Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of piano concertos and movers, and now it is time for you to post until the pianistic cows come home.

So, have a good day, all!

I'm back.  The X-rays show arthritis in my hip and knee, same as before, and the MRI, as before, shows the crushed discs in my lower back.  However, the new analysis of my back is that one of the discs is causing all the pain issues, not thew arthritis.

so, on Dec. 8, at 10:30AM I am having a spinal epidural, which terrifies me.  We'll see if this helps.

I talked to a to a homeless man recently and asked him how he ended up this way

He said, "Up until last week, I still had it all.  I had plenty to eat, my clothes were washed and pressed, I had a roof over my head, I had HDTV and Internet, and I went to the gym, the pool, and the library.

"I was working on my MBA on-line.  I had no bills and no debt.  I even had full medical coverage."

I felt sorry for him, so I asked, "What happened?  Drugs?  Alcohol?  Divorce?"

"Oh no, nothing like that," he said.  "No, no... I was paroled.."

Here's the new Kritzerland release - it will also be in tomorrow's notes.

Kritzerland is proud to present an original cast album recording of a great 1950s British musical comedy:

EXPRESSO BONGO

Music by David Heneker and Monty Norman
Lyrics by Julian More, David Heneker, and Monty Norman

On April 23, 1958, Expresso Bongo burst on the London theatre scene.  A satire of the music industry, the show starred Paul Scofield, James Kenney, Millicent Martin, Meier Tzelniker, Hy Hazell, and Elizabeth Ashley.  The musical had a book by Wolf Mankowitz (A Kid for Two Farthings, The Day the Earth Caught Fire, Casino Royale) and Julian More (Irma la Douce), music by David Heneker (Half a Sixpence) and Monty Norman (the “James Bond Theme”), and lyrics by Julian More, David Heneker, and Monty Norman.  The pop singer in the show was loosely based on Tommy Steele.   It was a moderate hit but enough of one for director Val Guest to turn it into a film the following year, starring Laurence Harvey and pop singer Cliff Richard.

Divorced from its time and place, the score is really delightful, filled with snappy tunes, clever lyrics, and satirical over-the-top pop ballads of the era.  After the show’s run, it kind of just disappeared off the face of the earth, with only its cast album and film version keeping its memory alive.

The original cast album of Expresso Bongo was released in mono only by Nixa Records.  That was reissued in the United States many years later with an especially bad LP and then CD transfer.  For this new release, James Nelson has done a major remastering, bringing the original brashness and luster back to what was an excellent recording.  We’re also happy to include the Cliff Richard film songs, along with cover versions of two other songs from the show as bonus tracks.

Expresso Bongo is limited to 500 copies only and priced at $19.98, plus shipping.   CDs will ship by the third week of December, but never fear, we’ve actually been averaging three to five weeks early in terms of shipping ahead of the official ship date.  To place an order, see the cover, or hear audio samples, just visit www.kritzerland.com.

ATTENTION INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTORS:  IF YOU WISH TO RECEIVE THIS RELEASE YOU MUST OPT-IN BY SENDING US AN E-MAIL – SEND TO kritzerland@gmail.com.  IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO RECEIVE IT, YOU DON”T NEED TO DO ANYTHING.  IF YOU ARE NOT AN INDIEGOGO CONTRIBUTOR, ORDER AS YOU NORMALLY WOULD.  THANK YOU.

It wasn't me.

We too have received a good number of gifts from Amazon and had to guess who it came from.  I now know why it happens as I just sent a gift, not realizing I was sending it.  I had to go back in and change it from our address to the correct address.  I never saw the box to click it is a gift.

I let our friends know to expect it (baby gift for their upcoming grandchild).  Once it arrived they said there was not a name in it at all.

I had what was supposed to be a brief, 15-minute dental consultation today. It turned out to be 2 hours. No drilling, but lots of talk, x-rays, and more talk. I knew there was a problem. I've been having trouble with my gums ever since I was sick last spring. It looks like I'll be spending a LOT of time at the dentist over the coming months--and you all know that that means lots of moolah, too. I'll also be having my first root canal. I've done all I could to avoid that, but life happens. I like my dentist, so that helps.

I wonder if Neve would like that.  I have one-ounce packets of cream cheese that I've had for a while.  Since they're sealed, I would only need to open one at a time.

On a positive note.  Carrie from The Animal Project came by to check out my apartment before they turn Thatch over to me.  I liked her very much, Annabelle did as well, and I passed with flying colors.

That's great!

On a curious note, someone sent me an electrically heated cat bed from Amazon.  I suspect someone on HHW but I have no idea who since there was no invoice with a gift message.  So, whoever you may be, thank you.

That's so nice!

(It wasn't from me, either.)

DR John you are lucky you can work from home.

You are!  Some people (a Gypsy reference) at my work are allowed to work from home.  I'm not one of them.  The programs that I require to use can't be installed on non-staff terminals.  Eventually (supposedly), our internal library computer system is going to be web-based, and then I could, but not yet. :P

Annabelle has become quite good at communicating.  I now know when she wants to play fishie on a pole, and I will have to order another.  The poor fishie is starting to fall apart.  When she catches it, she holds it in her front paws and teeth while her back legs do their utmost to kill the poor thing.  It is her favorite game.

Sorry to hear that Brigadoon is sold out, DR elmore.   I got tickets a couple of weeks ago for Sunday night. All that was available at that time were balcony seats.

Well, I don't care much myself.  I trally was hoping several would be coming in to see it and we could all have dinner.

I took my first of a 3 day trial on the malaria meds I will have to take.  I hope it was simply that I didn't feel good this morning and not the pill that effected me.  Feeling nauseated before traveling when one is prone to motion sickness is not a good thing.

Tonight I will take half a Benadryl to clear up my allergies.  Maybe then I will be ok tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.

DR John you are lucky you can work from home.

I think they're lucky that I did work from home.

I just realized that I have not taken a sick day since I've been an employee, and I don't even know if I know how to mark one. On Dec. 3, I will have been at USAA as a full-time employee for five years.

Back from such a loooooong day.  Lugged six big boxes o' books over so I have those boxes now to pack the rest of the CDs - got the books on the shelves.  Had a haircut, picked up mail, and finally ate some eggs benedict at the House of Pies, then it was time for rehearsal.  We worked stuff for ninety minutes and then ran the show.  The run time was exactly what it's been - we had an actor leave for act two so the set changes for act two were quite messed up because he does most of them.  He's left early for the entire rehearsal period - I knew that would last two weeks, but it was NOT part of the bargain for this week and I told the powers that be that he cannot leave any more rehearsals and has to figure all that out.

One of the old actors is playing Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL this year.  He has done nothing but bitch and moan about everything to do with the production, since he was cast.  I keep wanting to tell him that if he really hates it, I would be happy to take over for him.
