Well, you've read the notes, the notes were suprisingly even-keeled given the number of blown gaskets that were in evidence, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently blowing some gaskets, just for the hell of it.

Is it double doody week?

I wonder if Tomovoz has a picture of a "dirdy birdie"!
Any "dirdy birdies" in Oz, Tom?
-
I, too, wonder about François. It's not like him to "not post" on a Thursday e'en.
-
It's not like him to "not post" on a Thursday e'en.
Or even on a Thursday odd.

I loved all the TV I watched tonight.
That includes "Ugly Betty" and "Grey's Anatomy." I thoroughly concur with DR MattH's assessment that this was the best episode in a LONG time. It was full of pith and promise and potential. I especially loved George's wife, getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop from a thoroughly misguided chief of surgery, begging George NOT to say what she knows he's going to say. And then George agrees not to say it. And probably no one in America/Canada or anywhere else, for that matter, watching this episode wanted him to say it.
That said, I'm still so thoroughly OVER Meredith Grey and her self-serving pity parties. She makes it seem so plausible that she has no "link" to Lexi because her father deserted her. But it was NEVER about her....it was her ball-busting mother, her weak father and life, in general, that deprived her of her father. It was not Lexi...it was never Lexi....and Meredith is going to have to get over her bitchy selfishness and consider the fact that she has a blood relative who wanted to connect with her. I despise the character.
I was very disappointed in McDreamy breaking down and keeping his appointment with Meredith.
I LOVED Christina's "wedding present trade-offs-for-favors" tactic.
i DO wish she would have told Burke's mother EXACTLY what her son could do with himself.
-
Didn't we just have "moliminous" as word of the day?
Is it double doody week?
Considering one of the definitions of moliminous, I'd say double doody is most appropriate! ;)

Or even on a Thursday odd.
Speaking of "odd", on Thursdays, Fridays, or whenever....

Given Isaiah's on-set comments last season, my mind toggles at the idea of sending him into various pits of hell.

Let's be ultra-careful, dingbrawl, or I may find myself in the 14100's before I allow my head to rest upon my pillow.

Oh, all right, David. You dont' want to play.

I always wondered just who it was who would listen to such albums.

So, DR RLP -
Have you watched any Judy/Mickey yet? :)

I'm not passing "judgment", per se....just commenting on the curious and the curiouser.

I always wondered just who it was who would listen to such albums.
And now you have your answer, in spades. 8)
They make me happy!
You've probably seen such folk on your morning commute. You know, that guy or gal driving past you with the demented look?
-
So, DR RLP -
Have you watched any Judy/Mickey yet? :)
Gosh, no. I have been so busy trying to catch up on what's already stored in my DVR cache...and in the recording of some of the movies therein...that Mickey-Judy haven't a prayer of being attended till the weekend.
-
And now you have your answer, in spades. 8)
They make me happy!
You've probably seen such folk on your morning commute. You know, that guy or gal driving past you with the demented look?
I do, indeed, know those of whom you speak.
I do not know, now, whether I shall find them less scary...or moreso....
-
Of course, living near that den of iniquity, San Francisco, that's probably most of the population...
-
But I shall be more on "guard"....
And much wiser, to boot!
-
Of course, living near that den of iniquity, San Fransisco, that's probably most of the population...
No doubt a few fall into the Davis,Jr./Darin category. I suspect, however, they're more the Berkeley folks.
The San Francisco ones, thankfully, don't make it over to Oakland too often.
-
And much wiser, to boot!
But, hopefully, not sadder.
Ah, Robert Preston!
-
When the swallows return to Capistrano...
-
Given what I read here, San Francisco has no claims to iniquity.
The Bay Area seems quite tame considering the goings-on I've been reading about from our NooYawkers.
-
I'm sorry DR Tomovoz left before I had a chance to ask him how his visit with his father went.
-
I'm beginning to get a complex, since he's ignored ever brick I've thrown his way.
I'm starting to think he's ignoring me.
-
San Francisco has no claims to iniquity.
Perhaps, but antiquity, maybe? Or persnickety?
-
Well, clapclaw, now you've done it. You have gone and abetted me into the 14100s....and now I must hie my hiny to bed.
Tha'ts correct. You read it as it was writ...
Make of THAT what you will.

The U.S. Air Force won the Ig Nobel Peace Prize this year for its proposal to develop a "gay bomb" -- a chemical weapon that would make enemy soldiers want to make love with each other, not war with the enemy.

