Well, you've read the notes, the notes were a badge of honor, and now it is time for you to post until the honored cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: DICTION!
-
I wrote the notes quickly so let me know of any terrible typos or if something isn't clear.
-
TCB good luck tomorrow.
-
George that is kind of your mother.
-
'night
-
BK, O.M.G.! WTF?? :o
-
George that is kind of your mother.
Thanks, Jane. My mom used to be a nurse, so she knows what she's doing.
-
Oh. THAT queen.
-
What a pathetic individual. So sorry you had to endure such crap!
-
Topic of the Day: on my DVD burner that I just recorded last night from laserdiscs: the live concert, Diane Schuur & The Count Basie Orchestra; and the live cabaret show, Bobbie Short And Friends [Live at The Carlyle). Both were great concerts!
-
Good night.

When I was a kid, Diane used to perform all the time in Tacoma at this great place called Steve’s Gay 90’s.
-
Sharry used to work there from time to time, too.

That's cool! And about Sharry, too! ;D

Yes, he was out of control and I hope I handled him well - one occasionally had to give as one got, but the did the victim thing every time - pathetic, really. I was calm most of the time, which I'm sure irritated him no end. The only time I really got nasty and told him to eff off was when he said our show was technically terrible, a show he's never seen. And yes, I told him he was behaving like a nasty old queen.

When I was going Western Washington University, I got to meet her. The director of the jazz band and choir (I was in the jazz choir) invited Diane Schuur, who was living in Renton at the time, to come up to Bellingham and sing with the jazz band. Another jazz choir member Tod and I got to drive down to Renton, pick up Diane and her boyfriend Paul, and drive them up to Bellingham, and then back again the next day. Diane was a bit temperamental but she put on a great show.
(I posted this back in July, but edited it a bit for this conversation. :) )

Good for you!

Brother TCB, sister jan is kissing your boo-boo. Heal fast!
-
Hi, jan. How're you doing?
-
Well, I'm off to bed. Tonight, I'll be playing Phase 10 at my mom's.
Have a good day, all!
-
So much for falling asleep.
-
~~~CONTINUED MEDICAL HEALING VIBES~~~ for DR TCB!
-
Good morning, all!
-
I did not watch either of the town halls last evening. I am angry with NBC for rewarding petulant behavior.
-
Well, I guess the musical directing partner of BK's new close personal friend will no longer be asked to do a Kritzerland show! I did unsuccessfully Google the March 2020 Kritzerland show out of curiosity to learn the MD's name.
-
Last night I watched Joe Biden's Town Hall. I thought he too often quoted money and plans when a simpler answer might have sufficed. A young lady asked about pollution in SE Pennsylvania, and Joe rambled on and on, when I thought he could have said, "I will seek to repeal all the agencies covering pollution and environmental and wildlife protections that Trump has destroyed to begin with and that needs to be done ASAP."
Still, he's heads above the lying piece of shit squatting in the White House, and I'm hoping for a huge win.
-
Today is laundry day. As soon as the kitty cleanup is over, I will begin.
-
DR TCB, I am so sorry about the current state of your bandages and everything accompanying this injury. I hope you can take care of this today.
-
DR Jeanne, I have canceled sessions with several AppleCare personnel once I realized they knew less than I did about the workings of a Mac. On the other hand, I have met several computer geniuses who knew exactly what needed to be done.
-
Wasn't "The Apprentice" an NBC program? We have Mark Burnett and NBC to thank for putting the Fat Orange Slug into office, may they rot in hell.
Page 2 Dance!
The only border wall I'm interested in...
-
Good morning.
-
TCB, I'm so sorry to hear about your accident.
-
Good morning, all.
-
That is one HELL of a story, BK.
-
TOD
CDs, not much at present. But I’ve been watching a few movies in something of a ketchup mode.
I’d been wondering about the Amicus film I, Monster, a version of Jekyll and Hyde with Lee and Cushing. I had a British DVD of it which I’d never watched, and a quick spot check a few weeks ago hadn’t really inspired me. But I did want to give it a chance, and last night the mood was right. I did enjoy it, and will keep it around or perhaps go for the upcoming Blu-ray.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Continued vibes for TCB.
