Well, you've read the notes, the notes were one of the eight million stories in the naked city, and now it is time for you to post until the naked cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: LUCULENT!
-
And I am telling you that I must sleep now.
-
And now for something completely different!! The Page One Mona Lisa Dance:
-
cool... Do you like Monty Python?
-
Have you seen Spamalot?
-
It's been a while since I've seen any of the MP TV shows, but I like them. I have a couple of the movies. I have not seen Spamalot live.
-
...(the operative word being "live"). ::)
;)

THey are actually broadcasting the series again here.
Love Holy Grail
-
The library system where I work bought the entire TV series.
-
Well...I need to get to sleep. Good night, DakotaCelt. Sleep well. :)
-
And the word of the day is: LUCULENT!
My lucu is lent at the moment.

There is an interesting article about synthetic pit orchestras here (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/25/theater/25green.html) in today's New York Times.
And they seem to agree with everything DR JoseSPiano said a few days ago about the Notion software. :)
-
When do we get to the naked stories?
Wait a minute...
Oh, sorry, I misread that.
-
And, given DR JoseSPiano's recent work days, an article on casting and auditions here (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/25/theater/25goodwin.html).
-
Thanks are due to the non-wussburger DRs who valiantly kept the numbers up last night.
-
Off to get ready for church. Just the pros this morning, with a substitute organist.
Smooches, kids!
-
Thanks for that link DR SINGDAW....very interesting.
DR CILLA LIZ - snazzy new avatar! Nice haid style - as they say in Kentucky. My guess about your dream is that you are looking forward to your job change, still not sure about what to take and what to leave emotionally, but that compared to what you are doing now, it will be a vacation. Copyright 2007 Dream-O-Matic.
JRAND HOTEL....LOL....
-
LOL...DR LAURA - the reference was to a line in the Barbra Streisand movie THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT in which they went to an X-Rated movie theatre. Said movie was playing.....
-
There are 8 million cows in the Naked City. This is one and this is an udder.
-
Wow, a lot of posts to catch up on. And i only stopped reading at 7pm eastern last night!
Tonight on tv for me TAR! And the GREASE finale. I"ll probably watch that one later.
-
I really like Ben Affleck. And I like FORCES OF NATURE, to a point.
Lady on the train: I always thought sex was one of those things God burdened women with, like cramps and high heels.
Ben to Sandra: Okay well, thanks. Except for the plane crash and the drug bust, it's been fun.
Sandra to the bus load of senior citizens with whom they have hitched a ride: This is my husband, the doctor. We're planning on living in Miami. I mean, why not? That place is just one big emergency room, right? No offense.
-
Yes, DR JENNIFER....TAR tonight! Very excited to see what happens.
-
Sunday morning greetings! I'm up early to make another pecan pie, this one for the little family dinner we're having tonight.
-
Good Morning!
...Or I could end up zonking out on the couch around 10:00 last night... Then wake up around 1:00am to see that "SNL" was ending - so I turned off the TV... Then get up again around 5:00 to see that the lights were still on in the living room... Then, finally, around 5:30, getting up, turning off the lights before heading to my bedroom...
And then logging on to HHW to find 10 pages of posts to catch up on from last night! Whew! *At least most of those posts were "fast reads", but still... WHEW!
-
DR singdaw - Thanks for the links to the NY Times articles. Looks like I'll be buying a hard copy on the way to the subway in a bit.
-
DR Cillaliz - Nice new haircut, and new avatar.
-
And, sadly(?), I will not be able to watch "Grease:YTOTIW" live tonight due to a previously scheduled engagement - Thank You DR FJL! However, I look forward to watching it later on the DVR. I know how they're padding the hour... I know how they're padding the hour... I know how they're padding the hour... I know how they're padding the hour... I know how they're padding the hour... I know how they're padding the hour.... -But I think the news was leaked on one of the theatre boards anyway. We - well, rather YOU shall see.
;)
-
And on that note, it's time for me "go get 'em" again today. Thankfully, due to a scheduling change, I am off tomorrow - HOO and RAY! I am soooooo looking forward to sleeping in until (at least) 10:00 - probably Noon. :)
Laters...
-
Are they padding the hour? How? The whole show is land fill to me. :)
-
Have fun today, DRJOSE - the business of show!
-
Is the Mark Hellinger mentioned in today's notes the same who had a theater named after him? (We need the theater back)
-
DR EDISAURUS - much of EIGHT MEN OUT was filmed in Indianapolis and several of my friends are in it...I am in the courtroom sequence near the end as one of the reporters.
I am in the middle of the screen walking up the aisle with my back to the camera in the first courtroom shot.
When John Cusack stands up and demands a separate trial, I am one of the two reporters standing behind him - out of focus (camera wise that is).
When a witness says that the confessions have been stolen, I am the first reporter out of my seat and heading for the door.
It was great fun. Mr Charlie Sheen was very pleasant to everyone. Mr Christopher Lloyd was wonderful. I talked a bit with Mr John Anderson and he was also very nice. Mr John Sayles and Mr Studs Terkel were always very funny.....and most of us were fired a couple of times a day.
I think I may have a couple of pictures from the set, if I can find them.
-
Page Two EIGHT MEN OUT dance....for some reason I am not featured on the DVD box. :P

Good morning, all! I slept poorly last night, and I think I will tread cautiously today.
That is all.
-
Watching your step is NEVER a bad idea.
Basketball may run overtime which will give me a few minutes to watch GREASE.....before TAR starts.
-
Some days I get up and just want to hear some of my old LP's.
Today's group:
Eric Burdon and the Animals.
-
Great pictures of the neighbors yesterday, DR LAURA. It looks like everyone is having fun!
-
Hmmmmm....BRAVO seems to be running the entire series of GREASE YOU'RE THE ONE THAT I WANT starting at 10 am EDST. I don't think I want to relive it again.....hmmmm......
-
Good morning. That is all.
-
This morning at church I will be reading a book to the children about saguaro cacti; then we will plant a four-year-old saguaro in the garden out front.

I really liked 8 Men Out..I need to rent it again now so I can see the real star of the show!
-
I like the short haircut, Cillaliz!
-
DR Cillaliz - love the new haircut!
Thanks. I was really sick of the salon I was going to giving me haircuts I hated. So I went to a highly recommended salon next to my coffee place. The minute I sat down and said what do you suggest I could tell I was talking to a professional who knew what she was recommending and why AND it was the same price I had been paying elsewhere
-
DR Cillaliz - Nice new haircut, and new avatar.
Even more important, who took that saucy photo?

I did. ;D

That little girl is also four years old. She will be having hot flashes when it blooms for the first time.

