What was the general feeling of people who saw the film 300?  I really had no interest in seeing the film until I saw the cover of the DVD.

keith & i l didn't think it was great, but we enjoyed it & found it worth watching.  it was interesting.

i know, i don't write great reviews.

DD Dixie Bell is sitting here at my feet right now, and I'm reading all of the birthday wishes to her.
I think she's saying "THANK YOU!"

Easily confused with "where's the rest of that birthday cake?"  :)

"Record number vied for 2007-08 medical school slots"

this headline isn't good news for Bryan.  there isn't any mention that more applicants will be accepted.

...And I have to say the whole "groovy-ness" of Applause is growing on me.  And it was also nice playing a work session for the actor being considered for Len Cariou's role...  A very handsome actor with a wonderful voice. A very tall, handsome actor with a wonderful voice.  ;)

Jose, did you find out if the memorial has actually been postponed?

I may be in the minority, but, I found 300 to be a fascinating film, from a technical standpoint alone it's worth seeing at least once. I also didn't find it to be severely homophobic as some others did.  300 doesn't try to be anything other than a graphic novel brought to the screen.

homophobic ?????

300 almost naked men in one movie, and someone has the nerve to call it homophobic?

What was the general feeling of people who saw the film 300?  I really had no interest in seeing the film until I saw the cover of the DVD.

I would say that unless you're a big fan of this kind of movie making (mostly CGI), illustrated graphic novels in general or any of the actors, you probably don't need to bother...unless you're going to see it on the big screen.  Like td, I also didn't feel that it was homophobic, but I just didn't think that the story (as it was presented) was interesting or historically accurate enough.  Just my 2¢.

There is a line or two about boy lovers and it was used as an insult.  I found THIS article that, in part, says:

The charges of homophobia are largely based on two things - the “boy lovers” crack about Athens and the notion that Xerxes was portrayed as gay. Many have pointed out that the Spartans most likely had just as much pederasty as the rest of Greece at the time, so the joke didn’t even make sense to anyone with a little historical context.
