Rodzinski's Back yard.
TOTD. I have nothing to contribute!
Not a celebrated event in Australia.
I will be visiting a grave on All Souls Day.
And the word of the day is: INCHOATE!Casey would waltz
Favorite Halloween adventure: Greg and I worked on a documentary in Oaxaca immediately after a small earthquake. We shot in cemeteries during "Day of the Dead" and had lots of Mexican families make us welcome in their homes. A beautiful time to be in Mexico. You "had lots of Mexican families make us welcome in their homes"? How brutal! How forceful! I'm certain, had you simply asked, they would have done so without coersion! (Of course, there's always that awkward language barrier thing. Not to be confused with an awkward language barrio thing, which is quite different.)
Wow, I got my Astaire-Rogers set over a week ago, and I don't think I was very far up the list. ;D
Did you get the one with empty slim cases for the films in the first set? That's the one they said they were out of, but then, it might have been the distribution center for the east coast that was out rather than the west coast one.
Looking forward to BRAIN!!! I may actually have time between Finals to be Elmore's assistant!
Maybe this has already been noted, but DakotaCelt is really closing in on post #5000.
My current avatar was my costume from last year (I think). I was a tourist! ;)
You will note that I still have the same haircut.
The shiney face must be a sign of ageing? :-*
Beekers and test tubes were on my WANT WANT list when I was growing up...alas they were beyond my reach.
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the beach!
You will note that I still have the same haircut.
..a broomstick, some wire hangers for the shoulders and hips...
...that I'm a sucker for anything involving a cape...

You were a wise mensch to take a day yesterday, and shun the outside technology and intrusion of the world!
I was the "staggering deficit."
When I was at the Animal Murderer's Warehouse last month, I saw some great togs for a costume if I wanted to dress up as the forest floor. Unfortunately it would have set me back over $100. Not worth it!
I'm not picking up what you're laying down, Woody.
Huh? ???
“Do you not think,” said the lady to Martin, still clasping her child to her bosom and making it clear from what motives she desired the refuge, “that Dame Glendinning will make us welcome?”
How about wearing a "Bush Budget" top hat and a skirt of acoustic tiles and go as "National Debt Ceiling"
der Brucer
Probably better that than a "Glass Ceiling".... :o
It was great seeing Brian Kerwin with Laurie Metcalf on "Desperate Housewives" last night.
They worked well together on "Roseanne," so it's interesting to see them these many years later as a married couple, even if their situation is going to be dire.
All the better to stow thrones...
Does anyone know whether the BARBER OF SEVILLE which Bartlett Sher (the director of LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA) is directing at the Met is set to be televised? I've been googling and can't find any info on this.
... I couldn't help but think about the "One Halloween" song from APPLAUSE. I'll try to find the lyric online - very haunting.
Remember that Halloween when you were nine? You probably don't, and I know I sure can't. But Eve Harrington did in the musical Applause, where she sang a Strouse-and-Adams song called "One Halloween" that told about what happened on that Halloween when she was nine. She dressed herself in a fairy queen costume -- only to have her father chide, "You look like a whore." So, Eve said, she washed her face, took off her dress, and threw it away. She also apparently started that night on the road to becoming a scary person worthy of the scariest Halloween.
Cage of Hell? DR derBRUCER - I think we've all been there at one time or another in our lives.
I now have a working nonregional DVD player that operates!
And surely a "DVD player that operates!" will bring you more pleasure with less pain than your surgeon did :D
der Brucer
Sorry, didn't mean to call your surely.
Elmore - thanks for the info.
There's apparently a BARBER OF SEVILLE video which they sell on the Met Opera site that features Florez, but I don't think it's the Bartlett Sher production.
But they're charging $205 per ticket to sit in row S (why do people complain about Bway prices but rarely complain about opera prices - or do they complain and I just haven't noticed?). So maybe I'll hold off and catch it in its spring engagement if a telecast doesn't happen.
Hence the record low number of postings! ;D
Larry, good point. I see Florez is not doing the April and May performances, and sure enough, much closer seats are available for the non-Florez performances, like row F center (non-Florez) for cheaper than the row S (Florez) tickets. Since my main interest in it is to see what Sher and Michael Yeargen do with the piece, maybe I'll go for the non-Florez dates????? A quandry.
Or am I missing something, and is row S considered a better seat than row F at the Met?
Glad you got the DVD player set up with no hassles, DR Elmore. I love new electronic toys, but they are always a pain in the butt ready to happen when one starts to install them.
On a different note, I did get my "Ultimate Collection" Astaire-Rogers set today, and it arrived by USPS truck, not the usual postal delivery. Perhaps yours is en route as I type.
DR Elmore will now at long last be able to watch Caroline O'Connor in "Mack & Mabel". (If the disc is to be found).
Larry has a DVD disc of about 15 minutes from the London performance.
DR Elmore, happy Region code 2 shopping...I know some wonderful Hong Kong musicals movies you can buy!

BTW, Edi, where did you find your avatar?
james_bennit13209 WELCOME! :D
Beekers and test tubes were on my WANT WANT list when I was growing up...alas they were beyond my reach.Your parents were wise to install tall tables in the house where you grew up.
The neighborhood I live in is known as one of the best places to trick-or-treat in the area. I don't know how we got our reputation, but we get HUNDREDS of visitors. My neighbors often dress in costume, but we never know who will dress as what until the actual night. Dracula is popular, as are witches. We now have a pirate couple, as well. And those are just the residents. There's usually a party down the street for said residents, with or without costumes. It's fun. Always lots of dogs in costume, too.
Dictionary.com defines "ganch" as: To drop from a high place upon sharp stakes or hooks, as the Turks dropped malefactors, by way of punishment.
I don't know how he's going to dress up as that.

Dogs in costume? Sounds like some parties I have attended.
I wore that back when I was skinny and sexy.
I said, "What?"
He said, "Ganch."
I said, "What's ganch?"
He said, "Ganch."
Okay...
HEROES had a gripping episode with the always welcome Hiro and some interesting developments with the Claire storyline. And even Niki was more interesting tonight than usual.
But I REALLY missed Adrian Pasdar (the flying man) and Greg Grunberg (the telepathy cop) this week. Glad to see them in the previews.