Mr John Sayles and Mr Studs Terkel were always very funny
I may have to purchase this DVD.
But how was John Cusack? I really like him. And did you meet Bill Irwin? He's SUPER nice! I got to meet him when he came down for a TCM shoot for SILENT SUNDAY NIGHTS. That was thrilling! Then I got to see him several times after that in Broadway shows. I would always introduce myself as "Amy from Atlanta". Last time I saw him, he had assumed I'd moved to NY. LOL!
-
Also, Studs Terkel is in SACCO AND VANZETTI.
You New Yorkers may seeing an ad in the VOICE this week. Enjoy it, because it's over $5,000 out of our (non-existant) profits to run it.
At that price, maybe we should frame it!
-
Good morning!
Another beautiful day in the neighborhood (a Mr. Rogers reference), and another day in the 80s for highs.
My grass in the front yard is growing high in places and really needs trimming, but I'm just not in the mood to do it. Maybe later.
-
Is the Mark Hellinger mentioned in today's notes the same who had a theater named after him? (We need the theater back)
Yes, it is. Ironically, he died shortly after the movie's first preview, so THE NAKED CITY was his last enterprise.
-
Yes, I knew GREASE would be padded tonight. I mean, the voting's done, so much like AMERICAN IDOL's finale show, there's about 10 seconds of information, and (in tonight's case) an hour of time to fill.
-
It's also the series finale of ROME tonight, a show I'm going to miss very much.
Thankfully, Kevin McKidd's making a pilot for a series next season, and if it gets picked up, at least I'll be able to view his hunky presence on a weakly basis next season.
-
It will be interesting to see if NCAA basketball runs over tonight throwing off CBS' prime time schedule. It was off by about 45 minutes last week, so I'm expecting the worst tonight, too. This is where DVRs really come in handy.
-
As for my viewing schedule today, I will start with the SHirley MacLaine movie WHAT A WAY TO GO! this afternoon. I still have an episode of SCRUBS from Thursday night to watch. And the next W.C. Fields movie in the box is THE MAN ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE which I've never seen, and as it's only a little over an hour, I should be able to get to it this afternoon, too.
-
This week, I got the second season of THE WILD WILD WEST and the first season of MAUDE, both of which I'm very excited about revisiting.
The second season was the first in color for James West, and to see Robert COnrad at his hunkiest in color should be great eye candy. But it's likely I won't get to those until tomorrow. We'll see.

Page Three Dance: Harry Potter and his godfather Sirius Black.
-
I really like the new avatar, DR Cillaliz. Most becoming pic of you!
-
And the word of the day is: LUCULENT!
A little-known bit of trivia -
Richie Cunningham's friend, Warren Webber, later in life became known as the author of the children's book Mommy, I Went Potsie!, a LUCULENT explanation of toilet training for toddlers.
-
When do we get to the naked stories?
Wait a minute...
Oh, sorry, I misread that.
Do a search for the Randy Vicar series, very popular in these parts. Such as The Randy Vicar and the Luculent Lookie-Loo.
-
Yes, we love Randy Vicar stories.
-

I thought Sandy's bra was already stuffed with Kleenex. (A "Raining on Prom Night" reference.)

-
Good Morning! once again...
-From the beautiful and "spare" Chelsea Studios on W. 26th Street that were "featured" in that NY Times article that DR singdaw hot-linked earlier.
-And 8th Ave was pretty spare this morning too. It always amazes that are certain times of the day, it can almost seem like New York City is actually "sleeping".
-
...And since I had time to read courtesy of the downtown A Train...
Both those articles that DR singdaw cited earlier were quite good reads. The Avenue Q one should be read by anyone and everyone who's been following "Grease:YTOTIW", and the final sentence of the virtual orchestra one... <cue the dramatic music>
-
Also, Studs Terkel is in SACCO AND VANZETTI.

Looks like Sarah's Kitchen, New York, October 2006...just before we started our Central Park walking tour. Am I close?

Great Avatar, Ginny, nice to see your smiling face!

Nice avatar, DR Ginny. So great to see our HHWs in all their smiling glory.

It's a beautiful day so far, very windy but very nice. Think I'll go outside and pull dead weeds while the ground is soft so the tulips, daffodils and crocus will have room to bloom!

Yesterday, DR Edisaurus wrote:
The dinner party was wonderful. 5 couples dining in the midst of a boxwood parterre planted in the 1800's. We dined under the arbor, which was covered in muscadine grape vines. Our hostess hasn't found any good use for the grapes yet.
What an interesting coincidence! The book I'm reading, The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook, has several recipes involving muscadine grapes. There's Grape Hull Pie (pages 454-455), Scuppernong Preserves (132-134), Scuppernong Sake (55), and muscadine wine is included in their recipe for Johns Island Iced Tea (43-44).
Oh, and there's also Scuppernong Grape and Hot-Pepper Roasted Duck, (323-324). Although that recipe says "1/3 cup Scuppernong Preserves or other top-quality grape preserves," which I assume doesn't mean Welch's.

Heading down now to get laundry started and then begin preparing lunch.
WBBL.
-
And with that, it's time once again to get ready for work.
The house is filled with dog-flop. Buster and Fletcher are on opposite ends of one couch, Bonnie on the other couch, Mikey and Marty on der Brucer's bed (Marty with his head over der B's knee), all blissfully drowsing.

And one for Marty

Nice avatar, DR Ginny. So great to see our HHWs in all their smiling glory.
Thanks, DR MattH. And thanks, too, for the report on the World Figure Skating Championships. I missed the broadcast last night, but had seen the results online earlier in the day.
Our family last night watched one of my and DH Richard's favorite movies, An Officer and A Gentleman. Our DS Rob had never seen it and we decided it was time, because he's in the process of applying to Naval OCS.

Hmm... I still remember watching that movie with my parents... When I was a teenager. Talk about uncomfortable.
-Although, I did love "Up Where We Belong".
-
Will we never get to page five?
-
I had a pretty good night's sleep if I do say so myself, which I do since why would anyone else say it?
-
Oh, and I'm up.
-
Yes, lovely new avatar from DR GINNY....we are ALL getting makeovers and being made over! What a great way to spend a Sunday.
-
I am watching a mega dose of GREASE.....and I have a question...or two.
Why is Austin HOT Danny? Whew.....and does Austin have a topper or other hair augmentation? Something ain't right there.
-
GREASE spoiler:
Here it is folks, the only sensible solution:
Slack Danny Max as Danny Zuko
Hot Danny Austin as Sandy Dumbrowski
-
I was reading the FSM board.
I have tried to register a couple of tiimes, but always get rejected. Don't know if it's me or my shirt.
-
Wow this show isn't any better even on my NEW television.
-
Comment by my friend Keith while watching AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMEN in its original release so many years ago: "I'm sorry, but no woman who lives in a hovel like that would have Softsoap in her kitchen."
My observation: But of course today, everyone can have Softsoap regardless of financial status or living conditions. So by that measure, we live in better times.
:)
-
I'm being very liberal with the smilies today on all messages and emails, lest I be taken seriously.
The last thing I want is to be taken seriously. :)
-
Well, a sunny and mild lovely good morning to dear Esteemed BK --
And also to the gathered H/Ks and DRs . It's nice to see a picture of you Ginny....and Cilla, I second what everyone has said about your new picture, and might I add that you also look 10 years younger!
-
And sparkling Sunday greetings also to Jack, and Fred.
And even though it is Sunday......
I STILL BLAME JOSE (but in a devotional way. :) )
-
I just finished a little bush-pruning in my backyard (leave it alone Elmore and TCB) , and I'm gonna get a bite.
Ta ta and goodbye for now.

