Busy busy busy at the store yesterday, and the day before. It will no doubt be busy busy busy again today, and tomorrow as well.
We'll be closed on Christmas. It's the only day of the year we are closed.
Some people get ourtraged when they find out we are open on Thanksgiving. "You shouldn't be open, you should be with your families!" they snarl. "But what about those who don't have families to be with?" I ask. They open their mouths, then shut them again and stare at me, bug-eyed and quivering because I've mentioned a truth they don't like to confront.
I'll be working on New Year's Eve, and on New Year's Day as well, from what I've gandered at the schedule Dixie (my boss) was drawing up. Somehow, that's not the same thing as being there for the unfamilied on family holidays.
