Well, you've read the notes, the notes had a bad notes day, and now it is time for you to post until the bad day cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: AMBIANCE!
-
And now - Dino at the piano.

You can get up to $1.00/gallon off with the Fred Meyer rewards card...it's all based on how much you spend at Fred Meyer per month.
That is why I only buy gas at Fred Meyer.
-
I don't spend enough at Fred Meyer to make them the only place I get gas, but they're the best backup when Costco is closed. That's my go-to place for gas.
-
Good morning, all!
-
I slept later than usual. I would have liked to sleep longer but Stella would not allow me to. Whiler she was bugging me, Annabelle and Thatch were feeling very happy and frisky this morning, After their leaping and frolicking had caused several things to fall from shelves, I was happy to get dressed.
-
IU have no plans at all for today. I did both the basememt rubn and the vacuuming, so I may just sit here like so mc fish. Im working on an A & T story, and I have some iTunes cleanup to do as well.
-
Good morning, friends.

The long-time music director of the Minnesota Orchestra, Osmo Vanska, is stepping down. This weekend is his farewell blowout, with Mahler's Symphony 8 ("the Symphony of 1,000"). They don't have 1,000 musicians on stage, but they do have over 400. One of the soloists is Sasha Cooke, whom DR Jrand71 will remember from the Met's "Dr. Atomic." The recording of this will complete their cycle of the Mahler symphonies.

Anyone watching the Tonys tonight? It's live, coast to coast. I have Paramount+, so I am hoping to watch the entire 3 hours.
-
As critic Adam Feldman pointed out, the Tonys won by Tony Kushner are referred to as Tony's Tonys.
-
Good morning, all.

Adjusting to the time change.

Good morning, all.
-
I'll be at some kind of gathering after our matinee today, so I don't know when I'll be watching Tonys.
-
I think I have gas in my tank for one more round trip to Stamford, which would be nice. Then I can fill up with what will probably by then be $5/gal. gas at my leisure tomorrow.
-
I am undecided about tonight's Tonys, although I will most likely watch the prime time event. My former employer, The New York City Gay Men's Chorus, is performing in the hour on Paramount Plus.
-
I began watching the first season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, 1970, and after four episodes I gave up. 50 years on, I was no longer amused.
-
I do need to print out a bill and pay it today. I'll mail it tomorrow, hopefully before the 10:00 Jan. 6 hearings.

I've been waking up to the sound of chirping, and I wonder if we might not have a pigeons nest of chicks on the fire escape, ubder the window where I cannot see them.

Happy Sunday to everyone! There's a new Broadway Radio Show up on this site for your listening pleasure. Michael Kostroff and Julie Garnye join me to chat about The Stage Actor's Handbook, an invaluable guide for acting in the theatre. It's a wonderful, fun and informative conversation. Check it out!

They spend a lot of time at the window, but if I can't see the nest, neither can they.

From DR John:
I have a new huckleberry friend. It is huckleberries. I had them in pie and a magnificent ice cream tonight.
It was in Wyoming where I first discovered huckleberries, beginning with huckleberry jam.

I have always found the best huckleberry jam in Wyoming.

DR George have you pestered your car dealership recently?

Nice.
Yes, nice.

And now...

...since we're so close, lets turn the page to the...

