"BOTOXING THE NOTES"

Photo of Bruce Kimmel

bk's notes II

Well, dear readers, I’m afraid I must keep these here notes short once again – I have my first shoot today, in Encino, and we mustn’t be late to our first shoot, must we? We’re going to shoot a doctor giving botox and other facial treatments. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

Perhaps I’ll have a botox treatment while I’m there. Or perhaps I’ll have a detox treatment. Perhaps I’ll detox the botox, or vice versa and also versa vice. After we shoot the doctor (shoot as in film), then we’re going to some coffee place to shoot (as in film) some coffee goings on. Thursday we’re shooting something else and Friday we’re shooting yet something else. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?

How many of you dear readers have had botox treatments or detox treatments? Do you suppose anybody who plays for the Red Socks has had botox? Do you suppose anyone who’s gone to the School of Hard Knocks has had botox? Frankly, I would only have botox after eating lox and locking my valuables in a box. What the hell am I talking about?

Well, this is a fine set of notes, isn’t it? I feel these notes need a botox treatment. Listen here, you people, let’s all click on the Unseemly Button below so we can botox the detox and accentuate the positive.

I picked up the DVD of a nice movie entitled The Boy Who Could Fly. I’ve always had a soft spot for this film, even though I feel it makes one mistake that really harms it. I listened to the commentary track first, and will watch the film itself tonight. The commentary makes clear that the filmmakers don’t think they did a scene that harms the film, but I contend that they are wrong. More after I’ve watched it in its entirety.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button… oops (spoo, spelled backwards) we already did that, didn’t we? Well, then, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must botox the detox and accentuate the positive and work all the livelong day. Today’s topic of discussion: Normally, it would be Ask BK Day, but I’m not going to have time to answer your excellent questions, so let’s make it one of our Ask Dear Reader Days, the day in which you get to ask a dear reader anything you want and they must answer in a forthright or fifthleft manner. Also, we can have a clothing report as well. I’ll be checking in when I’m done with the shoot, so please let there be lots of posts for me to read.

- Bruce Kimmel

The good thing about BK working is that the notes are posted early!

What is this show that films everything from botox to coffee?

Interesting that yesterdy's topic was nudity and today's is clothing. Something for everyone!

Posted by William E. Lurie @ 07/09/2003 07:37 AM PST

WEL, if they're proceeding alphabetically, we can next expect to hear about diapers and the anguish of men named "Eggbert."

BK, I have also always had a soft spot for The Boy Who Could Fly, though I can't help wondering if it would hold up for me now (haven't seen it since I was around 16). I'm wondering which scene you think harms the film: perhaps it involves Lucy's dream about her father?

Oh, clothing report!

Totally rad mini
Pink blouse with lots of bitchen ruffles
Killer patterned tights
Flats, fer sure
Awesome new headband (just got it at the Galleria last weekend!)
Diamond earrings Daddy got me for my Sweet 16
Just, like, the tiniest spritz of Love's Baby Soft perfume

Well, the heat wave seems to have broken (at least for a while) here in NYC. I'm wearing blue jeans, a maroon T-shirt w/my company's logo on it (from a company picnic a few years ago), white socks and blue canvas deck shoes.

Didn't post yesterday but I never did appear nude on stage or in public.

Saw the Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci last night. Seems more like an academic excercise than a play. It was interesting at points but doesn't really work (IMHO). I'm seeing the revival of Master Harold...and The Boys tonight.

hmmmmmm...Lulu, do you work in the cubicle next to me?

Questions for DR's? Hmmmm...they will come to me as the day goes on, I am sure.

THE BOY WHO COULD FLY. I remember liking this movie, Jay Underwood is very good. But I also remember feeling like it did something wrong. The parts I like are really the only things I remember, so I am looking forward to the full report tomorrow.

A movie sort of like it...and one that I LIKE A LOT is called "Three Wishes" with Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Patrick Swayze - I know, I know. Does anyone else like this movie?
Oh, a question for the DR...it didn't take as long as I thought it would.

Do you think they offer sailors botox on the docks?

Posted by Jrand52 @ 07/09/2003 08:44 AM PST

BK et al-

There is a wonderful piece in today's New York Times about JOE ALLEN. YES-the Joe Allen who owns BK's favorite haunting ground Restaurant.Alex Witchel reports on Joe Allen's latest foray in Ogunquit,Maine. He also
owns restaurants in London,Paris,Miami Beach and of course New York.Check it out.

All of this Botox and locks, and docks makes me feel like I am in Dr. Seuss land! What fun!

