08/03/2003:
"THE HOT HOUSE"

Photo of Bruce Kimmel

bk's notes II

Well, dear readers, you won’t believe it – I can barely believe it myself and yet I must because it is true. What can I barely believe? Well, I’ll tell you what I can barely believe because why should I keep such things from you? Yesterday, I turned on the air conditioning when I left so that the house would be nice and cool upon my return. Just prior to the arrival of dear readers Laura and Sandra I came to the realization that the house wasn’t so nice and cool and was, in fact, nice and hot. I looked at the thermostat, and instead of seeing the seventy-two degrees I’d set it for, it said eight-two degrees. I then came to the realization that despite the fact that I could hear the fan blowing nothing was coming through the vents. I had to call my air conditioning people and they will be out tomorrow to fix it. Meanwhile, it is quite warm in my home. Isn’t that a fine story about the hot house?

Last night, dear readers Laura and Sandra and myself had supper at Du-Par’s and then went to the John Anson Ford theater to see the West Hollywood Orchestra with special guest, Mr. Jason Graae in an evening of music from the movies. It was a delightful concert and Mr. Graae was, as always, in top form – singing beautifully and being his usual hilarious self. He even did my arrangement of the Sherman Brothers nonsense words medley, which went over very well. Mr. Richard Sherman was in attendance, and we had a very nice chat, and he was quite candid about the album that I did of his music and what had ultimately been done to both myself and the album. I also saw several other people I knew, and afterwards we went back and spent time with Mr. Jason Graae. All in all, a fine time was had by one and all and also all and one.

Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because, despite the fact that it is Sunday, I must leave the house shortly and do some work.

Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, it is Sunday and yet I must go do some work with Mr. Grant Geissman, because we simply must finish our album and send it off to be mastered. Then I shall come home and do some more work on Kritzer three. Yesterday, I went into storage and I found my scrapbook from high school. Well, as good as my memory is of those days, I had one set of dates wrong, and I like those sorts of details to be right, so I now have to move a few things around – a pain, but one must do what one must do. In actuality, it will help certain things, but it gets a bit confusing since some of the stuff I have to move will move into the upcoming chapter that I haven’t even started on yet.

Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must work, work some more, and then dine with the Joneses. I was rather amazed to see the lovely number of posts yesterday – when I left the house there were forty-two posts, and when I got home there were over one hundred posts. Well, I am here to tell you that no other chat board gets such a number of posts on the weekend. I know there were a couple of questions asked of me in yesterday’s posts, so rather than try to find them, could you simply ask them again today and I shall answer them. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you get to discuss any old thing your collective hearts desire. So, post away, and I hope upon my return there will be lots of posts for my mental delectation.

- Bruce Kimmel

Good morning, Bk and one and all, and all and one. BK, I know of the heat in the house you speak of. The air conditioning on our second floor has been on the fritz (oh, a Benjamin Kritzer reference!) for about six years. Yes, you heard me, six years. We've had many an air conditioning repair man out to fix it, but they've all failed miserably. It seems there had been some mistake done in the vents when the house was renovated, and it is now impossible to fix without tearing down walls and ceilings. So, while our downstairs is as cool as a desert island with an ocean breeze, our upstairs is as hot and humid as a tropical jungle, without the beautiful chirping birds and wild flowers to enjoy. We resort to electric fans in each of the bedrooms, but to no avail. It is unbearably hot!

Wow. I'm first today!

When's the next chat?

Posted by Noel @ 08/03/2003 09:35 AM PST

Guess who JUST got out of bed here on the EAST coast. I am so lazy.

And I have a plan. Because I don't have time to go out and buy a palm-sized Stun Gun (although it was a great idea :), I'm merely going to suggest that I take the little kid over to my house, down the road. We stil have all the baby toys that my brother and sisters and I used, and I'm sure he'd be happy there. A fabulous plan if you ask me.

I'm going to go driving now. Wish me luck that I don't break anything. Or anyone.

Posted by Sarah @ 08/03/2003 09:56 AM PST

Susan, to answer your question from the end of yesterday's posts (even though it wasn't even a couple of hours ago), yes, my Japanese cast recording of ALW's "The Phantom of the Opera" is in Japanese. So are my Japanese cast recordings of "Hair" and "Beauty and the Beast"! I also have the Korean cast of "Evita" and several other foreign language recordings.