PAGE THREE DANCE!!!
-
DR George have you pestered your car dealership recently?
Well...I called Wednesday a week and a half ago and had to leave my information, which meant that I would have to call back.
-
The next day (Thursday a week ago), I went to the dealer's website and just happened to see that one of their incoming vehicles (it was listed as "in transit") was the sport trim (meaning, more expensive) version of the exact car that I had ordered six months ago!
-
It had options that I didn't order (powered moon roof, heated side view mirrors, auto-dimming rear view mirror, heated front seats, etc), BUT it was an automatic.
-
I called back on Friday (a week and two days ago) and asked about my car, and the guy who answered remembered me and said that he would have to call his reps to find out what's going on with the car I ordered!
-
He had no idea why it was taking so long.
-
I then asked him about the incoming sport trim and asked if anyone had claimed it, and he saw that no one had...would I want to reserve it?
-
I asked if I did that and my ordered car came in, could I still get that instead, and he said yes, I could get my manual transmission, or I could get the automatic sport trim.
-
I said to go ahead and reserve the sport trim.
-
I figured that if nothing else, this car at least had a specific date of delivery...June 21, which is now less than a week and a half away.
-
I really do still want a manual transmission, but I'd read this headline of an article a few weeks ago that talked about a guy back east who had a manual transmission and he took it to the dealer to get some regular servicing done.
-
If I remember correctly, it turns out the the (one?) person at the dealership who knew how to drive a manual wasn't there that day, and someone else tried to move the car and ruined the transmission, and then the dealership didn't want to pay for the repairs! :o WTF??
-
And I was thinking...was this something that I had to look forward to??
-
Anyway, the more I thought about it, plus the idea of there being an actual arrival date, AND all the options that are included with the automatic (although it would cost more), I really am leaning towards getting this sport trim.
-
I still haven't heard back about what's going on with my ordered stick shift, but I can afford the more expensive car, and realistically, it probably would just be better to get the automatic because in a potential situation where I'm driving someone who can only drive an automatic and I have some kind of emergency, they wouldn't be able to drive my stick shift...also, it's supposed to include a built-in CD player AND it's the exact same color that I had ordered: Ocean Blue Pearl!
-
So, it looks like if everything goes according to Hoyle, a week from Tuesday, June 21, will be my new car gotcha day...possibly!
-
Good news DR GEORGE.

I am hoping I have a lot more people at tomorrow's audition session than I had today.

These are all very good reason to take this car.

I have seen other articles about a shortage of people who know how to repair the cars, but really they were responsible for the damage to the car.
-
George did you have to give them money to reserve the car?

Might you want to test drive the automatic to be sure you like it?

DR George, did you say you read all nine books in The Expanse series but only watched season one? I did a search and can't find your comment.
DR George I think you missed my question.
-
I notice there is a new book in the series, Memory's Legion, which has eight short Expanse stories.
-
Filmed the Indiegogo thing, began figuring out the perks, and got Marshall lots of visuals to use.
-
George did you have to give them money to reserve the car?
Not the new car. I originally put down $500 for the stick shift, so that'll count for the automatic.
-
Might you want to test drive the automatic to be sure you like it?
When I originally went in and ordered the stick shift, I did get to test drive an automatic (it's all that they had) to get a feel for the car, and I really did like it, so I already have an idea of what it'll be like.
-
Gratuitous Post #101!!

Yes, I have seen that. It says that it has ALL the short stories, except for one. ::)

Why say that you have all the stories, and then qualify it by saying "except one."
-

Not the new car. I originally put down $500 for the stick shift, so that'll count for the automatic.
Still ties you into one or the other. Vibes you love your new car after the long wait.

I know you told me before but that was before I watched the series. Do you plan on reading of rest of the books or ending with the 6th, as the series does.

I wish you had watched the series so I could ask you questions regarding differences between the books and the series.

So, not ONE human is watching the Tonys, which began twenty-five minutes ago??? They've already given out a plethora of awards on the part that wasn't prime time, so let's hear about the show and who's won so far.
-
Best score: Six (I think the front-runner was A Strange Loop) - you couldn't get me to listen to any of 'em, frankly.
-
Best choreography: Christopher Wheeldon, MJ - I like Mr. Wheeldon's ballets.
-
Costume design: Montana Levi Blanco for The Skin of Our Teeth.
-
Scenic Design play: Es Devlin for The Lehman Trilogy
-
Scenic design musical: Bunny Christie for Company.
-
Lighting design play: Jon Clark for The Lehman Trilogy
-
Lighting design musical: Natasha Katz, MJ.
-
Sound design play: Mikhail Fiksel for Dana H.

I do plan on reading the rest. I'm still reading Sondheim's Finishing the Hat, so I want to get through more of that before I start the next Expanse book, which will be next.
-
Sound design musical: Gareth Owen, MJ
-
Best orchestrations: Simon Hale for Girl from the North Country.