Greetings to DR (and friend of Rhonda Fleming) MUSIC GUY and DR FJL.
DR EDI - you will have to be ready to do some stop AND zoom to find me in EIGHT MEN OUT.
John Cusack was very serious and didn't talk to many people on the set, spent a lot of time by himself. I think his father played the judge or something.
I didn't see much of Bill Irwin, he wasn't on the set unless film was being made and I didn't see many people approach him or talk to him. He is taller in REAL LIFE than he appears on TV....as is Cusack. Charlie Sheen seemed very short compared to Cusack....but then EVERYONE was short standing next to Sayles!
-
In "real life" the two best looking guys were Perry Lang and Michael Rooker.
-
I had a friend once whom we referred to as Richard Flaming. Thought I'd share that.
-
Getting ready to go to storage to lift heavy boxes of music - unless I get lucky and the boxes I need are on top.
-
And sparkling Sunday greetings also to Jack, and Fred.

I STILL BLAME JOSE (but in a devotional way. :) )
Ooohh... I do so like being worshipped.

'Tis an interesting day in All About Us land.
That is all.

Someone said on another chat board that while the male winner of the Grease contest will play Danny, they'll give the loser Doody.
What does it say about me that I can't even type the above and not burst out laughing? (Rhetorical question.)

I have three photos taken during EMO - two in the holding area with some friends in our "costumes"....
This is the only ON SET photo I have, taken by my friend Marika who played the wife of one of the players. The courtroom scenes were filmed in the old Federal Post Office in downtown Indy.
1. Studs Terkel
2. C C Barnes, assistant director who was ALWAYS getting yelled at, but who was surprisingly patient with us...."Take off that watch. Put that newspaper away. Who is chewing gum?"
3. Gina Randazzo, 2nd Assistant, talking to me before a "take"...she was very funny, too...and the guys loved her!
4. Me, myself, being told what to do, and listening, for a change.
5. Another A.D. - Mr handsome himself Gary Marcus. This guy was a cutie and had the girl extras all agog. All he wanted to do was get the hell out of Indiana and get back to California. No nonsense guy, but pleasant....except when he tossed a gal extra out when she complained about her hairstyle.
6. D.P. Robert Richardson. Probably the hardest working guy on the set. Very quiet. Short, handsome.
-
oop! I think Richardson is the guy to the left of Gary - scratching his head. The other guy was some German who kept futzing with the lights.
-
And one for Marcus

JRand - You're quite a cutie-patootie yourself, all dressed up.
Much better looking than your avatar.
-
DR JRand - I think some librarian friends of mine were also extras in EMO, spectators in the stands during the games, maybe.

Prolly, DR GINNY - they kept asking and asking and advertising to get people out there....but they couldn't fill the stands.
A lot of the "people" in the stands are cardboard cutouts. ;D
-
Oh, if the spring weather disappears and we have wintery temps soon, y'all can blame me. I've spent some time today putting sweaters and turtlenecks away and getting out some warmer-weather clothes. That should guarantee a cold snap.

Hello, HHW!
My, such a lot of catching up to do!
I noticed THREE new avatars!
GEORGE, I really like your new avatar. Such a friendly-looking fellow!
CILLALIZ, I see, has a cute new "do" to go with her upcoming new gig.
And I now have a mental image of GINNY.
Lovely avatars, all.
As for me, well, one of these days I'll put something up.
-
Does any other DR have a pet peeve about something in a show or movie like:
Teen Angel - in GREASE is that big guy ... "Teen Angel" the song was sung by a guy but the Teen Angel is was singing to is a GIRL!!!!

Marvelous Matt is here, finishing up the guest room floor and preparing for the Big Switcheroo when we move everything from my home office into the guest room so that my office can be painted. My office is not exactly what anyone would call neat and tidy at the moment, but I do know where things are. I always hate having to do the Big Switcheroo, but it's more emotion than reality. I've been busy packing up office stuff I don't really need to get it out of the way. Much yet to do.

Somehow I don't think that canning veggies is in my future. Many years ago, maybe, but not now. I'm losing my domesticity.
Would like to see Grandma's avatar...

DRs Cillaliz and George and Ginny -
Please allow me to add to the HHW chorus in saying: LOVELY new avatars, all! :D
-
DR JoseSPiano - congrats on your day off tomorrow. Use the time well; make us proud! :)

Time to feed the cats
A bit of pate, mother darling?

She will be having hot flashes when it blooms for the first time.

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood (a Mr. Rogers reference)
I used to have Mr. Rogers's LP album! I got my jollies by putting it on at top volume, leaving my dorm room door open, and watching the jaws of fellow students drop as they strode by. A particular favorite was Tree, Tree, Tree.

Kevin McKidd's making a pilot for a series next season, and if it gets picked up, at least I'll be able to view his hunky presence on a weakly basis next season.
Will he leave us weekly weak-kneed?

LOL.....the crystal ball reveals all.
Loser gets Doody....that is golden!!! ;D
Well, it all depends which Danny wins/gets the role. So... :-\

OK.... LUNCH!

I will start with the SHirley MacLaine movie WHAT A WAY TO GO! this afternoon.
That film certainly is great fun.

Why not frame it?
Like many of your clients?

-
LOL DR JEANNE.....what a great thing....a new environment....
-
THE MAMBO KINGS.....in this movie, "I Love Lucy" was presented as a LIVE television broadcast! I was appalled!
-
Granny's Avatar....sounds like something that would be in the milk house.
-
Damn Austin is singing this song F L A T.
-
Sorry, DR JRand56, the milk train doesn't stop here anymore...
-
Back from storage - didn't find anything I needed. Well, one chart was in a box at the bottom of a very big pile, and because I know the routine of that chart, I'll just use the published music. The other wasn't there at all because one of my darling singers has never returned her entire box of music for both her albums. She'll be getting a leetle call momentarily.
-
Dear H/Ks, while most of Google's hits for "RANDY VICAR" seem to reference UK sources, you'll be happy to know that HHW nabbed the #2 spot. :) Fruit compote, indeed!

