I haven't seen "Sicko" yet, but here in Washington, a law was passed this past Tuesday that says insurance companies cannot deny legitimate claims or they will have to pay triple the amount of the original claim!
-
And I'm sure the insurance companies will figure out how to get around it. But I'm glad a law was passed, and let it be the first of many.

'I'll be back': Film fans stuck on tough talk
The most often-quoted line from a famous film is "I'll be back," at least according to research released yesterday.
Indeed, the three weighty syllables delivered by a pre-political Arnold Schwarzenegger in "The Terminator" 23 years ago resonate most with the public, said a survey of 2,000 movie fans asked to cite their favorite movie phrases. It was conducted by Myfilms.com, a social-networking site maintained by the UK Film Council, Britain's government-backed film agency.
..
Here are the top ten quotes - I have added the source reference:
1. "I'll be back." - Gone With the Wind
2. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." -All About Eve
3. "Beam me up, Scotty." - ET
4. "May the force be with you." - Top Gun
5. "Life is like a box of chocolates." - On The Waterfront
6. "You talkin" to me?" - Miracle Worker
7. "Show me the money." - Sweet Charity
8. "Do you feel lucky, punk?" - Going My Way
9. "Here's looking at you, kid." - Lolita
10. "Nobody puts Baby in a corner." - Bringing Up Baby

THE STRIKE (http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Nov12/0,4670,BroadwayLabor,00.html)
The producers want more flexibility in hiring and the number of people assigned to certain jobs. "We simply don't want to be compelled to hire more workers than needed and pay them when there is no work for them to do," St. Martin said.
The stagehands say their benefits have been hard-won and that they won't give them up without something in return.
"We are being attacked," Claffey said. "We're fighting for our lives. ... A middle-class job we're trying to protect."
Well, seems they have been offered "something in return":
ASSOCIATED PRESS (http://www.boston.com/ae/theater_arts/articles/2007/10/09/producers_make_final_offer_to_stagehands/)
Producers make final offer to stagehands
Negotiations between the League of American Theatres and Producers reached a critical stage Tuesday as the producers presented what they said was the League's final offer to Local One, the Broadway stagehands' union.
...
The offer includes a 16 percent wage increase over five years, a separate 10 percent wage increase for the period when shows are loaded in, an additional increase for the lowest paid stagehands, as well as a new sick pay provision, St. Martin said.
Now, about those "middle class jobs":
The League of American Theatres and Producers (http://www.livebroadway.com/)
We have the highest regard and respect for our stagehands. But, they are not, as the Union leadership characterizes them, the typical "little guys" as far as compensation is concerned. Their "average annual earnings," in salary and benefits, is more than $150,000, with many stagehands earning more than $200,000.
*They are professionals and should be well paid, and will remain the best paid in this industry in the world. We simply don't want to be compelled to hire more workers than needed and pay them when there is no work for them to do.
For example:
• It takes a few minutes to move a piano, but we are forced to pay stagehands for four hours of work. As a result, over the course of a year, many stagehands add another $50,000 dollars to their six figure salaries from moving pianos or mopping floors.
• Head Electricians earn a six figure salary, but their contract only permits them to work a total of 80 minutes a week.
• A flyman making $160,000 annually in salary and benefits is required for all productions, even when there is no fly cue in the production and no flyman is needed.
• We are required to keep the same number of workers loading in a show as hired on day one for the entire load-in process regardless of how many workers are subsequently needed.
• We have offered a significant raise in wages, but the union says there will be a cut in wages. The only explanation is that this would be the result of fewer people being paid for not working.
These issues can only be resolved at the bargaining table, not on the picket line. We remain prepared to meet 24/7 until we reach an acceptable agreement.
And bk thinks this will be over by Tuesday - I don't think so!
NOTE: The Union is certainly losing the PR battle!

Good morning, all! I'm awake, I'm packed, I've answered and dealt with the latest emails, and I believe I'm ready to head out for whatever fresh hell the flight, the estate, the Macbeths, and the cosmos throw in my direction. My next post will be from Ohio.
Thank you all for the vibes and keep them coming. I don't think I've ever so looked forward to a week's coming to an end; I cannot wait until I'm back here next Monday.
Health care? As an often poor self-employed person, I've had to pay for my own health insurance since 1997 and I've had no dental insurance since the early 1990s because the Drama Book Shop was always looking for cheaper insurance companies and the union claimed I didn't work enough to get insurance. I would much rather see the chunk of change I fork over every year to the IRS pay for national health insurance and education than for a completely useless war.

Good morning all. I'm to late to wish our Dear Elmore a good flight. I hope that things are not as bad as you think they will be.
I am at the airport so I shall wave at you when our planes pass in the sky. Hummm, the new version of two ships passing in the night? :)
I've been up since 3:30 AM. Yawn! I didn't have to get up until 4:30 but I'm the type that would rather be early then late.
It was a nice Comfort Inn. I only stayed there last night so Debi wouldn't have to get up so early to haul her old Aunt to the airport. She has to work today. I don't because I'm a government worker. Just one of the perks, I guess.
I leave in about 45 minutes. It turned out to be one of the short but sweet trips. I saw my first Steelers football game last night. I'm sure they won because I was there to watch them.
I now know what a "Terrible Towel" is.
I have a very lovely time.
I guess next time I'll have to come to Pittsubugh for a few days and then fly out to NY--I haven't forgot my New York family. :)
I have so much to do when I get home. I can't wait to see the dogs. I bet they wonder where I have been and why I left them. Poor things and now they have to go right back into another kennel until Friday.
Well, I guess I'd better go for now. Talk to ya'll when I get to Tampa!

Oh, I agree with Elmore about my tax money and the war.

I haven't seen SICKO so I cannot comment on that film specifically, but yes health care is in a terrible state here, because it is all about the dollars.
I also know that ANY government run program is rife with graft, waste, and inefficient (worked for the government for years, don't you know) - so I do not know what the answer is.
I think everyone should have health care, but I don't want to PAY for everyone else's health care, so I really don't have an answer.
Except: Don't Get Sick.

I haven't seen SICKO yet, either, although I did purchase the DVD last week.
As with most national issues, I can't see any meaningful progress until the corrupting influence - the national scourge - of money and lobbyists on our government, its elected officials, and its policies - is somehow addressed. The best government money can buy! For those doing the buying, I suppose. Not for the rest of us.