-
I don’t engage with bullies when possible. It’s one reason I left social media. And yours, BK, just sounds like the winner of a queenly throne on Dante’s fifth or sixth layer of the Inferno.
-
I loved DICTION in the first film of The Producers.
-
TOD, continued...
Earlier this week I took out a Twilight Time Blu-ray of another film I had never seen: Scream and Scream Again. It wasn’t AT ALL what I’d expected, and for good reason. Turns out, it has never been what anyone has expected, especially considering that its three stars are Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing. And after seeing it, I was finding it such an odd choice for Twilight Time.
BUT... I kept it out because there’s a commentary on it that I wanted to hear because I was curious, so I listened to that last night (after watching I, Monster) while casually keeping an eye on the proceedings. Definitely interesting, and I found it gratifying to begin putting the pieces of the puzzle in context. And there were two puzzles: (1) what the movie is about in the first place, and (2) why it might have deserved the nice Twilight Time treatment. It was actually quite rewarding, and I’m happy to have it in my arsenal.
-
The only border wall I'm interested in...
I want one!
-
Laundry is in the washers, and the bed is made. I can chill out with a cuppa coffee for 25 more minutes.
-
Logged on to a strange computer error. Now dealing with IT. The joys of the morning.
-
TOD:
Dunno if the repairman will come, so I can put the TV back. Maybe another Donizetti opera, if not.
-
If he doesn't show, ask him who he recommends when he's on vacation and you will call him to do the job.
-
More vibes for DR TCB!
-
That was quite a story in the notes, BK!
-
I'm surprised to find myself no longer in Facebook jail. Thirty days should end on Sunday, the 18th.
-
I haven’t tuned in for Donizetti this week, but next week is “comedy week” and there are a few interesting ones on the horizon, including a repeat of the Zeffirelli Falstaff which never gets old.
-
I have heard that Viagra is good for your DICTION.
-
If DR jan comes back, tell her she's supposed to be in the Intermediate class!
-
T.O.D
Among other things, I recorded 3 movies during the past couple of days:
RANDOM HARVEST
THEY WON'T FORGET
THREE MEN ON A HORSE
I'll probably watch one or all of them this weekend.
-
My costumes for A CHRISTMAS CAROL have all gotten the thumbs up - and my two interpretations have been pronounced "pissingly funny" by the directors.....whatever that means.
I think that means I should keep doing them that way.
-
DR DRUXY those are all great movies to watch!
I watched ThEY WON'T FORGET last night......Claude Rains is very good.
-
And THE BLACK SLEEP is OnDemand on TCM.....I always think of your play when I watch it.
Have there been any productions lately?
-
With the pandemic, TCM is running movies that they haven't run for years (if ever):
Silents...
B Movies...
Films I've never heard of...
-
What a horrible person in the notes - and I'm not talking about MR BK.
Sounds like someone might have gotten into the liquor cabinet.
-
DR DRUXY those are all great movies to watch!
I watched ThEY WON'T FORGET last night......Claude Rains is very good.
I've seen them all...multiple times.
-
Like the man who got up at our meeting last Sunday and hollered and carried on because our 2021 season had directors that were all on the board....he talked for 20 minutes telling us how awful we were.
He had been scheduled to direct in 2020 - but of course the season was cancelled.
What the fool didn't know was that one of the directors had told us on Saturday that she couldn't direct. And he was on the short list to take her place.....
Which the board decided to do.....even though there was an abstainer and one NO vote.
-
Vibes for DR TCB.
-
I love this photo, and now all three of my cats want these caps.
-
The problem with watching films that you haven't seen for years or decades:
They are not always the movie you remember.
The other night I watched A FACE IN THE CROWD (1957) with Andy Griffith.
I saw it when it first came out, and I thought it was "the greatest thing since chopped liver".
I may have seen it once more over the years, but not for a very long time.
Watching again, it was okay, but it certainly didn't have anywhere near the impact it had on me when I first saw it.
Maybe one shouldn't revisit these old films.
