Well, you've read the notes, the notes were late, late, and now it is time for you to post until the late, late cows come home.   Meanwhile, there's these ten lords a-leaping to deal with.

It is possible to have older releases in the ten best IF they made their CD debut this year.  I'll have my list at some point today, but of older releases that I discovered this year, so many!  And I'll start with the most recent - the Sefano di Battista/Vince Mendoza album, and Vince Mendoza's Epiphany and Symphonic.  Brilliant albums both.  About fifty percent of some of the bossa nova CDs I discovered this year are terrific, too.

'Sweeney Todd'

Tim Burton's scaled-down adaptation chooses style over substance. The result, however, is still a pretty enjoyable film.
By Carina Chocano
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

December 21, 2007

TIM BURTON'S adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's masterpiece "Sweeney Todd" is a funny, moody musical blood bath. It's also notably cuter than its famous theatrical predecessors -- which I guess is what happens when you cast Johnny Depp as the serial throat-slitter and Helena Bonham Carter as his cannibal pie-making accomplice.

"Sweeney Todd" may be the most outrageously macabre piece of musical theater ever created, but Burton can't help but make it pretty too

Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett should look like a pair of depraved old bags next to the young lovers, but under the circumstances they look more like casually debauched rock stars.

Funny...cute...pretty - what film did he see!

Depraved old bags!  There is no reason why either character need be much past 35! (Apprenticed at 14, married at 16, transported at 18, return 15 years later.)

Sweeney Todd, like Shakespeare, is not about the story - the greatness lies in the telling thereof - "style" is a great deal of what it is about.

Interesting that the reviewer makes no comment at all on the star of the film - the grand sounds that fill the theatre from the first moment till the end. Commenting on ST without noticing the music is like reviewing 2001 as a silent film.

Saturday morning greetings!  Today is the first of my 5-in-a-row off and I'm up early to bake Christmas cookies.  We're going to try for a Sweeney Todd matinee.

DR JRand - our Christmas tree is not in the front picture window, but that newel you admired is visible from the street.  The tree can be seen from Central Ave. and the cross-street and, most importantly to me (as the chief cook and baker), from the kitchen.

Too late now - but for future reference:

Always always always use Delivery Confirmation with the USPS.....my sister Molly's Christmas Box of Prezzies NEVER EVER made it to Seattle.  Mailed via Parcel Post on December

Included in the box was a necklace, bracelet, earrings to match the dress she wore to the wedding; a book for my brother in law and a set of Dean Martin DVD movies (w/o Jerry Lewis), a box of matched stationery, and three James Dean DVD's + DREAMGIRLS on DVD.

I hope whoever stole it or found it has a Merry Christmas.

Helping you mellow out and regain your senses are mentally-stimulating 72-degree links from Mercury to Uranus (5:43AM PST) and from Venus to Saturn (1:57PM PST). The former can give you revelatory brainstorms while the latter can bring stable conditions back into storm-tossed relationships. The main event of the day arrives tonight when the Sun unites with Jupiter in Capricorn (9:57PM PST). This is one of the most superlative conjunctions of the year since it connects the two largest bodies in the solar system. You definitely need to examine your most important life themes and issues. See the big picture of why you are here on Earth at this time. What can you do to make the world a better place? Can you spread goodwill and encouragement throughout a weary and exhausted humanity looking for inspired individuals who can bring light into darkened areas of the globe? Evening meditations are welcome as the dynamic Full Moon comes into manifestation on Sunday.

Who knew a Mercury link with Uranus could have such an effect?

Jon Hamm who plays the leading role of Don Draper in MAD MEN has been cast as Dr. Grainer in the remake of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL....this may correspond to the Hugh Marlowe role in the original.

Keanu Reeves is playing Klaatu and Jennifer Connelly plays Helen.  The film directed by Scott Derrickson from a script by David Scarpa has been filming in Vancouver since December 12.

I don't think a remake is necessary.....but I guess time will tell.  My guess is that the whole thing will cause this earth to be reduced to a burned out cinder in the blinking of an eye.

Hi folks!  I'm sorry I haven't been around.

I think I'm still in recovery mode from my surgery.  I was so tired when I got home from work that I barely made dinner before I went to bed.