Granny's Avatar....sounds like something that would be in the milk house.
Or in a glass beside the bed and the Bible.

Dinosaur doody?
What's all this about Dinah Shore playing Doody?
[sorry, DR FJL...couldn't resist repeating your joke!] :)

The caravan is about to roll, taking DS Rob back to college for his spring/summer co-op job. My mini-SUV is required, with the back seats folded down, to transport the new coffee table he purchased at the "flea market" at my mom's retirement community.
Bye for now!

Doesn't Doody moon the audience or lose his pants in the show? :P

I got my jollies by putting it on at top volume, leaving my dorm room door open, and watching the jaws of fellow students drop as they strode by.
Were they agape at the music or the sight of you and your "jollies".

So what was the final critical consensus on CURTAINS? Open or closed?

So just to be clear on tonight's results, the one who's Number 1 will be Danny and the one who's Number 2 will be Doody, is that right?
Guffaw!
I'll just sit here slaying myself.
They call me suicidal because I slay me. (almost a Honeymooners reference)
-
I'm laughing 'til I cry here.
-
So what was the final critical consensus on CURTAINS? Open or closed?
There used to be site [is it Variety? or some other entity?] that used to tally all the reviews in categories...rave, mixed, pan. I wonder if that still exists.
-
Yes, variety still does that, but I've only seen it in the print edition, not online.
-
So just to be clear on tonight's results, the one who's Number 1 will be Danny and the one who's Number 2 will be Doody, is that right?
Only if a certain Danny contender gets the role of Danny. But even then, Doody could still be up in the air.

Sorry, another question from the new guy:
Are Donald Feltham's radio programs archived and/or accessible on this site, or does each new weekly program simply replace the old? I searched, but didn't see the old programs. Thanks!

This morning at church I will be reading a book to the children about saguaro cacti; then we will plant a four-year-old saguaro in the garden out front.

DR FJL - There must be something in the air... My friend, Jeff, who was going to go to the ballet with me tonight just called to cancel - he just found out he has strep throat. So... I'm making phone calls and sending out e-mails, but in the meantime...

From the Dr. Pepper cookbook: HELL'S OWN ASPIC
This is one of those bizarre dishes that looks like something they peeled off Spock's back. Why embedded olives equalled deliciousness, I can only guess - but even more disturbing on close examination are the faces entombed in the aspic. The olives of the damned!

It's Caspar David Friedrich's picnic basket!
What a bleak vista to regard on a winter’s day - surreal, disturbing, hardly reassuring. Life is just a sweet, perishable thing dropped in the uncaring wastelands of ice and snow and sunless skies. What happened to the fellow who dropped this basket as he staggered across the frozen terrain? Why was he carrying unprotected fruits and vegetables across the Antarctic, anyway?
Inside, the depressing mood continues, as you’ll see.
It wasn’t until much later, when they caught the First Lutheran Church standing over the body of another housewife over in Cass County, that they realized that the spire had been stalking and murdering women for years. This explained why so many women got that creepy feeling that someone was watching them - and when they turned around, they just saw a church. Later, they’d think: wait a minute. There’s no church in our side yard. And by then the church would be gone.
And so much more!

Thanks! So...how long will "one of these days" take?? :)

DRs Cillaliz and George and Ginny -

This ones's for Fred:
Bar-B-Tricks (http://www.lileks.com/institute/gallery/bbtrix/1.html)
Yes, you too can be a Cookout Champion with these “Bar-B-Tricks.” (That would be a good name for someone who dressed up like a pointy-boobed tiptoe doll in bondage clothes: a Barbitrix.)
Let’s just say this is the definition of anti-kosher.
Let your next Bar-B-Que use Bar-B-Burgers for a new Bar-B-Trick - but don't let the guests watch you Bar-B-Cook lest they Bar-B-Barf. Not everyone understands this. Not everyone understands that double-rich evaporated undiluted bovine excretion provides essential cohesion properties. No other form of milk will do! Don't even think about using powered wildebeest teat-leak! Drive from your mind all consideration of two-percent swine lactation!
I’ve had burgers fall apart, but never crumble. In those days days when you could get ground beef that was 50% fat.; the burgers fell apart if you sneered at them. But you didn't. Because they were 50% fat. And Lord they were good.

I ended my afternoon with the first episode in the season two DVD set of THE WILD WILD WEST - "The Night of the Eccentrics."
This was the first season the show was shot and shown in color, and oh, boy, is that color breathtaking! If it weren't for the 4:3 aspect ratio and the mono sound, you'd almost swear these shows were shot yesterday. Not a speck of dirt or a scratch anywhere in this transfer.
Great guest cast in this one: Victor Buono as the head of the crime organization, Richard Pryor (looking about 20 years old) as a ventriloquist, and Anthony Eisley as the fastest gun in the west.
But the biggest surprise for me was Paul Wallace (Tulsa in the original Broadway and movie of GYPSY) as the expert knife thrower. He had a rather lamentable British accent, but otherwise, it was the only time I've ever seen him apart from GYPSY, and it was a great moment of realization when I first got a good look at his face.

Associated Press (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,261085,00.html)
Arizona Principal Hesitates to Excuse Absences of GI's Kids
TUCSON, Ariz. —
When her husband comes home to Tucson on leave from Iraq, Keila Rios could face a dilemma she finds infuriating.
She plans to take their children out of school for a week to spend time with their Army dad.
But when she asked for makeup work they could do at home, she initially was told they'd receive zeros if they didn't go to class.
The head of the charter school they attend declared the absences inexcusable and told the Arizona Daily Star that Rios' children would not be allowed to make up missed assignments.
…
Keila Rios said Griffin told her that families pull kids out of class for all kinds of reasons — from beauty contests to Disneyland vacations — and said it wouldn't be fair to approve her request for makeup work when he's refused the others.
…
The Rioses are "awesome" parents and their children are exceptional students — but rules are rules, (the principla) said in a telephone interview Thursday morning.
"We have a policy saying we don't give out makeup work for unexcused absences. We can't pick and choose and give preferential treatment."
Of course you can "pick and choose" - it's called management.
Fire this dim-witted dunderhead!

Unless you/he have/has an agent, there is usually no "courtesy" call. No news is no job.

And re: this whole doody thing. I think the rumor is that austin has been "selected" to win not by the public but by those involved with the show. And max will be offered doody when he loses.
I would not be happy with that. But i would be okay if max lost legitimately and they did that.
As for what will fill the show tonight i think that rumor is that it will be those already cast for the broadway production. DR Jose is that what you were referring to?

He was married to a documentary filmmaker I knew, Monona Wali. He's shot most of Oliver Stone's films since Salvador, where he was hired because of his documentary experience. I love his work, although some times I resent having to sit through an "Oliver Stone film to see it!