If the chat is tonight, I probably won't be able to be there. I'm off to the movies right now with my niece (a double-bill), then to my parents' house where a friend of theirs is visiting from Oregon. My parents and the friend Judy (and her former husband) were all friends in Germany more than 30 years ago when my dad (and Judy's former husband) were in the army together. They've remained friends all this time (except for Judy's former husband...I don't know what happened to him).

Have a good day, all and have a good chat! Post away, Possums! (a Dame Edna reference!)

I will post away on this sultry day in New York. I went to Theatre Central to buy four tickets for my Anthony's show in the Fringe Festival (his parents and aunt and uncle are coming). I was going to do some other errands before the big HK get-together this evening at Joe Allen's but it's so steamy outside that I will refrain from errands so that I may be bright and chipper for our soiree tonight.

George, if I may be so presumptuous as to speak for BK, there is no chat tonight because we East Coasters are celebrating something. He didn't announce when the chat would take place but I remember him saying that it would not happen tonight.

Just wanted to say hi. I must hie myself away and retrieve my freshly laundered clothing from the dryers. Can you believe that the laundromat was so busy that I had to wait thirty...yes, THIRTY...minutes for a dryer? And as fate would have it, I needed a second one and had to wait another ten minutes for that one. THIS is why I hate doing laundry in NYC.

Oh, well...its better than doing laundry in New Hope, PA, right?

I know some of you are disinclined to register with the New York Times to read its stories on-line, but this column by Frank Rich on Mel Gibson and his movie "The Passion" is very disturbing, indeed.

Has anyone noticed that its already 3 in the afternoon and we only have 9 posts? How can we expect to have a fifth day over 100 posts if we don't get off our collective butt-cheeks (to quote our very own BK) and POST!!!

Posted by Jason @ 08/03/2003 11:59 AM PST

Well it is Sunday at last.

Of course that means that tomorrow is MONDAY.

Poor DR Susan, what an ordeal. Perhaps something you said to the builders when the house was renovated made them think you wanted it that way. Were you very specific? There have been theatres built without dressing rooms, you know...all because someone forgot.

Have fun at the NYC get together this evening! We expect to hear all about it manana.

Only ninety posts to go - a piece of cake. I'm happy to report that all vocals are comped and everyone sounds amazing and we will begin mixing tomorrow or Tuesday, and we will be finished next Sunday.

DR George, thank you for answering my question of (very very) early this morning about the Japanese cast recording of Phantom. My interest, you see, is that I speak Japanese, in fact I lived in Japan for many years. While there, I saw Fiddler on the Roof in Japanese and just loved it. I would love to hear Phantom in Japanese, or Hair, or Beauty and the Beast. Wherever did you find these gems?

To DR Jay, and to any other kind DR who tries to link us to an article from the NY Times. If we are not a registered subscriber, then the link will not work for us. (Or at least it has never worked for me!) It only brings up a NY Times registration screen. It is indeed frustrating! Does anyone know a way around this? Perhaps, DR Jay, you could cut and paste the article into your post?

Posted by Susan @ 08/03/2003 12:54 PM PST

Unfortunately, we cannot post entire articles here - so you either have to register, or we can have the gist of the article.

Posted by bk @ 08/03/2003 12:56 PM PST

DR Susan..

Cutting and pasting the entire article would be unseemly as it breaks so many fershluganah laws it would make my head spin :) But.. A few quotes or a paragraph might be nice...

Posted by Craig @ 08/03/2003 12:57 PM PST

The gist or a few paragraphs or quotes would be nice. Indeed, pasting the entire article would be unseemly. How silly of me to suggest it! Besides, who has time to read an entire NY Times article when there are so many HHW posts to read every day! ;-)

Posted by Susan @ 08/03/2003 01:02 PM PST

I have to say that I have not received any spam whatsoever as a result of my having registered on the New York Times site.

In short, Mr. Rich's column disproves any notion that anti-semitism does not exist in today's world. "The Passion," it appears, points to the Jews as being guilty of Jesus' death, despite the teachings of Vatican II. Perhaps more disturbing is the selective manner in which individuals are being invited to advance screenings of a rough cut of the film. Care to guess which ethnic group is being excluded?

Posted by Jay @ 08/03/2003 01:03 PM PST

I'll chime in and say that I've been a "registered" NY Times consumer for several years and have never linked any spam to this association.