Healthcare in Canada has its pluses and minuses. Yes it is socialized medicine. But since the government pays doctors less than they are really worth it seems to get them in, get them out with patients. Also it can take months to get a medical test like a Colonoscopy and this has developed into a "two tier" service. If you can afford to pay for the tests yourself you can get them sooner instead of waiting months. There are many private clinics out there that cater to people who can afford their services.
And yes after my recent brief stay in the hospital (about three to four hours) the cost was close to $1000. I am hoping that most of it, if not all will be covered by my insurance.

As for health insurance, I'm very lucky. I have a state health plan that's an excellent one (both medical and dental), but I understand how really terrible it is for those who have no insurance. And the costs for those who are paying their own is very high. I think there's no question we need a better system. I have no clue what it should be or how it would be implemented.
-
I used to work for an insurance company, and when I retired they botched my insurance royally.
Fortunately, I've been at the store long enough now that I've got pretty good coverage from the union. I'm just waiting until my eyecare kicks in so I can get new glasses. (Rhinestone frames are catchy, but not really me, if you know what I mean.)

Today I will be watching the upcoming new Criterion remastering of Hitchcock's THE LADY VANISHES. I'm very eager to see the new transfer and do comparisons with the old one. I see that they've ported over Bruce Eder's excellent original commentary.
It's a two disc set, so this is one of those times when the extras are going to be as anticipated as watching the main feature.
The movie is one of the greats. I really hope this new release does it justice. I seem to remember the last Criterion had many age-related scratches and speckles, but I haven't watched it in several years.

TOD - I haven't seen SICKO, but I have heard candidate after candidate and commercial after commercial talk about it. I don't believe the candidates who are accepting money from insurance and drug companies...like the so called democratic front runner will make any real attempt to solve the problem.
I live right near the South Dakota border. Since SD has no income tax, a number of the doctors here have set up practices across the river in SD and have a private clinic/surgery center there. The biggest problem with that is if you have complications during surgery, they have to get an ambulance and take you to the hospital. So the doctors get to keep more $$ but the risk to the patient is greater. I really don't feel sorry for doctors who compromise the ability to respond to an emergency during surgery so they can aviod taxes and make more money. I think doctors and hospitals share in the blame of what is wrong.
That being said, I primarily blame the insurance companies. I think the insurance companies should not be able to tell doctors what tests they can and can't perform and if they got rid of all the administrative bs that has to be done you could cut a lot of costs.
I think we need to stop being reactive in health care and adjust the focus to preventive care. If they covered all preventive care, physicals, immunizations, all suggested screening tests...cancer and other conditions could be discovered in earlier stages, thus saving more lives and reducing the expense of treating these conditions when they do occur. Perhaps that's what the government should cover and leave the insurance companies to handle accidental and catastrophic loss. Not sure, I haven't really thought that part through

With Hannukah beginning the evening of December 4, the gift-buying season for many of us in New York who celebrate both holidays is under way and in full swing. I would imagine this has an impact on the merchandising being so early this year.

We had the coolest multimedia display yesterday at my church gig--I got pretty emotional. We had asked for vintage pictures of all our vets, and then one of our media gurus did a really superb slideshow where the vintage pics morphed into their current likenesses, all to some Norah Jones tune (something about America, sorry can't recall right now). I tried to talk to as many of the old guys yesterday as I could to thank them--it's a way for me to honor my late father, too. Thankfully, I repeatedly told him how much his service meant to me, though, like a lot of WWII vets, he was pretty shut down about it all, and just tended to shrug when it was mentioned.

Hello, everyone.
TOD:
I haven't seen SICKO and therefore have no comment on the film.
Regarding health care in the US, you really don't want to get me started on this subject! To be brief, I will say:
--Like many others, I do not like the way the government administers most programs, so government-administered health care is, IMO, far from ideal.
--I have not been following the political scene closely lately, but in general I feel that most politicans are looking for a position that will sell, rather than really having a comprehensive understanding of the problems. Everyone knows there are problems.
--I do feel that much of the fault lies with insurance companies. Even when you have a claim for something that is CLEARLY COVERED and not your fault, it still takes ages to get reimbursed.
--Like Cillaliz, I feel that more emphasis can and should be placed on preventative care.
--Personally, I use a lot of alternative medicine. I pay by check or credit card, there is no insurance involved for either me or the practitioner, and I choose the practitioner I feel is best for my needs. Yes, it all comes out of my pocket. But I get better care, with far less hassle, than I received while insured.
--One doctor I sometimes see had a conventional practice for thrity years. He was sick of dealing with the insurance issues and planned to retire. Instead, he switched to an alternative practice. The present system is chasing away good people.
--There are some things that could be done relatively quickly. The IRS currently only allows deductions for medical treatment after you have incurred a certain percentage (7%?) of your income. If we want people to be more self-sufficient--and I think we should encourage this--then why not let us deduct more of our medical expenses?
--Everyone knows that health care in the US is expensive. Some seem to think it is only a monetary issue. It is not; there are quality of care issues, too. I would like to see some comparative studies regarding health care in other countries. Over and over we hear that that US has the best health care in the world. Do we? We spend more on health care per person that any other country, but our mortality statistics are far worse. I think we should stop this nonsense about how good our health care is and try to learn from what others are doing. Even if we think ours IS the best, why not try to do better?
Clearly, I could go on and on. I won't. I'll just say that if you wish to start a heated discussion, just ask someone--almost anyone--if they're happy with their doctor and their health plan!
-
I'm up earlier today, and the sun is shining.
-
I recommend people see Sicko - it will, at the very least, show you things you may not know about - its portraits of France and England are especially eye-opening, even if you think Mr. Moore is larding it on, something is clearly working in those countries in terms of health care. And the point again is, even if the doctors and care aren't quite as good as the US (and we don't really know that to be true), if you can't afford the care in the first place, what's the difference.
-
Monday afternoon greetings! Today's my day off and I'm having trouble getting motivated to do errands.
TOD - Several weeks ago I visited our family doctor because I was having trouble getting rid of the cough that lingered after my NYC sinus infection. He started to prescribe 2 meds, then realized that my insurance company wouldn't pay for either. He changed the nasal spray to an alternate prescription med and for the pills, said, "Just get the over-the-counter equivalent - it's all the same." I came away from that visit with the feeling that some distant MBA was treating me instead of an MD who's known me for years.
-
So, who would you rather be with?
And why won't you be there, instead?
You owe it to yourself, Cilla.
Thanks Woody. I don't really want to discuss all of it in detail, since I have relatives who pop in here from time to time. It's a little more complicated than having a place I would rather be. I'm not staying there this Thanksgiving, but I am going up for the day. I may do something else over the weekend.
This Christmas, my grandnephew has his baptism on Christmas eve. I would like to be there for that. I think what I'm going to do is just cut the holidays short this year. I do love spending time with my parents. It's the rest of it that frustrates me.

