No, I have not been lurking all day and not posting -- I just forgot to log out earlier today and I'm just now checking back.  BK ~ I did my Brain Share at Paypal this afternoon -- so let me know if it didn't come through.

Yes, but do you want to lecture her on the dangers of tanning salons?

I have a friend who goes to the tanning salon at least four times a week - sometimes two or three consecutive days in a row.    ::)

Thanks to DR JULIE and DR JANE for the latest SUNSHINE BOYS congrats!!!  All appreciated.  Our read thru is on Thursday night.

We got our FANTASTICKS rehearsal schedule, which is the written down version of everybody come every night.  Tonight I did Round and Round with El Gallo and Luisa while EVERYONE else in the cast sat around looking very bored.

And about halfway through the number, I began to have doubts about my choreography talent at all.....  Two and one half hours later, it was done....but we are meeting at six tomorrow to spend an hour going over some of the fine points.

This is turning out to be a very frustrating experience for EVERYONE, and I am not sure how it will turn out.

The burning desire to display oneself onstage overcomes rational thinking sometimes.....sometimes for me is this time.

Very exciting, DR Tomovoz. We get hundreds of pigeons around here if we put out seed.

:)  Feeding the pigeons in NYC can practically get you the death penalty.

I have the doors and windows open again right now enjoying the cool night air. This may be the last cool night for awhile, sad to say.

Getting some rest now......and hearing Round and Round in my head.....we also did Soon It's Gonna Rain, which was much easier....and much more pleasant....even though we didn't start until after 9:30 pm....ended and 10:00 pm....all in the same day.

DR Edisaurus - I'm so glad your trip to NY is set and that you'll be able to see the NYMF shows.  I hope to meet you when you're in town.

Yes lovely cool air.

Noel Neill is fun to listen to.....her hair is outrageous, but that's okay.

In the Superman: Serial to Cereal book, she talked about filming four episodes in 10 days....a 13 episode season in 30 days....I think Saturday was a half day.

She said there were times when they would finish up and leave a set and the paint on the walls would still be wet.

Off to bed....round and round....

DR RLP thanks for the Boy Friend suggestion.....it's a nice thought.  I would love to do it.

Oh wait....did you mean the musical?  Oh....nevermind.

DR MATTHEW thanks for keeping us informed....somewhere a window is opening.

I began my evening viewing with the newly remastered Blu-ray disc of THE FIFTH ELEMENT.

When Blu-ray premiered last year, THE FIFTH ELEMENT was one of the first Blu-ray discs, and Sony did such a rush job on it that it received universally bad reviews as a high definition version of one of the best standard DVD transfers that there ever has been. For months, Sony has promised a remastered version of the Blu-ray disc, and also set up a way for those who bought the first one to exchange it for no cost.

I didn't buy the first one after I read the awful reviews, but I bought the new one, and it is perfection. Beautiful color, rock solid sharpness, two high bitrate soundtracks. Just an amazing disc.

The movie has grown on me over the years. I was very lukewarm about it when I saw it in theaters years ago. Having seen it on paycable and then on the Superbit DVD version, I still see the flaws, but find it a very fun ride about 85% of the time. This gorgeous new high def presentation makes the enjoyment that much more palpable.

Edi-On my first trip to NY I stayed at the Wellington.  Because it was freezing there & I arrived limping, they upgraded my room to a suite, nothing fancy but I enjoyed it very much.  I found the area much nicer than my second stay in Times Square.

I lived at the Wellington for a few months 20 years ago when I worked on a film in NY, and have stayed there a few times since, with no complaints.

About 9th Avenue---that neighborhood seems fine to me. Our negative cutter is a block from there so I've walked around there a lot.

Next, I put in the movie of MARY POPPINS. I hadn't watched this in awhile, and I still find it an amazing original musical. I think it is seriously underrated.

Does he answer to goofus?  I've always made up tons of "pet" names for my cat, Bella, and she seemed to choose the ones she liked, and is willing to respond to some of the names, but not others.  Very selective.

Edi - That Friday night will be Last Starfighter's first performance, so if we're crazily rude that night, you'll have to forgive us - it will be nothing personal.  :)

I know! As I said, knowing I would get to see your show was the clincher for me! And don't worry about being "rude", I know you'll be tremendously busy! I love the CD, so it will be great to see it performed!

Then I watched the premiere of DAMAGES. It was commercial free so immediately it had me on its side!

I really found the show excellent. It jumps back and forth in time, but there's no problem discerning which time period we're in at any one point, and there's a really strong cast of character actors. And Close is playing a very sly snake in the grass super-lawyer, the kind of role she relishes and excels with.

Looking forward to following this for the remaining 12 episodes.

BK - Someone on All That Chat posted that  they were writing an article on movies-becoming-musicals, so I responded - in case they were interested in NYMF shows as well - with links about Last Starfighter (as an adaptation of a screenplay for a specific film) and Brain from Planet X (as a send-up of a movie genre).  Hope that was OK to mention Brain from Planet X in that context - I figured anything that gets the name(s) of the show(s) out there is good, since it was on topic of the thread.

Thanks, Julie! I look forward to seeing you, finally meeting singdaw and reconnecting with  Elmore, Jose, Fred, Skip, Ben & Ant.

My partner Peter will also try to go to Starfighter with us.

So do we order our tickets August 1st?