Doing so can sully a "golden" memory.
-
I guess that revisiting people and places from your past can also do the same thing.
-
I am staring out the window right now at FAT, falling snowflakes.
-
I am staring out the window right now at FAT, falling snowflakes.
Tsk. There you go again, body shaming our friend Mr. Snowflake.
-
Good Morning. Certainly glad it's Friday. Sometimes a 4 day school week can seem longer than a 5 day school week. We have a school mass today, so that pre-empts 2 of my classes, which is always welcome. The 4th grade will be on campus to serve at the Mass while everyone else will watch the livestream. These are the days of our lives.
-
The laundry is finished, and so am I.
Health vibes for DR TCB!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
The laundry is finished, and so am I.
But y'are, Blanche, y'are. ;)
-
Nice cat hat DR ELMORE.
-
The strap keeping my sutures together fell off this morning. They said it would, eventually.
I feel like any quick moves, and I'm a goner. 8)
-
I, too, love DR elmore3003's cat shot.
-
The snow has stopped. No snowpersons, today.
-
So, DR Jrand70, the whiner is going to get a show to direct?
-
More rewarding of bad behavior.
-
The preliminary TV ratings indicate Biden's town hall clobbered 45's by orders of magnitude.
-
Yes he does DR singdaw. He has his champions - unfortunately.
He has also been informed that the last time we had four On Board directors was 2013 and that in our last produced season 2 of 4 directors were Off board folks.
-
Keeping it together vibes for DR singdaw.
Vibes everything stays together as it should.
Thanks! I was only being partly serious.
We had another snow flurry. Now it is sunny. Go figure.
Yay. I need comedy tonight and every night lately. Anna’s final scene last night was gripping, beautifully sung, movingly acted and depressing.
-
DR Druxy, I have never seen Three Men on a Horse. Would be interested in hearing about that one.
-
Work. I don’t wanna.
-
But I gotta.
-
Four!
-
Going back to Louisville for Christmas.
-
DR John G., I assume you'll be driving?
-
I can't believe that Angela Lansbury turns 95 today.
-
DR Druxy, I have never seen Three Men on a Horse. Would be interested in hearing about that one.
Isn't that the biography of Diana Dors?
-
I finished the laundry, went through a few more book corrections, lay down down for a bit, put the laundry away, and took a bath. I feel quite refreshed.
-
I think tonight we might watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind, original version.
-
The only border wall I'm interested in...
Friday afternoon greetings! Rebecca and I had “car coffee” this morning. We each went to Starbucks’ drive-thru then we parked driver’s side to driver’s side and visited for an hour or so. Since I’ve been home, I’ve decorated our house for Halloween, pre-baked pizza crusts for tonight’s dinner, and dealt with the Amish friendship bread our neighbor gave us last week. Cinnamon bread is baking now and it smells good!
-
DR TCB, I’m so sorry about your mishap and hope you were able to get it tended to today.
-
Gratuitous Post #100!
TOD:
Dunno if the repairman will come, so I can put the TV back. Maybe another Donizetti opera, if not.
A modern production of COVID FAN TUTTE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwNz8C33JOc) from the Finnish National Opera and Ballet is now available, and will be available for four months.
-
I'm surprised to find myself no longer in Facebook jail. Thirty days should end on Sunday, the 18th.
Time off for good behavior?
-
I'm up, I'm up - nine hours of sleep.
-
Alfie Boe: Bring Him Home (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFMTTdiTCN8) is available for only 48 hours. I'll watch it later.
-
My costumes for A CHRISTMAS CAROL have all gotten the thumbs up - and my two interpretations have been pronounced "pissingly funny" by the directors.....whatever that means.
Definitely! Change nothing! ;D
Amazing! A Very Happy Birthday to Angela! :D
I think tonight we might watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind, original version.
Original versions are in the air this week. I'm thinking of doing the same with Topaz.
-
Thanks! I was only being partly serious.
I figured that, but as you said "partly serious" which I understand.