Healthcare...
I have seen Moore's film, SICKO, and it does paint a sad picture of the American health care system. I have to agree with bk's assertion that many voters will not want to rock the boat concerning the issue.
I also know a number of people who do not have health care and that is sad. Granted, one may have to wait a bit for elective procedures in Canada and elsewhere but you can still get it. IN this country is it focused on greed, status and the ability to pay. What gets me is that many companies will not cover vision or dental but some will cover vanity surgeries so they can look like a supermodel. I have no issue with reconstructive surgery it is just the vanity surgeries that irk me. IMHO what benefit is there in looking like a supermodel when you cannot afford to get your teeth fixed so one can eat or your eyes checked so you can see.
Heck they will not even cover hearing aids...
I see corrected vision far more important than looking like you are 25 years younger than what you are. Granted certain aspects of the entertainment industry have not helped this matter.
This country wants to tout high standards for health but how can a country have such standards when it leads among the developed countries for infant mortality, suicide, obesity, heart disease, cancer and diabetes. I really question the abilities and standards of the medical community.
I agree with JRand.... Don't get sick!

It is wet and wild in the Pacific Northwet. Sustained winds of 40 and expecting gusts to 60. If I had been at work today, I probably wouldn't even notice the wind. But today is the day to honor or Veterans, so I am home. Actually, it is not easy to ignore the weather, now that weatherman Jim Castillo has returned from New York to work in the Seattle market once again.

Excellent points Jeanne and Cillaliz
I blame the insurance companies for a lot of the problems with the healthcare system.
WE need to emphasis preventative care more.
Jeanne, the government running anything makes me uneasy.

TCB!!!!
You have been missed...
How are you?
-
OK, now I'm really confused. What??? ??? ??? ???
Yesterday I asked you "What do I get?" - and there is the missed opportunity.
Tennessee Ernie Ford did give Frances a bouquet of lovely flowers on the steps of the Veteran's Hospital in Indy back in 1958. And as she said...."for no earthly reason"....she was there to get them. ;D
-
Do you have to use a broker to buy index funds?
-
I used my DD discount to buy both volumes of THE TIME TUNNEL.
Is one volume of VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA better than the others?
-
Hello, DR TCB! ;D
-
TCB!!!!
You have been missed...
How are you?
Hello DakotaCelt. Missed? I didn't know I was gone.

-
I am attending a mandatory all-day training session tomorrow on How To Be A Better Customer Service Representative.
It's called "Knock Your Socks Off" training.
Blech! :P
-
Hello, DR TCB! ;D
Do you have Jim Castillo's phone number? ;)
-
Hello, DR TCB! ;D
Good afternoon, Mr Blade (still morning for me)!
-
Do you have Jim Castillo's phone number? ;)
Actually, no, but I do have his e-mail address. ;)
-
What is everyone doing on this fine Monday off.
-
I've got someone coming here to pick up 100 Une Chambre En Ville CDs - supposed to be here at twelve-thirty - however, these people are notoriously late, so we'll see.
I may also have good news for the folks who wanted the Kritzer CD (the all on one properly mastered version, with the improved and fixed Kritzer Time sound) - I'll be hearing the master today, and if it's approved I'll let you know when it can be purchased - it will be a really nominal charge just to cover the actual costs.
-
Will we never get to page five?
-
Got a big amazon order today - but as I look at their stock, I'm not sure why they need this many more.
-
JMK, nice story about the veterans day program at the church
-
I love my Benjamin Kritzer CD's.
AND I am enjoying Un Chambre En Ville very much.
-
Glad you like Une Chambre En Ville - I listen to it quite often.
-
Off to the grocery...bye for now!
-
There was a short In-Between bumper on TCM last night that made me incredulous and then furious.
Some guy is SMASHING music into movies.....the example they used was LOGAN'S RUN. He puts different music from CD under scenes...and was talking all about "character" and decisions he makes concerning the content of a film or scene.
He does this live in LA.....outrageous!
-
DR JoseSPiano has inspired me... after several months of wussburgering, I went back to the gym this morning, in an attempt to kick-start my old routine. :)
That's The Enabler for you!
-
Glad you like Une Chambre En Ville - I listen to it quite often.
The song clip I liked most, is currently my favorite track:
"La Chambre de Hotel." ;D
I thought it was a quiet little film, but the photos in the booklet make it look like a big production! :D
-
Congrats to DR SINGDAW on his resolve to be the most buff Puritan in the clan.
Puritan in the Buff, that's the title of my next cabaret.
-
I am attending a mandatory all-day training session tomorrow on How To Be A Better Customer Service Representative.

Oh? You prefer my back to my front?

My those Puritans certainly were buff, weren't they? 8)
And probably smelled to high heaven since no one bathed then.
I am in Ohio; I ran into my copusin Jennifer by sheer chance and we have a dinner date for Thursday evening. Maddie and Max were thrilled to see me. Everyojne else is at work. I'm ready for a nap.

Glad to see the snark back... :)

It is wet and wild in the Pacific Northwet. Sustained winds of 40 and expecting gusts to 60. If I had been at work today, I probably wouldn't even notice the wind. But today is the day to honor or Veterans, so I am home. I'm listening to "Twiggy, London Pride"
On a related note, I'm listening to the soundtrack from ACROSS THE UNIVERSE.

I am listening to Kevin Spritas Days and Nights.....
There would be a lot of days that look like nights if you were in the cosmos!

what's that saying about a gift horse...

DR JRand57, what a wonderful photo of your 4-H days! As I was driving from the Dayton airport to I-75, I thought I should go west and visit you rathere than face Lady M, but I headed south instead. The plane left 30 minutes late and we arrived right on time. Hmmmm.
-
May the McBeths be struck with laryngitis
I vote for bronchitis. Much worse.
-
In the flesh? But then wouldn't I be naked?
It wouldn't be the first time. . . . ;)
-
Glad to hear that both DRs elmore3003 and Danise have arrived safe & sound.