Never having appeared nude in public anywhere but the Gold's Gym locker room I didn't post yesterday either..or did I post yesterday. My mind is going.

Just started reading BENJAMIN KRITZER yesterday while on one of the machines at the gym (fully clothed). Am very much enjoying it!

Good Morning All! Today I am wearing black jeans and my black One From Column A (What is it fish?) t-shirt. Pretty low key today :)

Posted by JB aka JK @ 07/09/2003 09:45 AM PST

As we speak, or rather, as I type, I am wearing the following:

A white baseball hat, my Treble Choir teeshirt that says "Not Just Your Average Shower Diva" on it, jean shorts, and cushy Adidas sandals that I am officially in love with.

I just got my permit, which is tres cool, as I just randomly decided to go get it without barely having studied.

AAAAAND, my parents, being super cool, have gotten me box seat tix to go see the Millie tour with 3 friends on my birthday! So I am immensly happy...this was a great day!

No, I haven't ever gotten botox, as I am only 15 and hardly need it. Ask Readers...How many of you are retired? Where do you live? East coast, West coast, Timbuktu, Canada, etc...

That was quite the long post.

Posted by Sarah @ 07/09/2003 09:46 AM PST

Juliana just sold her first official HHW tickets! Don't forget to buy your HHW baseball cap, Sarah!

Indiana here...not all of my life...just all of my life, so far.

Posted by Jrand52 @ 07/09/2003 09:52 AM PST

I just purchased several HHW items from the shopping section. Very fun!

Flannel boxers and a t-shirt, almost ready to don the walking shorts and shoes and going out for a mid-morning jaunt. Have you ever been jaunting? Have you ever tried?

Posted by Matthew @ 07/09/2003 09:55 AM PST

Black Dockers walking shorts, above the knee since I don't have a rap engagement today.

Escher-patterned short sleeve shirt, white crew socks, brown-black-blue Nike hightops, some kind of boxers.

The film "The Tenant" has been cropping up in our discussions of late. The other night, I rented a movie with my wife, called "The Ring". At one point in the film (actually in the outtakes, featured on the DVD), there is a scene that takes place in a video rental store, where "the tape" is shown on a shelf, and right next to it is - you guessed it - "The Tenant".

Has anyone else seen "The Ring"? Or the film that inspired it, "Ringu"? Any thoughts to share?

Oh, and as to yesterday's discussion, I have never appeared nude onstage, though in my first community theatre role, I appeared in nothing but a pair of boxer shorts for the entirety of a play called "I Take This Man". Anyone heard of it?

Now, *would* I appear nude onstage in a show? I'm not so sure. There has been talk of our company producing THE FULL MONTY, when it becomes available to amateur groups. I'd have to think about it...

I like Matthew's Olivia Newton-John/John Farrar reference. To keep it in a musical theatre vein, can anyone name a stage or movie musical(s) that featured him as a songwriter/composer?

Posted by Dave @ 07/09/2003 10:41 AM PST

Bruce:

You said that you would reveal today the rationale behind your asking us about our adventures in public nudity, but there was no hint of it in your notes today. Whassup with that?

Posted by Jay @ 07/09/2003 10:48 AM PST

DR Dave- I've seen The Ring twice. It's really strange, typical horror movie, but it still works. It's a very visual movie, not too much psychological haunting, which is the kind I like :) Doesn't give me nightmares. The first time I saw it, I was so paranoid about not being up against a wall while watching it that I didn't tie together the storyline, and it wasn't too scary. The second time, since I knew what was happening, I had more time to break it down and tie the clues together, and it frightened me much more...it's a good movie though. The son, I think its another Culkin kid, is very haunting, one of my favorite parts of the movie.

I really want to see Ringu...it looks better.

Lulu ROTFLMAO!!! (Rolling on the floor, laughing my *** off in Internet lingo).

Posted by Ben @ 07/09/2003 12:23 PM PST

Dave- John Farrar wrote music and lyrics to "You're the One That I Wnat" and "Hopelessly Devoted To You" for the movie version of "Grease" and subsiquent other stages of the musical after the movie. (both of which don't work well on stage, of course)

I had a double jaunt today. After my initial hour-long jaunt,I got home and found the door had been locked. Usually, when my cousin and I go out walking (or jaunting in this case) we leave the door open and the rule is not to lock it if you find it open, etc etc... so to make a long story short, there's no way to get in the house, so I proceeded my unplanned jaunt (another 45 minutes) to my cousin's office. After I got there, the scenero became quite funny and we laughed. Needless to say, I was quite ticked off when I found the door locked. I think these unplanned jaunts today warrent a carb-filled frappucino. Shower time! Thanks for listening.

