As for "300", let me just say that the director had an "image" of Spartan manhood that he cast for...six-pack abs, gym physiques, anachronistic leather speedos and vast flowing red capes to give it some oomph.

I thought all the actors acquitted themselves with verve, especially when wielding those enormous spears and swords.

It's a visually powerful film, and the battle scenes are amazing.

Oomph for oomph's sake, I say!

Maybe my time line of history is a bit confused.

I thought the "Battle of the Bulge" happened much later...

Did I detect just the minutest bit of frustration from BK in today's Notes? Is the funding of the fundraiser getting to be another lease-signing saga? Well, now, we CAN'T let that happen!

DR S. Woody White, I take it you finished Potter?

What about you, DR Dan (the Man)?

Not yet, but I am at the climatic climax (at least I think it is because everything seems so climaxitalistic!)

The "Battle of the Bulge" was fought by Richard Simmons.  Frequently.

Re: Norton, I too had trouble with it. What a shame when a company has such a fine reputation--and deservedly so--then cannot maintain it because of repeated design or execution mistakes.

If I may be allowed a KRITZER moment...

Nikki Blonsky, Tracy in HAIRSPRAY, is strongly reminiscent of a certain Lulu (Lolo in KRITZER TIME), known to BK and myself. Her size, height, boldness, love of attention--even her nose!--are so close it's uncanny. And, furthermore, she even had a taller, thinner, shier, blonde sidekick!

So, you fans of the Kritzer trilogy, when you come to Lolo, just think Nikki Blonsky.

If they're only LOANING bk the $ for the fundraiser, then their deal is off...and he shouldn't be aiding their own benefit with his sage counsel for free.

Brain rehearsals take place in some rehearsal hall I haven't worked in before - actually the first week is at Nola, which I have worked at before, then we move somewhere else in mid-town for the duration of our rehearsals.  We don't actually get in the theater until the morning of our first performance night, which is a little nutty to me.

I think Kim Novak is quite the beauty, but I have seen very few of her films...however JEANNE EAGLES will be recorded by my DVR in the near future (if only to see Mr. Richard Harrison in an early role)...

...I will say that I did enjoy her in STRANGERS WHEN WE MEET.

And it must be noted that Ms. Novak is practically a neighbor to our very own DR Jane. Kim Novak and hubby live in Eagle Point, Oregon which is about a 15 minute drive from Jane and Keith.

Back to 2007, I have much to do today. Boxes'o'stuff, as DR JOSE calls them, await. I am actually trying to organize my office. Horrors! Even the thought frightens me. But something must be done.

I worked out this morning, so I am feeling virtuous. Maybe that will give me the courage I need to face this daunting task.

Speaking of "Getting the lead out"

Toy-maker Fisher-Price is recalling 83 types of toys — including the popular Big Bird, Elmo, Dora and Diego characters — because their paint contains excessive amounts of lead.

Vibes for MR BK....and for friend of DR GEORGE...Margo....what a terrible thing.   I hate it when they bring someone in and tell them they have to cut X amount of dollars from the dept. budget, and the only thing they can think to do is GET rid of someone...especially someone at the top of their pay scale.

In this case, it wasn't an issue of money.  They've actually added more than 30 new positions/jobs around the library district.

And Thanks for all the Vibes for Margo!!!  I'm saving them and will show them to her when she gets back from camping with her kids. :)