DR JMK, go to the imdb.com and type in Paula's name. you'll see her other credits and then probably remember where you've seen her.

NDSU got hit every once in a while with that...
-
I may also have good news for the folks who wanted the Kritzer CD
Good news, indeed! :)
-
DR George, re: your DVR not taping DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. I would either a) erase the program and re-program it. Or manually set it up. It never fails that way!
-
I am reticent - oh YES, I am reticent.
You're not kidding! ;D
-
AOL Showtunes is playing SUNDAY from that other Sondheim show. One of the only songs in the show that I love.
-
What are we all doing, BK asks. Well, I'm TRYING to pay bills and review some bank statements, but (1) I did NOT want to get out of bed this morning, very unlike me, and (2) I keep getting interrupted. So I'm still working on what I usually have done by 1 pm. I'm also--obviously--distracted by HHW. I also took a walk and bought some art supplies. Not a very productive day, but IT'S A HOLIDAY!
-
I vote for bronchitis. Much worse.
with double pnuemonia!
-
Good news, indeed! :)
I second that! (Kritzerland CD)

BK, pls put me on the Kritzerland CD list.

JRand, I haven't forgotten about your friend in need of mutual funds. Will try to get back to you soon.

Those can never be bad things!

I have fond memories of my 4-H days and when I used to show in a livestock show at NDSU
However, I have to reserve my funniest observation for Little International, NDSU's livestock show
The last year I did the show in 1987, there was a gal there from Piscataway (or something like that), New Jersey and she was listed as showing a swine. From past experiences I knew better than to show swine or sheep. I was showing a Brown Swiss. Missed out on showing an Appie
The first day we were allowed into the barns to start working with the beasts and grooming, this gal comes in in white pants and open toe high heeled shoes. It left me wondering how the heck she got across an ice parking lot that has the evidence of ND snow removal or the lack of with her get up. Deena and I watched her walk in and proceed to the hog pens. She asked the person next to her how do I make the hog obey and how do I keep my clothes clean?
It was at the precise moment she stepped back and her foot landed smack dab into a pile of freshly deposited cow dung.
She violated two rules...
1. never wear open toe shoes in a barn
2. do not wear something that you are afraid will get dirty. You never know what you might rub against or knocked into.
-
Jeanne, if amazon actually paid for what I sent then I'd be thrilled. But it's all consignment, so when I see them sitting on twenty-three copies of a particular CD and they order twenty-seven more, then I have to wonder.
-
Will we never get to page seven?
-
Must get some work done.
TTFN.
Heigh ho heigh ho.
No problem, DR JEANNE. ;D
-
I really want to leave, but the people coming to pick up the CDs are notorious for not showing up on time and today seems to be no different.
-
I'll give them till one, then I'm going to get something to eat.
-
My 4-H experience had nothing to do with agriculture or livestock.
-
There was one guy that got dragged by his cow through the manure pile. He was from Chicago...
-
That is NO sheepskin, DR DAKOTACELT....
Pig Bristles....or something like that.
-
I also did a lot of stuff with food, public service and some clothing.
Through 4-H, I did get to go to Washington DC twice and Chicago.
On one of the trips they messed up the listing of people from ND and some of us ended up in the Kansas delegation group of rooms. I did not mind, there two VERY GOOD looking men next door.
-
amazing...
-
On one of the trips we went by bus from Fargo to DC. However, the bus broke down outside of Sterling, MI and we (all 65 of us) were dropped off at a McDonalds. Since it had a play center outside we took that over and declared it for the King of North Dakota! Complete with a banner and the ND flag... They were not happy with us when we tried to run the flag uip the flagpole.
We even held a mock trail the Montana interloper in our group....
AFter two hours, the bus came back to retreive us from Micky D's and we were off the wilds of southern Michigan before dipping into Ohio to proceed to Pennsylvania. We stayed at CHambersburg and got to visit Gettysburg.
If you are wondering why we did not go throgh Indiana, that is becuase the bus driver did not want to pay the toll and Indiana scared him.
-
My 4-H experience had nothing to do with agriculture or livestock.
Did it have anything to do with Future Farmers?
-
That is what sitting in a bus for a long period will do to one!
-
I wasnt in FFA...
nor in Future Homemakers of America.... (the local chapter that wreaked of Stepford wife approach to me... Robotic and perfect)
-
The bus took a wrong turn off of embassy row in DC and our bus got shot at...
Another highlight was seeing the Soviet Ambassador or some high ranking official at the stoplight next to our bus.
-
Just did some home-study Continuing Professional Education.
Any questions on the Alternative Minimum Tax - just let me know. :)
-
EVidently Red River Trails did not sit well. The bullet lodged in the seat of the driver and missed his but by not even an inch.
This is my only really bad memory I have of DC.
Despite the one summer I was there, it was one of the hottest summers on record.
-
I will say this, Coca Cola and Pepsi have a very different taste there than they do here.
Wonder if that has to do with the water or how they make it.
-
Good Afternoon!
I'm back from my morning of auditions... As well as back from afternoon jog at the gym - on the treadmill at least. A good (and sweaty) 45 minutes. Whew! I am now enjoying my post-workout smoothie - Blueberry-Banana today - and trying my best to catch up on the day's posts before I head back out again for Round 2 of today's auditions.
-
did they catch the shooter? thank goodness no one was hurt. did the driver maintain control of the bus?
-
*And I could tell that I probably should have gone to the gym this morning. -I'm glad I just went, but I could tell that my energy and concentration level was a bit low when I got started today. Although, playing that Opening Combination over and over and over again could have had something to with my fatigue. ;)
-
Number of the Beast department: back in my occult-laden 20s, I had a supercool baseball jersey made on which was emblazoned 666=543 (some of the Yeshiva boys may know the mystical meaning of 543), and then underneath it said:
Ubermensch--may be too intense for troglodytes.
I loved that shirt. ;D
-
i hope the wind calms down for sherlock's class. its really been blowing. at least the rain stopped.
-
Some of the places in DC and area I have visited: Library of Congress, Ag Department, Voice of America, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian (History and Space Museums), Old Post Office, Old Ford Theatre (even got to see a play there, On Shiloh's Hill), Wolf Trap, Arlington and the tomb of the unkown soldier, Burn Brae Dinner Theatre (got to see THe King and I)
Went to see our Congressional Delegation both times and only to the House and Senate galleries. The house one was fun, a fist fight broke out. Too bad some of my pics are in storage at my parents or I could share a picture with you. It was an adventure.
I even got to host a talent show. The gal from Kansas and I had way too much fun!
We stayed at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, MD.
-
did they catch the shooter? thank goodness no one was hurt. did the driver maintain control of the bus?
Not to my knowledge was he caught. The driver was very level headed bloke. He has driven in a few tough neighborhoods.
I do recall the National 4H center filing a complaint and the bus was repaired promptly, within 24 hours. Apologies were tendered to our delegation. What threw the driver off was some repair work and our hunch is that the construction guy had no clue that we were not a typical DC bus and waved us to go in the wrong direction.
-
Lunch ran very late, and I was disappointed that I wasn't going to have enough time to watch the entire LADY VANISHES this afternoon so I could start on the bonus features tonight. Oh, well, I'll have to get to the bonuses tomorrow.
-
I began my viewing by finishing up the CSI/WITHOUT A TRACE crossover episode. This got huge ratings last week, but it really was not among their better cases. It was only fair.
-
Next, I zipped through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. The gay characters were not there and they don't appear to be on tomorrow either.
-
I got my old copy of THE LADY VANISHES OUT and put it in one DVD player and put the new version in another DVD player. Immediately I was struck by the differences in tint. The old one has a slightly gun metal blue tint to it. The new one is unquestionably black and white. I guess due to the tint, the blacks and shadows seem to be richer (I just watched about ten minutes of it concurrently by switching back and forth between the two versions.)
The new Criterion continues their policy of slightly windowboxing the image. The old one doesn't do that.
As I said this morning, they've ported over the Bruce Eder commentary, so obviously it's the same on both.
-
i hope the wind calms down for sherlock's class. its really been blowing. at least the rain stopped.
Somehow I don't think Sherlock will blow over in the wind. Would that be dog tipping?
-
Ok gang, here's my new website. It just went up. It may need some tweaking (or is it tweeking?) in any event, at least I have a site now.