Good morning, all! I have little to report. At 9 am I shall hit Tekserve and procure for myself a new iMac. After that, a stop at Toyland and then a trek to the NYPL. Hopefully, the computer will be delivered in the late afternoon, and I can putter about the apartment till it arrives.
I have no writing work at the moment so I may begin work on the piec I want to write in my dad's memory.
I don't know if it was the LAW & ORDER: CI episode with the actor I once knew but I had very strange dreams: a rehearsal of CANDIDE and a strange situation involving an orchestration of a Leonard Bernsten piece, back to work at The Drama Book Shop and dealing with a huge pile of shipping problems andf orders that had piled up since I'd been away.

Last night finished re-watching Season 3 of OZ,will rent Season 4 for the weekend; Car CD, en route to work, the Previn STREETCAR. It will take some getting used to-Blanche starts off so High(note-wise) and forceful, I wonder where she'll go when she actually does go crazy; Also it's live, so the occasional bursts of applause make suspension of disbelief more difficult. One of the things I liked about Blitzstein's REGINA, with the '58 NYCity Opera Cast, is that you can understand every phrase-maybe 'cause it's closer to the musical theater I'm more familiar with.

vixmom, just to reiterate, even the cast has been unable to get extra tix for this weekend, and those two perfs have been sold out for a long time - we can get him in to either of this aftrenoon's performances, though, if he can rearrange his schedule. But of course, like any theater enterprise, there's an allotment that is held back for emergencies which may be released by NYMF from time to time if you keep checking online. We have no advance knowledge of when these will be released, though.

Another thing I did last night before prime time started that I failed to mention is try out my laserdisc player on the new TV. I had plugged it in from the beginning but in being so busy watching DVDs and calibrating the inputs that I use most frequently (cable box, over the air digital tuner, DVD player, and Blu-ray player), I hadn't done anything to the S-video calibration for the laserdisc. I put in A VERY BRADY SEQUEL, one of the more recent and colorful laserdiscs, so I could guage flesh tones and sharpness. I'll have to try out a few Technicolor laserdiscs next to see how I did with a quick, crude calibration.

And the word of the day is: MOLIMINOUS!
I've always found Mr. Toad's Wild Ride at Disneyland to be light and carefree fun, and hardly MOLIMINOUS at all. But I've always wished that Mole and Rat could have their own ride, as well, since I like those two a lot.
I also think it says something of our cultural biases, that we don't have the word RATIMINOUS in our language. A shame, really.

TOD: Since we hardly ever watch TV, the only thing we've managed to sit down and watch is a movie my DH plucked off the shelf last night and said "I see something I want to watch".
It was THE LAST STARFIGHTER. It was fun to see it again after seeing Fred & Skip's show, and we both agreed that we liked the changes they made (Centauri as co-pilot, etc.).

I have to say that I am really disappointed by the way this guy shoots interviews. He frames a wide shot and then never changes the angle again. Jeez---I could do that!
The thing is, maybe they decided to stay wider on her since she's rather old and they thought it would be more flattering, but they could have at least gone a little tighter, above the elbows, so you don't see the effect of gravity, if you know what I mean...

I am also really liking it this year. Some of the things are just so funny. And i'm loving it. For example Mark teasing justin and then being nice to him. Or the whole bit with the dog.
I am very happy that betty's dad is now home. Very interesting way to make that happen. I have not read all the posts yet. But who was the guy playing vanessa william's bodyguard. He reminded me so much of the basketball player who i thought was her ex-husband!

Okay I'm going to answer my own post. I just read on televisionwithoutpity that the actor playing the bodyguard on UGLY BETTY was indeed her ex-husband. Okay that is so weird to me!

The powers-that-be aren't interested in letting an author or a fan have any video or audio memento of our shows. We get to see them six or seven times and that's all, folks. {insert silent scream here}

RE: last night's UGLY BETTY

I am also really liking it this year. Some of the things are just so funny. And i'm loving it. For example Mark teasing justin and then being nice to him. Or the whole bit with the dog.
I am very happy that betty's dad is now home. Very interesting way to make that happen. I have not read all the posts yet. But who was the guy playing vanessa william's bodyguard. He reminded me so much of the basketball player who i thought was her ex-husband!
SPOILER
DR Jennifer...her dad is NOT yet home. And his fate, given what happened while he was packing, is up in the air...with a gun in his ribs.

