Well, you've read the notes, the notes were both warm and cozy, and now it is time for you to post until the warm and cozy cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: CREPITATE!
-
Happy Black Friday, Everyone!
I have no intentions of going anywhere to shop for anything...not even on-line.
-
Today is a work day - since I am a retail drone....but tomorrow is SHOP SMALL day - so we shall see what we shall see.
-
Good morning, all.
-
TOD:
I am slogging my way through the DVD set of Mr Stanley Kramer......last night I watched THE WILD ONE, which I like very much, as artificial as it is....Mr Marlon Brando is always interesting to watch.....although it's strange seeing Rob Petrie's neighbor and the County Agent from Green Acres as members of the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
-
Crazy day yesterday and I didn't get a chance to check in. Hope all is well with everyone and the day was full of thanks.
-
Is there a new Filichia on Friday for today?
-
Thanks for the Blue Rae news about TITANIC, DR JMK. I think - story wise - it is my favorite version of the story as well, even though it is historically VERY inaccurate....
-
TOD: Some Christmas music for work, I guess. No time for anything else.
-
Sounds like DR BEN is having a good time......and DR GINNY's story and photo gave us a nice Thanksgiving touch.
-
Morning all.
I actually slept late.
I'm thinking I should walk on the treadmill in preparation for beginning to ride the stationary bike again. I feel a bit bloated and my pants are not fitting well anymore. I haven't been riding or eating as well as we used to due to stress at work, dental appointments, etc. I'm determined to go to Minnesota weighing 5 pounds less than I do now. I have until June to do it. I think I will succeed even though it's the beginning of the holiday season.
-
I, too, think the 1953 Clifton Webb, Barbara Stanwyck Titanic is my favorite version.
-
I hope there's a new PF column but it is Thanksgiving weekend so he may have taken the time off.
-
And on that note I'm off to do my breakfast dishes.
I can't walk on the treadmill until the rest of the house awakens which won't be for another hour or more.
-
Friday morning greetings! Out-of-town relatives start arriving today. My nephew and his girfriend from Michigan today, my sister and her husband and their daughter and my cousin tomorrow. This is the run-up to Mom's 93rd birthday, which is Sunday.
-
Oh, the only one staying with us is my cousin - WHEW!
-
Mmmm. Turkey sandwich for breakfast.
-
Sounds good DR LAURA!
Sugarfoot is still moseying along.
-
Off to work. Oh well.
-
Glad to hear Sugarfoot is still doing well.
-
Good Friday to you all. No, not THAT Good Friday. This one.
-
Hi Kerry.
-
Morning all.

Exercise. I need to do, but I haven't found the time recently. Maybe soon.