Guess what I got in the mail yesterday?  Instant Snow!  "Just add water and stir!"  "Makes over 2 Quarts of snow!"  Who knew there was such a thing?  Well, guess who sent it to me?

So that's the white stuff I'm seeing on TV.   Now I only want to know why you northern people make so much of the stuff that you bury your cars with it?  I mean, don't you think that's going a bit to far???? ;)  :)

There is good news on the "upright freezer front."

After having been unplugged for a day, and having been cleaned out and then plugged in again, it has resumed its ability to freeze everything.

My mother is actually delighted, NOW that she has thrown out the old stuff and has a clean freezer to reload.

I hate it when things get "lost" in the mail.

Or when people break into other peoples houses and steal things.   I had a co worker have that happen to her this week.  They made off with her new wide screen tv and other various items.

If they were strong enough to make off with the TV, why couldn't they get a job loading trucks and EARN the money to buy themself a TV.  Bums.

No, because nothing was actually "ruined."  During the cleanout (and reapportioning its contents to two other units), much "old" stuff was tossed, fully frozen.

A bag of strawberries and a bag of cherries from 2003, for instance.  Sorry...but I don't think I'd be eating those no matter what.

I also didn't tell you all my other news.

I think I told you that I did community theater some years ago.   Anyway, I won an award for the work I did in “Evita”—the theaters version of “Best Supporting Actress".  It was called the "Silvia Jones Award".

Much to my surprise, I received an email from someone who is gathering all of the winners of that award from over the years to have some kind of gathering.

I’m thrilled and am very much looking forward to attending it.

DR Danise - I'm trying to think of a female supporting part in Evita.  Would that be the young mistress that sings "Another Suitcase"?

In any case, that's a nice tribute and surprise for you!  :)

I was her Mother and the Nurse who was with her when she died and lots of other little bits.  Everyone said it was my expressions that caught peoples eye.

The gal that played "Evita" said she always knew where she was in the play by looking at me.  I either looked at her with love/worship or anger/hate.

That was the play where one of the guys and I changed from "poor" to "rich" all in one number.   That was a lot of fun!

We both mastered the art of the "quick change".   ;D

Good morning, all!  DR Danise, I look forward to your report of the  Silvia Jones festivities!

DR Der Brucer, the "Mame" reference to SWEENEY TODD reminds me of when Billy Bob Thornton named A CHORUS LINE one of the best horror films of 1985.

My plans are all work-related today: historical report on "The Lady of The Slipper," a trek to the main NYPL, and after that, a movie date with my friend Matthew.  The possibilities are NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN or ATONEMENT, he'll call later and we'll decide.

TOD:
  Entre Nous: Celebrating Offenbach
The Rake's Progress (1953, Metropolitan Opera, Stravinsky conducting)

I know how I feel about this situation, and suspect I'm being unreasonable, but here goes.

We had bought a really nice Christmas gift for a close friend.  We just got a card that in lieu of a Christmas gift, that friend is donating money to a very worthy charity in our honor.  My feeling is that you should let people know in advance if you're going to do this, that there will be no exchanging of gifts, so you can reciprocate accordingly.

I hate to sound uncharitable, because that's not the way I am.  I donate plenty to worthy charities, but I don't call them gifts in honor of somebody, especially people whom I have every reason to believe are putting some thought into buying a gift for me, and then not letting them know until three days before Christmas that I'm doing that.

I say:  Donate to a worthy charity if your heart tells you to do that, but don't turn it into a one-gift-fits-all gift to all your friends, especially if you have reason to believe they're at least trying to do something special for you for Christmas.

DR Singdaw,

I was really not going to buy THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT on Blu-ray. I figured the sDVDs would be fine enough since I really prefer seeing the entire films these excerpts come from. However, getting the review copies was a gift out of the blue, and now I have an sDVD TE set that someone will enjoy.

I didn't remember that those 4:3 musical scenes had been zoomed in and made widescreen in the original theatrical showing. I saw TE first at the Ziegfeld in NYC with an audience that applauded the numbers and stars as if they were seeing a live show (I was among those who were applauding.)

I don't like the zooming. It makes the natural film grain much more pronounced in the viewing experience, and I find that bothersome. And since they don't do it on all the 4:3 material, it seems rather stupidly random, especially when something like "An American in PAris" begins as 4:3 and in the middle of it stretches out.

