Going to write for a bit and then head back down for one more TV episode and then hopefully a REAL movie.

I tried to upload a Harry Potter page dance, but I was informed that the upload folder is full.

So, BK, I wanted to inform you of this.

I'm back from a good day in Toyland and GONE BABY GONE, which I liked very much and a bleaker film I haven't seen in some time.  My friend Matthew lived in Dorchester for a while - when I visited him and his girlfriend Myra they lived in Back Bay - and he said the accents were dead on.  The cast was quite wonderful and the mystery quite involved and heartbreaking.  The preview for John Cusack's new film GRACE IS GONE thoroughly pissed me off by providing too, too much information.  Why not simply call the film GRACE IS DEAD? What do these asshole trailer assemblers think?

Can one of our sheet music people e-mail me Meadowlark, preferably from the actual score?  If not, then from a book, I guess.  We have my arrangement from my Schwartz album, but I want to do it as written.

You can get it at AMAZON for $15.

Most retail outlets will not carry it, for obvious reasons.

I picked mine up the Saturdyday before its release at one of those stores like bk knows in NYC and LA, yeah there are a couple of those here in the 'burgh.

It would so seem.

The one-line synopsis on IMDB: Upon hearing his wife was killed in the Iraq war, a father takes his two daughters on a road trip.

You should also have a copy from the Liz Callaway album, I believe.

GRACE IS GONE? She's killed in Iraq, but why tell us in the preview?  It would be much more interesting not to know that detail.

Good Morning!  Good Afternoon!  Good Evening!

Sorry to have been errant and truant up until now, but it appeared that Verizon was doing some work on the lines up in our 'hood this morning.  The signal kept going in and out for a while, and then it was just plain out.  Even the phone lines were down for a bit.  So, that's part of my excuse for not posting until now.  ;)

During my period of non-posting this morning, I decided to do some fridge-cleaning of my own. However, instead of ditching things in the garbage can, I started prepping some things for dinner - and for my lunch.  I placed some sliced carrots and fennel in one dish, and wrapped up some beets (red and golden) in foil - everything sprinkled with olive oil and kosher salt, then put them all in the oven to roast for a while.  I let the beets cool down for a while, but I did end up eating some of the roasted carrots and fennel as my lunch.  -Sometimes simple truly is the best - they were so good.

I also prepped the chicken for tonight's dinner.  A slathered a compound butter under and over the skin, placed some thick-sliced bacon over the breasts, and scattered some lemon wedges and sliced onions in the pan.  -It's currently roasting away in the oven - and, needless to say, the apartment smells quite wonderful right now.

-Now, I'm wondering if I just save the roasted beets for later in the week (well, for tomorrow - they'd make a good salad with some feta cheese and mesclun), and just eat the rest of the carrots and fennel with the chicken.  We shall see.

After prepping my dinner, I headed on down to Baayork's place for the meeting to discuss Thommie Walsh's memorial service.  Well, when I got there, it had turned out that the meeting had been moved back to Noon - and, of course, no one had told me.  However, since the first part of the meeting was more about logistics, it worked out fine.  When I arrived, it was mainly the music staff that was left.  I got to meet the legendary Don Pippin for the first time, as well as Tommy Tune, Ken Lundy, and few other folks.

The meeting time had been changed due to a scheduling conflict that Mr. Tune had, and he actually "apologized" to me for the mix up.  And, I swear, I've met him briefly a few times, and each time I see him I still can't believe he's that tall.  It also turned out that Don Pippin and I have a dear friend in common - whom we've both lost touch with over the past few years - so after talking about him, we also just talked about everything else under the sun.

And in true "Miss Wong" fashion, Baayork had set out a little spread of food and champagne(!) for everyone.  It was all quite good, and after most of the guests had left, there were four of us who tried our best not to finish the rest of the food.  In any case...

Back from seeing the movie adaptation of The Jane Austen Book Club, which was very true to the book and which I liked very much.  One of my book group girlfriends, a retired physician, showed up and I suspect everybody else was involved with family, yard work, or political campaigning.  By the time the movie was over, DH Richard was home from Cincinnati, so I picked up carry-out fried chicken and sides and we've just had a nice dinner together.