LOL, it takes me directly to the site, but that won't help business much, will it. Anyway, I emailed my web guy so hopefully it will be running soon...I'll let you know

Can someone try it again? He just emailed that it's up and working

THE LADY VANISHES has always been one of my favorite Hitchcock films. Of course, I may have to watch them all again and rethink it. :-)
-
I cleaned the dining room this morning, so I'll be heading down now to see if THE LADY VANISHES. Somehow I believe she will! ;D
-
Well, my dad got the site to work. If he can do it, anyone can ;)
-
THE LADY VANISHES has always been one of my favorite Hitchcock films. Of course, I may have to watch them all again and rethink it. :-)
Mine, too. The Hollywood movies Hitchcock did are so much slicker, of course, with greater production values and a richer look overall. But for sheer storytelling, it's hard to match it.
-
Off to start watching now.
WBBL.

Hi all, just wanted to let you know that I arrived home, safe and sound.
I went and got the dogs and took them to the dog park. They were so happy to see me. I felt bad that I had left them and that I'll have to leave them again sometimes.
I'm pretty tired but glad that I went and saw that the graves were as they should be. That takes one weight off of my mind.
I was also very glad to get with my family. I really enjoyed spending time with them.
Oh, I did see a plane in the distance just after we left Pittsburgh and it was heading West. I waved, just in case it was DR Elmore.
-
It is a go!
:)
Lovely photo of you ...
-
Thelma is coming over soon and I'm going out with her. I'm looking forward to seeing her and telling her all about my trip.
-
Glad to hear you arrived safely back in Florida Danise.

Cool website, Cilla!

Thank you DC. :)

Thelma just called, she's on her way to pick me up!

Thanks Dakota and Danise. I'm just glad it's working. Tim had some code wrong, but he fixed it and it's working, yeah
-
Welcome home DR Danise. Glad you arrived safe and sound. I can relate to feeling guilty leaving pets behind.
This was hard because it was the first time they ever went to a kennel. I think Sheena thought that she was left behind again. If you could have just seen the joy in that dogs eyes when she saw me. It was like she was saying, "You came back for me!"
I don't think Bear understood any of it. He's never been away from home like that before--well except the night he had to have the emergency surgery on his ear when Sheena got him.
-

I think the most important thing is that you make sure it's a reputable kennel (which I'm sure you did). They may not particularly like it, but the most important thing is that they are safe and have food and water while you are gone. You'll make it up to them with attention now that they are home.
-
OK, enough of the office today. At least the website is up and I got a little research done. That's good enough
-
What? No HHW in the "links" section? :)
Seriously, great website - very impressive!
-
CDs were finally picked up, but only took half of what they'd originally ordered - they said the other half would be a week or so down the line. Don't much care for that sort of thing.
-
Any questions on the Alternative Minimum Tax - just let me know.
Yes: Why doesn't Congress get it together and fix the damn law? :)
-
Sit down, John, sit down, John, for God's sake, please, sit down
Someone ought to open up a window.

What is everyone doing on this fine Monday off.
I'm watching "Grey's Anatomy." That's it. :)

DR Cillaliz - Congratulations on a professional and functional web site!! It will be interesting to see if it generates referral business.

bk, I have thoroughly enjoyed une chambre en ville.
How did you get the screen shots from the film for the CD booklet? Do you think the actors pre-recorded their vocals and then lip-synched as the film was being shot? And - how did they learn all those notes??!! It's like an entire opera of recitative!

Looks very nice; however,
Priscilla E. Forsyth, Attorney at Law, has a general law practice that includes her dedication to defending the rights of those accused of crime in both Federal Court and in Iowa and to assisting immigrants in, obtaining residence, seeking asylum, obtaining Visas and becoming Naturalized United States Citizens, in removal proceedings and other areas of immigration law.
needs some serious punctuation help.

DR George, re: your DVR not taping DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. I would either a) erase the program and re-program it. Or manually set it up. It never fails that way!
I'll try those...next time. :-\ But I will also try recording it on my other DVR AND having my sister and/or niece record it at their house. Last night, I did watch last week's episode on-line, so that's an option, but I just don't want to wait a whole week to watch them. :P
-
Sit down, John, sit down, John, for God's sake, please, sit down
Someone ought to open up a window.
Too many flies. Too many flies.
-
I don't think any of the actors did their own singing - all studio singers, as was the case with Umbrellas.
I had photos from the film - they're not screen shots, as there's never been a video of the film, although I did get a bootleg on VHS years ago, but it's basically unwatchable.
-
DR Cillaliz - Congratulations on a professional and functional web site!! It will be interesting to see if it generates referral business.
Thanks! Yes, I'm curious about what it generates, but for the cost and knowing the number of people who search the web, I think it will be worth it, especially for my criminal cases. Lots of family members from out of town search for attorneys for their loved ones using the web.
I put the web address in my phonebook ad, which came out a couple weeks ago. So, I have been racing to get the site up so people can cross reference if they so desire. I have had a couple people ask me when my site was going to be up, so I'm glad it's finally done.

