Mark goes by either Robert or Elizabeth I think!

He may have been in Valmouth for the holidays.

I'm sure Mr Wynter has been in more musicals.  (though perhaps not in London)

Mr Wynter was a regular TV performer in OZ.  He was very popular on shows that later featured DR MusicGuy!

And sometimes DR MusicGuy guest stars at HHW where he's very popular!
He's popular with the populace!

I heard that Mark Wynter had an affair once with Susan Sommer but it only lasted a season!

I began my evening finishing the last GREY'S ANATOMY of season 1. The theme of that last episode was "secrets," and so every one of the major characters had some secret or other that got exposed during the episode.

Marjorie Belcher was Marge Champion who was the live model for Snow White.

Well,  Marge Champion was born Marjorie Belcher. She was not married to Mr Champion then. She also modeled for Fantasia and Pinocchio and she had a fling with Disney animator Art Babbitt who was one of the main instigators of the 1941 strike at the Studios....

Next I watched a DVD that came in today: STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME. The movie has always been entertaining but up until a few days ago, I didn't realize I had never gotten a DVD of it. I only had it on laserdisc. Deep Discount was having a sale on Paramount films, so I got this one was something like 5.88 or something (a two disc set).

I was VERY disappointed in the transfer of this film especially since this was supposed to be a remastered version of the original issue. It was anamorphic, so I guess I should be grateful for that. Much of it was soft, hazy, and drab, however. Except for a few outside shots, it looked to me much worse than the other TREK movies in the series. The Dolby Digital 5.1 sound was OK but nothing earthshaking.

I know she wasn't. I was trying to add just a bit of information for those folks here who might not know her as Marge Belcher but rather the person they would know as Marge Champion.

Actually, she had MORE than a fling with Mr Babbitt! She was married to him!

"Babbitt married Marjorie Celeste Belcher, the later Marge Champion, on August 8, 1937; she was just under 18, and he was 29. They divorced a year or two later. At the time of his marriage, Babbitt was in the midst of animating the Queen 's early scenes in Snow White. The sweatbox notes suggest that his work on those scenes began in early July 1937 and ended in late October; so if Walt Disney was about to fire Babbitt, he would have done so at the cost of disrupting production of his feature. Moreover, there is good reason to believe that Babbitt and Marjorie Belcher married not because they were having an affair, but because they were not having one. This is what Marge Champion told me when I interviewed her in 1993:

Champion: I loved Art very much; he was a terrific guy. We were just totally unsuited to each other.

Barrier: Everybody who has mentioned your marriage has said this, and I've never understood quite what happened between you.

Champion: I never have either, except that for a very brief period, he just swept me off my feet. You know, in those days, nice girls didn't, so that was one way of getting into life."

I finished my evening with EXECUTIVE DECISION, one of my all-time favorite action adventure films made in the last 15 years.

I hadn't watched this DVD since I got my new HDTV several years ago, and as this was one of the earliest DVD releases, you could tell that it was a dated transfer. It still looked OK, and Warners was forward thinking enough then to do an anamorphic transfer, so that was nice. The DOlby Digital 5.1 track is killer, as good as anything released today.

But the movie could really do with a video upgrade. There was lots of edge enhancement, colors were a little smeared in places, and the second unit special effects work was much grainier than the rest of the film.

Oops (spoo), I might be able to get to the last DOris Day film in the new collection - LUCKY ME. Not a favorite of mine, but it is in Cinemascope, so I'll be curious to see what kind of transfer Warners gave it.
