Pacific Northwest gang, how about lunch or dinner on Friday, June 30th?

Dinner sounds good to me!

LOL, boy am I out of it....I went to the surprise party and boy was I surprised....it's next week...LOL I can't believe that I did that.

I remember doing the same thing with Steve's birthday.  I got it stuck in my head that it was May 25.  Nope.  May 27.  Of course, the date only stuck in my head after I had surprised him with his birthday gift... On the 25th.  So, he ended up with an early present on the 25th and then a nice dinner on the 27th.

Here's a photo 'essay' from the Times-Dispatch article:

Elliott as himself - Elliott as Justin Guarini - Elliott as Chris Daughtry - Elliott as Ace Young

;D

That picture is really cute.  And while the long hair doesn't really suit him, he looks much better as Ace.  The hair covers his ears (which he needs). And the bowl cut is gone.  I think he could look good.  Although DR Ron, you really think he is more attractive than Justin Timberlake????

I don't find that Chris and Elliott look at all alike. I think chris looks better with the shaved head and beard than he did before.

I would think it would be chris/elliott/ace. But you never know. The teeny bopper girls have huge votes. And not sure if they will vote for ace, or someone younger like bobby brady or blonde boy kevin.

As for the girls i definitely think paris will make it far. I think most people love her. And lisa too.  I think katharine and kelly will also go far. Not 100% about mandissa. I know she has a nice voice. But not sure she will have the fans.

In an attempt to thwart the spread of bird flu, George W. Bush has bombed the Canary Islands.

I think also he may plan to bombTurkey, the College of Cardinals, Cardindals and Orioles spring training and Frank Perdue.

Not as good as your fantasies, DR TCB!

Speaking of friends, I had a lovely phone chat this afternoon with David Chase, who did the dance and vocal arrangements for THE PAJAMA GAME and the London GUYS AND DOLLS with Ewan McGregor.  He stays busy; he's currently working on THE WEDDING SINGER!  They're recording PAJAMA GAME on Monday.

...And I still remember thinking - when I six and/or seven years old - that Christmas fell on December 26.  And that Christmas Eve was December 25.

...And I think that came from mid-hearing - and then mis-singing - "Fum, Fum, Fum" at a Christmas pageant...

"On December 26th sing
Fum, Fum, Fum...."

DR TCB why would you stop watching because of Lisa Rinna? Or was that a joke?

Because he, like me, is sick of moronic reality television, especially moronic reality television with desperate second-rate stars.  Give me the D-list celebrity Kathy Griffin who laughs at herself any day.  Of course, I can't state these are DR TCB's feelings; I'm putting words in his mouth.  The sentiments are all mine.  I looked at the latest reality lineup in the new TV GUIDE and thought, shit.

The gift bags are only for the presenters aren't they?  Even so, that Vera Wang suite is going to be awfully crowded!

Heading down now to clean my bedroom and then settle in for some TV watching tonight. Not nearly as crowded a line-up as the last few nights (which pleases me mightily).

WBBL.

Hmmm, the weekend is almost here and Matt is cleaning his bedroom?  Sounds to me like someone's fella must be feeling a lot better!

By the way, the word on the Idol blogs is that Elliott wears an insulin pump and has had juvenile diabetes since he was 5.

Yes, Elliott is one of two of the twelve male finalists who is diabetic.

At least I'll be home for the Skating with the Celebrities final. They are doing their free skate part of the program tonight

I'm looking forward to that, too, DR Cillaliz.  And as soon as it's over, I'm going to bed.  The eventful way our week started at 2am  Monday has finally caught up with me and I'm exhausted.  Only one more day to work before a 3-day weekend and tomorrow I have a seminar at Sinclair Community College that I can just let wash over me.

On the health front, DH Richard is fine - cooked us a yummy chicken and rice dinner tonight.  His mother is back in her apartment.  It turns out the sister-in-law with whom I was peeved for not doing the errand she promised for our MiL had come down with the family flu - sorry, JCP!  Couple of times today, I felt a little "balmy" and wondered if it was hitting me, but I think it was just that the building in which I work is very hot.  Even the customers are complaining.

They Were You from THE FANTASTICKS

How could I have left this one out?  DH Richard and I used an instrumental version of it in the pre-ceremony music for our wedding!

T.O.D.

A Boy Like That from WEST SIDE STORY

One More Kiss from FOLLIES

YES!

I love playing "A Boy Like That".  The piano/vocal score arrangement is very gratifying.  And it's so neatly constructed.  Great "use" of the 6/4 time signature.  And the end of the bridge, "One of your own kind. Stick to your own kind..." - amazing how it the "beat" works there.

And hearing Licia Albanese and Erie Mills sing "One More Kiss" on the Follies: In Concert recording always brings a tear to my eye.

I just finished Jane Glover's wonderful MOZART'S WOMEN and recommend it wholeheartedly.  Her chapters on Mozart's sister, wife and sisters-in-law after his death and the publication of his music are quite fascinating, and it's a very different, much more positive, picture of the composer and his relationships than that of AMADEUS.  It's got me interested in hearing a lot of his music I don't know; last weekend I listened to LA CLEMENZA DI TITO, the opera seria he wrote while he was composing THE MAGIC FLUTE.  I didn't know the opera and it provided several glorious hours of music last Saturday.  I may listen to it again this weekend and follow it with my orchestra score.

DRs Ginny and Jane, your book groups should read this book and do a little listening along with the reading.

I suppose I shall now be on my way to the theater.  I think it's an extremely light house tonight, so I may not stay.  But, I'll run some things with Matt and Tammy to get them back in performance mode, and I hear tomorrow is a bigger crowd.

And I've just been given tickets to the STAGE benefit next week, so that's nice.  I haven't attended since the last one we recorded, which was back in '98, I think.
