"I'M GAME"

Well, dear readers, I had a perfectly perfect Saturday – very restful and relaxing. I watched four episodes of Alias and also check out some new Jacques Demy DVDs about which more later. Today I hope to do more of the same, and this afternoon I shall be attending a Christmas party for a short time. Isn’t that exciting? Isn’t that just too too?
I must say I was taken aback to see that Miss Faye Dunaway was a guest star on Alias for two or three episodes. Miss Dunaway, sadly, is a walking example of why women and men should not have facial work done. She bears no resemblance to the woman who was once Faye Dunaway – I’m afraid she looks like a cruel parody of herself. But, she was fun in a nasty part and much better than season one’s big guest shot, Quentin Tarantino, who had to be the show’s low point, performance-wise.
Say what? What say? Say we got us a birthday to celebrate? Okay, I’m game – we got us a birthday to celebrate. “I’m game.” What does that mean? “I’m game.” Like “I’m poultry” or something? Like “I’m Scrabble” or something. Where was I? Oh, yes, we got us a birthday to celebrate, so let’s put on our pointy party hats and our colored tights and pantaloons, let’s break out the cheese slices and the ham chunks, let’s dance the hora and the hokey pokey because today is dear reader Tom from Oz’s birthday. Yes, you heard it here, dear readers, today our very own wizard of Oz has a birthday. So, let’s give Tom from Oz a big haineshisway.com birthday cheer, on the count of three or the duke of nine: One, two, three – HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOM FROM OZ AND WE HOPE IT’S A GLORIOUSLY GLORIOUS DAY!
Well, why don’t we all click on the Unseemly Button below because there’s not enough room to do the hokey pokey in this section.
I was very happy to pick up two Jacques Demy DVDs yesterday – his first and second films, Lola and Bay of Angels. There’s a third DVD, a documentary by his widow, Agnes Varda. I’ve had the documentary for quite some time – it’s on the French DVDs of Cherbourg and Rochefort, but only in French, so I get to see it with subtitles at last. A cursory look at Lola and Bay of Angels reveals ravishingly beautiful transfers, Lola in glorious Franscope and Angels in 1:66, both anamorphically enhanced for widescreen TVs and both glorious black-and-white. If you’re a fan of Mr. Demy, these are must-haves.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, which, in today’s case, is mostly nothing. No chat tonight, but stay tuned because we may have one on Monday night, live from the edit bay. Today’s topic of discussion: It’s free-for-all day, the day in which you, the dear readers, get to choose any and all topics. But, because it sometimes takes a bit to get some topics I’ll start by asking what are your favorite David Shire songs and scores? With Maltby, and without. Let’s have loads of lovely posts, shall we, and let’s party with Tom from Oz all the livelong day and night.