Robert Harris mentioned in his "thoughts" the other day that the OZ and HIGH SOCIETY segments looked awesome in HD. I can see that they would. They looked stupendous upconverted last night as did HIT THE DECK and SEVEN BRIDES. GIGI didn't seem to gain anything from the upconversion.

I couldn't name a top ten CD list for 2007. I didn't buy 10 CDs this year, I don't think, and several of the ones I did buy are still lying in a stack unopened so I don't know if they're any good or not. So, I'll have to opt out of making a list for today's TOD.

Well, the industry does want to move to high def DVDs, but at least they're backward compatible with standard DVDs. And Microsoft is hoping that all media needs will eventually be satifsied by downloading so you don't have to buy the media in disc form. I think that is a long way off.

Those of us who were into laserdiscs faced just such a challenge. Try finding a laserdisc player now that works.

Don't give up hope, JR--parcel post can take up to 6-8 weeks, believe it or don't.  My sister in NC and I found that out a few holidays ago, which is why we now spring for priority (with delivery confirmation).

DR singingnymphy, go to Amazon.com and see if they're selling any "new and used" copies at lower prices.  I buy a lot of things on the Amazaon market as opposed to the store.

It seems strange posting Spoilers about a show that would seem common knowledge to anyone on this site!

I forgot to mention in reference to DR cillaliz' comment about the audience she was with laughing during bleeding in SWEENEY that no one laughed at any of those moments in the audience that Charlotte and I were in.  In fact, I believe the three bloodiest moments are Pirelli's, since it's the shocking first death, the Judge's since he'sthe focus of Sweeney's vengeance, and Sweeney's.  Everything in between is relatively goreless, since he couldn't be messing up his shop, could he?, in case another customer showed up.

DR JRand - As DR JMK stated, sometimes Parcel Post can take weeks(!!!).*  Especially at this time of year.  If you just mailed the package earlier this month there is still a chance (your post just said "mailed on December    " - and I'd say a good one - that it will arrive at it's destination sometime in the, hopefully, near future.

*I still remember mailing a package from Fairfax to Richmond a few years ago via Parcel Post.  It wasn't a time-sensitive package, so I figured I'd save a few dollars instead of sending it via First Class or Priority.  Well... If I dropped off small packages and letters at the Merrifield Post Office in Fairfax before Noon, 90% of the time, they would get to Richmond the following day - with no special handling or charges - since Merrifield is a regional post office, and the mail would right onto the trucks from there down to Richmond. At the most, mail from Merrifield to Richmond too three days.  Now, when I mailed that Parcel Post package, it took 15 days!  I could have walked it down to Richmond faster than that.  A couple of times.

Fred, I heartily concur with your comments. In fact, several years ago a close friend had had a stroke and I was trying to help him financially. I couldn't afford to do that PLUS do Christmas presents, so I informed my usual giftees--in advance. I wasn't sure how this would be received--some people shop very early, etc--but actually, it was received very well. But it's not fair to do as your friend did. People must be informed BEFORE the holidays.

Re:  donating to charity for gifts.  Well, I'll be the contrarian (what else is new?).  We made a conscious decision to try make our "gifting" (hate that word, but there ya have it) more conscious this year and decided to make most of our major gifts to our families contributions to various charities.  We did, however, tell them that, which may be Fred's complaint.  I should say my sister had already gotten us a lovely boxful of presents for both the kids and Betsy and me and I told her I felt a little guilty, and she said that was a fine, Jewish thing to feel.  :)

My "secret Santa" at Cinderella also made a donation to No More Malaria in my name this week and I think that was a fine way to "gift" someone.

As for donating to a charity in someone's name...  I've always wondered:  If some donated some money to a charity in my name, does that mean that I could ask them for the amount donated so that I could declare that on my taxes?

And in other news...

Both my parents are out at CarMax right now selling the "extra" car.  Which means I am up the creek without a paddle - or at least in Richmond without a set a of wheels.  However, my Dad has said that I can use his car since they never go out, so...  Of course, I was hoping to head over to Steve's family's Christmas celebration this afternoon, but I guess I can't do that right now.  Ah, well.

At least the Mall is walking distance from here - as well as the movie theatres.

Someone could establish the "Levain Enablers Foundation" which could in turn provide fellowship grants to elligle Filipino Keyboardists.