I didn't sign up for Paramount+, so I don't know what happened there. ::)
-
Best performance by an actor in a featured role in a play, which is the long-winded, pretentious way of saying Best Supporting Actor play: Jesse Tyler Ferguson for Take Me Out.
-
Best supporting actress musical: Patti LuPone - WHAT a surprise. Not.
-
I think that's it thus far.
-
They must be handing the awards out VERY slowly.
-
And long commercials.
-
Best Direction of a play: Sam Mendes
-

Interesting winners. I think Mendes was the front-runner, but I don't think that was the case with Elliott.

-
And now, I'm off.
Enjoy the rest of the broadcast!

Saw the opening number - everyone LOVED it!!! I don't get Ariana DeBose, sorry, and I thought it was very loud and very busy with choreography like you see on those So You Think You Can Dance shows.

Best supporting actress in a play - Phylicia Rashad. No surprise.
-
Saw the Billy Crystal number - he's great, of course. It wasn't a song, however, just a vamp with Billy's shtick.
-
The MJ number was, well, it was.
-
I didn't care for the set for the Company opening number and the staging is nothing. Then again, nothing's ever gonna top Mr. Bennett's work.
-
I am most amazed that not a single person is here and reporting on the Tony Awards - NOT A SINGLE PERSON - in our HISTORY that has never happened, and in case you're not aware of our HISTORY, that's over twenty years now.
-
Guess I'll just continue with the monologue and mourn for the days when this was THE place to be for ALL awards shows, when we'd have forty or fifty pages of postings.
-
Supporting actor in a musical: Matt Doyle for Company - front runner.
-
'night
-
The MJ number was, well, it was.
I keep reading bad things about the choreography.
-
I appreciate your monologue, bk. I haven’t been near a TV. Plus, in mountain time, it seems too early.
-
Six!
-
Best revival of a play: Take Me Out. No surprise.
-
Best revival of a musical: Company - no surprise. After seeing the opening number, I have less desire to see it than I did before - and I had no desire to see it before.
-
Strange Loop number - if you have to button your number with shining, blinding lights into the audience, then it's clear that the number isn't very good - also busy, busy whatever it was they were doing. Considering it was the favorite to win everything...
-
I gotta tell you.
-
This jernt ain't jumpin'
-
Had a Chinese chicken salad from Stanley's for food. And a dessert is on its way.
-
And long commercials.
And way too many gratuitous musical interludes from "past" Broadway shows.
-
Best Actress play: Dierdre O'Connell for Dana H. I was hoping for Mary Louise Parker, but I've seen none of the performances.
-
Best actor in a play: Simon Russell Beale for The Lehman Trilogy. Front runner.

I met Diedre a couple of lifetimes ago, along with Deborah Monk, David Rasche and Madeline Sherwood at a theater summer camp. Glad she won. Very nice lady.
-
Best Play: The Lehman Trilogy
-
Is this show really running close to three and a half hours???
-
Best Musical: A Strange Loop.
-
Best Actor in a musical: Myles Frost for MJ
-
Best Actress in a musical: Joaquina Kalukango for Paradise Square.
-
That should do it.
-
Glad to have done my one-man show this evening.
-
There will be a massive bitch-slapping on the 'morrow.
-
Paradise Square?
-
I found the group part of Paradise Square excruciatingly awful and I found the song that the lady sang to be loud - she was fine as a loud singer, but since loud singers hold little interest for me, it came down to the song, which was musically inept and lyrically even worse.
-
It’s been a long day. Time for bed.
-
Thank you again, BK.
-
Good night, all.

Hopefully, the winners won and the non-winners enjoyed themselves. ;D

Best Musical: A Strange Loop.
I ordered the original off-Broadway cast recording (https://castalbums.org/recordings/A-Strange-Loop-2019-Original-Off-Broadway-Cast/41969/). It was supposed to be delivered on Friday, but it got there after everyone left, so I'll get it fomorrow.
-
This afternoon we saw Something Rotten, the show that was canceled a couple weeks ago.
Shakespeare was out. Shakespeare's understudy was out. The understudy for a different role was performing Shakespeare. He did an excellent job.
I don't know if he has been performing the role since the day they had to cancel our show or not.
Also, it looked like all the male swings were performing.
-
Then after that, we went to my son's house for dinner. So I was playing dinosaurs until just a short while ago.
-
I never watch the Tony Awards. I do check out the clips on Youtube later.
-
Of course, if JRand was a nominee, I'd find some way to watch it.
-

Since you have waited far too long for the car you ordered, tell them you will take this other for the same price.
-
So glad you are finally going to get a car, George. I'm hoping your new car has cruise control. You'll like that if you drive long distances.
-
Is Andrew Garfield gay? It appears he is at the Tony’s with a guy.

