I'm up, I'm up.  I got up at eight, but went back to bed immediately.  It is indeed quite pretty out.

I saw quite a few people on this board - they are now not here nor does there seem to be any postings from them.

I think my problem with the computer seems to be when I shut if off, it also shuts the DSL box off.
So I'm turning the surge protector off for a couple of minutes and then back on, everything works fine.

Dear Jane, Poison oak or anything that itches is awful, I hope it goes away soon.

Dear ArnoldM, Yes, I hope she does not infect the mouse.

This weekend begins the SALEM FILM FESTIVAL. I think this is the 4th year and it has turned into quite a big deal. It was previously only 3 days long, and has now expanded to 10 days.....and this year they have all the Oscar nominated animated and live action short subjects!!

Here is the line-up of movies and shorts http://www.salemfilmfestival.com/2009/films.html

As you will see many of the film makers and actors will be in attendance. Today I plan to see the Oscar winning short SMILE PINKI as well as Larry Blamire's old dark house spoof DARK AND STORMY NIGHT. My buddy Jim will be going to the latter if he makes it back from Seattle in time.

I'm back from a very enjoyable graduate recital. Jesse opened with a Beethoven piece, An die ferne Geliebte, opus 98, and closed the first half with Poulenc's cycle Chansons Gaillardes. The second half began with Gerald Finzi's Shakespeare Songs, Let Us Garlands Bring and closed with three musical theatre pieces with guest duet-ers, Wildhorn's "A Dangerous Game," Simon's "Lily's Eyes" which is moving but not nearly so well written as Bizet's Au fond du temple sant, although "Lily's Eyes" is becoming as ubiquitous as the Bizet. The closer was "Luck Be A Lady" with a seven-piece men's chorus and a nice 4-[oece combo of piano, bass, drums, and guitar, the same group that played for the Wildhorn and the Simon pieces.

The accompanist for the Poulenc, Finzi and Beethoven was Kenneth Merrill, who was quite wonderful. The pops accompanist was Cyrus von Hochstetter, who needs to learn how to do an unarpeggiated button. "Lily's Eyes" had a very sloppy close. Jesse sounded really great, and I think it was an overall success.

Turning the computer off shouldn't turn off the DSL box - at least I don't think so - I have a cable modem, though.

Laundry is now done. DF&H#2 had some things to wash, too, so I did his as well. It's the least I can do, given the many kindnesses he's done me.

I'm not at all sure why, but the concept of an infected mouse strikes me as strangely humorous.

Would a mouse not be susceptible to a computer virus?

This afternoon we are going to a movie theatre to see The Audition.

I think DR George has already mentioned this documentary.

Which I totally forgot about. :P

Just listened to 1 Terry Trotter cd, about to put on another.

Trying to load up the car with more stuff to donate to Out of the Closet.

Every time I open the storage doors in the bedroom (it's wall to wall maybe 12 feet long) I shut it fast, crammed with boxes yet unpacked.

I have no sense of humor.  So I just keep my mouth shut.  Or in this case my fingers off the keyboard.

I bought KISS ME STUPID sight unseen several years ago when it first came out on DVD. I never saw it when it came out in the 1960s. The cast looked good, and it was Billy Wilder! How bad could it be?  Unfortunately, I hated just about all of it. Didn't find it the least funny, and it seemed labored throughout. Just not for me

Wasn't this rated C by the Catholic Church?

Yes, it was condemned by the Catholic CHurch as I recall. Of course, lots of good movies were condemned by them. This one just didn't happen to appeal to me.

DR Arnold,

I didn't forget to mention the movie's name; I deliberately omitted the title becasue it's a film that is not in circulation at the present time and never has been.

I began my afternoon of viewing with Thursday night's HARPER'S ISLAND. It was my second episode, and it will be my last. I really can't stand any of the young people in the cast (many are very poor actors and others just have annoying characters). The "boo" moments are cheesy and irritating, and the two murders that took place in this week's show were repulsive.

This is 40 minutes of my life I can find a better way to spend.
