Well, you've read the notes, the notes were wonderful and memorable, and now it is time for you to post until the wonderful and memorable cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: BELAUD!
-
Yay, congratulations!!!!
-
Good morning, all.
-
Up early so I can relax for a couple of hours before getting ready for a noon rehearsal.
-
The opening sounds like it was as magnificent as you could ever hope for.
-
BK: Was there ever any followup communication with the Levi Strauss people, and do you know if anyone was going to be attending?
-
Good morning, all!
-
I have a cold, Annabelle has a cold, and Thatch seems fine. He ate very well this morning, and last night he drank his tuna water alon with all of his regular water. Annabelle eats nothing, and her tuna water went untouched. The vet opens at 8:30 and I will see if there are any morning cancellations for today or tomorrow.
-
She stayed very close to me all night. Usually, she only crawls in with me when the temperature drops around 3:00 in the morning. She's sneezing, coughing, her mews sound an octave lower and I can hear a rattle in her breathing.
-
Thatch is a bundle of energy this morning, playing with his toys and trying to get Annabelle's attention. I hope he stays well.
-
And now to the good news: a successful, big opening night for LEVI! I am not surprised since I expected nothing less. It sounds wonderful, and I hope it results in good things for all involved.
-
This afternoon I will see Brigadoon, which I look forward to enormously.
-
Congrats to MR BK & Co on their glorious opening! I love the curtain call photo in the notes!
-
TOD:
The wonderful songs they wrote for Miss Annette Funicello!!!
-
TOD:
I didn't know who were the writers for "Tall Paul" or "Let's Get together" but I think those wwew the first Sherman Brothers songs I knew. Then came Mary Poppins and I never forgot their names again.
-
TOD: I think it was the Mary Poppins Marni Nixon cover album that really made me aware of the Sherman Brothers.
-
Good morning.
-
TOD
The first movie in which I enjoyed their songs was THE PARENT TRAP, but I had no knowledge of the songwriters. It was MARY POPPINS -- seeing the film a few times on its original release, wearing out the soundtrack LP, and that unique (for its time) "complete musical score" book of the songs -- that brought the Sherman Brothers home for me. And it kills me that I lost track of my own copy of that book years ago. I have another one I found secondhand, but it just ain't the same.
-
DR Elmore, I hope you can get Annabelle in to see someone this morning.
Sounds like a good shot of antibiotics is called for. (Or something. I am not a vet, nor do I imitate one at parties.)
It's too late for this visit, and I know you have vets lined up anyway, but I've asked some cat loving NYC friends for any top-notch vet recommendations they might have, for possible future use.
-
Good morning, all.
-
Good morning to all.
-
I was taken to Mary Poppins at the long gone Westmount Cinema (later the Claremont) when I was 5. Then the soundtrack LP.
-
TOD:
I was 3 when I was taken to Mary Poppis. It changed my life.
I learned all of the songs, which sounds strange to have a kid singing about carving his niche in the edifice of time. The vocabulary expansion was immense. And my sister Annaliese taught me how to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
I wanted an umbrella for Christmas so that I, too, could fly away (same reason I wanted one of those adorable winged monkeys in The Wizard of Oz). I actually got Into an argument with Santa, who wanted to give me a football. I don’t think I ever went back to Santa after that.
-
Full day today. Hours of dancing, then a birthday party for my friend Gail.
-
Latest news in the whirlwind musical life of Yrs Truly: First gig scheduled for 2018 is programming and playing the synth book for a one-week production of a show in which some people enter a forest. Interestingly enough (or not), 'twill be my first time to actually play said show.
It's at a Catholic high school in New Haven. West Haven, actually, if the truth must be known. And it must, it must. Interesting about the schools up here. They're all pretty good venues for short term musical gigs, they have budgets and pay as well as or better than some other organizations, every musician I know has a school or two up his sleeve, and the schools are contracting earlier and earlier each year for the musicians they want to play in their shows. Cutthroat, man. This one's good for me because one of their regular people has a conflict so it gets me in the door in a region that's pretty lucrative and where a lot of good people play.
-
No luck with an appointment today. I will try again tomorrow morning.

Good news DR CHAS SMITH....are you excited and scared?

Sorry DR ELMORE.....vibes for Annabelle that she feels better!

