And it felt like today was the first day of spring.  Maybe not warm for some. But a lot of the snow has melted. And it was like 44F. It really felt warm!

I made my first required call to the clerk of courts and am not required to report on Monday for jury duty.  Only 9 more bullets to dodge!

Last night we watched "Inglourious Basterds".  We thought the opening scene was perfection.  In contrast we were shaking our heads at the end of the film.

I have that one reserved at the library. I am #2 so i should get it this week (3 days each).

Then I spent much of the rest of the afternoon with THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG. It is a real Disney musical, and the animation is really gorgeous (in Blu-ray, it's spectacular). The story is involving, and there are lovable creatures and evil villains as in all the Disney classics.

The difference between this and, say, THE LITTLE MERMAID (directed by the same guys) is in the choice of composer. Randy Newman can write entertaining and enjoyable music, and he's captured the New Orleans jazz sound just fine. But he just doesn't have the compositional variety of an Alan Menken to turn out a multi-song score in which the songs don't sound like one another. I liked the songs, but each one sounded like the last in many cases. And when a song plays over the closing credits, you can tell that Randy Newman had NOTHING to do with it at all because it sounds so very different from the rest of the songs.

I am curious about this movie. Is it more for kids or is it geared towards adults too?  My sister was going to take my niece to see it at the theatre but heard there were some scary parts for kids. So she is gonna buy it for her instead.

I have not seen it. But my niece does have the book. I can't say i'm crazy about the story. And i'm gathering they are frogs for more than half of it?

DR MBarnum re: SURVIVOR i'm curious if you were happy with the outcome?

I thought it was interesting that one person could have voted two ways. And interesting what that person decided.  Knowing you, i sort of bet you are happy with the outcome.  It was definitely interesting.

Now it is time for the Soup Awards.

Did MR BK mention the title of said play he is attending this evening?

No, DR ELMORE - it is NOT an opera....just a colorful Russian fairy tale......

I'm home from my trip to Des Moines.  It was a very long day, but also very well worth it.  I learned a few things I needed for a couple new cases I have and I enjoyed the time with other immigration lawyers.  I'm looking forward to the next seminar, an all day seminar in Omaha in a couple weeks.

I didn't get home until 8:00 pm so I was gone for about 12 hours.  By the way the cats acted, you'd think I'd been gone 12 days, lol. It's nice to be missed, but really it was only a couple hours longer than a lot of other days

Today's auditions went rather well for me - and consequently for the auditionees. ;)

But I did feel quite alert and extra-musical this morning. A big part of that was being more familiar with the acoustic of the room (which is very live). I could tell just how I needed to adjust my touch and volume in order to make the sound from the piano carry better to the stage and out into the room. There were also some very good people and unusual song selections which were fun to play.

Actually, it's my back, eyes and brain that get tired. And hopefully in that order.

When we were there yesterday and you got up and walked around, Richard said, "He looks like his back hurts."

I have to say, it's wonderful to be home.   I took the interstate to get there, but I HATE I-80 between Omaha and Des Moines.  There is always a cross wind and there are always tons of trucks that surround my little car at 70+ mph and I don't like it!!!

So I took the long way home, I headed out through the country side on the 2 lane state highways.  It's slower but shorter in distance and to my surprise only took about 15 minutes longer...and I stopped once for gas and once to go through a drive through to get some food.  I can't believe the depth of the snow in the countryside.  Many many places where the road has been cleared by cutting through drifts that are still taller than my car.   There is now a lot of talk about flooding.  It's supposed to rain this weekend.  I hope it doesn't melt too fast or rain too much.

Ah, we didn't get to 40 degrees here today.  It's been 94 consecutive days below 40 degrees.  We're supposed to break it tomorrow
