Well, you've read the notes, you've digested the notes, and now it is time for you to post until the digested cows come home.
-
And the word of the day is: ARTIODACTYL!
-
Yay! First post!!
-
Boo! Can't sleep!!
-
Good morning!
-
Good Morning.
I'm at the office. The Mott Foundation and the Kresge Foundation await.
Anyone remember
S. S. Kresge Company(Sebastian Spering Kresge) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S._S._Kresge)?
The corporation changed the name to K-Mart in the 70s
I remember them as well as Woolworth's (with the lunch counter). We never had a McCrory's near us but as I toured around with various shows I saw McCrory's. Now they are all gone. Memories of another time.
-
Good morning, all! DR Ben, my Aunt Dorothy, my mother's oldest sister, worked at the notions counter of Kresge's from around 1940-1951. I have memories of her standing behind rows of colored spools of thread and other sewing items.
This morning the alarm went off at 6:30, and by 7 all my laundry was in the washers. Everything's now in the dryers. When it's finished, I will get ready for another session with Joshie, Rob, and Greg the intern at Encores! I think today I am making cuts in the band parts. I will only be there around four hours today. On my way downtown I need to stop at the School of Ethical Culture and fill out a W-2 form.
-
Good morning. It is still dark and we are expecting rain.
-
We're all in our places with bright shiny faces! :)
-
I remember Kresge's......but we didn't go there too often. I don't think I have been in a K-Mart for about 20 years or so.
-
It is very cold today. And tomorrow I have to work.
-
There was an S.S.Kresge in one of our local malls when I was a youngen, but I can't recall which. I know there was a McCrory's on Market Street in Philly. But as far as I remember, I was never in either of them.
-
I remember being very excited about the opening of an S.Klein's. They had cleared out a large wooded tract behind the Cherry Hill Mall to build a new shopping area with S.Klein as the major anchor. My mom loved shopping there but I ultimately found it a disappointment with a pretty dull toy department. The only interesting thing about it in my mind was that they always seemed to have the latest in Hot Wheels cars and accessories.
-
BK,
I assume that THE CHALK GARDEN is from that Universal/Amazon "Vault" series.
How was the quality of the transfer, etc., as compared to what WHV is doing?
-
re: classmates.com forcing you to keep a membership for another year
Classmates is giving me a 50% discount and my card company is going to eat the balance.
Well that works out for you and you will still get the service?
Personally I would have kept at classmates until they cancelled the membership. It's not right that they trick you into a membership.
-
Last night DR MattH wrote re: there being no regular female cast members on HUMAN TARGET:
I can see no potential upside to their having a female agent working alongside Mark Valley's "human target."
Actually I agree with this, and that is not what i meant.
What i meant was a) i find it odd that there are only 3 regular cast members.
b) i don't like that there are no female regular cast members.
I think that shows need the balance.
Chi McBride could have a wife. The team could have a female secretary ... I don't think they would need to have her as an agent. Anyway it's just my 2 cents.
-
DR Cillaliz that is terrible news about your friend. Vibes to you and the family. ~~~~~~~~~~
-
Wednesday morning greetings! It's cold and sunny here in SW Ohio. How do I know it's cold? Well, the nurse who arrived at 8am took my blood pressure with a cuff that had been in her car over night and it was freezing! She also drew blood, which will be tested to determine whether or not we need to continue the shots - vibes for 2+, please!
My doctor told me last night that I'm allowed to stand long enough to take a shower, so that's my big agenda item for today.
-
DR Cillaliz - condolences to your friend's family. I often find it difficult when we lose people we know, but not well enough to be intimately involved in the grieving. {{{Hugs}}} to you, too.
-
I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, DR Jennifer. Not every show needs a balance in their regular cast (though if the show continues to do well, the regular cast can always be expanded). I LIKE that the show is different in that regard. The less cookie cutter plotting and casting, the better.
-
Good morning!
Much colder here this morning. I didn't wear a heavy enough jacket or the right kind of cap (my ears got a bit cold). I didn't know it at the time, but it was 25, so I should have bundled up more. I won't make that mistake tomorrow morning. (Of course, by the end of the walk, I was warm from the effort.)
-
I saw THE CHALK GARDEN during its original theatrical run. And never since. I'd love to see it again.
-
I heard no UPS truck stop at the front door, so it looks like I'll be JAGging again today. The show really is well done, and the cases (when they go to court) are always compelling. The sides to the arguments aren't always so clear cut, and one is never quite sure how the members are going to vote on the court martials or inquiries.
-
Because of the State of the Union Address, most networks are opting for reruns in the 8 p.m. hour (except for IDOL's endless auditions, of course). ABC has scheduled MODERN FAMILY and THE MIDDLE for that hour, but I don't believe they are new episodes.
-
PSYCH, of course, is a new episode and returns tonight to finish out its current season now on Wednesday nights at 10 on USA.
LEVERAGE continues its run at 10 p.m. on TNT.