Yes I noticed that as soon as it was officially up. That's what I meant by it needs tweaking. I thought that line was a mess, but decided that getting it up and running was the most important thing. I plan to have that fixed tomorrow.
-
I think everyone should visit Cilla's site - excellent.
-
TCB, you haven't been paying attention! Jim's been back for a while, now. ;)
Oh, I am well aware of when Jim returned to Seattle. I listened to him the first morning he was on KOMO - AM. I think I wrote it in my diary.

Here's a new one on me - Two days ago I went to my usual local gas station and filled up my car - forty-nine bucks worth. Today, I go to check my paypal account (which is the cc I used for the transaction). There I found the forty-nine dollar "completed" charge, but below it I also found a $75 "pending" charge from the same gas station. Of course, I called paypal - their customer service is really top-notch. She told me that it is becoming more and more common for gas stations to do this - you swipe your card, and it automatically puts in this seventy-five dollar charge to protect itself from runaways (although if they have your card, why would anyone run away - what good would it do?). Then, when the sale is complete, the charge for the actual amount goes through, BUT the gas station doesn't lift the pending charge and, from what the nice lady told me, if people don't happen to check their paypal accounts as I did and notice what's going on, that pending charge (which is not real because the actual charge has already gone through) could conceivably stay on your account for up to thirty days. I find that outrageous, and perhaps Cilla could file a class action lawsuit against that and any gas station who resorts to that tactic. Happily, the paypal lady removed the pending charge and I suddenly had seventy-five more bucks in my account. Glad I checked.

DR Danise - now that you're back, safe and sound, when are you returning to the 'burgh?

When THAT diary goes up on Ebay, let me know! I'd be the highest bidder! ;)
You shouldn't have to bid on it. After all, you are in every chapter.

DR Edi! How lovely to see you this fine Monday evening!

I think everyone should visit Cilla's site - excellent.
Thanks BK, of course it doesn't compare with the most popular site on the net ;)
-
Can someone try it again? He just emailed that it's up and working
Cilla, it's working and looking wonderful, but there's an egregious error of omission on the Bio section--absolutely nothing about your posting habits at HHW.
-
Cilla--it looks GREAT! Congratulations! May it bring you lots of good clients!

Der Brucer - just so you know I have rewritten that first sentence, breaking it into two sentences and changing it so that it is no longer simply quite atrocious

Hi td!
I feel sneezy and wheezy and fine, after a day of mulch making.
I'm trying to get all my favorite plants mulched because it is supposed to rain on Wed. Trying to water with "grey water" doesn't go far...

Cillaliz-
What a Wonderful Site. May you be blessed with much business because of it.

Ok gang, here's my new website. It just went up. It may need some tweaking (or is it tweeking?) in any event, at least I have a site now.
www.priscillaforsythlaw.com
Congratulations! It's a very nice website. :D

Thanks! We spent a lot of time putting it together. I'm glad you all like it. Der B - if you find any other grammatical nightmares, let me know - I'd prefer to fix things now.

I feel sneezy and wheezy and fine, after a day of mulch making.
Little known fact: that was the original lyric for "But Alive."
Speaking of lyrics, Gabe has suddenly discovered music (can true teendom be far behind?) and is now a fan of Green Day. I got him a CD today, despite the Explicit Lyrics warning (he had already warned me, LOL, and Betsy had checked them out on You Tube). I think I'm officially a naughty parent--if my parents ever had heard me listening to lyrics like these, I'd be VanGogh'ed, twice. ;)

Law and Peace - the art on my links page, was painted by a good friend of mine, Trevor Goring (you can get to his site if you click on the painting). He's from Canada. He shows his law related art at NACDL meetings. I have a very large gicle of Law and Peace hanging in my conference room. And one of his Abraham Lincoln's in my office.

Funny John Doyle reference department: we had our first production meeting for Project X yesterday (at least the first that I've been to after my big first week on the job), and the director totally cracked me up. We were talking about John Doyle, and he said the next step is obviously to have all the actors either wear mining helmets or carry flashlights in their mouths (as they continue to play their instruments), and that way they can replace the lighting designers, too. :)
-
Somehow I don't think Sherlock will blow over in the wind. Would that be dog tipping?
;D true, he is far more sturdy than i am. i was also a bit concerned driving the freeway in the high winds without 2 good hands. the directway guy came to install the new boxes & said he almost blew off the road, but then he was driving a van.
it began raining by the time we got to class so class was moved inside, which is normally crowded but there were only two dogs today. i think people thought it was a holiday.

Glad you made it there and back ok, DR Jane

Wouldn't it be nice if Danise could move up north where she could be closer to both of her families.

If you don't like politics or they offend you....skip this.....
I can not believe that Obama is complaining about Clinton planting someone to ask her a question. While it is about like FEMA having a press conference and the only "press" there are employees of FEMA....Obama bussed in lots of out of staters for the Jefferson/Jackson Day dinner and then claimed he had the most vocal support from Iowans. Oh Puhleese

Gabe is giving me breaking news reports as to when the next Green Day swear word is coming up. :)

Well, I've just watched three episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" and I still have two more to be all caught up...but then I still have six episodes of "Big Shots" and four of "Private Practice." How am I supposed to rehearse for the show I'm in when I have so much TV to watch?? ;)
So, I'm off to practice (meaning learn/memorize) my lines. Sadly, TV must wait. Until later!
-
As the token Iowan here, if you have any questions you would like me to ask a candidate, please let me know and I'll see what I can do. More so than the Clinton's did when they were here together.
-
I just answered a telephone poll. It was clearly from OBama's camp even though they didn't identify themselves as such. They asked what I thought was wrong with Clinton, and what I thought was wrong with Edwards but didn't mention Obama, lol.
His strategy is the same as Howard Dean's was in Iowa. I think that is a total mistake.
The Republican ads, especially Mitt Romney, are slamming Hillary. Too funny. I really don't think she'll win Iowa

Thus endeth the political update of the day

I don't consider seventy-five bucks a small amount and, according to paypal, had I not called in to find out the deal, I would have been out my seventy-five bucks for thirty days (remember, the REAL charge had gone through and was completed - the seventy-five was listed as "pending" even though the sale was completed - sorry, but that's illegal and wrong).
-
Will we never get to page ten?
-
I've had them do a one dollar charge to test it, but never a $75 charge. That sounds fishy to me

Time to watch DWS

;D i read that as 75 cents. i'm tired and sore after sherlock's class.
either someone punched a wrong button or this station has a history of doing this & should be reported.

