I am back from the enchanted Scottish town of BRIGADOON, which may be the very best Encores! production ever.  It certainly is the most emotional and stirring production I seen there, with a really committed cast and crew.  It was quite something.

Sounds absolutely wonderful.

Well, the old furniture felt like home.  The new furniture fits the room size a bit better.  It will take getting used to.

I was busy all day, but I didn't feed as many people as Vixmom did. Only about 30.

I arrived at about 9 am.  It too and hour and a half to get to the city from LaGuardia on the "Airporter" bus.    Traffic was unbelievable.

I was undecided about what to see.  I walked to City Center to see if they had any tickets for Brigadoon for the matinee.  They didn't even have a cancellation line, so I left.  I would have liked to have seen you, DR elmore!

I was walking near the Winter Garden Theatre and went to the box office to see if there were any "Rush" seat for "School of Rock."  I got a "Partial view" seat in Row N for $39.  I figured that it had to be worth at least that much.  I actually enjoyed it a lot and the seat wasn't bad at all.

Later I saw Melissa Errico at 54 Below.  She did an all-Sondheim show.  Terrific.  There were a few songs I wasn't familiar with.  "Do I Hear a Waltz" is one of my favorites and Melissa does a great job singing it.

Back from our two-show day - the matinee had about fifty people, which is pretty good for a first Saturday matinee and they were a great audience.  The projections and moving lights were no-go in the first act but they finally got them working in the second act.  The performance itself was excellent.  Then a few of us had pizza on the break.  Second show was also very good and everything worked until act two, ten minutes in, when the moving lights went out again.  This is ALL because the lighting designer programmed to many things into one circuit - he'll be in on Monday to fix this crap once and for all.  I'm not sure I'll get to it tonight, but I do have photos now.
