My father is going home today from hospital.  He's actually going to my brother's but it all seems a good sign.  Thanks again for the vibes and xylophones!

Write them back...let them know that I have that laserdisc and will rent it to them for $15,000!

:D

;D  Gave me my first big laugh of the day! Thanks.

Hope you're feeling better.

Better news than yesterday's, huh?

DR Elmore, I wasn't thinking when I suggested your last night here as a dinner option.  We may have to get creative and meet for breakfast or something!

WOW!  I ordered some Criterion DVDs through DeepDiscountDVD's sale that ended Monday....placed my order Monday...and they arrived TODAY!

Children of Paradise, I Vitelloni, The Lady Eve, The Third Man and The Blob are waiting to be added to the unwieldy pile of unwatched DVDs in my small condo.

Our cloud cover of this morning has completely cleared away and we have totally blue sky and hot temperatures for April. Was happy to get my errands accomplished and get back in my house which is still on the cool side.

NBC has had that portentious, pretentious announcer for more years than I care to remember.

I watched last night's WILL & GRACE and THE OFFICE while I cooked and ate lunch. Great fun and lots of laughs even though I was seeing each one for a second time.

I somehow screwed up the CSI I had recorded from last night and so I didn't see it. I was NOT a happy camper about that.

Instead, I went on to the last two episodes of ANGEL's third season. How dismal they left fans at the end of the season! Angel betrayed by his son into a watery grave, Cordelia ascending into a higher realm and broken up with Gru, Wesley at odds with Angel Investigation and sleeping with the enemy. If I had been watching the show then (I didn't come on board until the fourth season), I would have been utterly devastated by these turns of events at the end of the season.

I also watched the special features on the final disc which happily put faces to all the behind the scenes names of producers, writers, and directors that have given me so much pleasure for so long.

Then I put in Mae West's I'M NO ANGEL. This transfer looks simply amazing for a 1933 film. Knowing that Universal didn't sink nearly the money into mastering this for DVD that Warners put into bringing KING KONG to DVD, for example, it's just astonishing how wonderful it looks and with no real damage to the image that I could tell. Really first rate.

There's such a great quote from a great Eastern mystic teacher:

I use my memories. I do not allow my memories to use me.
I have a similar quote on my refrigerator. It's attributed to a native American, doesn't say who

"Don't let yesterday use up too much of today"

Well, I'm enjoying not working today. Not doing much, but I think I'll go out and take some photos of my daffodils and tulips.

Craig (the son in Romania) works until 9:00 at night and doesn’t get home until at least 10:00, so naturally he doesn’t feel like cooking then.  Today and tomorrow he has off, so while he was cooking tonight I was on Messenger with his girlfriend.  The non-Jewish girlfriend who has never been exposed to Jews before Craig (not that he religious).

I thought it was cute when I asked what he was making besides soup and she asked HOW I knew he was making soup-“it is Passover”.

Then I mentioned she should tell Craig to have a Seder.  She asked me if that was a drink.  While laughing my head off I wrote back to tell Craig what she just asked me.

Iowa City really got hit bad by tornados last night.  I lived there for 5 years during college so it was sad to see the photos of the destruction.  We're supposed to be in the tornado bullseye tomorrow night. Hopefully we'll get rain and that's it!

It's in the 80s again today. This is summer weather in Iowa. There is a breeze so I've kept the air off and it's really pretty nice in the house.

I've decided I need to get a lawn service for both houses.  I didn't mind the quick mow at the old house, but this one is going to be too much work.

Well, I better head outside. I hear lawn mowers and raked and all sorts of people working in their yards.  I really don't feel like it, but I am curious what flowers are starting to come up

I'll be going over to the editing room at four, so that's good.  I'll probably work until 7:15 and then be on my way to get Hisaka and meet Julieanne at Musso's at eight.

Well, they spent all day making a paper mache tomb, which is now complete with a body. Should be an interesting visual tonight.