I'm sure no one in the audience would ever dream of making a recording of the performance using a small digital recorder.

Speaking of....where in the world is Ms. Snarkie today?
-
Noel, what is the name of your brother-in-law who did the documentary on Pearl?
-
Heigh-ho, Penny-O!
How goes things?
Hi, Ron! things be fine!!! I just heard yesterday that i am in the top three, out of dozens of applications, for the Northwest Folklife Executive Director job!!! My interview is November 2. This feels so good!!!
-
Or "Pear" in the HHW vernacular...
-
And Jane! congratulations, and fingers x'd for Bryan's continuing success.
-
Fingers crossed for PennyO to get the dream job!
-
Edisaurus, we did sell the Brain CD - it was in the lounge on the floor below the theater - of course, it would have been nice if there'd been a sign in the lobby OF the theater, but, you know, it's NYMF. We sold four copies, but I've been getting orders from people who saw the show, includind one from a Japanese fellow who saw the show (and about seven other NYMF shows) - the Brain was his favorite and he wrote the sweetest note - doesn't speak English well, so maybe that's why we were his favorite.
-
I went to the birthday party of a friend last night - on her 74-foot yacht in the Marina -- hoo, boy!!! We got to cruise around the marina, and eat yummy foodstuffs, and imbibe various liquid refreshments. Another friend of hers made a gorgeous cake - wish I had a photo to show y'all - whipped cream, strawberries, ladyfingers - all tied with pink and red ribbons, and surrounded by roses. Impossible to describe - how beautiful!!!! And scrumptious!!!
-
Fingers crossed for PennyO to get the dream job!
Thanks, sweet Ed!!
-
Hey, Bruce - howz the cough today??? (Guaiafenisin syrup!)

:( I have never been able to find a recording of this opera on CD.
CORRECTION: That does not cost several hundred dollars on ebay.
When you're next in town, hit Academy on West 18th Street and see if they have a used copy of the Mauceri-Scottish Opera recording. I can't believe it's out of print but it is.

Thanks Penny, and BIG VIBES YOU BECOME THE TOP CHOICE FOR THE JOB!! [/b]

So... Am I Ms. Snarkie?
-
So, has anyone else been able to find any new news on the talks between the League and Local 1 (IATSE)? Has the lockout been averted?
-
LA fave Kevin Earley has been added to our fundraiser, as has Kirsten Benton Chandler and Beth Malone. We're getting there. Waiting for a few other confirmations.
-
I have a new iMac! I'm waiting for it to be delivered. Looks like all hell is breaking loose on AS THE WORLD TURNS today. I do not understand soap opera time: a day can last two weeks on a soap and yet every holiday falls on its appropriate date. A dnner party on AS THE WORLD TURNS with the bigot/psycho dad took days and now suddenly it's the next day. Oy!
-
Has the lockout been averted?
They resume talks this afternoon at 2:00 PM...
-
DR Noel - Does the NYMF contract prohibit recording new demos of songs with cast members from the NYMF presentation? Especially if new material was written for the NYMF stint.
-I've never seen the contract, so... ???

Congrats on your new purchase! Did you get one of the new-new ones? I think they're silver now.
As for soap opera time, my "favorite" is how kids go from birth to five years old... then to the 'tweens... although, sometimes they just skip their adolescence, and go right to being freshman in college... especially if they were sent off to boarding school (for a year)... And the boys always seem to come back from boarding school as hunky young men.
-
They resume talks this afternoon at 2:00 PM...
Ah, more talks. The last I had heard, people were being told to bring anything important with them home from the theatre last night just in case they were locked out this morning.
Thanks for the update, DR singdaw.
-
...Just turned on "As the World Turns"... I had forgotten that they went "digital" - or at least the show looks "digital" now. And talk about time compression! ;)

So... Am I Ms. Snarkie?
ROTFLMAO!
Ms. Snarkie is the anagram of Miss Karen.
You would be....oh, I dunno.... Soapi Jones
-
bk - As per your cough... Acid reflux? I know I've brought this up before with you, but with all the stress, physical (all the travel) and mental/psychological (the fundraiser, NYMF, etc.), you could have a case of acid reflux. -Especially if you're having a dry, irritating cough.

