Back from class and a quick salad.  Neither of my overdue packages arrived today.  Damn them, damn them all to hell.

Class was fascinating.  Several people addressed last week's notes and the difference was amazing, and very impressive.  Others still think they can just "get by" and it's becoming quite obvious to the class, which is good.  One of the duets today that we didn't do last week was For Good from Wicked - they did it fine, I gave some notes, and then they did it again at the end of class, and it was very touching to watch.

Customer: No. I can't get behind the computer

Tech support: Pick up your keyboard and walk 10 paces back.

Customer: OK

Tech support: Did the keyboard come with you?

Customer: Yes

Tech support: That means the keyboard is not plugged in. Is there another keyboard?

Customer: Yes, there's another one here. Ah...that one does work

I heard several people (women) using songs from WICKED at the A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC auditions a couple of weeks ago. (BTW, I didn't get in the show for those who were wondering.)

A woman customer called the Canon help desk with a problem with her printer.

Tech support: Are you running it under windows?

Customer: "No, my desk is next to the door, but that is a good point. The man sitting in the cubicle next to me is under a window, and his printer is working fine."

===============

And last but not least:....

Tech support: "Okay Bob, let's press the control and escape keys at the same time. That brings up a task list in the middle of the screen. Now type the letter "P" to bring up the Program Manager."

Customer: I don't have a P

Tech support: On your keyboard, Bob.

Customer: What do you mean?

Tech support: "P".....on your keyboard, Bob.

Customer: I'M NOT GOING TO DO THAT!!

I may have missed this if anyone else here posted it, but did you know?

On Wednesday of this week, at two minutes and three seconds after 1:00 in the morning, the time and date will be:

01:02:03 04/05/06

That won't ever happen again ever.    ( At least not until 2106 )

Actually, it'll happen next month...if you live in Europe.  They write dates in this order:  day, month, year; so May 29th (to make it easier) is written 29/05/06.  May 4th would be 04/05/06. ;D

[sigh] VARIETY's website must be down. I keep getting the busy or broken server error message, and it's been that way for over an hour.

Iactually was wondering about that just last night, but then I figured you woud have posted  about starting rehearsals if you had.

Do you ever volunteer for "tech" positions when you don't get in a show?

There's a question for ask anybody a question day...

How many people here have only ever been on stage and how many  behind stage and how many both?  (And how many "audience only" members do we have?)

Tuesday greetings!  It's a beautiful day here in SW Ohio, but not as warm as it looks.

I have now signed on the dotted line and made my promotion to Grants Specialist official.  What it means is that I will be doing more of what I really like to do and less general information waitressing.

Congratulations!! :D

Yes, I've run sound, spotlight, been part of the running crew (a very hard job on a huge show like ANNIE), and various other tech jobs. I've never stage managed, however.

However, I really don't have much interest in doing those kinds of jobs now. I prefer to perform, and if I don't get selected to be part of the cast, I can bide my time until something else comes along.

Currently it is open burn season in Southern Oregon.  I hate when my neighbors burn and I find breathing unpleasant.  I was pleased to read the following article “State asks cities to ban open burning”

I’m hesitant to go for a walk.  I’ve gone so little lately I really should get out.  Maybe I’ll go into town and see if I can breathe more easily there.

I've done both.  It's been a while since I acted in a show.  I've played Hero in Forum, Sancho Panza in Man of La Mancha seven different characters in Annie and Charlie Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown!  That was four years ago and the last one that I performed in.  I frequently work backstage for touring shows that come to Olympia, and the next one is next week:  Oklahoma!  That should be fun.

Quote from M Barnum yesterday:

Quote
You know the sad thing about that rather handsome Richard Hartunian (see photo posted above) is that he died the year after that photo was taken...but I can't seem to find out how or why. It is a mystery that I must find out.

Judging from that photo, my guess would be a furball.

I'd have been the child who'd ask how the cows potty if they don't have their rumps!

After my sister got through explaining to my young niece where eggs come from (as part of explaining the sources of different foods) my niece became wild-eyed and exclaimed, "You mean pigs poop pork chops?"

I just read HERE on Playbill.com that there's going to be a documentary on HBO about Rosie O'Donnell and her family cruise line for gay and lesbian families.  Would someone here who has HBO be kind enough to record (VHS/DVD?) THIS that's going to be broadcast on Thursday?  It's called "All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise."

The feature-length documentary was filmed aboard the Norwegian Dawn in summer 2004 during the first voyage of r family vacations, which caters to gay and lesbian families and their friends. The weeklong trip began in New York City, making stops in Florida and the Bahamas before returning to Manhattan.

If someone could record this for me, I'd be ever so appreciative! ;D

Proud Mother drumroll, please...
DD phoned from Budapest to say that she's been accepted in the Masters Program of the School of Journalism & Mass Communications at
San José State University.
Apparently it's rated one of the top 5 programs of its kind in the western United States. And it's a state university. Hallelujah! After her undergraduate years at the wonderful but private U. of San Francisco - which even with tons of scholarships and student loans was pretty expensive, let me tell you - this will be WONDERFUL for my thin wallet.

I also need to find a cheap flight to Roanoke, VA at some point in June to see Anthony in Beauty and the Beast.

Ben, there are a lot of airfare sales ending tomorrow, so you may want to shop for flights tonight

oK, TOD. I guess I've eaten some strange things. My neighborhood at the lake used to have a wild game feed to clean out the freezers before the next years hunting season. I've had bear, turtle, rabbit, and venison...there are more, not sure what.  Let's see menudo is pretty disgusting, I've had that, lutefisk, rattle snake, tongue, chocolate covered cricket, I know there's more...