I, too, was wondering about the purpose of the public nudity question yesterday. And, since BK made no mention of it in his notes, I was going to ask, but since Ask BK Day has been preempted, I can’t ask. So, now I will remain confused and uninformed (which is actually my natural state, so no harm done).

Lulu - What an amazing coincidence! I am actually wearing nothing even remotely similar to your outfit. Gee, what were the chances? Actually, I’m wearing blue jeans, tidy whities, black socks, walking shoes, and… nothing else.

Good question Jrand, but “do egotistical docs put botox in their….?”

I had forgotten about THE Boy Who Could Fly. As I remember, that was a very sweet movie.

Posted by TCB @ 07/09/2003 12:35 PM PST

Ben, glad you liked it! :)

Matthew, with your copious use of the word jaunt, I wonder if you've ever seen the '70s British TV show The Tomorrow People?

In a nutshell, a group of teens and pre-teens with strange mental powers "jaunt" (teleport) their way through time and the universe in their pursuit of evildoers everywhere. Pretty neat.

Posted by Lulu @ 07/09/2003 12:36 PM PST

LOL, TCB! I believe the more common phrasing is "tighty whities," though I'm sure that all and sundry here are pleased as punch to know that you keep your whities "tidy." :)

Posted by Lulu @ 07/09/2003 12:38 PM PST

LOL - Lulu... that was great. It was cleaner than what I was going to post. Let's just leave it at that. I've never seen the aforementioned British TV show, I'm sure it's a hoot.

Posted by Matthew @ 07/09/2003 12:41 PM PST

I just had an adrenaline rush over nothing. The news said that we were in a tornado warning. Now I have spent half of my life in Oklahoma. I live for tornados. They make my week. Moving to DC, I found that they forever say we're getting tornadoes, but do we? No. So I hoped and hoped and made cookies in the midst of my hoping, and what happens? Nothing. I despise weather people.

Lulu, that was funny ;)

TCB, nice botox splice. We should get a whole list of these going.

Posted by Sarah @ 07/09/2003 12:47 PM PST

LOL, Lulu! So who is going to teach my Spellchecker that "tighty" is a word?

Posted by TCB @ 07/09/2003 12:53 PM PST

Well, Matthew is partially correct in his answer. John Farrar *did* write the aforementioned songs for the GREASE movie, and those songs have been used in some subsequent stage versions. But he also has written explicitly for the stage. Can you name the show(s)?

And, can you name what other movie(s) features his song(s)?

BTW, as one who believes that the movie version of GREASE is vastly superior to the stage version, I'm curious as to why you feel the movie songs are less successful than their stage counterparts?

Sarah, I thought that the young boy in "The Ring" was another Culkin kid, too, but it wasn't.

Posted by Dave @ 07/09/2003 01:11 PM PST

Sarah, I was retired from my job as a stay at home mother when my children grew up. My husband is retired which is nice for me. We live in Ashland, Oregon. Recently we did a "roll call". Scroll down to search entries and type in roll call, then click on May 30th.

Clothing, just my usual. Since I just returned from hiking, I'm wearing my hiking jeans and a short purple t-shirt plus my blue Thor-Lo socks.

Posted by Jane @ 07/09/2003 01:12 PM PST

Dave - comparing the stage and movie versions of "Grease" is like apples and oranges. They are such different entities. It's like the movie version of Cabaret being compared to the stage version. You really can't. And to try would be like a an healthy jaunt down the wrong path. They are all superior in their own right.

Posted by Matthew @ 07/09/2003 01:18 PM PST

The John Farrar work for the stage is probably Heathcliff, with lyrics by Tim Rice. It played Birmingham, which is where my first musical played.

I think I speak for many when I say that the Hainsie/Kimlet brigade LIVES for reports of your academic endeavors.

Posted by Jay @ 07/09/2003 01:56 PM PST

OK, here goes...

I was going to call my teacher the somewhat overweight teacher who wears plastic flowers in her hair, but she didn't have any plastic flowers in her hair today. However, she was wearing some very stunning bright orange earrings that were at least three inches long and that clashed beautifully with her pink blouse. She told us all about how she lives in a studio apartment and has four grandchildren (three boys and one girl). She was married to an identical twin, but is now divorced. She is Catholic, and her daughter married a Jew.

