We watched an old episode of Hawaii Five-O just now, and at the 8 minutes 'til mark, the bad guy was leading the lady decoy out her apartment door, gun drawn. COMMERCIALS. Around four minutes of commercials for fabric softener, etc. BACK TO THE SHOW. Bad guy and lady decoy take two steps, then Steve shouts Freeze!, the guy opens fire and the rest of the Five-O fire back at him. As his body is riddled with bullets ala Bonnie and Clyde, the bad guy crumples to the ground. END CREDITS.

Can you believe that??? They *completely* ruined the end of the show! Now I'm aware Hawaii Five-O ain't Shakespeare, but good grief! These people need to get a grip. People won't be there to watch the commercials when they ruin the ENTERTAINMENT, which is the reason we're there in the first place!

Help! I can't find most of yesterday's posts. They are indeed E & T it seems.

I went to see a stage production of the charming "Gigi" yesterday. It was a joy. So what if there is no action and very little plot. The show was produced so well ans the performers were very good and delivered those delightful lines so well. The audience was indeed supportive. It was a non professional company who do two shows a year. They have presented 1776 and Sweeney Todd as Australian firsts and over the 25 years I have been going, have never repeated a show. A couple of the "new" songs for "Gigi" are not great but the show was staged more like the UK production than the Broadway production which was I think, not successful at all.
It may not have been "Wicked" but was a true delight.
I will check back later to see if anyone has found those late posts.

Posted by Tom from Oz @ 06/01/2003 02:48 PM PST

Hey, Tom! Yesterday's posts are showing up for me. If you click on my name they should show up - if you haven't found them yet. -Or if they haven't found you - whichever the case may be.

-Boy, do I wish I was in NYC tonight. Now... Ah, well... IN 24 hours...

Posted by Jose C. Simbulan @ 06/01/2003 03:35 PM PST

No, the Broadway production of GIGI was decidedly not a success either artistically or commercially though the score did win Lerner and Loewe their last Tony award. And the RCA cast album SOUNDS dull which I think most of show's reviews of the time pretty much confirmed.

Yep, I'm green with envy over so many of you getting together tonight, so I'll just think rea;;y hard of everyone and remember that tasty meatloaf I had at Joe Allen the last time I was there.

Still can not get to the late posts. Thanks Jose but not through your link either. Last post i get is the one about looking like Billy Joel but that does not finish. I know there was more than that yesterday.

I may well have missed something wonderful (R & H). At least I have not missed out on Ron's "Wicked" review. I am so envious.
Back to "Gigi". The London cast album is "flat" too. The performances yesterday were sparkling and the show "flowed" so easily. Very well staged indeed.

By this time, tomorrow, I will be among the skyscrapers and hobos! Well, sort of. I'm going to visit my grandmother who lives in Queens, so I'll be spending most of the trip up there and all of Wednesday in Manhattan.

Jose--Because of this, Joe Allen is looking kind of unlikely for me on Monday, I regret. :( But I hope everyone has a faboo time! Will anyone be doing anything on Wednesday in the city?

Looking forward to 1776!

Ron--I agree with everyone that your Wicked review was amazing! I so cannot wait for this show to come to New York! Kristin Chenoweth is a short little goddess! (Not that I should talk--I'm only 5'2). Hooray for short people!

Well, I can't think of anything else to say for now except that I'm going to watch "Talk to Her" with my mom. Adios!

Miss Otis regrets she's unable to lunch today.

Ah, Dear Readers, one and all: I think that "Richard Valley" was being entirely facetious when he asked on Roll Call Friday, (and I quote) "Roll Call? What is this, the Mickey Mouse Club?"

Posted by td @ 06/01/2003 05:57 PM PST

Oh yes, we can be VERY
facetious here, at HHW, and i
too believe Richard Valley was
not really asking a question....

Today is Sunday
You know what that means.....

Posted by François @ 06/01/2003 06:21 PM PST

DR Francois -- OK, I'll bite.. what is it that Sunday manifests? What does it mean? Time to stroll off to your Eglise du jour??

By the way Francois, did you ever have dinner at a terrific seafood restaurant called Prunier (sp?) ? It was near the church of the Madeleine, and it was one of the best dinners we had in Paris over the years. I don't think it is still there.