My Mac Mechanic and I have a date for Monday at 2 pm! At that time he will hopefully set up the new computer and the printer.
It has a 20 inch screen and the following:

There is only one bonus feature on disc 6 in the CSI: NY set: Hill Harper on the Body Farm. I am thinking one of these last three episodes does take place at a body farm.
The original CSI did a body farm episode many years ago.

And, as I mentioned earlier, I did skim through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. What surprised me more was the previews for next week's episodes which gives away quite a bit and dissipates the tension surrounding what's happening now a lot.

And has anyone else been following the reasons behind the delay of the premiere of the movie version of "The Kite Runner"? Truly intriguing.
I found THIS (http://www.comcast.net/entertainment/index.jsp?fn=2007/10/04/233438.html) article and one reason for the delay:
"I'm worried people from my tribe will turn against me, even cut my throat and kill me," Ahmad Jaan Mahmoodzada, the father of the movie's star, told the BBC. (The Mahmoodzadas say Ahmad Khan didn't know about the rape scene until the day of shooting.)
Such violence would not be unprecedented. Demonstrations broke out after the film Kabul Express became available on DVD. The Indian movie apparently has a character hurl epithets at a Hazara. The government condemned the offense, but death threats led the actor whose character made the insulting comments to flee the country.
Paramount Vantage ruled out cutting the certain-to-be controversial rape scene, but the studio did decide to postpone The Kite Runner's release, which was originally scheduled for Nov. 2, to give the company time to get the child stars and their families out of Afghanistan.

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) -- Customs officers discovered nearly 10.5 ounces of ecstasy tablets hidden inside a Mr. Potato Head toy sent to Australia from Ireland, the agency said Thursday.
I'm sorry Tomovoz, I tried.

It's a pocket Canon camera that has a nice macro lens already on it. It's not one of those foot-long cameras. I just try to get up close.
-
And when you're tired of being tackled, DR MBarnum, you can take the team to the movies:

George-you condensed the story nicely. That is very scary. It would be very difficult to cut the scene from the movie, it is too important to the story.
-
I'm sorry Tomovoz, I tried.

It's the first time I've noticed one. There are about a half dozen fluttering around. And they are TINY.
This spring I had tiny little orange-ish butterflies fluttering around me while I walked around the lake. I wonder if they are related.
-

That was me, blond hair, nose in a book but always willing to go out and play with the boys. ;)
-
I wonder if they are related.
They may be the sisters and the cousins and the aunts.

but always willing to go out and play with the boys.
Still are! ;)
[and we're glad for it!]

;D You are so sweet.

Now Margaret is talking about Johnny Mercer starting Capitol records. Margaret was not the first singer he signed to the label, and she was kind of hurt, but Johnny told her "You're not the first singer I will sign, but you will be the BEST singer I sign."
Sweet!
I want to hear about her marriage to Johnny Wadd or Jack Wrangler or whomever.
-
Der Brucer, about your question yesterday - I am still a criminal defense lawyer and I always will be. This photo will most likely be on the criminal defense page. I am very proud to be a criminal defense lawyer and espsecially a life member of the NACDL. So yes, I do want to emphasize it

Back from rehearsal, and now have a ninety minute meeting.
Maybe the cough IS acid reflux - who knows.
-
Rodzinski and TPunk did indeed attend the Brain - on the evening we had no sound reinforcement, which was also our best show.
-
Hi, Ron! things be fine!!! I just heard yesterday that i am in the top three, out of dozens of applications, for the Northwest Folklife Executive Director job!!! My interview is November 2. This feels so good!!!
PennyO, that would be a terrific job for you. I will say a few dozen prayers for you.
-
bk, I'm curious why you decided not to sell BRAIN CD's at the show. "Some souveniers"...
And no cookies, either!
Jose could have opened up a Levain franchise in the lobby!
I thought they were for sale at the bar
-
Vixmom and Bruce-Feel better soon!
Cilla, how is Callie today?
Callie is doing much much better. Let's just say she really relieved herself last night and that did wonders. The girls are chasing a bug around the house right now. They will be amused until they catch it
-
Keith just informed me there is snow on top of the Siskiyou Mountains above us. I hope it stays up there and away from us. I am not ready for winter, I want the warmer days to return.
It was 87 degrees here today and will be 90 tomorrow. This is crazy
-
And has anyone else been following the reasons behind the delay of the premiere of the movie version of "The Kite Runner"? Truly intriguing.
Have they gotten the boys' families to safety yet?