I see my mom circling the parking lot looking for me, so I'd better finish my report at home.

Posted by Sandra @ 07/09/2003 01:57 PM PST

If I had read the notes three hours ago, I would have been wearing a blu Speedo as I spent the afternoon at a friend's pool. However, as I'm having an early dinner with a friend and then going to see GOD'S FAVORITE tonight, I'm in an orange/coral sports shirt and khakis.

I do want to see THE TENANT. I've always been curious about it, but never watched it. I've caught bits and pieces of it on cable before (Seems like Bravo showed it years ago, and I caught a bit of it, but since I hadn't started at the beginning, turnedf it off.)

Are others of you like me in that you won't come into a movie you've never seen before after it's started? Just wondering?

Matt H.- I LOVED God's Favorite when my school did it this year, it made me so mad that I hadn't auditioned! Very funny. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope that you think it's as funny as I thought it was, because if you don't, i'll look stupid, huh. :)

Today we learned about listening. I'm not really sure what exactly we learned about listening because I wasn't listening. See the irony there?

I have an assignment: dress up funny and walk around in public and note people's reactions. Maybe Dear Reader Kerry can help me with this.

My classmates and I are still getting acquainted, but one of them was in my Career Exploration class. I don't think I ever posted about her. She was the teacher who could no longer teach because of a domestic violence charge. She dropped the class about halfway through. She had also started to take it the semester before, but dropped it. Two cheese slices says she'll drop Communications within three weeks.

Posted by Sandra @ 07/09/2003 02:27 PM PST

Dear Reader Matt H.:

No, you are not alone. I'm hoping you have seen ANNIE HALL, as it contains a scene that captures our shared abhorrence of entering the screening of a film after it has already begun.

Posted by Jay @ 07/09/2003 02:27 PM PST

Dear Reader Sandra:

I'll see your two cheese slices and raise you by a ham chunk.

Posted by Jay @ 07/09/2003 02:29 PM PST

Clothes check: My gray, Zen-Mickey mouse t-shirt, black running shorts, and sport socks... -I'm home between shows right now.

-Not a bad matinee for the first day back after the "weekend".

As for DR Questions:

During my upcoming trip I will be visting Australia (Gold Coast, Melbourne and Syndey); Orlando, New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles. How many possible H/K get-togethers could there be? *I get at least one free day in each city, and from what I can tell, I'll also be available for dinner. I know that DR Tom and I are hoping to get together in Oz, but what about the other cities?

Oh, and I guess this leads to another question:

The other day we traded worst job stories. Now what about dream job stories? - either short term or long term.

For me, this upcoming audition tour sure is looking like a dream job!

Xanadu of course.
Farrar was a member of local pop group "The Strangers" here in Melbourne in the 1960s. He also for a time joined Marvin & Welch of UK group "The Shadows". He is great guitarist. His wife Pat Carroll appeared on the same Oz TV shows as did the young Olivia NJ. Pat covered the Eurovision winning song "All Kinds Of Everything" and made the top 10 with her version.

The Tenant:

Although I haven't seen it in years it really is a bizare film with a great cast. I like that type of film and enjoyed it. I think I saw it in the theater when it came out.

This is a film you must, must must (that's three musts) view from the begining or you will not understand what happens through the course of the film or the ending. Also do not reveal what happens or it will ruin it for others.

some of the wonderful actors in the film Isabele Adjani (2 time oscar nominee), Melvyn Douglas (2 time oscar winner), Shelly Winters (2 time oscar winner), Jo Van Fleet (oscar winner), Lila Kedrova (oscar winner). Roman Polansky (oscar winner) and Claude Dauphin is the most notable other name of a primarily French cast (Film was made in France)

Polansky also directed and co-wrote the screenplay

Along with Repulsion& Rosemary's Baby & The Tenant is part of a loose trilogy by Roman Polanski dealing with the horrors faced by apartment/city dwellers.

Dear BK: Over the years, I've heard a great deal about a Kurt Weill musical called Love Life. Unfortunately, heard ABOUT is as far as it goes, as the musical itself was never recorded (to my knowledge). Have you ever heard any of the music from Love Life, and if so, what was your impression?

DR Arnold Brockman made mention earlier of an article in the NYT, regarding restarateur Joe Allen's foray into Maine. I sent the link to our own BK earlier, but if anyone else is interested, just click on my name below. It's an interesting read.

As for what I'm wearing, I've gone absolutely retro today because of the heat, and am in compliance with yesterday's topic by wearing absolutely nothing! Isn't that just too cool? Well, it's comfy.