DR Sandra -- Unfortunately, they didn't serve floop at Prunier. sorry.

Posted by MusicGuy @ 06/01/2003 06:45 PM PST

I just looked at my log-on name that I posted to Francois, and realized that the pronunciation in Paris would be something like: Moozeek-Ghee . How very Charles Boyer..."Paula, what do you mean? The lights haven't dimmed at all...."

Posted by MusicGuy @ 06/01/2003 06:49 PM PST

I just spoke on the phone with Susan Gordon, Tom Amorosi and Richard Valley; they all concur that today's recording session was, to quote Cole Porter, "Wunderbar." Wish I coulda been there. . .

MusicGuy (Lyn):

I'm sure you've watched the
original Mickey Mouse Club...
i was just parodying the song
for the daily theme....

The only Prunier I found
through the Yellow Pages is a
Maison Prunier near the Arch
of Triumph.... You must have
closed off the other place on
your last visit ;- )

I seldom go to restaurants; my
budget does not allow that...

Now, French people's accent
has been made fun of MANY
times here in the past -- I even
joined in the fun at times.. --
don't get me started on that
because YOU, Americans, just
can't handle "our" sound U in
MUSIC because "you" don't
have this sound in your
language, and GUY would be
easy as pie to pronounce, --
yes, even in Paris --since it's
SO CLOSE to "our " GARS --
same meaning, as in "hey, you
guys!"... "We" would say
GAILLE and get away with it!

It's with TH French folks have
problems because we don't
have that sound -- see above!
--
Oh but we do have FLOOP DU
JOUR here in our local
MacDonalds, thank you! Is that
a... scoop??
How "he flew the coup with the
floop du jour"?

Music Guy: Long timers 'round these parts may remember my list of prank phone calls I made in a previous life. Don't know if I ever mentioned this one, but I used to call random people and, in my best Charles Boyer accent, ask them (usually to their hilarious disconcertment): "Paula (pronounced, of course, Pow-la), what have you done with the lovely brooch, Paula?" Well, it helped to pass the time on boring days at work. :)

Lulu, Sculpey sounds like fun. If I had any talent I would want to do this myself.

Ann, how fortunate you are to attend your father's banquet. Don't blame you in the least for bragging. Thank you for sharing.

We just returned from a wonderful afternoon. The production, sets, acting and all for "Present Laughter" were wonderful. Then our younger son met us for dinner. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the meal and our creek side table. We discussed where in Eastern Europe (when we visit him in Romania) we will spend our next anniversary. It will be a big one-35.

Now we are waiting for our good friend, Bruce and Susan's as well, Penny to arrive. She will be spending a couple of nights with us.

It was so lovely to meet some of the old familiar screennames tonight...and the food was fantastic, as well! I'm surprised I could taste it, considering how fast I was eating it! I hadn't eaten all day, so it would be an understatement to say that I was slightly hungry when I got to the restaurant. And I did a lot of people-watching. I'm a lot quieter in real life than I am online, but that's mainly because I'm watching and observing. I guess some people would call that creepy...I call it character study.

I can't wait for tomorrow's activities. It'll be a good time, I think.

Oh, if you're curious as to which celebrity we saw tonight, I guess it'd have to be Ms. Harriet Harris. She's the only one I saw, anyway.

Well, I am so jealous of all you who were able to party in NYC! I tried to make up for it by seeing the X-Men 2 movie with my niece and my sister's boyfriend. It didn't even come close. Then my sister and I went shopping for garden stuff that was on sale and bottles of soy milk (we had four coupons!). After all that, I came home to my VCR taping "The Andromeda Strain." I got here just as the movie was starting and I watched it all the way through. For a movie low on movie making technology (probably even for when it was made), it sure held my interest. I really like this movie.

I now must be off to get some waxed paper. I am making chocolate-dipped Oreos for a bake sale tomorrow and I need to set them somewhere to cool and harden. I know it's not baking, certainly nothing like what Jose could do, but I have the Oreos and I have the chocolate and I want to do something with them so that I don't eat all the Oreos all by myself.

Posted by George @ 06/01/2003 09:12 PM PST

DR George - Chocolate Dipped Oreos! I would definitely make those! And I would probably guild the lily a little bit more by double dipping - perhaps a coating of white chocolate too, OR a small "smudge" of peanut butter!