-
I have such a collection of stuff to watch on the DVR. DAMAGES, THE OFFICE (from last week), BETTER OFF TED (which has the handsome and appealing Eddie McClintock as a guest star), WHITE COLLAR, NCIS: LA.
I'm just not sure what I'll pick when I start eating lunch.
-
2+ vibes for DR GINNY.
-
I am down 2 waist sizes in trousers.....onward and upward!
-
There was a Kresge store, with a snack bar, on the corner of State St. and North University Blvd. in Ann Arbor when I was an undergraduate/graduate student at the University of Michigan. I'd often go there for coffee between classes and I remember buying blue books there for exams (they were cheaper than in the bookstores). That building has become Michigan Book and Supply and there's a Starbucks across the street where I'd probably hang out now.
-
Thanks, DR JRand, and congratulations!
-
Thanks DR GINNY....it's a struggle of course....but many HHW'ers have been through it.
-
Congratulations, JRand!
-
Page Two Shakespeare Laptop Dance. ;D
-
Thanks DR LAURA.
-
Good Morning!
I'm up, I'm up... And I really think I'm going to go back to bed for another hour or two.
-
Oh, yes, CHarlotte had Woolworth, Grant, and Kress stores, all with fabulous candy counters and sit down lunch counters. Once K-Mart came along, the Kress stores closed uptown. After K-Mart came Woolco, and Woolworth stores closed (and so eventually did Woolco; I bought several lamps for my house that I still use from the closeouts at Woolco all those years ago).
-
Thanks DR GINNY....it's a struggle of course....but many HHW'ers have been through it.
That's really great news! Keep it up!
It's depressing, however, to know that it's a lifelong struggle for us now. Or for me anyway. There will never be a time (in the foreseeable future) where I can NOT think about calorie intake and how much that means in terms of gaining or losing weight.
-
THE UPS truck pulled right alongside my house, but the driver got out on the opposite side of the truck and took packages to the condo complex across the street. He didn't come to my front door.
Of course, there is always an afternoon run as well and something may still arrive. Naturally, now that I've begun JAG, I'd just as soon finish it and not have to lay it aside to work on WHIP IT or anything else.
-
I guess I need to finish up my morning computer stuff and head down to check the mail, think about what's for lunch, and then get ready for the rest of the day.
WBBL.
-
DR JRand - Congratulations on your continuing reduction!!

~~~~~+2 VIBES FOR DR GINNY~~~~~
I believe my very first credit card was another vestige of a bygone retail age, MONTGOMERY WARD. I still have some of the furniture I bought from Monty's, it's held up very, very well.
-
Oh....
And our washer/dryer is now working again... Thanks to the repairman who showed up at 10:00am... After calling at 8:00am to say he had the part... And that's why I think I'm going to go back to bed for a bit... I also started to feel a bit sniffly last night as I was getting ready for bed, so... We shall see... blah-blah-blah...
-
I believe my very first credit card was another vestige of a bygone retail age, MONTGOMERY WARD. I still have some of the furniture I bought from Monty's, it's held up very, very well.
My parents called it Monkey Wards (though I don't remotely know why). I remember them very well. They had a big presence in Minnesota, along with Dayton's and Target.
-
Internet seems reliable today. I'll try to catch up on yesterday forthwith.
-
Great going, Jrand.
-
Congrats to JR!
-
Wonderful news, DR JRand. And enjoy that shower, DR Ginny.
I could use one to open my eyes more fully this morning. Allergens in the air here in Texas has made breathing unbearable, so I took a Zyrtec-D last night. I slept, but it was like an acid trip. The dreams vivid. Woke up after breaking out in a sweat a couple of times. Not doing that again unless I really cannot breathe. Hopefully, the rest of the day will be much better.
-
Currently Peggy Lee is singing Manana
-
I remember McCrory's and Woolworth's, although, I don't think I ever sat down at their lunch counters for anything to eat. When we lived in Gales Ferry, CT, we also had Caldor and Vality. Vality - which I think stood for "Value and Quality" - was sort of a predecessor of Wal-Mart: groceries, clothes, housewares, electronics, etc., all under one roof. I remember spending lots of time browsing their record bins. I bought the 2-LP set of "Saturday Night Fever" there. Vality's was also part of our post-church routine on Sundays which would also include a stop at Spiro's for pizza.
And then there was Zayre's in northern Virginia, which eventually became and Ames... And now it's a Gold's Gym.
-
Thanks for the good thoughts from all the DR's! Positive reinforcement is a plus!
Elvis Presley called Montgomery Ward's "Monkey Wards" in the movie Loving You.....he said that's where he bought his new shirt...LOL.
DR JMK....what kind of furniture have you had for that long? A chair or a table?
-
Never heard of Vality.....but we did have a BIG Zayre's store......and of course both Zayre's and Ames are long gone....along with Woolco.
-
~~~~~+2 VIBES FOR DR GINNY~~~~~
Thanks, DR Jose - hope your sniffles aren't anything serious!