I couldn't agree more (and Lordy knows I'm no Clinton fan!). Planting questions is basic PR - everybody does (or ought to) do it. Now, having the questioner misrepresent themselves is another matter.

Bruce since this is your usual station i suggest calling & speaking to the owner or manager. you might be doing them a favor letting them know what happened. i'd also question the long pending period.

ane, I think I will be talking to them - although the station itself wouldn't be the one setting the charge. But, as per paypal lady, no one pushed a wrong button - she sees it happening more and more with gas stations - it's not making paypal happy, and perhaps they'll step in and do something about it.

The problem is momentum. With the primaries and caucuses all moving up more and more it's going to be harder to rebound from a loss than it used to be. At least that's one school of thought

Changed my mind on that post. So I deleted it.

I found this:
"Some merchants authorize for more than the amount of your purchase. In certain industries, such as gasoline, restaurant, hotel, etc., the business standard may be to over authorize by $10 or $50, or by some other pre-designated amount, in order to ensure that the necessary funds to cover your purchase are available. After you've made your purchase, the merchant will confirm the actual amount within a few business days of the transaction. Upon receipt of the confirmation, your available funds will be adjusted to reflect the appropriate available funds.
For example: A gas station may over authorize your Card for $50 (usually only at pay-at-the-pump stations) even if you only pump $10 worth of gasoline. This will reduce your available funds by $50 for a short period of time. Within a few business days, the merchant will send the confirmation of your purchase for only $10. Upon receipt of that confirmation, your available funds would increase by the $40 that was being held by the $50 over authorization.
It is recommended that when using your prepaid Card for gasoline that you pay inside the station rather than use the pay-at-the-pump in order to avoid this type of over-authorization."

Yes, I'm back for a moment to catch up on the day. I napped about an hour this afternoon and Randy was home when I woek up. We visited a bit, and then Jo got home with a car full of groceries, and she prepared a wonderful dinner including the tenderest roast beef, mashed potatoes, carrots, and other tasty items. She told me that Lady M called her this morning at 7:30 bitching about my latest email concerning the estate taxes. All I did was report to my brothers the total amount due and what we each owed. She seems to imply they're not paying any of this. Do I need a proctologist to remove her head from her ass?
I wish she hadn't missed her distemper shots this year.

I'm watching Meet The Robinsons, a very loud movie.
I'm watching Irwin Allen's THE LOST WORLD. There is a poodle in it along with Jill St. John. I don't think I've seen this movie since it was on ABC's Sunday Night Movie or some other network's variation of that.
Fernando Lamas is muy caliente. Oh my! The explorers have just reached the plateau and are camping (well, it is Jill St. John AND a poodle) for the night.
I shall return to it in a few minutes or so. .

bk - As for the "hold charge"... Hotels do it all the time, and it's usually worse. They are legally able to put a hold on the full amount of your stay when you check in, and that hold does not fall off your account until a couple days after you check out. -Although, some credit card companies will take off the hold when you call them. *I actually keep a separate credit card for that purpose - I use it for check-in - then when I check out, I give the front desk another card to put all the room charges on. This way I don't have a "ghost" double charge temporarily depleting my funds.
As for gas stations... They used to put a hold of $0.01 on your account - basically to make sure it was a real, active card. However, with the current gas prices - and the rash of pump-and-go drivers - they've had to authorize larger amounts. And they are apparently well within their rights - and your rights - to do that. I saw a few news stories on it last year when the practice started.
As mentioned, going inside to have your card swiped is a "better" way to pay for your gas when using a credit card. The other option is to use a Debit card.
-
Hmm... I'm sleepy already... :-\

DR Danise - Welcome Home! :)

DR elmore - Welcome

I didn't even know you could buy gas with paypal. Do you get a card from them, or how does it work?

I just got a really nice email from the star/producer of "10 Items or Less" whish said that he absolulte loved the stuff I cut last week for the web and didn't change a thing. That's good in a way, but I could have used the work that revisions would have meant. Still, it makes me feel better about the other thing...
-
...which is the fact that our Johnny Mercer documentary seems to be crashing and burning.
We're still going to interview Johnny's daughter in a few weeks, but that may be the end of my involvement.
A major league movie producer who hails from Savannah has decided to do his own documentary about Mercer. Not only will he be able to get the funds (he produces blockbusters but I worked with him 30 years ago when he was just starting out) but he has enlisted a production team that does really great music documentaries. I would love to work with these guys but I'm sure they would use their regular editor.
Oh well, I'll know more after a conference call tomorrow afternoon, but it doesn't look good for our little film...
-
DR Elmore, welcome to HELL!
I hope it is as painless as possible...

OK, time to go mop the floor with Bruce.

I also saw these at the grocery---just in time for Thanksgiving!
That Bruce and his product placement!