My Ask Dear Readers question is for everyone:

Where were you born and where have you lived?

If you've moved 20 times in 20 (or even less years), feel free to say, "I moved around a lot during this time." I'll start: I was born in Fort Rucker, Alabama...let me qualify that: my dad was stationed there in the army. It wasn't his choice. We then moved to Georgia, California, Texas and Germany before I was five years old. We lived there for three years and when I was seven we moved to Colorado. We stayed there till I was ten when we moved here to Olympia, where my parents are still living.

Otherwise, I'm here at work in a pair of shorts that I think are really swimming shorts...they have the mesh lining [and I am wearing underwear--tighty (and tidy) whities]. It has four pockets (the shorts, not my undies), two pockets in the regular places but are mesh lined and two pockets with flaps and buttons that are on the side of the legs. On my feet I have my asics shoes and footie socks and am topped off with my Pierce County AIDS Walk t-shirt from 1996.

Posted by George @ 07/09/2003 06:01 PM PST

I know two songs from Love Life. I have absolutely no idea when I last heard "Green-up Time," but I can still hum it easily. I often think of the tune when things finally green up around here, which is sometime in May. The other song is "Here I'll Stay," which is the title of Julie Andrews' CD of Alan Jay Lerner songs. I used the opportunity to look at some dusty Kurt Weill LPs. If I ever get my phonograph fixed, I'll listen to A Kurt Weill Cabaret (Martha Schlamme, whom my dad adored; and Will Holt), which was a favorite; and to Down in the Valley and Johnny Johnson, neither of which I remember very well. It was interesting to see that the cast of Johnny Johnson included Jane (Agnes Gooch) Connell.

I am dressed for winter. Warm warm warm.
I have lived within 30 miles of Melbourne Australia all my life except for a 12 months period (1973) when I lived in London - Hampstead and then Finsbury Park area.

Mike Shayne: No! Not that Pat Carroll. I think Pat Farrar may have been involved with the one time Olivia retail enterprise "Koala Blue" in LA.

One of my dream jobs, although it didn't pay was doing radio during my years at college. And one of my dreams fulfilled right now, again, even though I don't get paid, is appearing on BBC Wales approximately every two weeks talking very briefly about New York theatre that I have seen. I love radio and regret that most radio in the states is of less than stellar quality.

I have lived in very few places. I was born in Detroit, Michigan, lived in Lincoln Park and Wyandotte until we moved to Coon Rapids, Minnesota where I grew up. I then moved to Minneapolis (with a brief stop in Maplewood, a suburb of Saint Paul) where I lived until I moved to New York City (23 years ago on August 28, 1980). I have been here ever since and I have lived in the same apartment for 20 of those 23 years. Before that I lived in 4 apartments over 2 1/2 years.

I LOVE mushrooms and pepperoni on my pizza.

DR Jose: When you're in NYC, drop me a note or call me and we can have dinner or coffee or something. A more leisurely meeting than our one and only meeting in the lobby of the State Theatre before the performance of Night Music this past winter.

I am now sitting at my computer in a t-shirt and tighty greyies. No, they are not in need of washing, they are Hanes colored underwear. Isn't it great to have a home computer. You can sit in front of it in your underwear and no one knows - unless you tell them :-) I am about to re-install a program that stopped working yesterday. I have uninstalled it and hope that the re-install will fix any problem. Till tomorrow! And I think we will have very early notes if Mr. BK has to be in the Hills of Beverly at 8am CA time.

I am wearing a white lacy Edwardian dress, a floral fichu, old-fashioned lace-up boots, a bonnet, and my grandmother's white gloves. We went to the mall to buy the hat and a reticule and take note of people's reactions when they saw me dressed like an Edwardian lady. This is one of the most interesting assignments I've ever had, but I don't know what it has to do with communications.

Just got back from Kings Dominion with a couple of friends, hence the late posting...it was loads of fun. The best ride without a doubt was the Outer Limits one where one goes through a UFO (very Kritzerland) into an indoor roller coaster and plunges into a downward spiral of darkness, broken intermittently by eerie lights.

I have lived in Virginia for most of my life. Lived in Alexandria from birth to age 9, in Woodbridge from 9 to 18, in Brooklyn, NY (went to AADA for a year) from 18-19 and back in Woodbridge from 19 til now. Dream job--Broadway actress/singer or a writer, or both, although there are other jobs within the theatre and literary industries that appeal to me.

Jose--did you go to the University of Richmond? I have a friend who goes there now.