This morning I looked in my butterfly garden, and I saw the smallest butterfly in North America:

It is a western pygmy blue, with a wingspan of .5 inch.
Breathtaking photo, Laura.

Job vibes for DRPENNYO...
Thanks to DR LAURA for the photos....and DR derBRUCER for the underwater photo & story.
Thanks to DR SINGDAW for the link the story about the WSS photo....

Ball of fire still a mystery
Officials say reported flaming object most likely a meteor
By Dolly A. Butz
Journal staff writer
Officials may never know if the flaming object shooting through the sky Wednesday afternoon was in fact a meteor.
"We can't confirm at all what it is," said Todd Heitkamp, warning and coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls. "There's suspicion that it was a meteorite, but we have no confirmation whatsoever."
Heitkamp said no one was monitoring meteorite activity over Sioux City at the time the ball of fire was spotted.
Around 2 p.m. Wednesday the Woodbury County Communications Center received reports of something falling from the sky. Communications center director Glenn Sedivy said callers talked about a "fire ball," but they were not able to give a good description of its location. The calls were forwarded to emergency responders.
Sioux City Police Lt. Marti Reilly said he heard sightings of something coming out of the sky east of Merrill. Officers weren't dispatched because police could not confirm the flaming object landed in Sioux City, he said.
Authorities at the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office said a caller south of Hinton told dispatchers they thought they saw something fall from the sky by Hinton. A motorist traveling on Highway 75 also reported seeing a flaming object in the sky a mile west and a mile north of Merrill.
Gary Junge, emergency management coordinator for Plymouth County, said he heard of reports of meteor sightings from Sergeant Bluff to Sioux County.
Heitkamp said meteor sightings are not uncommon.
"We have meteorites that hit the atmosphere all the time," he said. "This one here, if it was a meteorite, just happened to be large enough to reach further into the atmosphere than what most of them do before burning up."
Meteoroids are tiny particles about the size of a grain of sand. They are usually residue from comets. If a meteoroid encounters the Earth's upper atmosphere, it vaporizes in an event called a meteor. If the object survives and hits the ground, it is referred to as a meteorite.

Hey Sam! Sorry I wasn't here when you stopped by, how are your eyes today?

That was no meteorite, Cillaliz. The time is nigh.

Sigh. No mention of Donny Osmond. I guess he's busy.
-
He's on Fox News right now
-
Count td and me in those listeners!
I think if it is Darin you may well find WFO listening as well.
Indeed! Not just because it's Darin, but it is a mighty fine album! Darin actually would have made a very good Dr. D. Discuss amongst yourselves. . .

Rodzinski and TPunk did indeed attend the Brain - on the evening we had no sound reinforcement, which was also our best show.

Who's on Donny Osmond right now??
;)

I was reading some blog on Amazon.com (I don't remember how I even got there) but someone posted about the differences between the 1963 and 1991 editions of "The Best Word Book Ever" by Richard Scarry. The poster created a Flickr page with annotations! Click HERE (http://www.flickr.com/photos/kokogiak/sets/1425737/) to go through it. It's very interesting!

I found it...click HERE (http://www.amazon.com/gp/blog/post/PLNK3UWMD9KY6WO5X) for the Amazon.com blog. :)

I am happy to report the girsl are fighting. and Callie is right in the thick of it. haven't seen that for quite awhile. she must be feeling better.
-
Time for me to get ready to go see a friend play in a combo during a late night happy hour....laters
-
Cilla, how nice the girls fighting makes you happy. ;D :D
-
Yes, although it actually ran from 1955 to 1960...many of my interviewees have appeared on it...as has Ms. Allison Hayes in the DR. ALAN MARCH episode.
I believe I visited the set once. I do clearly recall that Mr Millionaire gave out what looked like checks, but said "One million dollars worth of good luck" with his autograph on them. I had one, but you know, all those anti-clutter folks tell you to toss what you don't need, and unfortunately it was tossed long ago.
You see, YOU SHOULD NEVER THROW OUT ANYTHING THAT CAN BE SOLD ON EBAY!

Oh yes, the poster project, with all of the deadlines? I still have the disk sitting here, waiting for them to pick it up.

Count td and me in those listeners!
I think if it is Darin you may well find WFO listening as well.
Me, too. I adore Sammy Davis, Jr, always have done. I listened to Bobby Darin some time back after not having heard him in many years and was pleasantly surprised that he held up so well. That is NOT true for all singers I've heard.
-
And what a breathtaking shot that is! Wow!
Thanks for sharing this!
Yes, Laura, I really think this is one of your very best.