TOD:
The Big Sleep - 1981 version with Robert Mitchum - on the U.K. ITC label. Not a great film but I recently bought it because I learnt that it contains an audio commentary by director Michael Winner, who is always interesting to listen to. He tells many indiscreet stories about the stars of the film, especially Mitchum
-
Good morning, all! I slept really rate: 9:30 and I blame it completely on the nighttime Tylenol allergy meds I took about 9:30 when I got home last night.
Today, I have lots of work on ROBERTA; I am about halfway throught Act One, and I'd like to finish it all by Monday so it can be scanned for the copyists.
I have no more news, so I'll have some more coffee.
TOD:
DVD: There's something from Netdlix sitting here
CD: the new FOLLIES Cast recording, the EILEEN edits, appalachian folk songs, Guy Haines
VCR: Oy!
-
A Friday that's all about Rebecca Black?
-
Had a biggish breakfast of sausages and egg so just had a lemon muffin and cappuccino for lunch in the coffee shop. The Lithuanian barista seemed to be in a bad mood, so I was careful to say nothing to annoy or upset her!
-
TOD:
GET LOW w/Robert Duvall
I also have the new Special Edition of THE OFFICE, the Ricky Gervais version.
We watched the first episode the other night and. although there were moments where I laughed, I was not "sucked into" the show, as I was with Ricky's EXTRAS.
Perhaps I just have to give it a few more episodes.
BTW: I have never watched the American version of THE OFFICE. Sitcoms are not really my thing.
-
I just finished 3 miles on the treadmill.
I hope that's the beginning of the new regime.
-
Before I leave one more to Page 2 on Black Friday.
-
Sounds like everybody had delicious meals. It is making me so hungry!
Ha, i do have a stuffed frozen butterball turkey in my freezer. But it feeds way too many for me to make today!
-
Richard and I have washed all the Thanksgiving dishes and he's had his traditional day-after breakfast - a turkey and bacon sandwich. Since I'd had toast earlier, I just ate some turkey and bacon. Yum, I love leftovers!
-
Good morning. Guess I've been a little E and T. I arrived at my parents on Wednesday morning and discovered that Phoebe the cat is much sicker than they led me to believe. They said it was just her eye that had a problem, but her balance was clearly off, she was falling down a lot when she tried to walk, her face was swollen, and her eye shut, but when I lifted the lid you could see her eye is fine.
I don't think she was getting all her antibiotics on time.. Anyway, I told them we had to take her to the vet since the antibiotics clearly weren't working. We were able to get in right away (small towns are good for that) and it looks like things may be a lot worse for poor Phoebe than an infection. In fact she doesn't have a temperature and has an appetite, so it probably isn't an infection. To make a long story short, she either has a really bad abcess or a tumor right behind her right eye. It's right where her ear canal and balance center are and where 12 different nerves come it. She's on some other medication until Monday, and if that doesn't work he'll do an x-ray to see how much the bone structure is impacted.
It doesn't look good for poor old Phoebe. She's tiny, skin and bones. I feel so sorry for her. Vibes would really be appreciated
-
Dinner was fabulous. Way too much food, but that's a good thing :)
-
Nothing much else to report. Mom and dad are both having memory problems. Lots and lots of repeating. Dad has a really bad back right now and has to go in for what mom calls "A shot with a really big long needle" on Monday, I'm wondering if it's the same thing TCB got.
-
Better go check on the parents and the cat.....laters...

I noticed late last night the press release is actually from 20th's UK division, but that means a US release is inevitable.
-
Quoth BK yestereve with regard to his evening repast:
And three small roles.
Oooh, oooh, let me guess: Hamlet, Lady Bracknell and Moses? :)
-
The UK division of Fox is also releasing CLEOPATRA on BD next year, so I'm hoping we have a US release soon as well.
-
Stupidest DVD release of the year thus far which could have been great: three of Hitchcock's early silents have been released by Screen Gems (who knew?), in actually pretty decent looking prints, but aye, here's the rub: the stupid idiots have plastered a Screen Gems "bug" on the top right of the image FOR THE ENTIRE RUNNING TIME of all three films (no doubt because they're PD and they want to maintain "ownership" of their product). It really makes me maaaaddd.
-
I have a new favorite showbiz name: Benedict Cumberbatch.
Take that, Farciot Edouard!
-
I have to make a trip to Staples for printer ink and paper. I hope it's not too grisly there.
-
Has this been discussed here - that Ethel Merman, Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne combined to do a campaign song for John Lindsay for NYC mayor in 1965?
For real, no kidding:

I am certainly being lazy today. Lauren and I are playing Words with Friends (Scrabble) on our new iPhones.