It's free, and it's worth it! : )

I know just what bk is going through with the air conditioning. Mine has been very erratic, starting out OK but by mid afternoon failing to keep up with the thermostat. I suspect the freon has leaked out, and the system is only two years old! [sigh] My last central air system lasted twenty years and never needed the freon to be reinstalled.

We've been lucky on the East Coast to have had the coolest and wettest summer in many years, so I've put off calling anyone about my AC. I've been able to turn on my attic fan, open the windows and keep the house cool that way. But if we have an Indian summer, I will need to call someone about it.

Also been having a major DVD watching jag: I WANT TO LIVE, THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES, ADAPTATION, and now LAWRENCE OF ARABIA.

Ahh, at long last a nice cool
day around here! Today will
be the first day in 3 weeks to
stay below 90 degrees (I
know, that itself would be a
wonderful respite for our AZ
DR's), and we had 5 straight
days of 100 degrees earlier in
the week. We're used to some
summer heat, but this has
been one heck of a stretch.

Anyway, I'm off to spend this
oh-so-comfortable afternoon
at a BBQ with some of my
summer stock friends. Hope
all y'all have a faboo time at
Joe Allen's. Mmmm... wish I
could be there to enjoy not only
the wonderful company, but
also their exquisite jumbo
scallops.

Dear BK: Can you share more details about last night's concert? What material did Mr. Graae perform? Was he on stage the whole evening or just a portion? Details, details, we want them now!

FYI, I've decided at the last minute to go to tonight's performance of MY FAIR LADY at the Hollywood Bowl. The cast includes John Lithgow, Melissa Errico, Roger Daltrey (as Alfred Doolittle, in a bit of stunt casting), Rosemary Harris and Kevin Earley (a real comer who appears on L.A. stages with some frequency and whose career I have been following.)

Dear BK A couple of days ago, several of us were inquiring about the real Brent Barrett. What is like in person? Is he good to work with? Approacable to his fans? We want to know all, DR BK.

DR Susan: "dress circle" in London often sells foreign language cast CDs - including Japanese language versions. As some DRs and Dear lurkers know, one of my favourites is the Japanese language version of Harold Rome's "Gone With The Wind" - "Scarlett".

Have a wonderful time tongith and please convery my congratulations, best wishes to the happy couple and friends.

It's pre- breakfast here - thus I am trouble with my tongith and my convery. Maybe it was TCB's mention of BB that confused me. Heaven only knows what would happen if Spacey had been mentioned as well.

Just read Jed's post above. Are they now making an "Exquisite" meal from elephant parts. (A sort of Mike Nesmith reference).Poor Jumbo.

Matt H. Isn't "Lawrence" wonderful - has not dated at all. I have also found the "Lawrence After Arabia" move of particular interest given the current turn of events in the oil nations.

Many posts are expected tonight - late! there should be much to tell from those who dine on Sundays in NYC.

Ron: I have no real way of knowing what it will take to truly be the most popular site on all the Internet, but whatever it is I hope we never achieve it because then I won't be able to use my line anymore.

Brent B. is one of the sweetest and most genuine sorts ever - totally accessble to friends and fans alike.

Jason was on for the second half of the show. He opened with All I Care About is Love, backed by the Fois Graaes. He sang On the Street Where You Live, a very funny version of My Funny Valentine, Tchaikovsky from Lady in the Dark - he played his oboe along with the concertmaster in a very nice selection from Schindler's List (yes, Virginia, it was done straight), he did the Sherman Brothers medley - I'm sure I'm leaving out something - oh, yes 76 Trombones was the finale.

I think it was yesterday that a DR posted about Deep Discount DVD being a little slack with correspondence. Their international mail has been woeful and some parcels have been sent sea mail even though airmail has been paid. They do seem to be sorting themselves out and have written apologies to customers in the last week. I received my copies of "Follies" and "The Legend of 1900" today. Is anyone out there familiar with 1900. I saw it a few years back on video and loved it. I am also a fan of "Cinema Paradiso" - maybe both movies are too sentimental for some but I really have enjoyed them. "Everybody's Fine" was also quite a pleasant movie from the same director (Tornatore).

