Good morning!

Looks like another beautiful day here. Supposed to get to 70. Very typically spring and most welcome.

I hope Keith has a happy birthday. Even though he doesn't post here, he and DR Jane watch and comment on many of the shows and films I see, so I kind of feel like he's a part of the site even without his actual presence on-line.

TOD:

I ADORE Kander and Ebb. CABARET and THE HAPPY TIME, CHICAGO, THE RINK, and KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN are superb musicals filled with brilliant numbers.

My favorite songs:

"Sing Happy"

"Why Should I Wake Up?"

"A Quiet Thing"

"Seeing Things"

"Yes"

"Maybe This Time"

"My Own Best Friend"

"Sometimes a Day Goes By"

"Colored Lights"

"We Can Make It"

"You Could Never Shame Me"

"Everybody Dance"

DR Matt H, I could never give up on the idiocies of the soap operas - were the plots always this moronic and simple? - because they are one of the few things I do watch that allow me to have some sense of superiority, not to mention outrage that those idiot writers are making good money for this lunacy and I could pee a better script.

Tuesday morning greetings!  Slept in today and that always makes me a little groggy.

Happiest of birthdays to Keith, DH of DR Jane!

I see your point. It's not hard to feel superior to these really lamebrained plots and dreadful dialog.

DR Michael Shayne,

I think Angela Lansbury's Emmy nomination for LAW & ORDER: SVU was her 19th nomination; however, unlike Susan Lucci who won on her 19th bid, Lansbury did not win (Amanda Plummer did on a different LAW & ORDER: SVU).

I read the Outer Critics Circle nominations yesterday. Does no one have any comments to make on what was nominated and who was (possibly) snubbed? I haven't seen the shows, so it's hard to know what was chosen and what was omitted.

Having put it off as long as possible, today I will delve back into IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES, this time on Blu-ray. Shouldn't take up the entire afternoon, and since I've already watched all the bonus features which are ported over onto the Blu-ray, it should actually be a relatively easy work day for me.

I find, given their huge(?) roster of actors that the budget cuts can't accommodate too many extras or day players these days, the characters have nearly no friends except the immediate casts and the writers are too dumb to even use the relationships they set up six months ago: why isn't Casey involved in this idiotic perverted twins plot? He and his love life are my favorite storyline these days, although I love the wino and her idiot police detective ex-husband who would lose at a game of Clue!

And here's the Big news: The Rodgers & Hammerstein has been sold!

Does that mean that Imagem will now be licensing The Brain from Planet X??

I was up bright and early this morning to go to Target, and I could have gotten there even earlier since I thought they opened at 9 and they actually open at 8. I make one of these Target runs about every three months to stock up on essentials, and it's nice being there early because the store is basically empty. I got a front row parking space, did my shopping, and went to the checkout where there was no one waiting. Wow!

I suspect that the difference in owners will mean that the licensing will still come from "Rodgers & Hammerstein Theatre Library" and the payments to do the show will be deposited in Imagem's bank account rather than one for the Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization. The question will be what bank account sends Bruce and David their royalties.

That's how I used to do my Christmas shopping at Macy's; I could get there when they opened and bew out with everything in 45 minutes.

You must have been holding your entire package for a considerable sum.

DR JRand - I waved at you when we crossed Mooresville Rd. yesterday!  The Indianapolis airport has grown quite a bit since my grandmother lived near there in the '50s and '60s.

BK, are you officially revealing the OCR today, which I'm assuming is the one you unofficially revealed on the radio show?

TOD,
I really like "I Miss the Music" from CURTAINS, but that was written by John Kander after Fred Ebb died so not sure that counts.
I alos like "Tough Act to Follow" "Coffee Shop Nights" andn "The Woman's Dead" I know at least one or two of those are both Kander and Ebb, not sure if all of them are. (not sure when they were written - I know they are all John Kander)

Maybe Larry, who knows all, can help:  did you see L&O:CI this week?  If so, who was the Angie Dickinson lookalike who played Scott Cohen's wife?