From DR Ginny:
My favorite balloon in today's Macy's parade was, of course, Virginia:
Cute :)
From the photos I've seen I agree.
-
From DR George:
I just thought that that was pretty darned funny...even though it ruined a pie.
It is funny. :D

I have a new favorite showbiz name: Benedict Cumberbatch.
Take that, Farciot Edouard!
Great names, both...but the former is the more courageous, I think, since it belongs to an actor. For those unfamiliar with the name, he is the "Sherlock Holmes" in the series that debuted on PBS earlier this year.
Farciot Edouart is a great movie craftsman. Nominated eight times for the Special Effects Oscar, Edouart has the rare honor of winning more Academy Awards than he was nominated for. Among the nine Oscars he won for his work, he won two in competition and was presented with one honorary award as well as six technical awards.
He was a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (A.S.C.).
-
We bit the bullet and went to the 6 hour Fred Meyer (Kroger) sale to get stuff for the needy family we're providing Christmas for. Virtually everything was 50% off, but it still came to several hundred bucks, and we're not done yet. :)
-
Personally, I think Benedict Cumberbatch sounds like a piece of formal men's evening attire. As in, "Darling, have you seen my Benedict Cumberbatch?" :)
-
Aww, poor Phoebe. Vibes to her.
-
And vibes to Mom and Dad Cillaliz.
-
Yes, there's a new Filichia column up - don't know why folks couldn't see it, I see it just fine.
-
I'm up, I've been to the service station to replace a tire and shall now jog.
-
Today is Friday? I thought yesterday was Sunday.
-

Speaking of that film, I wonder if they will reverse that one camera shot for the Blue-Ray that shows the iceberg hitting the wrong side (port) of the ship. Even as a kid that shot bothered me, because I had read all the books and I knew that the starbord side of the ship made contact with the ice.

When we were at the old house and they had subdivided the farm next to us and stuck in all the McMansions (the main reason we moved), when they had their open houses, I used to open my office window and play a looped CD I had of a beeping garbage truck backing up interspersed with horror movie screams. It took them quite some time to sell those houses, and they ended up doing so for several hundred thousand dollars less (each) than they originally asked. My work there was done, and we moved. :)