Hmmmm....

Well, time for me to hit the hay... OUCH! -that smarts... Does anything ever "dumbs"?

Six hours until I head up north!

Lulu: Re: sculpey that "can be baked in the oven."

Is that a real oven, or an Easy Bake oven?

: )

Et Al: Thanks for the kind comments about my review (as it was) of "Wicked." I urge you all to visit the Kristen Chenoweth messageboard and read what some others have written. One fellow recalled some of the hilarious lines from the play and shared them, urging everyone to make them part of their everyday conversations.

I also recalled some folks I should not have omitted in my review here -- Kirk McDonald as "Boq" (a Munchkin who's "a bit tall for a Munchkin") and Michelle Federer as "Nessarose", Elphaba's sister (who becomes the Wicked Witch of the East). Boq dates Nessarose in college, and then serves her when she becomes Governor of Oz (not under the power of the Wizard). They share some pivotal moments, including one that brought a collective gasp from the audience that gave way to applause.

One of the things I meant to say about "I'm Not That Girl" sung by both female leads is that it's sure to become a standard.

I had a Season 7 Buffy marathon for myself this afternoon...the last six episodes, anyway. It's always instructive to rewatch such well-crafted shows...nuances are discovered and memories "corrected" of who said what about whom (or which).

Here it is nearly 10 p.m. and I'm totally keyed up. It can't have been caffeine as I forgot to make coffee this morning so involved did I get in posting to r.a.t.m. and Kristin's messageobard...and here, of course...and there...and everywhere. I've been too chatty.

Tom from Oz: I'm terribly sorry you've had troubles getting all the messages. I hope you see this one. All my best wishes are with you. I would love to have shared "Wicked" with you and François and all the other HHW gang who would have loved seeing it.

I failed to mention they had a 21-piece orchestra plus two synths. An impossibly young-looking man named Stephen Oremus was music conductor and received credit with Stephen Schwartz for Vocal Arrangements/Incidental Music.

My ever-lovin' der Brucer and I have returned from the local cinema, where we observed an interesting phenomenon. Not the movie we watched, that was X2, which was a fun bit of fluff. The interesting phenomenon we observed was the crowd that had arrived to see the Disney/Pixar film, Finding Nemo, and how clear it was that they simply HAD to see that film! NOW!

The best example was while we were in the ticket line, or rather while I was in the line and der Brucer was parking the car. A girl of about five years of age and her grandmother were ahead of us. The young woman in the ticket booth told the grandmother that the earliest showing that wasn't sold out wouldn't be until nearly six in the evening (this was at about 4:20), and that no she could not get tickets for that showing at the matinee price. Grandmother was not happy with this, and wanted to leave, but this was not what the little girl wanted. The grandmother explained to the little girl that they would have to wait nearly two hours before they could see the film. The little girl considered this for a moment, but it became clear that she HAD to see the Finding Nemo, and she had to see it TODAY!

Now, at five years old, most children aren't really students of the cinematic arts. If they were, they would already have seen TFNM, and dancing dildoes would be a more common sight on the sidewalks every Halloween. No, this was clearly a case where the little girl and her friends had discussed whether they would see FN over the weekend, and it had been agreed that they all would. Anyone who missed seeing the film would not have done the right thing, and not be treated with respect after the weekend. It was also clear that Grandmother didn't take this fact into consideration. If she had, she would have planned their time better, knowing how quickly FN would sell out at every showing, matinee discounts be danged. But then, I doubt Grandmother was much of a devotee of the cinema, or she would have known these things in advance. (I don't know what her reaction would be to a troupe of dancing dildoes on the sidewalk at Halloween, or if she would have understood the reference.)

There is a moral or two to be gleaned from this incident. First, be aware of what is happening to your children and the culture they live in, or be prepared for total embarrasment. Second, if you don't have any children around, go see a movie on a weekday matinee instead of on a weekend. It's the easiest way to avoid confused Grandmothers.

S. Woody, we got to the movie theater today at about 12:15 p.m. and the showing of X-Men 2 that we were going to see started at 12:45. No problem; we got right in. There were signs up saying that the earliest available showing of Finding Nemo wasn't until 7:00 pm! It already had three sold out showings before 12:15. I saw more people leaving because FN wasn't available than people who stayed to see X-Men 2 (which was showing on one of the smaller screens available at this theater).

