TOD:

Best B&T Performances:
VIRGINIA WOOLF
TAMING OF THE SHREW
HERE'S LUCY

I am one of those people who happen to like CLEOPATRA (though I tend to like the first half with Rex Harrison more than the second.)

Good morning and goodnight.

Burton's most recent "film":  Jeff Wayne's  production of H G Wells' "War Of The Worlds' .

Some of the accents in THE HISTORY BOYS were a bit hard to understand, I know I missed some dialog.  Frances de la Tour and all of the rest of the cast are fantastic.

I could have sworn that MY WORLD AND WELCOME TO IT was released on DVD during the past few months or so, but I guess I imagined it.  I remember enjoying it a lot.

There is a lot of rehearsal and backstage footage from HERE'S LUCY on the HL boxed DVD set that was released a few years ago.

It is very interesting to hear Lucy tell Burton how to read a line and where to stand.

Jack, that's why they invented Closed Captioning. It's not just for those with hearing issues  ;)

I sometimes turn on the captioning when watching Grey Gardens.  It helps when Little Edie is whispering.

Well, it appears that someone has stolen my idea and went to the trouble of actually writing a book called Broadway Babylon.

Well, it had better be good and trashy, that's all I'll say.

Well, with a cover picture featuring the sleaze king Alan Cumming, he's halfway there.

I use closed captioning many times when I'm watching a British film or television show. I also use it when I'm watching something while riding the exercise bike.

I remember watching DANCE WITH A STRANGER with Miranda Richardson and not being able to understand a single word she spoke.

I am most relieved that I don't have leave tonight to get to the airport early in the morning.  I like to pack the night before I go somewhere and this last minute go a day early stuff throws me off to no end.  So, I'm glad I have a later flight

Well it says "never before told" stories.....so hopefully it won't be a conpendium of the familiar like SECOND ACT TROUBLE turned out to be.

I think I'm going to sneak out and go to Staples to get the forms to make my own business cards.  I have some on order, but it just occurred to me it's really stupid to go to this conference and not have cards to hand out.    I'll just put "Opening in July" or something on them so everyone knows they are temporary cards and not my real ones.

I have my mute set so that when I mute the closed captioning comes on. That way if the phone rings I can read what's going on and know if I want to call the person back or just ignore the TV

I've never been a huge fan of Elizabeth Taylor's acting, lovely though she may be...Fav Burton's would be BECKET, HAMLET, VIRGINIA WOOLF.

Worst for the pair is HAMMERSMITH IS OUT.  Though it's great fun hearing Burton honk:  "Let me out.  I'll make you rich and strong.  Strong and rich."