What a horrificly BLAH day. I did indeed babysit, and, thank God, Neither Mr. Pickett or the disgusting drunk were present at the party. It seems Mr. Pickett had a previous engagement, and the drunk was stuck on a layover in Chicago. Tooooooo bad, :)

All partygoers were drunk, and I was given $100 for 3 different jobs. Tres, tres fabulous.

Where are we all? Perhaps the fact that it's Sunday has something to do with it? Or that my fellow East Coasters have gone a partaying with each other? Who knows.

BK, what is your most embarassing moment?

Jennifer: I don't know about the BB4 Stooges -- Apparently, Robert was very critical of Nathan last night saying he showed he didn't have any care for Jee's feelings as he was working-out in the yard while Jee was setting up his ceremonial site to honor his father's memory. This is the same Robert who sniggered as Justin and Dana trashed Nathan for reading the Bible. Nathan did not interrupte or show any disrespect for Jee during the ceremony and THAT's all that matters, I think.

Those three bozos, plus Dana, do nothing but tear everyone else down...and then wonder why others are out to get them. Dana has been campaigning against Jun, hoping she can work a deal to stay (as IF!!)

Is that enough BB4? Today is the actual date for the veto decision, but CBS won't air it until Tuesday.

Jennifer, you and I will know very soon whether Robert uses the veto or chooses not to...so I don't think we should discuss it until that show airs.

Hey, Tom: I understand a new Superbits edition of LAWRENCE OF ARABIA is due for release soon, but the deluxe DVD edition I bought a year or so ago sure looks great to me. Such painterly vistas just take your breath away, and that lush Jarre music swelling up on the soundtrack and surrounding you; it's the stuff of home theater nirvana!

In the long ago days of *disco,* I did wear platform heals. . .taking me to a towering 6' 7"! Not, if I had been one of those flamboyant types, I might have been known as "the towering inferno."*

*NO GROANING ON HHW!!!!!

Regarding the Superbits Edition of LoA, Mister Robert Harris - restoration expert extraordinaire - has been posting a diary (of sorts) on the Home Theater Forum which is quite fascinating. Mr. Harris is responsible for the restoration of LoA to begin with (MY FAIR LADY and VERTIGO also fell into his magnificent hands), and he has stated that the Deluxe Edition had some minor sound problems and some major color problems (not to mention entirely too much edge enhancement), the Superbit Edition will rectify those problems. With Mr. Harris' kind permission, I quote:
"To be clear, the current redition of LoA on DVD, EE and audio problems aside, is not a situation which will affect the average viewer.

Colors are, for the most part, pretty, and for the average monitor adjusted as the average monitor might be set up, a perfectly viable version of the film -- for the average viewer.

The problems were of accuracy."

Indeed, I think that we have been
spoiled by multiple days over 100
posts. I remember the early days,
when we sometimes didn't break 10!
We do not use air conditioning, and I
think that we are better for it.
Weather in Cleveland rarely
becomes unbearable, so we don't
really need the air conditioning. And
I think that air conditioning spoils
people, and makes the lack thereof
even more awful.
I was out last night, but sorry to be
away from all of you.
I'm tired.
I'm sorry that I missed the party. Let's
have one in Chicago once I get to
Northwestern!

Home again, home again, jiggidy jig! (Oh, a nursery rhyme reference!) I just returned from NYC. What a fine time was had by one and all and by all and one at Joe Allen's tonite. It was good to meet DRs Kerry and Lyn and to wish them a Happy Anniversary. Also there for the festivities were DRs Bill and Ray, Jose, Jason, and Ben (Anthony couldn't make it). We dined and we chatted and we ogled and googled at all the celebs that were also dining there at Joe Allen's tonite. And they ogled and googled at us in our pointy party hats. But we laughed and had a good time anyway. We tried to call BK on my very own cel phone, but, as usual, it was very unseemly and untrustworthy, altho not necessarily in that order, and it wouldn't work inside Joe Allen's. The only way this celebration could have been better was if BK and Guy Haines and other DRs could have been there.

Posted by Susan @ 08/03/2003 09:24 PM PST

WEL--are you calling me a cheater?! I am shocked and appalled! Tomorrow, noon...bring your best water pistol. ;)

Glad the get-together at Joe Allen's was fun for everyone. I hope I can go to the next one. I'll probably head up to NYC sometime in September...don't know when yet though.