Since first seeing the name, I thought it sounded a bit like a dish for a fancy brunch...an egg dish with cucumbers" -- "Benedict (a la) Cumberbatch"
-
After listening to the Merman / John Lindsay number, I watched the Barbra, Judy, and Ethel clip. I suppose the whole thing could have been rehearsed, but Barbra seems a little out of the loop during it, and she clearly does not know the words to "THERE'S NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS." Has anyone ever read anything regarding the Ethel Merman appearance?

~~~~~~~~~~~~ Healthy Phoebe Vibes (Bless Her Heart!) ~~~~~~~~~~~~
-
Hello, everyone.
I, too, am in need of exercise. It's a glorious day here, so a walk is in order.
-
I'm glad to see that BK is getting some much-needed R&R.
-
Ron, when do you leave for your mother's house?
-
I was also impressed with Benedict Cumberbatch, though that name is certainly a mouthful. I like both DR JMK and DR Ron's riff on the name.
-
I ate turkey for breakfast, although I had planned on making a tuna sandwich.
-
Health vibes to Phoebe, Cilla's dad, and all and sundry.
-
I really enjoyed the Michael Gambon Maigret, but have not seen the others. Perhaps it's time to revisit Maigret.
-
I started a new (to me) David Liss novel yesterday and was in love by the end of the first paragraph. Then I realized that I'd missed a book, chronologically. I ordered said miss and put down the new Liss. I'd just finished a book by a new author, which had really left me cold, and I was in the mood for some fine writing. The disappointing author has won several awards, but I found the work below par. Sigh.
-
Glad to see that TCB had a good holiday.
-
TTFN.
-
We are about to embark on some errands. Hopefully, the people who were shopping 12 hours ago are home taking naps...
Bye for now!
-
Good Morning! Good Afternoon!
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm sooo happy that "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving" did not give me nightmares.
Back vibes to DR Jose! But don't get us started on you and two beds!
-
Oh...
And speaking of bus rides...
When I was heading to rehearsal on Wednesday night, a man walked into the bus I was on. I actually heard the "thunk". The bus driver stopped, and walked back to check on the man who was on the sidewalk. A shopkeeper also came out to check on them, and he told the bus driver that the man had just decided to cross the street at that time... He had walked into the "middle" of the bus as it was passing by. Once the bus driver got back on the bus to call her dispatcher, I got off and finished walking to rehearsal. -We were just three blocks from LACC. I really hope the man was, is all right.
Thank You, DR TCB. As for me and the two beds, well... I guess I'm slacking off there in that department. ::)
And now...
Off to check out the madness at Target with my brother.
I'm up, I'm up... And I'm sooo happy that "A Very Gaga Thanksgiving" did not give me nightmares.
We watched it by accident for about 30 seconds whilst waiting for the HDMI to change to our movie. She was either sneezing repeatedly or singing a song about a shoe. :)
Back vibes for DR Jose!
We have returned from our errands and the places we visited - Staples, our pitiful mall, and Kroger - were all very quiet.
"pitiful" is a very generous word for it!
We watched one of Betsy's all time favorite movies last night, SNEAKERS, since our niece had never seen it. I was once again impressed by how incredibly well written a film it is. And such a cast!
BACK VIBES FOR DR JOSE!!!!
Last night I told Keith I was too stuffed to swim today and stuck to my decision this morning since I can't really take Sherlock for a hike after swimming. I had an excellent workout at the gym & was very glad I skipped the swim when I looked down at the pool filled with children & parents.
-
I hope your back is ok, Jose!
This morning I went for a walk in the park, and this is what I saw:
Hello all -- I will be back soon -- today was Kyles' wake and tomorrow is his funeral the Vixter and I appreciate the vibes and the prayers - it has been a difficult week
Vibes for all of you - we are grateful to know that you will be here when we are ready to come back and play
-
I've jogged, I've had a salad and a bagel, I've had a cupcake, I've picked up one tiny package and no important envelope, and I'm watching Maigret movies.
-
Good Afternoon!
Well...
My brother dropped me off at Target...
-
I walked around Target...
-
I placed a few CDs and DVDs in my shopping basket...
-
This morning I went for a walk in the park, and this is what I saw:
I don't know if I have ever seen a photo of Sugar before.
-
HUGS & VIBES OF COMFORT FOR DR'S VIXTER & VIXMOM!!
-
And then I walked around until I realized I didn't really need the items in my basket, so I walked back to the various departments and placed the items back on the shelves.
And that was the extent of my Black Friday Shopping.
I will say, the Target I went to was surprisingly calm, and not so crowded. There were bargain hunters in the aisles, and there were lines at the registers, but I guess all the crazy diehard deal hunters had already gone and left. I even noticed some of the specially-priced TVs still on the shelves. ???
-
Oh... I did stop by the grocery store to buy some Arnica, sushi and juice. I guess that could be considered "Black Friday Shopping". ::)
-
Good Evening.
-
Good Evening.
Good Evening, DR Michael S.
Speaking of Target...
The one I was just in happened to have an e-Reader display. They actually had hands-on display models of the Kindles and Nooks. If you're still wanting to make a side-by-side comparison, it might be worth the trip to the store.