Be still my heart! ;D

What made me think of this was the documentary movie the poster is promoting is called POSADA; and I just happen to be watching the Yankees playoff game. And their catcher's name is...........
Oh never mind. It is Jorge Posada.

DR George - you are a man of impeccable taste.
I think his mind was on Donny.

This afternoon I saw this moth on the wall:
The moths that occasionally visit my walls are never as interesting as this.
But, then, I don't look up close. Have I been missing something?

Actually...I was thinking about both. ;)

I do hope that BK's meeting goes well and there's a bit of good news.

Didn't BK say something earlier this week about announcing a new Kritzerland release??
-
Good Evening!
Well, I was able to make it to the 5:00 performance of The Last Starfighter earlier this afternoon, and it seemed like a bunch of other people were able to make to the 5:00 show too. :)
I always love it when I can actually see a show that I've worked on (I played a few rehearsals for TLS) from the audience as an audience member, and today was no exception. Congrats to everyone involved. *And I even got congratulate Toby and Dylan since they were outside with Skip when I left the theatre.
-
Quote from Bruce in October 3rds notes:
"Meanwhile, I’m going to prepare the next Kritzerland release, which I’ll start taking preorders for in about two weeks."
-
A great show AND Toby and Dylan! :D
-
After TLS I headed on over to Pietrasanta with my friend, Mark, who had also seen the show tonight. It was my first time back at Pietrasanta since the new owners had taken over. The menu was the same - although newly typeset and printed. The room had a fresh coat of paint - along with a few piece of blue painter's tape in some of the corners. ;) And there was new fabric on the banquettes. The food was good, but I could definitely tell things were different - and not necessarily for the better. It just seemed a bit too busy, and louder(!) than it used to be. -And I miss the tablecloths too. And they also have the hostess outside on the sidewalk handing out menus and asking/begging people to come in.
*However, it also turned that a bunch of the NAMT (National Alliance for Musical Theatre) participants were dining there tonight too - they had come from their opening weekend reception. The gang from Seaside Music Theatre was there, along with Mr. Stephen Schwartz.
-
A great show AND Toby and Dylan! :D
:) Indeed!
-
DR Jane - I've been the trailer for "The Kite Runner" over the past couple of weeks when I've gone to the movies. However, the last time I saw the trailer, I did notice that the release date was no longer being announced at the end of the trailer. Alas, now I know why.
-
Quote from Bruce in October 3rds notes:

Thanks! I knew I read it somewhere. ;D

DR MBarnum - Maybe you should Priceline.com a flight to NYC this weekend to catch this:
South Asian International Film Festival (http://www.saiff.org/2007/index.php)