The light just makes the sofa on the right look two colors....it's actually ALL the same....new accent chair is the cement color in the printed pillows..... That's what the color is called....cement....
-
Rain, wind, and thunderstorms here DR GINNY - headed your way.
-
Nice photo, DR JRand67!
-
Cement is a nice color. Keith just got new pants . When I mentioned I liked the color he said it is called mud.
-
I'm up, I'm up - five hours of sleep.
-
I got an eye dropper and got about six drops of water down Annabelle before she really started fighting me. I was hoping to get some of her Fancy Feast gravy down as well, but no dice. She is not happy with me at the moment.
-
She of the Evil Eye is here, getting the lay of the land.
-
Saturday afternoon greetings! Michigan and Wisconsin are tied at halftime - Go, Blue!
-
Rain, wind, and thunderstorms here DR GINNY - headed your way.
The wind is here, DR JRand, and it’s weirdly warm outside. And we’re under a severe thunderstorm watch...
-
Exactly DR GINNY same here.....
-
DR Jrand I just noticed the pillows under the coffee table. Are they for the new accent chair or will that have plain cement color pillows?
-
Great purchases and photo, Jrand!
-
Last nights reaction by Larry Cohen and Richard Sherman is beautiful. Congratulations Bruce.
-
That's what the color is called....cement....
There's a joke in there somewhere, if only I were Ellie Mae Clampett ... and this were Beverly Hills.
-
I'll have to pond-er what that joke might be.

I am not sure which came first Mary Poppins or The New York Worlds Fair where I heard Its a Smal World. And It's a GreatBig Beauriful Tomorrow
-
We had 103 guests at the soup kitchen including about 26 children under the age of 12
-
With seconds we served about 150 meals ...we did not have a scrap left when we closed the doors at 1 ( we opened at 12)
-
Hello, everyone.
-
I'm glad BK was pleased with opening night. Yes, there was a mustache malfunction, which was covered as well as could be, but very few problems as seen through my eyes.
-
I never worry about BK's shows because he knows what he's doing and always gets the job done. But this show I was worried about. We here at HHW hear all about the problems--the actress who dropped out just before rehearsals, the unprepared lighting guy, the problems moving the sets around. We DRs have insight into BK's shows that most of his audiences do not. We're insiders. I can tell you that none of those problems were apparent last night. The sets were moved quietly and effortlessly. The cast all performed well and were very competent. It was a really first-rate production.
-
The music is glorious. As soon as I heard OPPORTUNITY sung by Richard Sherman on the Indiegogo video I found it catchy and it stayed with me. But to hear it sung last night was stunning. The show definitely has a Sherman Bros sound. Great songs. The new song, SO MANY EMPTY ROOMS, which was a collaboration between BK and Richard Sherman, is quite touching and fits perfectly.
-
Marc Ginsburg was stellar. I knew he had a fine voice from the Kritzerland videos Bruce posted some time back. This role requires much more, though. He's on stage for most of the production. His dialogue is all done with an accent, which he held consistently. He sang beautifully and was a joy throughout.
-
I wish I had a CD of the show. I want to keep listening to it!
-
I'd love to see the show again, but I suspect that my dental issues will get in the way.
-
Jack, your new furniture is quite handsome. I have a polo shirt whose color was called "cement." An unattractive name for a color, IMHO. The color itself is just fine; mine is a sort of mushroom or pale pewter. Is that how you would describe yours?
-

If you drop some water on her nose or mouth she'll probably lick it.

I'm pleased you were able to feed so many folks, but saddened that so many children in particular need feeding.

More on last night's show...
Richard Sherman was seated directly behind me. For a microsecond the nonstop wave of folks saying hello to him abated. I turned around and introduced myself as a member of HHW and told him how excited people here are about the show. He thanked me and shook my hand. He's a gracious person and I think he's truly touched by our sentiments.
-
I must take care of a few things here.
A BIG CONGRATS to BK!!
TTFN.
-
Yes DR JEANNE, I agree that pewter is a nice sounding name for the color.
DR JANE we got four small pillows and two large pillows....gray on one side and the print on the other. The two large ones started out under the table, but they are now one on each couch.....
The chair that came with our couches was in the print, which I thought was very nice....but the BOSS didn't like it, so we found the other chair which is very nice. It is from another manufacturer and in fact cost as much as ONE of the couches.....
-
Second nights vibes for MR BK & Co.