-
I’ve decorated our house for Halloween
That's what I love about October. My housekeeping cobwebs become decorations! ;D
-
That's an exhausting list, DR Ginny. You must be feeling so accomplished today!
-
Thanks for the heads up on the streaming options, DR George.
You and my mother.
I'll bet we shared a lot in common.
You were expecting an Amazon shipment?
Wow! It's Page Five!!
A lot of kitchen time, but now that our pizzas have been made and consumed, I’m done for the night.
I like that adverb, pissingly. It’s very melodious.
Did anyone ever really like Tab?
I drank a lot of that once upon a time.
-
We are Richard is watching ROGUE ONE, because we’ve been on somewhat of a Felicity Jones kick lately. I remember sleeping through most of it when we saw it in the theatre with Mary Linda’s family.
-
Felicity Jones sounds like she should be a character from Li'l Abner.
-
I just read that Coca-Cola is discontinuing TAB!!!! :P
Did anyone ever really like Tab?
As an occasional novelty and throwback taste.
But I know a few folks who have truly loved it for years.
-
Once, many years ago, I ordered a diet Coke in a restaurant. The waitress snapped, "You'll have a diet TAB, and you'll LIKE it!"
-
I drank a lot of TAB from 1968-1972......then it stopped being offered at work in the machine.....
-
Desk has been delivered and set up. Had to do the room arrangement a bit differently than I had planned in order to open the closet door on one end of the wall and the bedroom door on the other end.
But it's all good. Everything is hooked back up, and my television is CLOSER to me which is always good.
-
...pissingly good.....
I think I need a walk before dinner.
I co-worker has been VERY upset that he hasn't been able to get Tab for quite a while now. I don't know if he yet knows that it's official.
Well, I'm off. I need to finish a couple of things, then I'm going to my mom's.
Be back later.
I don't like any diet drinks. Tab was the only one I could ever tolerate, and I only had it at one friend's house when it first came out.
-
DR Jrand70, I did indeed attend intermediate classes both before I took a break and after I was chastised.
-
Oh no! Singdaw is falling apart!!
-
I dropped my ballot in the ballot box today.
-
I put the flopping fish in a paper grocery bag and put that on top of an Amazon box.
So of course, Leonard finds it interesting to rub his face on the box to make the fish flop.
-
Leonard is very funny :)
-
George & Tom received our ballots today.
-
Let's move on ...
-
Six!
-
The temperatures outside are dropping. They were about 75 when I went for my walk. It's wonderful, if only for a day or two. It's supposed to be back close to 90 by Sunday.
We are watching an adaptation of Emma.
-
I found a recipe online for homemade pistachio pudding. I was all set to make it tomorrow, but a friend tried it out ahead of me and brought me a jar of it. It's crazy good. Reminds me of the pistachio gelato in Italy.
Had Togo's for food. No packages or mail, so I've just been working for a few hours on project one.
-
We are watching an adaptation of Emma.
With a period in the title?
-
Rhonda Fleming has died at age 97.
-
I think Out of the Past was my favorite of her movies.
-
Finished with my viewing and eating sandwich two. And listening to music.
-
Good night, all.
-
Rhonda Fleming has died at age 97.
Sad, but wow 97.
I guess that revisiting people and places from your past can also do the same thing.
Oh, but I love RANDOM HARVEST.
I believe that would a higher number.
Annabelle says she see you and raises you one.
She does look like Sasha.
-
George & Tom received our ballots today.
Mine was supposed to be mailed today.
-
Thank you all for the continued good vibes.
-
I went back to urgent care today. Dr. Hottie was there, but was not assigned to my care. Dr. Un-hottie was very nice. He checked out my finger and decided that the sutures seemed to be holding very well, so he decided I didn’t need the metal splint or all the tons of gauze the nurse had used on Wednesday. So, I am down to one large bandaid and it feels 1000% better.
I've certainly never had homemade pistachio pudding.
It does sound real good!
I don't remember if I've ever had actual pistachios.
If I have, it's been a very long time.
seven!!
I love pistachios - Peyton Kirkner's mom's family makes them up north so I get bags for free. Hazelnuts, on the other hand, make me want to vomit on the ground.