Hmm.... And the Flavor of the Month at Grom Gelato is: Marrons Glaces - Chestnut Gelato with Bits of Candied Chestnuts. Delicioso!
-
I'll begin the discussion....If this man were on the opposing team, how would be the best way to go about tackling him?
Umm... I think the question is how would I get him to tackle me!
-
Hmmm...
And still no word on the possible Broadway Lockout. However, I just got another e-mail from Local-802/AFM regarding not leaving any instruments or personal items after Sunday's shows (since the lockout would take effect on Monday morning). :-\
-
'night
-
It's time for me to leave. Tonight is ArtsWalk in downtown Olympia, a semi-annual arts festival. I'm going to usher at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts. I'm sure it'll mainly be just crowd-control. I don't know what events are happening at the Center, but as far as I know, it's all free. Free is good! Have a good evening, all!
-
I may start advance preorders for our new title on Monday, since I think I can have it in hand in a month. I just don't know if I can get it on the Kritzerland site that fast, so I may do the advance advance right here as a special thing.
-
I'm guessing that the new CD is "DearReaderLaura's Father-in-Law Sings to Friends."
DRs MusicGuy and Kerry will be laughing hysterically when they read that.
-
And for any others who like "pretty" CD covers, I highly recommend David Burnham's debut disc:
-
I did manage to finish the three remaining CSI: NY episodes on disc 6, and I had forgotten how thrilling and superb the season finale was. Very exciting stuff.
-
I also watched the last of the featurettes on the disc: over twenty minutes of Hill Harper being shown around a Body Farm at the University of Tennessee. Interesting.
-
Since I finished before 8 p.m., I was able to watch WHOST WHISPERER "live." Enjoyable enough, but I guessed pretty quickly what was really going on.
Kevin Kilner? Was he the girl's father? If it was, I thought he was wonderful (and a hunk).
-
I couldn't resist, so even with a DVR just stuffed full of TV programs, I HAD to watch BABES ON BROADWAY from the Mickey-Judy set. Knowing what I'm going to have coming in over the next few days to be viewed and written about, I thought this might be my last opportunity to watch one of the films in the set.
It looks just fine. Not perfect, mind you, but good. There were some speckles, and I didn't think sharpness was consistent throughout or that black levels were very strong until we got to the minstrel finale sequence.
And they've dialed the sound down quite a bit. I had to up the volume on the receiver to compensate. Be careful if you listen to Burton Lane singing "Chin Up, Cheerio, Carry On!" on the bonus features because it's loud and having the receiver turned up almost burst my eardrums. (He sings quite well, BTW.)
-
Tomorrow I'll watch some of the TV shows I've accumulated over the last few days, and then tomorrow night, I'll probably start on MEDIUM - Season 3.
-
Noel, what is the name of your brother-in-law who did the documentary on Pearl?
Brent Pierson
-
It is very hot here tonight.....whew!
Hopefully it will cool down, weatherwise, tomorrow.
-
Doesn't David Burnham look a bit like Donny Osmond?
-
I'm going to a cousin's engagment party tomorrow in the Baltimore area, so I'll be E&T almost all day.
-
I have some writing to finish up and then I'll be heading downstairs to bed.
Good night!
-
I'm going to a cousin's engagment party tomorrow in the Baltimore area, so I'll be E&T almost all day.
Taking the train down? Do you need any restaurant recommendations? ;)

Watching a movie I TIVOd. Meeting took two hours - way too long, but necessary.

I wish I was there DR Jose, they are showing some very good movies it sounds like!
-
Umm... I think the question is how would I get him to tackle me!
Oh, that's right you are more of a tacklee then a tackler.
-
Oh, that's right you are more of a tacklee then a tackler.
Well....
(And I think I'll stop right there.. ;) )
-
I wish I was there DR Jose, they are showing some very good movies it sounds like!
I happened to walk by the movie theatre where one of the showings was taking place tonight. Lots of men in kurtas, women in saris, etc. I immediately thought of you.
-
Cilla, how nice the girls fighting makes you happy. ;D :D
Well it wasn't vicious fighting, just cats playing. Callie is chasing a ball around tonight too. She hasn't played in a long time, so watching her run, wrestle with Boo and chase a ball tells me she's feeling better. She slept in my suitcase for 2 nights, lol, I finally put it away
-
So glad to hear that Callie is feeling better.
-
I wasn't watching it, my mother was as we spoke on the phone. He was talking about he and Marie...I'm sure he was promoting something
That was Bill O'Reilly's "The Factor" doing a segment on teen heart-throbs of yesteryear - no product promotion; after Donny he had Patrick Cassidy.
der Brucer
-
Patrick Cassidy? When I was young it was DAVID CASSIDY AHHHHH! I think I may have even had his poster up for awhile.
-
I had a blast tonight. A group of friends gathered to hear T. Wilson and another friend who plays bass. T is one of those guys who does the one man guitar oldies stuff. Tonight was a beautiful night - it's still about 80 degrees and we all had a few beverages and sang along. I haven't done that in a long time, it was great fun.
-
Tomorrow is the local Renaissance Festival. It goes all weekend. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 90 degrees and Sunday is rain. Not sure which is worse!
-
Doesn't David Burnham look a bit like Donny Osmond?
No, he looks a lot like Donny Osmond!

Time to take the girls and go to bed....night

Patrick Cassidy? When I was young it was DAVID CASSIDY AHHHHH! I think I may have even had his poster up for awhile.
Both, actually (emphasis on David) - I honed in on Patrick since I just recently saw him on stage in Joseph.

Too zoned to watch anything. Tried watching Josh Logan's film of Tall Story, but kept falling asleep. Then put on a couple of the Esther Williams movies from the recent box set but was appalled at how lackluster the transfers were, at least the two I sampled. Want to see what Technicolor should look like from that period? Put on Dr. Cyclops, which is gorgeous.
-
I'm zoning too..
Goodnight.
