Thanks Ginny. They think they are the only Interpro group left in the country. The rest all merged into Torch clubs http://www.torch.org/  They are an interesting group. Every Friday it's lunch and a speaker.  That's all there is to it. No special volunteer projects etc just talking and learning new things.  Pretty cool actually

MattH, have you watched DOSTI: FRIENDS FOREVER yet? I am so curious as to what your thoughts on it are/will be....and if you cry/ed as much as I did.

I watched it a couple of months ago, DR MBarnum, and wrote about it. Don't you remember my mentioning how surprised I was about their sometimes speaking English and switching back to Hindi off and on during the entire film. Totally caught me by surprise. I enjoyed the movie despite not having much physical contact. And yes, I did find it very moving indeed.

What a full evening of viewing I've had.

I began with NANCY GOES TO RIO. Never been one of my favorite MGM musicals even though there are a couple of beautiful songs ("Time and Time Again" and "Magic Is the Moonlight"). There were some registration problems off and on during the movie but much of it looks really wonderful. Not surprised by that. The numbers excerpted in THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT III which I reviewed on Blu-ray some months ago were eye-popping. Too bad they didn't have audio stems to fashion a stereo soundtrack for the movie. I'd love to hear some of those songs with a fuller presence.

And, DR JMK, I noticed more sound problems with this one than I did with HIT THE DECK.

Next, I put in the JANE POWELL: PRIVATE SCREENINGS interview (on TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE) and watched that.

Of course, I had seen it on TCM when it first aired but not since then, so it was nice to see it again.

Next was the last aired episode of MOONLIGHT. Made me swoon all over again for Alex O'Laughlin and can't wait to see where they take the character over the next new episodes which start up next week.

When that was over, I watched CANTERBURY'S LAW which had two cases tonight: one interesting and one not so much.

Easy to tell why the show just didn't catch on. They didn't give the audience much satisfaction with the case that was interesting tonight, and Canterbury's personal life is such a shambles. Who needs this kind of bad feeling? No way to launch a show with so much turmoil from the get-go.

No writing to do, so I think I'll close up shop and head down to bed.

Good night!

MBarnum, the review is here:

That was a great review JMK! I think you really have the hang of this Bollywood stuff...you expressed a lot of what I feel about these films...they are just so much like the musicals that Hollywood used to make!

Oh, I had thought that was your thoughts on MY BROTHER .....NIKHIL ( the movie about AIDS). I somehow missed that you had watched both Bollywood movies.

Back from the Dan Butler movie. We enjoyed it and it was fun to meet Dan Butler.

I am now very tired and must hit the hay!

That new minister must be keeping DearReaderLaura DR really hopping.

He doesn't begin until May sometime. Other crises have been keeping me busy.

Oh, and now I know what MISTY is! I have been listening to the CD from Tomovoz...of course I had heard that song many times...just didn't realize what the title of it was! My favorite rendition of it was by George Shearing.

And yes Tom, you did send the compilation of SUKIYAKA as done by many different people and I lool forward to listening to it tomorrow (I love that tune!).

BK - Got the box, thanks.

I sent you an email, no problems, just something I thought might interest you - mundane stuff about shipping methods.

For some reason it seems like Saturday and yet it's Friday.  There are boxes all over the dining room awaiting their postage strips, which will hopefully be here by noon.