Echo

This majestic creature is Echo, the red-tailed hawk. She was found near Salt Lake City, with a wing full of gangrene. Unfortunately, part of the wing had to be removed to save her. She cannot hunt without a full wing, and would starve to death if released into the wild. So she came to Best Friends, which is state and federally licensed to keep her. Echo now plays a very important role as an educational bird, to be shown to youths learning about wildlife.

Echo was born around 2000. She is an absolute goddess of a bird with her topaz eyes and incredible wingspan.

They even have gift cards:

I began my afternoon viewing by finishing HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER'S STONE. I still find the ending recitation in Dumbledore's office of what happened in the pit to be the least satisfying of all the POTTER films. Love the final point count in the Great Hall and the goodbyes with Hagrid at the station, but that explanation section is just not especially well directed, I don't think.

And the kids have certainly improved their acting ability considerably since this first effort.

Then, I began with the DVD edition of THE TUDORS. Sad to say, these are not great transfers. They're kind of soft with lackluster color and contrast that keeps things just the tiniest bit "foggy." On Showtime-HD, the show was sumptuous, but these first three episodes certainly weren't that at all (though the second and third looked a bit better than the first.)

My sister is at present looking after her daughter's (and "son-in-law's") home which is on a vinyard in the Yarra Valley. My niece's partner "runs" the vinyard on the Nellie Melba estate.  I think the rain would be very welcome indeed. At least it will fill the dams used for watering the vines in January and February.  The Yarra River will certainly benefit from the run off from all the rain - it has been running low for so long.

DR FJL re: your problem.

I think some people probably don't know what to give others, so they go the donation route.

And maybe some others can't be bothered to think out what to get.

I also think that some people think that people would be pleased to have money donated on their behalf.

I think it was Barbara Walters on the VIEW last week who also mentioned that SHE HATES IT when people donate on her behalf.

I'm not really sure how to handle it. I mean if your friend is a close one then maybe have a discussion. Although it might cause hurt feelings.

Continuing the gift-to-charty thing:  In this situation, we'd always exchanged gifts every year for many many years, so it came as a real surprise to find this out on Dec. 22.  A couple of other friends told me at the end of November that they wouldn't be doing Christmas gifts this year, and that's of course OK.

I'm not begrudging any charity their donation, but it seems like a donation was made and gift cards were handed over by the charity for the friend to send out.   There was no thought, of course, to what charity I would like to have made a contribution to in my name.

(At least this is better than when my name and address has been given to a charity for the charity to send me the card directly, in which case I've ended up on multiplying mailing lists for similar charities and permanently getting the organizations' newsletters.  I'm just not the type who can call a charity and say "take me off your list," and the transferring of the mailing list is just out of hand anyway, so it's become easier to just discard the mail.)
Title: Re:THE LATE, LATE SHOW

On a related charitable note :)  - It seems that when you give a donation to a non-profit theater over the phone, that theater very likely shares your phone number with lots of other non-profit theaters.  My phone number happens to be listed under Skip's name, and I've been getting lots of calls from theaters knowing my name to whom I've never contributed before.  No good deed, etc.

Oh my, I'm sounding like a Scrooge today regarding charities.  :) :)

IMHO - Totally inconsiderate.  A friend would discuss the option (I would have thought).

After discussion with my Sister and her daughter (re my daughter's children), and with DP's mother, I have now chosen to give "living gifts" ie  sponsorship of animals at the zoo.  The kids get some sense of "ownership" etc and My mother-in-law thinks it is delightful that she has a Red panda!  My niece's children have everything they need (and more) in terms of clothes, toy and books etc.

The kids can choose their own animal to sponsor in future years.
(It also means visits to the zoo will be on the agenda).

Here's Bonham Carter:

"I wanted her to be sexual  and sensual and not older than Sweeney. I think
Sondheim always saw her as  older than him and a sort of maternal figure. I
wanted her to have a side  that was a bit of a slut, frankly. I even thought,
maybe she makes her  living by being a prostitute, which was pretty common in Victorian times,  but Sondheim didn't like the idea at all." Still, the composer's most  useful character note to her was, she says, to think of
Stella Dallas from  "A Streetcar Named Desire."