Turns out there's another Edward Scissorhands ticket for tonight; someone bowed out at the last minute. Free to any taker from HHW or a friend of an HHW-er. Just PM me before 3 p.m.
Is it a good show?
-
I don't use curtains, I use blinds or shades. Right now, some are open and some are closed
;D
-
Has anyone EVER put evaporated milk into their hamburgers?
That sounds very non-kosher.
-
DR Jennifer, if Austin has been "chosen" as Danny by the producers but didn't win legitimately, you don't think WE'LL ever know, do you? There is NO WAY they'd EVER make that public after stringing along the viewers who have been voting all these weeks.
-
I never sausage a TV show as this.
LOL, FJL!
-
Thanks for the Scissorhands report, Matt. Something to look forward to. :) :) :)
I certainly didn't mean to pour cold water. My friends may have just not been ballet aficianados. I'm not sure they didn't know it wasn't a musical.
-
DR Ginny, our friends at Dust To Digital have just released a sacred harp compilation that is getting some good reviews:
http://dust-digital.com/sacred-harp.htm
Maybe something for DH Richard's birthday?
-
It stands for "Long Play"; I'm surprised the initials don't follow your name, like Ph.D!
No, actually the initials after my name are PE, not LP. In this case, they stand for the reverse of Long Play.

No word from Jane and keith yet, today -- I hesitate to call, since they're probably still settling into whatever new routine they have to adopt for the next couple of months... maybe I'll check in, and then get back to y'all...

Beofre i bother them, anyone have word?

Okay - well, if they are busy, they'll let the machine get the phone... back soon.

Heading down now to clean the guest bath and then settle in for a night of TV including finales of two shows.

This week, I got the second season of THE WILD WILD WEST and the first season of MAUDE, both of which I'm very excited about revisiting.
I spent last night watching the entire first disk in the MAUDE set. I loved the show back then and I still love it now. It's still hilarious. Great writing and comic acting by Bea Arthur, Bill Macy, Conrad Bain and Ester Rolle. And I also include Adrienne Barbeau--she is very sharp and funny and witty and held her own with Bea Arthur. After watching her last night in the first eight episodes, it puzzles me why she did the type of work she went on to after this series ended. In any case, I'm looking forward to taking in the other two disks in this set.

I suppose that being married to John Carpenter, for a time, may have influenced some decisions.

Ouch. Max's pants are so tight, they hurt me.
Last time the pants were mentioned, I tried composing a Guy Noir-ism to the effect:
His jeans were so tight, I got a migraine trying to remove them with my eyes.
...but it didn't really scan.

Hi, I’m here, for how long I have no idea. One of us has to watch Sherlock at all times to make sure he doesn’t scratch or bite, not just his incisions but the very sensitive shaved areas of skin.
Thank you all for the good wishes and vibes. I’m sure they helped. How he ended up with two major problems is beyond us. So much for doing our homework before choosing a breeder, of course the three pups she kept are just fine. Sometimes these things happen & Sherlock is lucky is parents are extremely pro-active. I don’t know what would have happened if I hadn’t insisted surgery time be saved for him.
The only good thing, so far, to come out of the elbow dysplasia is we caught the shoulder problem before any damage was done. The doctor described compared the situation to having blisters about to pop, so he popped them and removed the cartilage (I have it in a tube). The shoulders were an easy fix & the problem shouldn’t return, and there won’t be any future arthritis as a result of the Osteochondritis.
-
George do you also have a new avatar or have I been away too long?
Ginny, you are looking very nice. :)
Cilla-Wow! You look all grown up now. Did you also loose weight?

Hello, hello all!
Just got back from the beach with a good friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while. It was really nice out there -- until the clouds started moving in and a cooler breeze kicked up. Still, I got in a much-needed nap and had a good time catching up with Gaber.
Still no word from "The Full Monty"...I'll give 'em a call tomorrow just to follow up. I just wish they would've let me know either way, instead of this waiting.

Jane, you and Keith are a pair of saints. Sherlock is a lucky pup to have you two as parents!

Unless you/he have/has an agent, there is usually no "courtesy" call. No news is no job.
However, since they told DR Cason that it was down to him and someone else, and that they would need an extra day...
Well, I guess that says it all.

Cilla-Wow! You look all grown up now. Did you also loose weight?
LOL Jane, No I haven't lost weight, it was just the way I held the camera and very careful cropping to create the optical illusion.

With butterflies in our stomachs Thursday morning we met the doctor who began a very thorough, and at times painful, examination of Sherlock. He was such a good boy, as always. We expected to see pain in his shoulders, not his elbows. The more the doctor examined Sherlock’s elbows the more serious his expression became. After the exam he looked at the x-rays for the first time. He found the problem with the shoulders & continued to say this isn’t why he is limping. Then the doctor pointed to obvious bi-lateral problems with the elbows the radiologist should have seen and proceeded to explain the seriousness of this and, depending on the amount of damage, the worst case scenario would eventually be a completely crippled dog.
Sherlock has incongruent bone growth in his two front legs which potentially effects his elbows, so elbow dysplsia. The bones may catch up with each other-the miracle we are praying for-but not likely. Displasia ultimately causes arthritis which can be crippling, or not too bad. Initially the doctor wanted to put pins in the shorter bones to even them out, until he did the Cat Scan. Now that is impossible until he stops growing (Keith & I were both relieved). Instead he did arthroscopic surgery, as he did on the shoulders, removing cartilage fragments from the right leg. So far there isn’t any damage.
We will return in two months to reassess. If surgery is required it will be a nightmare, one elbow at a time. Recovery for each surgery will require 8 weeks of confinement in a pen. Of course he would have to be tranquilized the entire time. Since there hasn’t been any damage so far, and if we can keep it to a minimal, we are hoping to avoid those surgeries even if the bones don’t readjust as he grows.
-
Many Vibes to Jane Keith and Sherlock~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Jane, vibes to you, to Keith, and to poor Sherlock. How do you make a puppy understand why he has to go through all of this?
-
As you can imagine I shed a good number of tears after we left the doctor’s office. At least he let us take Sherlock to the hotel with us for the night and return him early the next day.
First there was the CT, once out of that we rushed over to discuss the results with the doctor where we received better news than the x-rays showed. Then they shaved the heck out of Sherlock and did the arthroscopic surgery on both shoulders & elbows, and removed a growth on his ear.
In two weeks his stitches will be removed. Before then we hope to return to the limited exercise he was having before surgery. And pray after our next visit we will have better news.
That’s all for now-I’m exhausted.