Yes, you can get a paypal credit card - it's a MasterCard.
"For example: A gas station may over authorize your Card for $50 (usually only at pay-at-the-pump stations) even if you only pump $10 worth of gasoline. This will reduce your available funds by $50 for a short period of time. Within a few business days, the merchant will send the confirmation of your purchase for only $10. Upon receipt of that confirmation, your available funds would increase by the $40 that was being held by the $50 over authorization."
The problem is that the merchant confirmed the completed sale of forty-nine dollars, but the hold of seventy-five additional dollars was still there and, according to paypal, had I not called, would have stayed there for up to thirty days. That is completely unacceptable and I don't see how it's within any businesses "rights" to do such a thing. The hotel thing I understand.
-
I finished THE LADY VANISHES. Just as wonderful and suspenseful as always. Hitchcock even at this relatively early stage in his career seems to have known what he was doing to craft a superior entertainment.
-
I agree Bruce.
I had a big fight with Lexis Nexis last week over $563.00 they billed my credit card and to this day have not explained to me what it was for. I called and disputed it and raised holy hell with the company for a couple weeks, which led to me getting the charge taken off my account immediately and then they tried to overcharge me on a contract I have signed, finally they agreed to give me a step up in my contract for a huge discount rate. I did some research today and love it. I finally have everything I need - which means I'll probably do more research and it will actually pay for itself.
BUT, if I hadn't gone over my statement line by line, and wondered what on earth I bought that increased the balance that much, I would be out $563.00. Now that's insane.
-
I went back and listened to about 2/3 of the commentary. Sounds like they've amended a couple of parts of it, but I'll have to play the old disc tomorrow to see if my suspicions are correct.
Also tomorrow, I'll watch the features on the second disc which included another entire film featuring Naunton Wayne and Basil Radford as Caldicott and Charters.
-
CHUCK had another excellent episode (nice to see Kevin Weisman in a guest star role as a bad guy) and a slightly new turn in the direction of the show.
-
HEROES was the best episode it's had this season, I think, even if Maya was in it. A really good fill-in-the-blanks episode.
-
And I loved JOURNEYMAN tonight, too. The show hasn't caught on at all, and once NBC runs the episodes it has on hand, I'm sure it won't be renewed, but I'm enjoying the ride for as long as it operates.
-
Tomorrow I'll get caught up with tonight's CSI: MIAMI and I also have Sunday's DEXTER to watch.
-
Going to write for a bit now and then head down for bed.
Good night!

Sometime when you have a moment (yes, that's probably a joke), look up Arnold & Marshall v. Brooksfilms. Full of fascinating stuff (just the judge's decision is available, at least the last time we checked). Finding these records helped really crack part of the mystery of Frances Farmer for me. I quote some of the best lines from the Judge in my web article--reading his judgment was like at least a little bit of justice finally getting done.

My guess is, DR CILLA LIZ, that in most law offices, the person paying the bills is not usually the person who ordered/uses the software, so it is probably a common practice.

Been adding some information and photos to my Allison Hayes FreeWeb site.
I first found out about Allison's calcium supplement problems from an article in the WALL STREET JOURNAL accessed during a computer class using Lexis-Nexis.

Oy--there were three, count'em, three really bad accidents I had to deal with on the way to a gig tonight. One of them was really, really bad--right before the entrance to a very narrow bridge, where we all had to turn left. They had our lane blocked and we had to drive largely blind into the oncoming lane to get around them. I was scared, no doubt about it. The other two at least had been pulled off to the side by the time I got there.

I have been listening to Elgar (recommended by DRJOSE) and Jacky Terrason (recommended by DR ARNOLD BROCKMAN).
Very nice.

I looked out of the parking ramp today when I finally got to work and mentioned to the friend I was talking on the phone to that it looked like a bus must have hit someone because there were police cars, a bus stopped in the intersection etc.
What do you know. I turned on the news tonight and a bus DID hit someone. From what I could see from the news, I think she had the right of way. They made a big deal about how she was talking on a phone...so what, if she's got the right of way..

Something really freaky just showed up which shows what the internet can do.
When "Count Three and Pray" opened in Missouri, Allison was part of the Hollywood contingent. Much was made of the fact that she met the local president of the FFA, Jerry Litton of Chillicothe.
Poking around on the net, I find that Mr Litton later served in the House of Representatives for Missouri and was on his way to becoming one of its Senators, when he, his wife, and daughters were killed in the crash of a small airplane...in 1976.

Looks interesting. I do have many moments, too many actually. I tend to either be totally into what I'm doing or I stress and don't get anything done. I've always been that way, so I go with it. I'm hoping tomorrow will be the beginning of another productive phase.

So many offices just pass Lexis Nexis charges on to the client automatically, so I'd bet a lot gets overlooked.

Just did a delightful interview with cute little Jody Fair, star of THE BRAIN EATERS (1958), HOT ROD GANG (1958), GHOST OF DRAGSTRIP HOLLOW (1959), and SEX KITTENS GO TO COLLEGE (1960)

I'm sure it does and they panic a bit when you call them on it.

DR CILLA LIZ does Lexis Nexis have information about cases that did NOT go to trial, but were settled out of court?

No, it wouldn't have a settlement. It would have a court decision of some sort so if a motion was filed and a ruling made, then there would be an opinion, but not all of those are reported. On the state level, it's usually just appeals. On the federal level, you may get some district court rulings, but mostly it's appeals there too.

DR JRand - it was more like "We're looking into that" or "I have 5 different people checking into that" the last time he finally said "You're not going to have to pay it, ok?"

Now I must get some sleep.....tomorrow is a day that must be productive and so it shall be.

My son the future attorney department: Cilla, you may get a kick out of this. We were cleaning up in the kitchen and I found a little story by Zach about a big dinosaur that gets run over by a Mac truck. It was entitled "The Story of Barne." When I told Zach that's not how you spell Barney, he replied, without missing a beat, "I did it that way to avoid copyright issues." ;D
Well, that apple didn't fall far from the tree!

Cilla,
I find your comments rather interesting and ironically i can see similar words stated about online databases and journals for academic libraries. it is shocking what the prices are.
The scholars do not get any thing for their submissions but for libraries and stuff to subscribe the prices are ridiculous. One of the journals costs over 800 a year for four issues.

I'm watching Meet The Robinsons, a very loud movie.
Next to Transformers, it is quiet!

1. Will he retain ADA?
2. Will he do away with No Child left behind?
Both of these issues are basically up to Congress.
I can't imagine a congress doing away with either one. Though there are those of us who think ADA needs a major overhaul to help eliminate the abuses - wheel-chair accessible dance platforms, all buses wheel-chair accessible, etc.
There are also those of us who think the Federal government should get out of the Education business (almost) entirely. (I could support a small Federal agency that helped coordinate state efforts at standardization.) The Federal Government unfunded mandates in the area of Special Ed is a major contributor to the decline in public education. Although states are spending more per pupil - huge amounts of these funds get sucked up into SpecEd programs and the regular classrooms suffer.

Wonderful!
Last Saturday was Children's Day in the forest.
My daughter was so pleased to send me a photo of the Grandlads, decked out in camouflage, proudly posing over the decapitated, gutted carcass of a young deer :'(
The 11 year olds first kill! (And boy is the 8 year old jealous).
WARNING - NOT A PRETTY PICTURE!
