I think DRVIXMOM has stumbled across the most unusual thing I have EVER seen on EBAY.  I am not even looking anymore today.

The Laminated Fly - perhaps DR CP could write a second sequel to his hit movie.

Paul Giammatti...deserved a nom for "Sideways", but I wasn't all that impressed with his role in "Cinderella Man."  He was good...it was good part...but not any better than many parts that went unmentioned/unnominated.  The actor who played the evil senator in "Revenge of the Sith" was far more worthy, IMO.

As is so often the case with the Oscars, I have a feeling this was a compensation/consolation nomination for failing to nominate him the year before. And he'll probably win it, too. He was simply sensational in SIDEWAYS.

Yes, I think Joshua Logan was a dull, unimaginative film director, but I thinik SOUTH PACIFIC would have been immensely more interesting if Doris Day had been given the role of Nellie Forbush (and if those god awful filters had never been used).

I'm surprised she wasn't locked up for terminal stupidity.

I bet if she allowed her son to take a baggie of pot to school, she would be locked up!

I decided I'd save the CSI episode for tonight when most of the TV schedule is going to be preempted for The State of the Union address.

So, I watched last Sunday's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. It was a rerun I had seen before, but still quite entertaining.

The first time I taught a graduate library science course, one of the students wrote on the evaluation form that I used DRACONIAN grading criteria.  He had no idea.

Darn!  I've been locked up in meetings all afternoon and haven't had a chance to find anything really interesting on eBay except this ad.

To see the real weird part of this ad, go to the larger image and read the copy under Have a figure analysis--free!

I wonder how many 1930s housewives fell for this one!

...When we updated to  Windows XP, we lost all our favorite places, email, pictures, everything.

I suspect they were not really lost (just misplaced :( - favorite places, Email, pictures, etc. are stored in their own files on your computers hard drive. Installing a new operating system generally does not destroy them - but you often lose the links to the files. For exam[;e, if you are an AOL user, after you install Windows XP you need to reinstall AOL. You then need to know how to find and move your old AOL files that have your Email, Address Book, Favorite, places, etc from the ols AOL location to the new one.

This things are done deliberatly to make the average user look like an idiot while elevating Techo-nerds to near Godhood status.

Amen!

However - on the A/E Biography of Mitzi Gaynor (they have reached the bottom of the barrel, apparently) they showed some clips of her screen test - and she was MUCH BETTER there than she was in the film.  And Richard Rodgers who approved and championed her certainly knew how to spot talent.  Gaynor said that her ENTIRE performance was re-recorded and that Joshua Logan stood in the booth with her and would not let her give ANY line readings except ones that he gave her.  So I guess what we are seeing and hearing is Joshua Logan as Nellie Forbush.

However, no explanation was given by Mitzi for her same wooden and BAD performances in THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS and ANYTHING GOES.  ::)

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from Fairfax, VA!

-It was a very easy drive back, and after some rain along the New Jersey Turnpike, the sun started to come out when I hit the Delaware Memorial Bridge making for a very nice second half of the trip back to the DC area.

And now...

And now...

I need I need to get ready to head in to the theatre.  Today is the last day for our Company Manager, Jill.  She's been with Arena for about four or five years at this point, and she will be sorely missed.  -She's moving on to the O'Neill Theatre Center.  In any case, there's a "Beer and Brats" party - she's originally from Wisconsin - starting at 5:00, and I at least want to make it there in time for a Goodbye Hug.  So...

Laters...

*Hope everyone is doing well today.  Vibes to those who need them.

**And I would have posted from NYC this morning, but had trouble accessing the site.  Just FYI - ::)

Well, I like her in SHOW BUSINESS (not much of a part really), but no one involved emerged with any kudos after the abysmal ANYTHING GOES. That HAS to rank as one of the worst movie musicals with top talent ever made.

Most of her clothes in SHOW BUSINESS are ridiculous - not her fault, of course - but her "acting" just grates on me....  :P