So, can you tell us about the callback. Did you have to strip? What character were you up for? Do you know who the other guy was? ......... We want details, man, details!
Didn't have to strip -- sorry boys!
I was up for the character or Ethan -- basically, they had us come in and first sing the opening portion of "Let It Go," then we waited a while, came back in and read Ethan's first scene, then wait more -- then they had all of the guys auditioning for every role come in to dance. They did a long combo from "Michael Jordan's Ball" -- very basketall-y which then jumps right into a bit of the "strip" from "Let It Go." Once we all did that, they let everyone go except the Harolds, the Ethans, and the Malcoms. Harolds just had to "cha-cha-cha" with the choreographer (that's what she said), then the other Ethan and I had to sing alone the duet portion of "You Walk With Me."
-
Didn't have to strip -- sorry boys!
Well, there you have it -- that's the problem -- boy, are they gonna realize their mistake when Other Ethan takes his hat off and they discover his third nipple, sixth toe, and saggy behind...
...their loss.... ;)

Ain't it the truth, DR MISS KAREN.

DR George started a fad!
Actually, I think I was the second to change my avatar. I can't remember who changed first (FJL maybe?), but I think it was just time for me to change it.

Thanks for the report DR JANE.... DR PENNYO gave us bulletins!!
-
Didn't have to strip -- sorry boys!
Oh Hell, Cason, unless there was a bootleg video of the auditions available for sale, it wouldn't mean a thing to any of us.
As an actor myself, I was more curious how the production would handle the need for actors to be comfortable being nude on stage. When I started acting onstage over 50 years ago, I remember that directors would always put off blocking the kissing scenes until just before the show was ready to open; presumably to allow actors a chance to get to know each other before having to become intimate with each other. The result was usually that the kissing scenes were usually the least convincing aspect of the production.
When I started directing plays, I moved the first kiss rehearsal up to the callbacks, if it was part of the show. After having a pair of actors (male and female) read a scene, I would then ask them to kiss each other. You can tell a lot about an actor's comfort level on stage by the way they react to being given that directiom If they balk at doing it at a callback, chances are they may balk in front of an audience.

TA DA....out of focus and scrunched up....actually that is exactly how I look!!
GREAT TAR tonight!!!
-
Hmmmm....nice lipstick
-
I got through the clothes tonight. It was actually much easier than I thought it would be. If I don't wear it or don't like it, it was gone. If it was stained or ripped, into the garbage. There are 5 garbage bags full of clothes to go to Goodwill over my lunch hour tomorrow. Whew! What a job.
-
SLINGS & ARROWS closed its third and final - I presume from the unfolding events - season rather sadly with many melancholic moments. It was quite a change from the happy festive conclusions to the first two seasons, but quite in character for this seasons storylines. The scenes involving KING LEAR were moving and weepy for me since my brothers, father and I have been living LEAR for the past 12 years, and it's my favorite Shakespeare play, perhaps the most moving document of the absurdities and futilities of human existence.
Tomorrow, I have a round with the IRS mess, then a final day of sound mixes. I have to be up early and so I'm off to bed.
G'night.

RE: tonight's GREASE.
SPOILERS.

*
I was actually really happy with the outcome. After seeing last week's show I truly thought that max and laura were the only choice. And i really thought they would both win, especially laura. I thought they had the best chemistry and i thought the judges praises would bode well.
Although after reading all the austin stuff today i wasn't so sure max would win.
It was bizarre to me. They announced the sandy winner much earlier than danny (like at the half hour). Maybe that contest was not as close. Maybe they thought more people would be interested in danny. Not sure.
Anyhow laura won over ashley. And then right at the end a stunned max won over austin. I really think these two will make a sweet pair.
It was bizarre though to see the other cast members (who seem much older). I'd be curious to read the list (since they did not give anyone's names).
-
Uh oh I can tell right now that I don't like seeing THAT face on so many posts in a row!!!
-
DR JENNIFER I think the stunned reaction of the Danny loser was more telling than that of the Danny winner.
-
Change your avatar dance.....everybody's doing it!
-
Ugh, can I buy half a ticket to Grease?
-
Ahhh, our local newcaster just said that another Washington State soldier was killed in Iraq, when his IUD exploded. Is there more than one meaning to IUD?
-
I have finished stripping the wallpaper in the bathroom..what a nightmare. I still have to scrub the walls, do a little patching and possibly some sanding before I paint, but having this step done is fabulous. And I raked out all the flower beds. Lots of leaves and sticks. 2 Big garbage cans full for curbside pick-up.
And CILLALIZ says she doesn't often get into a work frenzy! Sounds like she was pretty busy to me!
-
Ahhh, our local newcaster just said that another Washington State soldier was killed in Iraq, when his IUD exploded. Is there more than one meaning to IUD?
Yikes...funny what a little vowel switch can do...

I guess I really look like that, every picture I upload turns out the same way.
I am trying a new hosting service, so I may disappear.

You can have mine. ;D

George you look very nice.
JRand I see you also have a new avatar, a bit blurry but nice.
Cason, as always you and Heather look great together.
TCB-Sherlock is amazingly good for an adult dog, let alone a puppy. He reminds me of Bogie, just a big sweet guy.

So, Jane, do you and Keith have to take turns sleeping to keep up your Sherlock-watch? He's a very lucky puppy to have such caring people looking after him.

I'm waiting for a call from the tv auction. I put in a last minute bid on the "Weather Person for a Day" but the anchor said that someone called asking about an age limit and asked them to stay on the line, so I don't know if they were there to out bid me at the last second or not. The winner gets trained at the station and actually does the noon weather forecast and gets a tape of it to keep. I think it sounds like a blast!
-
Ginny-Keith doesn’t sleep so I might as well. We originally expected to be sleeping on the floor with him. I’m happy to report Sherlock is still permitted to sleep on the bed with us. We are leaving his collar with his tags on at night so we can hear if he moves, scratches or bites anything he shouldn’t.
He really is very mobile, making it more difficult to keep him from jumping. He has loads of chew toys to help keep him distracted and almost constant attention from us, or mostly Keith.
Tomorrow I will try & post a photo with his new hair cut.
-
It took about 30 minutes for them to call me and say I won the bookshelf, so we'll see.
-
Back from what turned out to be a long, involved day. I did lunch, and I did see Shooter, and I did get stuck in horrendous, stupid, vile traffic in Hollywood because, yes, they were doing one of their endless "premieres" at the Chinese and therefore closed off all the streets - no prob IF THEY'D ACTUALLY PUT UP SOME FRIGGIN' SIGNS TO ALERT PEOPLE SO THEY DON'T ALL DRIVE INTO HOLLYWOOD AND THEN INTO A BUNCH OF DEAD END BLOCKED OFF STREETS! I was so angry that I screamed at a security person (from the security of my car, of course) and yelled at a parking cop who was ticketing parked cars.
I've slogged through eight pages of posts, and shall now actually try to write a couple of pages.
-
story of my life, DR JANE. Thanks!
;D
-
Cason I’m sorry you didn’t get the part & hope it just means something better will come your way instead.
-
...Tomorrow I will try & post a photo with his new hair cut.
Even Sherlock will have a new avatar!
-
Thank you again for all the vibes, hugs & good wishes. I’m very sorry I’m not thanking you each personally.
I hope I haven’t missed important news the last few days, & just in case good thoughts to those who need them, heck-to everyone.
‘night.

