I'm a bit hesitant to bring this up on this board, but....

My wife and I saw WICKED last night.

Overall, we thought it was a terrific show; enjoyed it very much.

However, are we the only people who think that the book has some major problems, particularly in the second act?

No, you aren't. But....they had to get an awful lot done...and the show was initially much longer than it currently is. When it did its pre-Broadway run at San Francisco's Curran Theater, performances sometimes went to 4 hours before the cuts started. The first time I saw it, it clocked in at about 3 hours and 37 minutes or so...and it was just under 3 1/2 hours on my last viewing on its next-to-last performance.

Despite that, SO VERY MUCH happens in that second act that you forgive its shortcomings.

When I was younger, I always thought Jon Voight would be the best actor to play me.

Now that I'm older, Voight still looks like the right guy (especially when I'm just out of bed in the a.m.).

I guess I fell back asleep around six, and just woke up, so I ended up with six hours of sleep, although it sure doesn't feel like it. And now I must hurry and shower and be on my way to tape transfer guy.