How I wish I could have been with all of you tonight at all of your fabulous outings all over the country. After I got home from work, DR MusicGuy and I had dinner and watched "Now Voyager" (which I had gotten on DVD for Christmas). What a great evening (although there were no celebrity sightings).

Good luck tomorrow with the recording session.

Jason - That is pretty impressive celebrity spotting. Although I thought Ms. Harris was wonderful in "The Man Who Came to Dinner", I doubt I would have recognized her at Joe Allen’s. Did you have help from BK or are you really that observant? Personally, I am famous for walking right past celebrities without recognizing them.

A few years ago, when I visited “The City,” I got in late and by the time I got checked into the hotel it was after ten. Although I was really tired, I decided to take a walk around the Theatre District before going to bed. I was walking past the Golden when I noticed they had barricades set up around the stage door, but the theater looked dark and there were no fans around. As I said, I was tired from the flight, so I was just kind of standing there puzzling over the dark theater, the barricades, and thinking to myself that I hadn’t seen this much crowd control at a theater since Liz did “Little Foxes”. Just then this woman and two guys came out of the stage door. They walked right up to me and stopped, and then just stood there. Finally I looked up at them to see if this was someone I knew. The woman said, “Hello,” so I said “Hello.” She kept standing there looking at me, so I forced my mind to focus on who this pushy broad could possibly be. Finally, I realized it was Patti Lapone and, I guess, “her people.” Well, first of all I hadn’t seen her in the show, and second of all I am not a fan, so I quickly tried to think of something to say. Unfortunately, what came out was “Oh it’s just you!”

Well, regardless of my opinion of Ms. Lapone, I would never intentionally say anything unkind to someone who had never done anything against me personally. For a moment we all stood there in a kind of embarrassed silence while I tried to think of something to say that would rescue the situation. However, afraid I would only say something that would make the whole situation worse, I merely turned on my heels and walked away leaving behind a rather confused Miss Lapone. I never did find out why there was no one else waiting around, why she was so late leaving the theater, or why they thought they needed barricades to protect her from a non-existent crowd.

TCB: I found Ms. Harris all by my lonesome. I have an eery, freakish ability to spot a celebrity (minor or major) from miles away. Actually, as I mentioned earlier, I'm big on observation, and I try to always associate a face with a name. I don't know how, but I've even recognized chorus people from Broadway shows, including a Mr. Andy Peck from Dance of the Vampires, who was covered from head to toe in body makeup in the show, but I recognized him right away from his headshot when I saw him in the Theatre District. I don't do it on purpose. It just happens.

Now, why can't I fall asleep? I guess I'm too excited about tomorrow's goings-on. :-)

Re: Patti LuPone. She was FABULOUS when I met her the first time...I mean, we're talking kissing and hugging and "Oh! You're wonderful, doll" and all that jazz. When I saw her in a reading last week, I went up to her to say hello and she totally snubbed me...twice! I actually had to touch her arm to get her to speak to me. I told her she did a marvelous job and that I was a big fan and all she could say was, "oh, thanks." Then she walked away.

I'm still a fan, but now I know where she got her reputation.

You could spread her on bread she's so sweet!

Now pick yourself up, dust yourself off and take some Sominex!

Posted by The Faith Healer @ 06/02/2003 12:43 AM PST

I couldn't sleep...
I took a Sominex,
But voices in my head kept saying,
"Go to Seymour!
Talk to Seymour!"

I drank some tea
But, gee, the feeling wasn't gone.
Seymour, sweetheart,
Tell me, darlin',
What's been goin' on?

Well, despite my efforts, I was not able to make it to Joe Allen last night so I am among the E&T. The show got out later than I thought and by 10:30 I doubted anyone would be left at JA's since there is a recording session this morning. I'm sure I missed a sparkling time. The show I saw, I Am My Own Wife is well worth the effort to see. It just got extended through July 20th and there is talk of a transfer, although it needs a small off-Broadway house, perhaps Minetta Lane when Talking Heads closes, or someplace similar.

This may be the last post for these here Sunday notes since BK is in the city and that usually means early notes.