Just got in from GOD'S FAVORITE, and it was funny. There is a sag in the middle of the first act where there is a lot of talk and not much of it is Neil Simon-funny, but the second act is very good, and it ends quite wonderfully. I had read the play years ago, but it was wonderful seeing it done on-stage. Three friends were in the show, so that made it an even greater pleasure.

I've lived:

Born in Boston, Mass
Rockland, Mass from birth-5
Edmond, Oklahoma 5-8
Ashburn, Virginia, 8-10
Edmond, Oklahoma, 10-12
Ashburn, Virginia, 12-16

And here I am, still in Ashburn...I actually lied, I'm not 16 yet, but I will be in a month, so I'm just, er, rounding up. Sandra, your outfit sounds very pretty indeed.

Maya- I haven't been to Kings Dominion since I was 8...I'm sure it's different, :), but it was a blast when I was there! I pass it all the time, I should stop in sometime.

It's neat to have so many people so close who post on this board-type-thing!...I just said neat...I feel like a Brady, :)

Maya - I went to Virginia Commonwealth University, Class of 1992 (and 1991, as it turns out, but that's too complicated a story for right now).

I haven't been back to KD since I worked there for two months two years ago - it was the first year of the Supersonic Launch Coaster - WOW!!!!!

*Do you remember the stories about when the Outer Limits ride first opened? The test dummies kept coming out of the rides with no heads!!! And then they had to take the side head support cushions out of the seats since people were getting bruised and banged up as their heads were bounced from side to side. BUT it is a great ride, and riding in the dark really adds to the sense of speed. Do you do the new Drop Zone?

And when I was in high school, I played the butler in God's Favorite. We had to modify the script a little bit - I was a Spanish butler, and the maid came from the Deep South. -My school was "minority challenged". Well... For my second act costume, they burned an old pair of my uniform pants - polyester uniform pants. OUCH!! That's when I found out polyester is a plastic product - the burned "bits" were nice and sharp, and scratchy. But it was fun putting a lighter to my uniform!

DR Sarah - So is their a "theme" between Edmond, OK and Ashburn, VA?

And was it King's Dominion when you were last there? Or Paramount King's Dominion? -You guys are making me feel old! ;-)

Dear esteemed, mobile, lithe, and reality-based BK --

Well, I'm back from my required hall pass, having finished my performance in Oakland and work commitments in Los Angeles. I have reviewed the past week, so as not to be totally slack and lax.......and I will henceforth and herewith answer the highpoints of the questions of the past 6 days.

1. "Self" describing songs: "Get Happy," "Best Of Times," "Open A New Window," "Lucky In Love."

2. My favorite donut is just an original raised glazed, from Krispy Kreme.

3. The worst job I ever had was stuffing the warranty packets for new customers at the Suzuki Motorcycle Company in La Mirada, Calif.

4. OK, even though it's late, I just did a major booty shake for dear BK and all the H/Ks.

5. Kind of a dull sot I guess, but no I've never appeared nude in a production or photo. Now then, outrageous costumes??? That's a different story!

6. I'm in my "fly home" clothes still this evening....khakis, a beautiful pink lightweight shirt that Kerry got me, Rockport deck shoes, and midnight blue briefs.

Born -- Long Beach, Calif.
Santa Ana, Fullerton, Pico Rivera for school years.
Then, Hollywood, San Francisco, Melbourne (OZ), Stamford Conn., Hollywood, Phoenix now for 30 years.

That's it folks....I'm caught up, and feel I've accounted for myself.

BK, I'm sorry I couldn't contact you and break bread on this past trip, but I had no car, and as it turned out you have been busy with this new extravaganza the past 2 days. Hopefully, next time!!

DR Jose: The only real connection between Edmond and Ashburn is that my dad's work has offices in those places...he just kept getting switched...I have to admit, I liked Oklahoma much better...hotter, people are nicer, and just a happier place. But here is fine, I like it.

And the park is called PKD, but no one uses the Paramount when saying the title...pretty much reserved for commercials and fliers, :)

S. Woody---
Since it is not "Ask BK Day" today I can answer part of your question. Several "Love Life" songs are on the Ben Bagley revisited albums and a couple are on other compilation albums so about half the score is recorded. Allegedly there is one song that Lerner would not allow to be recorded because he later used it again with different music. With so many shows having multiple studio recordings in addition to original cast recordings, it is a shame that someone does not do a "Love Life" CD. [The show keeps popping up on a list of shows Encores is considering, but it has not made the final cut so far.]