If they had come to me and said that there was this other car coming in and would I like it instead, I would definitely insist on the original price, but technically, I still have my original car on order and I saw that this new car was coming in, so I asked them about getting it.
-
They did give make me an offer that's really only $650 over the sticker price, so I'm getting a deal, but hopefully, I can still get a little more out of it.
-
I'm going to call tomorrow or Tuesday and see what they say.

If you watched the Tonys tonight any saw the problem Stephen Sondheim had with his right eye; that is what mye eye will look like if i don’t have the upcoming surgery.

Yes, both versions of the car have cruise control. I did use my sister's cruise control when I borrowed her car to drive to rehearsals and performances of Mamma Mia!, so I did get a chance to enjoy that. :)

Is Andrew Garfield gay? It appears he is at the Tony’s with a guy.
Are you sure that that wasn't just a seat filler? He used to be in a relationship with Emma Stone, but there's no law that says he can't swing both ways.

Best choreography: Christopher Wheeldon, MJ - I like Mr. Wheeldon's ballets.
It was pretty incredible.

So tonight, The Skivvies (who are Lauren Molina (https://www.youtube.com/user/lomo212) and Nick Nick Cearley) were having a special Tony Awards performance and were also streaming parts of the Tony Awards during their YouTube show. The streaming got shut down and now the link (which is in my list of notifications because I follow Joe's Pub where the show was actually streaming from) has the message:
This video has been removed for violating YouTube's policy on spam, deceptive practices, and scams.

:o

I am having a problem watching the Tonys. The sound is not syncing with the video. I don’t know if it is my streaming service, CBS, or something at the broadcast.
-
I am thinking it is my streaming service. It has happened before.
-
I want to hear that actress from PARADISE SQUARE again. She was a showstopper.
-
I didn’t show up here for the start of the TONYS, because I have gotten tired of being one of a very small handful of people here. Since no one mentioned watching the awards, I didn’t bother to show up.
-
I used to love Award Nights here, because it never mattered whether you had seen the plays and musicals, or the films, it was about trashing the gowns or making fun of the acceptance speeches. It was all about the being together at Bruce’s living room.
-
Yup.

I loved Ariana DeBose in THE PROM and in WEST SIDE STORY.

She was great in both of those.

Best revival of a play: Take Me Out. No surprise.
2
I want to direct TAKE ME OUT. Just for the auditions.
-
Best revival of a musical: Company - no surprise. After seeing the opening number, I have less desire to see it than I did before - and I had no desire to see it before.
Bobbi didn’t even sing “Company.” From what I heard, that was probably a good thing.

Since you have waited far too long for the car you ordered, tell them you will take this other for the same price.
If they had come to me and said that there was this other car coming in and would I like it instead, I would definitely insist on the original price, but technically, I still have my original car on order and I saw that this new car was coming in, so I asked them about getting it.
It certainly wouldn’t hurt to try, George. Your car is overdue, and new car dealers have plenty of wiggle room when it come to the price.

That was why I was asking. I didn’t think he was, but what do I know.
-
I don’t know how that happened.

I would hope that they're open to some negotiating. I'll find out soon enough.

There really wasn’t a typical boy-meets-girl musical up for Best Musical this year. I suppose the Bob Dylan show was close. Actually, I have no interest in seeing the show to find out if it is or isn’t.
-
I admire Bob Dylan as an artist, but I am not a fan.

I feel the same way on both counts.

Did John G. Just sign on?
-
I think I will to try and read for a time, or maybe just go to sleep. I just remembered I finished my book last night.
-
Good night, George.

Good night, George.
Good night, Tom.

I'm definitely in the minority about Ariana DeBose - just don't "get" her. Such are the way of things and opinions.
-
Good night, BK. I am sorry we are a disappointment to you :(
-
Tomorrow, it's back to work. ::)
-
But one day closer (potentially) to a new car!