SUMMER SOLSTICE IN OZ (http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,22962846-2,00.html?from=mostpop)

Quote
Storms wreaking havoc in east

Across much of Victoria today, gale-force winds replaced the humidity and flash flooding of yesterday.

Scores of trees were uprooted and hurled onto cars, across roads and into buildings, State Emergency Service state operations manager Tim Wiebusch said.

Localised flooding persisted in some southern Melbourne suburbs, with Dandenong Creek in the city's south bursting its banks, inundating a section of Heatherton Rd, forcing its closure.

Police urged campers along the Goulburn River in the state's saturated north central region to take precautions with the river level expected to rise 4-5m over the next 24 hours.

Another 10,000 megalitres of water has been released from the Goulburn Weir and police were concerned anyone camping too close to the river would be at risk.

SES volunteers have been at full stretch as the winds picked up today and temperatures dropped to as low as 12C in some areas.

"We have been getting a three to four calls a minute (for assistance), mostly in Melbourne with Ballarat and Bendigo the main rural centres affected," Mr Wiebusch said.

It's a good thing that woman in the car across from mine didn't have a video camera, or else a video of me trying to stuff twenty helium balloons into a Toyota would be on YouTube tonight. She was quite amused.

Easier if you transport them un-inflated and then gas them up at the party!

I have seen that one yet, DB, but I have heard awfully good things about it.  I will say that I can personally attest to the fact that there are a whole big bunch of very strongly closeted Mormons, so I'm all for those who are courageous enough to let the world know their true natures.

And Cendrillon is way over-priced, imho.  And the "Filipino" food there is more Asian-fusion than anything else.  I prefer Elvie's Turo-Turo in the East Village, or the plethora of family-run places in Queens.  Or I just cook it myself.  ;)

"He was really upset when I told him he couldn't go back to school. He just lay on the rug and cried. It was such a shame, but there was nothing I could do."

I might even do "The Collected Sayings of Ann Coulter " to cheer up Elmore!

My my my my my, I just got in from NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, and I'm still mulling ity over: excellent cast, really excellent cast and a lot of violence, more realistic than SWEENEY TODD in that respect, but I'm still deciding what I thought of the film, which is completely open-ended with no satisfying resolution.  It's quite well done, and I like a lot of the Coens' films, but I feel that I should read the novel now.

I still feel that the best film I saw this year was David Cronenberg's EASTERN PROMISES.
I liked STARDUST more than I liked HAIRSPRAY, and I really liked HAIRSPRAY.
I'm hot and cold on PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 3, visually astonishing, loud as can be, and often confusing and confounding.
I have high hopes for SWEENEY and CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR, both from directors whom I run hot and cold on (I still cannot warm up to BIG FISH in anyway shape or form).

Cd-wise this year
Barbara Cook - No One Is Alone
Joe Nichols - Real Things
The Eagles - Long Road Out of Eden
Queen Latifah - Travelin' Light
Rufus Wainwright - Does Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall
Michael Buble - Call Me Irresponsible
Eldar - Re-Imagination (wonder how I found this artist. . . )
Tim McGraw - Let It Go
Matchbox Twenty - Exile on Mainstream
Chris Cornell - Carry On
Bruce Springsteen - Magic
Aesop Rock - None Shall Pass
Darren Hayes - This Delicate Thing We've Made

Looking forward to the second set of swing sessions from David Campbell.

I've already got the Stephanie Lawrence recording of BLOOD BROTHERS. . .

Pre-Stonewall (actually, pre 1973) the issue of military service was always of concern to young men. For many, stints of service followed by G.I. Bill funded education was the key to a rosy future. Failure to navigate the system could be calamitous - a young man discharged from the military for homosexuality not only lost most G. I. Benefits, the character of his discharge prevented him from pursuing many a career: in California, for example, veterans with queer discharges were not permitted to be licensed as barbers, beauticians, or morticians. Imagine - gay hairdressers -  THE HORROR!

Exposure as a homosexual meant not only the probable loss of family and friends, it presented itself as a huge barrier to all sorts of social activities - like employment!

We won't go into the horror stories of honest gay young men who were institutionalized for a cure by well intentioned parents. (Wonder what your research could uncover in this area?)

So, your failure to know "gay" people before the 70's was not because you were sheltered, it's because most of us chose to be invisible.

