Good morning, all!  I spent the evening at my friend Alan's house; his wife is in Italy while her mother goes through a hip replacement, his daughters were off to a preview of PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN and we ate pizza, watched tv, talked about his travels and my travails.

I believe I will breakfast with my Dad, run whatever errands he would like to do and work on the last number from BABES IN TOYLAND I have here.  Tonight, my brother, father and lady friend are joining my sister-in-law in Indiana for a weekend of fishing.  I'm thionking about driving over tomorrow morning to spend the day, but I need to confer with DR Ginny about our movie date.

My dad just called.  I'll will return!

DR George, excellent vibes are sent your way!!!! Break a leg.

Hmmmm.....

VCR:  THE MIRACLE with Carroll Baker as a nun who leaves the convent for Roger Moore - wearing one of the riding jackets from AUNTIE MAME disguised as an English calvary officer jacket....and one of her corsets, too, if Miss Baker is to be believed, and why shouldn't she?

DVD:  LIL ABNER, a $5 purchase from WalMart.

CD:  Son of the Pink Panther music by Henry Mancini.  I am using this music in DEATH BY CHOCOLATE and it actually works rather well.

Lovely photos....are you wearing a bow tie or a necktie?  If it's a bowtie, that MIGHT be a tuxedo!

Both of you certainly look spiffy!  And I sure do remember the girls in my high school wearing their hair JUST LIKE Jeanne is wearing hers.

DR MBARNUM recommended the TWIST to me about three years ago, I ordered it and second MR BK's comments.  It's a blast!

Well, all progress of the evening in Cat land was wiped out this morning.  The vet said to try Fel-Away  it's some phermone thing that's supposed to make every cat believe that the scent on the furniture etc is their onw and they own the world.  I guess it's worth a try. She said if it doesn't work in 3 weeks that it isn't going to work....

Every time I hear or read the name Gunther, I think of the original cast recording to Das Barbecü and the way J. K. Simmons (I think) pronounced it "Goonther." ;D

That name makes me think of CAR 54, WHERE ARE YOU?

Friday morning greetings!  It's casual day here at DML, to promote our summer reading clubs.  I'm wearing my "READING Educates the World" t-shirt, on which the letters in READING are made up of the flags of various countries.  It's an all information-waitressing day for me.

CAR 54 and GRINDL.....NBC was pretty much coasting on Sunday nights depending on BONANZA to bring up the ratings....  Why put on something GOOD opposite ED SULLIVAN, right?  ???

media ckech

iPod:  Patsy Cline--Showcase--just another compilation within nothing new, but it's Patsy Cline so no complaints here.

Tivo:  FIFTH OF JULY, which I recorded the other night from the VHS tape I purchased from Broadway Archive a few years back.  Also, the silent WIZARD OF OZes that were broadcast on TCM earlier this week.

DVD:  NIGHT WATCH, which looks like a very weird Russian horror film.

I wonder if there's ever been two other shows similarly scheduled that caused as much channel flipping as these two?

I just marvel at that.  I have/had no memory of that prom, but the photo does sort of jog something in the nether regions of the windmills of my mind.

That photo will jog the nether regions of any PETA member's anger-center! Watch out for cyber blood spattering.

I read the other day that BMG is now promising the release of the '73 CANDIDE and the '76 MY FAIR LADY revival recordings in August.  But then, they never did release the Sondheim shows they promised last year.

Dan the Man I will be curious of your opinion of the silent Wizard Of Oz films...I just watched the 1910 version the other night and loved it! The 1925 version I have on DVD and it is OK...just OK, IMHOP.

Good morning!

The gods of cool have smiled upon us and blessed us with spring-like temperatures. Won't last, of course, but it's still in the 60s this morning, and the highs are only to be in the low 80s with low humidity, so thank you, lords on high!

I loved GRINDL and was very unhappy when it didn't last beyong its initial season. Always adored Imogene Coca.

Yes, THE TWIST was a fun documentary...I am fond of that dance and of watching people Twist...BK, you must now watch TWIST AROUND THE CLOCK and DON'T KNOCK THE TWIST, both of which I can happily make DVD copies of for you if you like.

I noticed the DVR this morning recording A DATE WITH JUDY off TCM. A few weeks ago, I dragged out the laserdisc, and it was a very soft, lackluster transfer. If you remember the vivacious color from the excerpt in THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT (especially how incredibly beautiful Elizabeth Taylor looked), you will know why I'm recording this movie today and hoping it's a much better print used for broadcast.

Das Barbecü to "The Closer" - quite a journey!
