Afterwards we went to a party for our local film critic who was also honored. She used to be married to a friend of mine who died suddenly of a brain tumor a few years ago. I had never been to their house but he had designed it for her, with a 24 seat screening room in the basement, and just a gorgeous house on one of the nicest streets in Atlanta. (When I knew him, he lived in a dumpy ranch house, so I was quite surprised!)
We only went to this party because we wanted to meet up with the president of WIF and her sister and our friend John, who edits for James Ivory. But they never were able to find the house and then John got a call to meet with his producer so here we were at this party that we weren't even officially invited to.
I did bring Eleanor a copy of S&V, just in case she feels moved to review it for the paper.
And now, to sleep!