Hapgood--are you going to Northwestern as a theatre or a musical theatre major? If I haven't said it before, congrats on getting into such a fine school!

Posted by Maya @ 08/03/2003 09:28 PM PST

La! What a fine time was had by all this evening. The dinner was fantastic, but the company was even better.

For those Dear Readers who have not yet met DRs Kerry and Lyn, let me tell you that they are simply the two sweetest men you will ever meet in your life, and the cutest couple ever. Its amazing how chatting and posting with people on this site can give you a sense of instant rapport with someone when you meet them. I felt instantly comfortable with them, and I hope they felt likewise with me. I really, really enjoyed my time with them and I hope to see and hear from them A LOT in the future.

I'm so sad that Dear Reader Anthony couldn't make it tonight. He's a hoot and a half and I can't wait to see his show in the Fringe Festival. :-)

Jose just sat through 3/4 of DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES on DVD (the Act One disc was messed up midway through) and he wants you all to know how brilliant it was. He's actually thinking of re-mounting it in Washington, D.C., using the money he's going to make from his audition tour to Australia. Someone get Michael Crawford's agent on the phone! Hahaha...I think his eyes are still bleeding from the whole experience.

Let me tell you...there were SO many famous faces tonight at Joe Allen. Susan will have to tell you all about them. We were disappointed, though, that BK's face wasn't one of them. I think Guy Haines was our waiter, since we never saw his face. I dunno...

Now that's not fair! Isn't anyone going to tell us what famous faces were at Joe Allen's tonight (besides Jason's, of course)?

We'll play the initial game.

Glad to hear you all had a fine time at JA's.I am having trouble posting this note. I guess that means it will happen twice!

Posted by Tom from Oz @ 08/03/2003 11:19 PM PST

My, such a lot of posting going on while we were gone for a few days!

We had a lovely trip. DR Sandra and I went to see London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, and then were headed on to Twenty-nine Palms, where Sandra's friend is stationed at the Marine base. On the way, we were caught in quite a heavy summer thunderstorm, which left the roads flooded and washed out in several spots. Now, living here in the desert, we understand the dangers of driving into a flooded wash, so we had to wait quite a while for the flood water to go down enough that we could drive through the washes. That put us behind schedule a bit, but we finally got to the small town of Twenty-nine Palms. We took the Marine friend out for dinner to Pizza Hut, as she was hungry for some good pizza.

The next day we drove on to LA and met BK for dinner and then went on to see Jason Graae in concert. Jason is always great fun to see perform and has quite a sense of humor. Sitting directly in front of us was a couple that we called "The Rather Amorous Couple." No further elaboration, except that they even found the song about the Russian composers to be romantic, somehow.

Jason is always very nice and gracious, always visiting with people who want to say hello after the show. He even posed for a picture with DR Sandra and BK -- which has been forwarded on to Mr. Craig Brockman. So check out the photo gallery to see it.
This morning Sandra and I went to the Farmer's Market on Fairfax Avenue before beginning the 7-hour drive home.

So our very fun weekend is over and it's time to get back to the normal routine once again. It is always so nice to have a short vacation.

Bernadette Peters picked up the dessert tab?

Fabulous!

No, it looks nearly impossible for us to get to 100 posts on this early Monday morning following Sunday evening.

The Lawrence of Arabia boxed DVD that came out a while back had a music error on it...when Lawrence is prancing along the top of the wrecked train, a crazy version of the Lawrence theme is playing, but it's not the correct placement of the music originally used there. Lots of folks were majorly bummed out about that in other discussion groups I frequent.

Still, LOA in DTS sound? WOW! THAT's ENTERTAINMENT. I'm a huge DTS fan, if I have never made that clear. It makes ALL the difference and EVERY movie should be released with it.

Tom: As you now know, I did get the samples of Colin's artistry...and was totally blown away. This man is GIFTED!

Thanks Ron: The work was from a few years back. He has progressed somewhat. I shall have to locate more recent work from you. Scanning the originals is not so easy!

Impossible, DR Tom? Au contraire! After mine, only 26 posts to go! We've got at least three hours...let's go!

Posted by Lulu @ 08/04/2003 03:01 AM PST

Are you in a city that never sleeps Lulu?
It is only 9.10pm Monday here.
I just had a welcome note from DR Ben saying how delightful was the evening in NYC with DRs Kerry & MusicGuy. At times this is such a wonderful world.