Is it a topical treatment?
-
My listening pleasure of the weekend will be:
BART: The Songs of Bart Howard a rare recording that was pulled from the Painted Smiles catalogue. This was not produced by Ben Bagley.
This was one of 4 titles pulled from his catalogue that he did not originally produced.
From what I read a long time ago #1: Bagley did not pay the royalties to them.
One of them: The Grass Harp was re-released by BK on that other label. (The Painted Smiles release also had cuts from LOLA which was release in its entirety by Harbinger.)
Another: Mostly Mercer was re-released by Harbinger.
From what I read a long time ago #2
The other one was a Marshall Barer concept album which was pulled by Barer himself and he did allow anyone else to release it. At that time in his life he became very weird.
I hope you enjoy it more than Bruce did. We enjoyed it very much though his comments do point out the flaws.
Hi Sandra! :)
And it was quite a story, too.
So, here it is, the middle of the night (7 p.m.) and the guy across the street is out on the sidewalk cutting tile with a saw.
Time for that Ethel Merman video.
I accomplished a good deal today. I've got the ROBERTA scores that can be copied numbered and ready to go, and I know which scores I need to construct from the orchestra parts. I've also got the stage band music to score in the next couple of days. We'll see how far I get by Tuesday.
Add me to the list of those who need to exercise.
In the summer i am great. I can exercise 6 days a week. But i hate exercising in the winter. Especially when i am not 100%.
It is too cold to bike. And i don' tfeel 100% to swim. But i have not done anything in over a week. I need exercise!
-
I've been in Maigret land all day and night. Very enjoyable. I've dozed off about six times - I think that's good and it's really all I want to do tomorrow, too, until I go see the play.
-
Ron, when do you leave for your mother's house?
I fly out Dec. 13th.
I'm back from my aunt's house. It was a very low-key visit. Basically, my brother checks in on her and her husband from time to time. This time I joined him. We ended up watching some Filipino TV series that seems to have been based on "Little Orphan Annie", but this one had three orphans - two girls and one boy - on the run after escaping from the orphanage run by the "Miss Hannigan"-type.
We watched SUPER 8 and enjoyed it.
******Anti-twinge in his back vibes for DR Jose******
Thank You, DR Ron Pulliam.
Any chance we'll be able to get together vis-á-vis when I'm in San Francisco a week and a half from now (December 6-8)?
And...
I believe I'm going to watch some TV, and then head to bed.
Goodnight.
Finished watching four (maybe five, can't remember) Maigret movies. Superb viewing. Am now listening to a CD of Laurent Petitgirard's music from the show - fantastic.
Good morning. Guess I've been a little E and T. I arrived at my parents on Wednesday morning and discovered that Phoebe the cat is much sicker than they led me to believe. They said it was just her eye that had a problem, but her balance was clearly off, she was falling down a lot when she tried to walk, her face was swollen, and her eye shut, but when I lifted the lid you could see her eye is fine.
I don't think she was getting all her antibiotics on time.. Anyway, I told them we had to take her to the vet since the antibiotics clearly weren't working. We were able to get in right away (small towns are good for that) and it looks like things may be a lot worse for poor Phoebe than an infection. In fact she doesn't have a temperature and has an appetite, so it probably isn't an infection. To make a long story short, she either has a really bad abcess or a tumor right behind her right eye. It's right where her ear canal and balance center are and where 12 different nerves come it. She's on some other medication until Monday, and if that doesn't work he'll do an x-ray to see how much the bone structure is impacted.
It doesn't look good for poor old Phoebe. She's tiny, skin and bones. I feel so sorry for her. Vibes would really be appreciated
Nothing much else to report. Mom and dad are both having memory problems. Lots and lots of repeating. Dad has a really bad back right now and has to go in for what mom calls "A shot with a really big long needle" on Monday, I'm wondering if it's the same thing TCB got.
Has this been discussed here - that Ethel Merman, Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne combined to do a campaign song for John Lindsay for NYC mayor in 1965?
For real, no kidding:
Well, if Jerry Herman can write "Hello, Lyndon!" :D
And...
If I may...
Could I ask for vibes for my lower back. Alas, I believe all the sitting down in rehearsals, sleeping in two different beds, and dealing with some very herky-jerky bus rides over the past few days has taken it's toll. My back it is a twingein'.
Stupidest DVD release of the year thus far which could have been great: three of Hitchcock's early silents have been released by Screen Gems (who knew?), in actually pretty decent looking prints, but aye, here's the rub: the stupid idiots have plastered a Screen Gems "bug" on the top right of the image FOR THE ENTIRE RUNNING TIME of all three films (no doubt because they're PD and they want to maintain "ownership" of their product). It really makes me maaaaddd.
:o If I bought something that had that, I'd return it! That's terrible! >:(
Today, the family went to my sister's house and had leftovers. Then, we played a game of Planet Earth Monopoly (I came in 3rd of 5). Then I came home. That was my day. :)