Can't stay awake any longer and I have to be well-rested for my day of guest-lecturing tomorrow at The University of Dayton.
'night!

Well, look at DR JRand's smiling mug -- aren't all these HHWers a good-looking bunch -- the pressure's on DR Naomi and DR der Brucer for their make-overs!
-
Well, it's been 37 minutes and no call. It really wasn't fair, they let the other person stay on the line. I rebid with 1 1/2 minutes left but they wouldn't let me keep holding. Oh well, it saved me some money. I've always wanted to be a weather person....
-
Last night I celebrated Thanksgiving (2006) with my friends up north of Tacoma. They were on vacation in New Zealand last November. After a great turkey dinner, with all the trimmings; we retired to the living room to watch CASINO ROYALE in High-Def.
I thought the film was wonderful. It was the best time I have had at a Bond film since the glory-days of GOLDFINGER AND THUNDERBALL. Mr. Craig makes a thoroughly entertaining James Bond, and is certainly easier on the eyes than Roger Moore or Timothy Dalton.
-
...can this site handle der Brucer's smiling mug? .................well, hummm.........sure, of course we can!....Bring it on der Brucer!
-
Grease is creaking its way through the last hour....TAR is delayed....

Well, maybe, but having been in a similar sitiuation, let me tell you that it takes THREE to wreck a home, not one.

And if truth be told....shouldn't Austin be called Homewrecker Danny?
???

Ugh...sorry about the weather bid, DR CILLA LIZ....you will have to find your fame elsewhere.
-
It's a sad story, DR LAURA. But it IS gossip. If we have not been informed by a reliable EAST COAST source tomorrow, I will tell you ALL I know about the situation.
Shocking!
-
I began my evening with the Sherlock Holmes movie TERROR BY NIGHT. It's always been one of my favorites, and I always enjoy it even though I know every twist, turn, and quip in the plot.
-
TA DA....out of focus and scrunched up....actually that is exactly how I look!!
Love the new look!
-
Ugh...sorry about the weather bid, DR CILLA LIZ....you will have to find your fame elsewhere.
Ah, it's ok, I ran up the bid and if they wanted to pay that muchm then they should get it. I got a nice bookshelf for what would be half price. It's something I can use, so I am still very happy.
-
As for GREASE, let me just say that AMerica has gotten the Danny it wanted, and more power to him and the show. I think it was the wrong choice, but I was obviously in the minority and so be it.
Laura will make a charming Sandy.
And I actually enjoyed the show. The numbers were fun, they built up tension reliably and I liked the idea of the Broadway billboards in Times Square announcing the winners. Interesting to see who had been picked for some of the other principals. So, I actually thought the often poorly and always haphazardly produced series ended on a high note.
-
ROME had a lovely, sentimental, and wonderfully entertaining series finale as Octavian was proclaimed First Citizen. Vorenus had a nice reunion with his daughter, and Pullo was reunited with his son. A beautifully produced series that I will greatly miss, even if it played fast and loose with some of the history of the time as we know it.
-
COLD CASE had a good mystery tonight, a six year old boy found dead at a construction site, the victim of a pedophile. I had no clue who the murderer actually was, and the resolution was qutie surprising but completely believable.
-
I'm trying to watch The Curse Of The Golden Flower but after twenty-five minutes I'll be darned if I know what the HELL it's about.
-
Because of the NCAA runover, I'll have to watch WITHOUT A TRACE tomorrow. I'm sure I'll want to get to another WILD WILD WEST episode as well.
-
So, how did they fill up the whole hour on Grease? I didn't turn the tv on at all tonight.
-
George, Tacoma Musical Playhouse is doing THE FULL MONTY in May.
Ahh...now I remember. You told me that before. ::)
-
I think it's a great avatar, DR JRand, but we need DR TD to get its aspect ratio corrected.
-
Cason, as always you and Heather look great together.
Well, it's kind of hard to look bad next to her. :D
-
Cason I’m sorry you didn’t get the part & hope it just means something better will come your way instead.
Agreed -- I have no doubt something is on its way; I'll just be darned to know what it is...but thank you, DR Jane!
-
So, how did they fill up the whole hour on Grease? I didn't turn the tv on at all tonight.
They brought back all the Danny and Sandy candidates after GREASE Academy and did two numbers. The four finalists did two numbers concurrently with them switching partners during the middle of the number. Very effective.
They traced each of the four finalist's journeys from the audition round to the end.
They briefly interviewed relatives of each finalists who were in the studio.
-
Thanks, MattH.
-
Cason, did you post that you did not get the part of Ethan? I missed that.
-
I have a feeling something is coming up for Cason.
-
Cason, did you post that you did not get the part of Ethan? I missed that.
Well, I am just assuming that since I have not heard from them at this point, that the chances are pretty slim that the call will come in tomorrow. I'm going to do a follow-up call to them tomorrow, just to make sure - but I am not holding my breath.
Oh well -- onwards and upwards! :D
-
I have a feeling something is coming up for Cason.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

Well, I am just assuming that since I have not heard from them at this point, that the chances are pretty slim that the call will come in tomorrow.
Rats!
-
Heading down now to go to bed.
Good night!
-
Wrote a page and a half. I'll probably have to smooth it all out tomorrow, but I'll try to at least do another page tonight.
-
I watched the last 5 minutes of grease and was glad for the two winners and the glad for the rest of th cast. Some of the casting choices seem odd already, but I suppose it will all make sense in the show. It is the longest I have ever sat and watched the show.
-
I think the casting in the movie was about as perfect as it can get. But thats just me.
-

Did you do a thank you call or e-mail immediatly after?

Can we please get more details on the homewrecker story?

That was Toby and Dylan asking. I don't believe in repeating idle gossip. :)

Are we there yet?

