I spoke with Mom. She has Dad in the home that several of her friends went to, though I don't know how long she'll be able to afford it. They do have him under observation, so he won't wander off. But it sounds like they don't do anything else with him. He just sits there. As does everyone else. Not a good scene, if you ask me. But she might be able to get some rest while he's there.

This must be heartbreaking for you.  It does not sound like rehab at all.

I needed the shopping in order to work off some of the after effects of the cake.

At the most I would have had only one bite of that cake.  I hope you enjoyed it.

I had a very large bite.

Large in truly only one bite or large as in an entire piece ;)

It's not. It's a memory care unit. And it's sad.

I think one of the problems inherent in a series like this is that there's little tension between Poldark and Demelza. They're too much at peace and in love with each other.

I urge you to consider a home aide.  We were able to have help 7 days a week at home at a cost of about 1/4th of that of a facility.

I know.  It was my way of acknowledging the difference between your original understanding that he was going to a rehab center vs the reality. :(

For 9 years Echo and I visited nursing homes.  In Ashland I became very involved doing activies, going on outings, and working other activities on top of our pet therapy visits.  DR John my heart goes out to your family.

I guess I have that to look forward to.  My dad is showing signs of dementia.  It seems to have been coming on just in the last year or so...at least as far as I know.  Both his mom and my mom's mom had Alzheimer's, so it's on both sides of my family. :-\

That is scary DR George.  Vibes they do not get Alzheimer's or severe dementia.

Actually, both my grandmothers did have Alzheimer's, and they both died quite a few years ago with (from?) it.