DR JRand, I like your Mom’s new living room very much!

I am back from the enchanted Scottish town of BRIGADOON, which may be the very best Encores! production ever. It certainly is the most emotional and stirring production I seen there, with a really committed cast and crew. It was quite something.

No. This is a "special event," not an Encores! production.

DR Chas West Haven is not far from where we lived in Woodbridge. Though I am not sure I was ever there. May this be the first of many jobs in this lucrative area.

Thanks everyone.....I am getting used to it. Change is not my forte.

Well, the old furniture felt like home. The new furniture fits the room size a bit better. It will take getting used to.

I am so glad that LEVI! WENT so well I wish I was able to see it
-
Cold be fine vibes for Elmore and the kids
-
Good evening.
-
I was busy all day, but I didn't feed as many people as Vixmom did. Only about 30.
-
Hello from Fun City!
-
I arrived at about 9 am. It too and hour and a half to get to the city from LaGuardia on the "Airporter" bus. Traffic was unbelievable.
-
I thought I had posted again but it's not showing up. Let me see if I can remember what I wrote...
-
I was undecided about what to see. I walked to City Center to see if they had any tickets for Brigadoon for the matinee. They didn't even have a cancellation line, so I left. I would have liked to have seen you, DR elmore!
-
I was walking near the Winter Garden Theatre and went to the box office to see if there were any "Rush" seat for "School of Rock." I got a "Partial view" seat in Row N for $39. I figured that it had to be worth at least that much. I actually enjoyed it a lot and the seat wasn't bad at all.
-
Later I saw Melissa Errico at 54 Below. She did an all-Sondheim show. Terrific. There were a few songs I wasn't familiar with. "Do I Hear a Waltz" is one of my favorites and Melissa does a great job singing it.
-
Glad you enjoyed Brigadoon so much, DR elmore! I'm really looking forward to seeing it!
-
Congratulations on the great opening night, BK! I can't wait to see "Levi!"
-
Feel better vibes for DR elmore and Annabelle!
-
Nice photo, DR Jrand!
-
The birthday party was nice but long.
-
I’m tired
-
Glad everyone is having nice trips to the theater.
-
Good night, all.
-
'night
I was up most of last night with a migraine. I hope I sleep tonight.
-
Back from our two-show day - the matinee had about fifty people, which is pretty good for a first Saturday matinee and they were a great audience. The projections and moving lights were no-go in the first act but they finally got them working in the second act. The performance itself was excellent. Then a few of us had pizza on the break. Second show was also very good and everything worked until act two, ten minutes in, when the moving lights went out again. This is ALL because the lighting designer programmed to many things into one circuit - he'll be in on Monday to fix this crap once and for all. I'm not sure I'll get to it tonight, but I do have photos now.
-
Good evening.
-
Page 4? Really?

Today was a lovely day, for November.
-
It was
warm mild weather day.
-
One more post.

-
Page 5? Really?
-
Hey, it's a post.
-
Tomorrow it is back to wind and rain.
-
I caught up with my family today for lunch celebrating by niece's birthday.
-
She turned 48 yesterday! How is that possible?
-
I came back home and slept through the Washington Huskies game.
-
And that was my entire Saturday.
-
Your turn, George.
-
After today's new notes went up, I was planning on posting something, but before I got to, I fell asleep with the TV and my bedroom lights on! The sound was on the TV was down, so it didn't wake me. I didn't wake up until my alarm went off at 10:00 am.
-
I needed to get up today because I'm going to be the [temporary(?)/assistant(?)] treasurer for the Olympia chapter of PFLAG and they had a board meeting today. I was officially voted into the position.
-
After the meeting, my sister, niece and I went to our parents' house for our weekly family dinner. We played two games of Phase 10, and I lost both times. Now I'm home and have been for a couple of hours.
-
LEVI sounds like the wonderful show I expected it would be.
-
Hi, George.
-
Hi, Tom.
-
Now, to ketchup on all the posts.

THE PARENT TRAP was first for me, but I had no idea who had written the songs.
