My most rewarding role? Well, I adored doing Smudge in FOREVER PLAID. It was SO gratifying to do that show every night hearing all the laughter, the applause, and the audience clearly falling in love with us. I truly think FOREVER PLAID has that effect on an audience.
Georges in LA CAGE AUX FOLLES is the first time I felt the show rested on my shoulders. Yes, Albin is the more flamboyant and outrageous part, but Georges rarely leaves the stage (almost never in the second act) and has to hold court while Albin changes into those many gowns. He also has to go straight from book scenes to cabaret scenes without stopping for breath, and I found that the greatest challenge, but also the most satisfying when the show came to an end. I wasn't given the last bow in LA CAGE; Albin was, but I truly felt the Georges role is the bedrock of the show.
So, I guess the answer is I have two "most rewarding" roles.