It's up to you Eastcoasters to post before BK comes on line. Come to think of it, I am an East coast person too - just a different continent.

I will do my bit for 100 with post 75.

We did indeed have a wonderful evening at Joe Allen's last night. I know that Jason and Jose are younger because they still have the stamina to post after they get home. I just get to bed. It was around 11pm when I arrived at home to be greeted by Anthony who had a day of rehearsal for his Fringe Festival Show.

There was good food, good conversation and GREAT company. As Jason said, Kerry and Lyn are two of the sweetest people you could ever meet (I'm sure DR Laura will concur, having met them many times). They are a beautiful couple and I can only hope that Ant and I have a chance to celebrate 30 years as they have done this weekend.

I do think we glimpsed Guy Haines at least once last night. At one point, when one of the panoply of celebrities wandered in the lights dimmed and, though it was by candlelight, I think we glimpsed Mr. Haines skittering out the back door of Joe Allen's to get away from the crowd of well wishers. We love Mr. Haines, but if he expects to have any kind of career (he could be the next Brent Barrett or the next Jason Graae), he must learn how to accept the public's adoration and desire to just see him. Mr. Haines we love you!

B.P. you were so sweet last night. As good as the warm Toll House Cookies and ice cream that I had for dessert.

Hope we can get 25 more posts in the next 4 hours.

Posted by Ben @ 08/04/2003 04:27 AM PST

Ah, DR Tom snuck in with two posts making it 77 and now I'll make it 78. 22 to go.

Posted by Ben @ 08/04/2003 04:29 AM PST

I can't believe I'm up this early. It's summer...my eyes hurt...Here's 79, come on East Coasters, we can do it...

Finally, a full night's sleep in my own bed. That was a welcome return.

Wednesday, I saw Follies, the third (count 'em-3rd) production I've seen of the show. I still don't get it. Why do so many people declare this to be the greatest of all musicals?

It's about 4 middle aged people regretting the choices they've made in life. Could anything be more dreary? Of course, James Goldman's flat and loveless book is often enlivened by some very fine Sondheim songs, but after a while one feels that Steve was just saving Jim's ass with those.

Perhaps jealousy stops me from embracing it. The lyrics include words like diadem, precis and career (the verb) and if I put such words into one of my lyrics, someone would stop me with "Noel, nobody understands those words."

So, why do people find Follies so bloody marvelous? I find I can't feel much for characters who are already so busy feeling sorry for themselves.

Good morning, Dear Readers everywhere.

yawn!

Posted by Susan @ 08/04/2003 06:17 AM PST

DR Phil, how was the run through last nite? We missed you at the festivities.

Posted by Susan @ 08/04/2003 06:27 AM PST

Dear Noel:

If you've seen FOLLIES three times and haven't yet figured out why it's a masterpiece, no explanation by me is going to persuade you. Suffice to say I think Goldman's ORIGINAL book for the musical, not the revised and thus weakened attempts to make it more audience friendly, is a beautifully sparse and perfect skeleton which Sondheim could flesh out with his contributions.

Ron, I agree with you about DTS. When I have the choice, I will always choose a DTS surround track over Dolby Digital. DTS always seems more sparkling with greater presence and a much clearer and individualized sound. The differences in GLADIATOR's DTS and DD tracks are amazing.

That said, I probably won't be sprining for the Superbit LOA. On my 42" screen, I don't notice the edge enhancement that Mr. Harris finds so distasteful (I think you must need a front projector and huge screen to notice it distractingly), and as seldom as LOA gets played at my house (maybe once a year), no need for a new version. These companies are going to put us all in the poor house asking us to buy new versions of all these classics.

Posted by Matt H. @ 08/04/2003 06:27 AM PST

The biggest celebrity at Joe Allen's last night was that adorable little girl from THE FIVE PENNIES.

Noel - Where is FOLLIES playing?

Quote from Ben Brantly: Ms. Griffuth is a sensational Roxie, posibly the most convincing I've seen".

Yes, the ever young and beautiful Miss Susan Gordon (forget that M.) was a shining star in the firmament last night. We even got to see early pictures of her time in Hollywood. She must have her own version of a Dorian Gray picture somewhere in New Jersey because she has hardly changed at all from the sweet child in those 8X10 photos.