DR singingnymph - did you know that for two marvelous years, I was "Brad Majors" (insert Uranus joke here) at the King's Court Theater in Pittsburgh, PA, a member (insert Uranus joke here) of the first official Pittsburgh company?
As a group, we appeared on local television as well as national television - CBS-TV's first incarnation of People magazine - and as a group attended conventions as far away as Hemstead, NY.

I've been asked to join a couple casts, but I prefer being in the audience.
The only part I've ever played was Betty.

Just a quick note regarding my virginal visit (insert Uranus joke here) to RHPS:  I saw RHPS for the first time following a double feature of Alfred Hitchcock's PSYCHO and THE BIRDS. . . .
One week later, I was wearing fishnets and a corset . . .IN PUBLIC!

Someone could establish the "Levain Enablers Foundation" which could in turn provide fellowship grants to elligle Filipino Keyboardists.

(Have Fred set it up, and Ben can help with management)

On a related charitable note :)  - It seems that when you give a donation to a non-profit theater over the phone, that theater very likely shares your phone number with lots of other non-profit theaters.  My phone number happens to be listed under Skip's name, and I've been getting lots of calls from theaters knowing my name to whom I've never contributed before.  No good deed, etc.

Oh my, I'm sounding like a Scrooge today regarding charities.  :) :)

Not Scrooge at all, IMO. I enjoy giving to charities, especially at Christmas. However, I have been totally turned off by many of them, especially those that (1) send you a bill, stating that you haven't yet paid your membership, when, of course, all you intended was a one-time gift, or (2) those that send out requests that are designed to look like overdue bills. I've taken quite a few charities off my list due to what I consider reprehensible behavior.  I still give, but much more selectively.

A lovely idea.

Make out the check to Jammers Of Spanish Extraction, but since that's too long a name to write on the check, you should feel free to use the initials instead.

Likewise, the Filipino Recording Education Drive could use your help, and feel free to use the initials there as well in making out your contribution check.

There's also the umbrella group Charities Assisting Southern Harlem.  Initials work there as well.

(above is almost a Beverly Hillbillies reference, and not really a solicitation for donations :) )

A local theater group will be doing The Rocky Horror Picture Show, later this season.  It'll be the second time this group has done it, and the third time that someone in Olympia has done the original stage show. :)

I signed up at www.bluebeat.com and created my own radio show list.  I don't quite understand exactly what it's all about, but right now, I'm listening to "The Country's In the Very Best of Hands" from one of BK's favorites, the original Broadway cast recording Li'l Abner.

First part of today's Topic of the Day:

The Brain From Planet X (world premiere cast recording...and previously mentioned)
Une Chambre en Ville (original soundtrack)
Company (NBC)
Curtains (OBC)
"Obligatory Villagers" by Nellie McKay
Wicked (German cast recording)

The rest of my new CDs are at work, but I need to stop there before I head over to my sister's house, so I'll be able to see what I have that's new.

Continuing my Top 10 list (there are more than 10 ;)):

110 in the Shade - new Broadway cast
1967 - Betty Buckley
Blackbeard - the original concept musical (I really like this)
Grey Gardens - original Broadway cast
Simply Sondheim
Taking a Chance on Love - Milla Ilieva

:)

After going to my sister's house, I'm working concessions tonight for David Lanz with Tingstad & Rumbel: Home for the Holidays (http://www.washingtoncenter.org/calendar/calendar_detail.asp?event_id=960).  It'll be an evening of music that's new to me.  I've heard of them, but I've never actually heard any of their music.

David Lanz played the first act.  He plays very "new age-y" (meaning repetitive, to me) music.  I'm sure it was very good, but listening to it from the lobby (I never did go into the theater while he was playing) bored me completely.  Sorry, if any of you are fans, but it wasn't what I wanted to listen to for an hour and 20 minutes.

After the intermission was over and concessions was all cleaned up, I watched a bit of Tingstad & Rumbel.  They weren't as "new age-y," but as good as they were, they weren't very exciting, either...at least, what I saw of them.  All the performers were very good musicians, and have been around for a long time, but their music was not what I was interested in. :-\

Some DR suggested posting pictures of Christmas decorations here on the 24th.  Even though I have to work that day [ ;D ], in preparation I have taken some pictures of the local neighborhood tacky outdoor light displays to share.

Just something for y'all to look forward to!    :P
