Well, dear readers, it was quite a lovely day in New York. That would be yesterday, which is, of course, still today as I write these here notes, but by the time they’re posted it will indeed be yesterday, at least East Coast time. I got up at nine and was in the teeny-tiny fitness room by nine-thirty. I did fifty-five minutes and four miles on the treadmill, and then came back up to the room, shaved and showered, and was then on my way to a rehearsal. Rehearsal went very well and I gave some notes, stopped the run-through a couple of times to straighten out things, and then we went downstairs and had a quick lunch. Since I knew I’d be eating a big dinner I just had a teeny-tiny salad with some dried cranberries, walnuts, and no-cal, no-fat raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I then walked down to Academy Records and looked around – I bought four cheap CDs, checked out the book shop across the street (Skyline Books – it used to be a really fun shop, but now it’s just another wacko-priced used book store – their rarities are now about as pricey as I’ve seen, whereas they used to be reasonable – just another example of idiots raising and not lowering their prices in an economic recession), then I walked back to the hotel. I answered some e-mails, made a couple of telephonic calls, and then moseyed on over to Fred and Skip’s for dinner.
Last night, I attended a dinner at Fred and Skip’s. In attendance were Julie J., Fred, Skip, and actress named Jan Horvath and maybe her husband (it wasn’t clear to me), our very own Ben, and then Jason Graae. It was really fun, and we laughed and laughed and just when we thought we could laugh no more, we laughed again. The food was, as always, exemplary. Skip made little wieners wrapped in dough – Little Wieners Wrapped In Dough – that’s the title of my next novel – I had a couple of them and they were quite tasty. There was also cheese, and salami slices, and crackers. The main course was a pork roast, again quite tasty, so tasty in fact that I had seconds. There was also a yummilicious bean and cheese casserole thing that I also had two helpings of. Dessert was an orange pound cake laced with Grand Marnier – it too was faboo. Fred played us his Jeremy Piven Fish parody, and somehow the amazing Fred managed to score matinee tickets for Julie and I to see West Side Story. I mean, he just went online and magically got fourth row center seats. Go know. The partay broke up around eleven. There is video, which I posted in last night’s posts, so check it out and you’ll see and hear Mr. Graae, Ben, Julie, and you’ll see a portion of Fred’s ASS, and Dylan and Toby – you’ll also see Little Wieners Wrapped In Dough, and pork. Ben and I walked downtown together, said our goodbyes, and then I came up to the room and began writing these here notes.
Well, why don't we all click on the Unseemly Button below because the hour is late and I am tired and I also keep biting the side of my cheek, which is really annoying, but once you do it then you just keep doing it even though you don't mean to.
Today, I’ll try to sleep until nine-thirty, after which I’ll do the treadmill (maybe – not sure yet), and then shave and shower and be on my way to see West Side Story at the Palace. As soon as the show is over, I’ll have to hurry back to the hotel, change into my evening clothes and then hie myself over to the Metropolitan Room to prep the show, set mic levels, run a few tech/lighting things, and get Jan ready for her show. I hear there’s going to be an okay-sized house, so that’s good. After the show, I’ll be heading over to Joe Allen for dinner – not sure who all will be coming but I’m going to be famished and shall therefore eat a nice meal.
Tomorrow, I’ll be meeting Mr. Walter Willison and we’ll be going to visit Pat Suzuki – that should be fun. And then I’ll be seeing Next To Normal at 7:30, visiting with Alice Ripley afterwards, and then I’ll probably head back to the hotel and get as much sleep as I can before waking up about four-fifteen and being on my way to Newark and then back to LA.
Well, dear readers, I must take the day, I must do the things I do, I must, for example, maybe do the treadmill (my legs are really sore, and my exercise t-shirt is STILL really moist from sweating like a pig), see West Side Story, attend Jan Abrams’ show at the Metropolitan Room, and then sup at Joe Allen. Today’s topic of discussion: When and where did you first see the following motion pictures: West Side Story, The Music Man, Casablanca, The Court Jester, Vertigo, The Seventh Voyage Of Sinbad, and Rosemary’s Baby? Let’s have loads of lovely postings, shall we, whilst I dream of Little Wieners Wrapped In Dough.