The West Coast has officially received the announcement that Max and Laura are Danny and Sandy. They also brought on the "Broadway Cast" and they all look a lot older than high school age. :-\
-
The show is officially being renamed ANCIENT GREASE
-
I'm still overtired and cannot motivate myself to do anything right now.
-
Max (who comes from Phoenix) and Laura are too old for high school, too.
-
Then help us get to post #500
-
That turned out to be a non-sequitir
-
Take out your upper teeth and boil 'em
'Cause you have memories of OLD Rydell
-
What's that playing on the radio
Why do i start rocking to and fro
I have never heard that song before
That's 'cause I can't hear things any more
While the sound keeps humming
While my gums keep gumming
Beatings of my EKG
Drown out the clicking in my knee
-
More highlights from ANCIENT GREASE after this break
-
Max (who comes from Phoenix) and Laura are too old for high school, too.
True, but they don't look as old as the other actors...at least, to me.
-
I got pills they're mutiplying
I keep losing contro-o-ol
And the walkers they're supplying
They're electrifying
-
Grease is the word
Is the word that you heard
It's got fat, it's got sulfates
Grease is the thing that makes arteries harden
Grease is what got us our dull fates
This is a life disillusioned
Stuck in Miami
What are we doing here?
-
Will we never get to page eighteen? I feel like I'm on Paxil and Xanax right now.
-
I wrote two more words. I think I'll call it a day for the writing, unless I get a second wind around ten.
-
Jose, could you possibly be hired for a computer emergency in midtown on your day off tomorrow?
-
Wow, so many new HHW avatars! What fine looking faces1
-
HAHAHAHAAH those grease lyrics are the laugh hi-light of my day!!
-
Good Evening!
Just to get this out of the way now...
I just watched "Grease:YTOTIW" courtesy of the DVR. I'm happy with the results, but I'm not happy with how they introduced their new cast mates. They should have been introduced by their real names. But since America did not pick them, I'm guessing the producers didn't think America would care to hear their real names. But I have a feeling their friends and family would have liked to hear their names announced. -I know I would have loved to hear Jenny Powers name - she'll be playing Rizzo.
-
Jose, could you possibly be hired for a computer emergency in midtown on your day off tomorrow?
Sure. I have to drop by Binder's office tomorrow afternoon, and they're right on 44th, so I'll be close by. Probably around 2:00.
-
Look at us in Ancient Grease
Have you seen a cast so meese
Now that we've sung
Max and Laura look young
'Cause we're in Ancient Grease
Truth be told, we're not that old
Put that call from AARP on hold
Once we're onstage, we'll look half of our age
We're really not so old
-
Stopped by BIG LOTS today and they had a whole slew of foreign film DVDs for just $2.
I bought the Indian (read: Bollywood) action film MISSION: KASHMIRE and the Iranian comedy SECRET BALLOT.
They had many other French, Japanese, Spanish, and English films.
-
HAHAHAHAAH those grease lyrics are the laugh hi-light of my day!!
No kidding! FJL wins for the day, if not the week!
-
...And since Max won, Austin will not be playing Doody. He's just not a Doody. Now, if Austin had won, well... -You get the picture.
-
Did you do a thank you call or e-mail immediatly after?
Well, I have to say I didn't -- but it's a good thing to keep in mind for the future -- and I'll still use it for my call tomorrow. :)
-
Oh Austin, you've had more Doody experience than anyone in this room.
(Just kidding, I adore Austin. I think he's going to be major!)
-
That was Toby and Dylan asking. I don't believe in repeating idle gossip. :)
Who's repeating, you just wanted to hear it for the first time!
-
Thanks, Jose. He'll see you tomorrow.

Thanks, Adriana and Cason. I'm here all week! (except when I'm at the tax office, that is).

I am trying to review for my math test, but I am tempted to give up...

I think the second pic is very striking.
I agree. It would make a great avatar.
-
As for Matthew Bourne's Edward Scissorhands...
I found it enchanting and entertaining. It's been years since I've seen the movie, but the storytelling was so well done, I have a feeling even a "newbie" would be able to follow the plot very easily.
The choreography and dancing contained just the right amounts of beauty and athleticism. And humor. And the costumes and set pieces were also well done without pulling focus from the dancers.
I also liked how Danny Elfman's themes from the movie were incorporated into the score for the ballet by the composer - whose name is in the program I'm a bit too lazy to retrieve right now. ;)
-
We would love to see you here in the city of stars ( not that you can see the stars with all the fog.)
BTW I still have not found out what the sceening today was...

Did the first few rows get real snow from above at the end?

Yes, we got delightful soap flakes posing as snow. Jose got hardly a sprinkle, but I got a dumpload of soap/snow on me, as Jose can attest.

If they tried that with Wagner, would it be a soap opera?
-
It was evaporating soap, i think.
-
Did the first few rows get real snow from above at the end?
der Brucer
Define "real"? ;)
But, yes, snow did fall on my head - and on DR FJL's too.
POSSIBLE SPOILER
They used soap bubbles for the snow at the end. Well, something very sudsy at least. And quick drying.
-
Okay, I have a Grease question...is it just me or is this really lame show/poster art?? I really hope that this is temporary and they get something more...better:

*And I have to say one of my favorite scenes was the pool party. Give me male ballet dancers with 4% body fat in board shorts and square cut swim suits anytime!

DR Cason - Again, you could still receive a call - either way. Usually, if the people behind the table tell you at the audition that it's between you and someone else, and they will need an extra day to make their decision, that can be an indication that they will call either way.
Do you happen to know if the male ensemble slots were already cast? Do they hire understudies?
-Oh, is this an Equity house? Are you an AEA member?
In any case... One other factor in your favor in regards to getting a call is the weekend. I've worked with many casting associates who don't like to make calls right before the weekend... I mean, who wants to work on a Friday? ;)
-
Re GREASE - Did Kathleen actually say, as was reported, that she ideally would have wanted to cast Juliana and Derek?

They had 4 guys there auditioning for "ensemble" - but I had noted on my audition sheet I'd take anything.
It is an Equity/non-Equity show. I don't know if the other guy is Equity, which may have given him an edge...

As for the ages of the Grease castmates, they're all around the same age as Max and Laura. I have to say the outfits they put them in, as well as their makeup and hair made all of them look a bit frumpy.

I have done work on a fansite for the Chieftains. They are my favorite group. Oddly with my hearing loss I have the easiest time listening to Acoustic type music including traditional, broadway and cabaret standards and classical.
-
I am going into my second wind also. Working on a story that I ahve been working off and on for years. Finally got some research done on something that is affecting a character in my story.

Amen to that...I was most definitely a TMNT fan. I had the videogames, the clothing, the toys...
you still have the toys -- boxed away -- maybe you can sell them (and all those dang leggos) on e-bay and make your forture since they're vintage (although I guess something from the '90s isn't really considered vintage yet)...
-
Karen, Adriana also liked the second picture that derBrucer posted. I really like that one. It is a very nice photo of him.

Umm... I thought I was the one responsible for those break-ups?

the first one's not bad either -- looks like some adventure guy who just climbed to the top of Mt. Everest -- and the third one wouldn't have been too bad either, except he looks a bit grumpy (by not smiling --maybe he was hungry, poor thing)...
