Had lunch at the Oakland Museum today with two co-workers.

As we exited through the ground floor parking area, folks were running around and acting startled.  Out on the street, fire trucks and police cars and clusters of people along the sidewalks were looking at the center of the road where medics were tending to a person I could not see.

The museum takes up two city blocks....and in the middle of the block were the medics.  Down at the end of the block toward me, my co-workers and I learned that a driver in a Honda Civic had been traveling at high speed the wrong way down the one-way street that extends 9 or 10 blocks.

According to a witness, someone had yelled out at the driver two blocks further down that he was going the wrong way.  The driver sped up and hit two women in the crosswalk.  One fell off to the side of his car, and the other travelled to mid-block where he swerved around her and sped off.

We haven't heard anything about their condition...but we stayed around long enough to listen to various witnesses tell news crews their horrific tale of what happened and how the victims fell, etc.   Sadly, where one victim had fallen were her shoes, her purse, a pair of glasses and a scarf, blouse and skirt, which the medics cut off her before placing her in the ambulance.

I am grateful I did not see it happen...I'm much too upset about having seen the aftermath.

DR Ron Pulliam - What an awful thing to happen.  I hope the victims are receiving the best care available.  Please let us know the outcome.

Shocking story, DR RLP.

I have been OFF the internet since 10 pm last night, thank you COMC-ASS-T.

Still dealing with a family situation - directing a play - and working....in short...having a busy life just like everyone else!

Watched VD last night - loved the extras - and will be watching with the commentary tonight.  :)

Good afternoon/evening all!  Lord, am I tired for some reason.  I think it won't be long after I hit the front door that I shall be going in to lay down.

Sorry that I didn't get the chance to post yesterday.  I received a few emails that I was trying to answer.  By the time I made it to the board, there was no way I could catch up on all the posts and post myself.

I did my best to scan as many as I could but I'm sure I missed a lot.

Thanks, Danise.  I have had a few setbacks this week, but I am coming along farily well.

Back from a really good luncheon with Mr. Kevin Spirtas - went to CPK and I had their delicious grilled sausage and peppers penne pasta - no bread, no salad, so I'm jiggy with the meal.

Well, I just ran out to Duane Reade to buy some paper towels and ended up getting caught up in a downpour on the way back.  Nothing like a sun-shower to perk up the afternoon.

I had that toy robot on the cover and it's one of the only toys from my youth that I actually remember having and loving.

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

This is how we can discuss this and warn off anyone who still hasn't seen it.

I saw this show Sunday night when it first aired, and it has re-aired on USA Network a few times since Sunday, so I'm not certain how long we need to wait before folks have had adequate opportunity to view it.

I agree that the ending was quite shocking....Lily was one of my favorite characters.  I hate the guy in the Foundation who is bent on abusing her and bending her to his will....perhaps he will get an "end" of his own that will be ugly and painful courtesy of Isabella.

I'm looking forward to the return of the founder of the Foundation...it should be interesting.

And all the internal struggling going on between their little terrorist wing and Sean is bound to become uglier.

I don't know how us plain folks are gonna survive!

I am envious MattH, with regards to the Robert the Robot.

I had a similar type robot toy which had blinking lights, etc., but ran on batteries. I got it in the early 1970s for Christmas or birthday or something. I didn't use it much until I started making my 8mm home movies during my Jr. High School years...then that robot starred in some of Galaxy Productions finest feature films including INVASION OF THE NEPTUNE MEN and LADY AND THE ROBOT.

Sadly, some years after Galaxy's studios shut down production, many of the props used in my films were discarded like so much garbage...and I have kicked myself ever since!!!!!!