DR John G - Zyrtec-D has/had the same effect on me! I remember dealing with a particularly bad allergy attack a couple of years ago, and since "the allergy medication who's name I can't remember right now, but it worked wonders for me" had recently been banned/discontinued, I took a Zyrtec-D before going to bed. It had to be the most restless and scary(!) night of sleep I've ever had. After eventually getting a few hours of sleep, I went straight to Patient Care to get checked out. -And that's when I found out that I should avoid certain types of decongestants - not good for my brain, not good for my heart and blood pressure.
-
... And enjoy that shower, DR Ginny.
...
I certainly did, DR John G - vibes to you for not needing allergy meds anymore!

DR JMK....what kind of furniture have you had for that long? A chair or a table?
Those two big fluffy chairs that were in our listing photos are Ward items. And I only just sold my original kitchen table when we did the remodel here a couple of years ago. I did sell a queen sleeper couch I had gotten several years ago, but it still looked great when I did.
-
Never heard of Vality.....but we did have a BIG Zayre's store......and of course both Zayre's and Ames are long gone....along with Woolco.
From what I've been able to track down on the interwebs, Vality was a one-off. And, yes, most Zayre's stores were BIG.
-
Sorry I didn't mention The Chalk Garden transfer. It's apparently the only film in this batch in a 1.85 ratio that isn't enhanced for widescreen TVs - a shame. The transfer itself is very nice, with good color and it is letterboxed, but should have been enhanced.
-
I'm up, and as soon as I have my wits about me, I'll start reading what I wrote yesterday.
-
And I still remember that "Montgomery Ward Smell" - a.k.a. the smell of warm nuts and popcorn from the candy counter. Some Sears stores used to that same smell. ;)
-
~~~~~+2 VIBES FOR DR GINNY~~~~~
Thanks, DR Jose - hope your sniffles aren't anything serious!
Thanks, DR Ginny. I think the sniffles were of the "You Should Have Been In Bed An Hour Ago" type. But I still think a nap is probably in my not-so-distant future.
Happy Birthday Troy Donahue.
My question for ASK BK day.
Did you ever meet Mr Donahue.....what is your favorite movie or television performance of his..... ;D
-
Allergy Be Gone vibes for DR JOHN G
I never met Troy, but always enjoyed him. I like him in almost everything, but he's very good in that tobacco movie - can't remember the title now. I think it was tobacco.
-
PARRISH.....the first time I knew that Connecticut was a BIG tobacco state.
It also starred the friend of DR DRUXY....Miss Diane McBain......part of the Warner Bros. Romance Collection, if you don't have the DVD!
I have that set.
-
DR Jrand is reducing...but don't go too far or you will be like Grant Williams, holding onto a pencil in a flooded basement.
-
We had Woolworth's and Newberry's in downtown Medford, when I was a kid. I can remember having a banana split with mom at the Newberry's counter. Then at some point Newberry's moved to the Medford Shopping Center, must have been around 1970 or so.
My sister worked the candy counter at Sear's around 1969.
And...
terrible news, DR JOSE.
Zach just walked into the scene on AMC.....his first scene is with the late James Mitchell....filmed in December before the show moved to LA. More today, I'm sure.
Watch AMC.
Well he does have a nice soap character name: Chase Archibald.
FJL, we all like our internet to work, plus if yours is on the blink we will miss your presence here. In a way those vibes are for all of us.:)
My particular favorite stores as a youngen were Korvettes (if I had money or had a sense that I could shake down Mom and Dad for something pricey) and Two Guys (always had something that was in my three dollar limit price range.)
Thanks DR DtM and DR JANE....
Back from Encores! And now I have to figure out what I'm taking to DC tomorrow morning.
DR MattH, the boys are on ONE LIFE TO LIVE today. We have two baby stories going on now, one a question of paternity and the other plans by a demented cult leader for a grandchild, and I'm quite hooked into the stories. I love Dorian's Nancy Drew drag.
Thanks, DR Jane!
I am assigned to Naxos for Blu-ray releases. They really have an interesting assortment of products.
DR GINNY is the lucky one!
-
Have to do something to keep myself entertained these days, DR JRand!
-
What was the specialty of the TWO GUYS stores....clothes or electronics or toys or what?
TWO GUYS was a general department store that sold everything. Not quite as klassy as Korvettes but better than a Grants or J.M. Fields(though I do remember the place looking pretty shoddy during the summer months.)
Montgomery Ward. Haven't thought about that name in years. We never had a store here, but I saw their catalogs all the time.
-
Zayre's. Yep, we had those here. I used to buy Nancy Drew mysteries there for less than $1 each.
-
But the first of those huge department stores here, even predating K-Mart, was Atlantic Mills. I bought the soundtrack LP to GYPSY there. It was my first ever purchase at one of those big stores.
I read this last night, and while I was disappointed, I can't say I was surprised. If they had wanted him back, he would have been in the season finale episode brought back into the new firm (which was impossible since it was the big shot with their major client that got him fired in the first place).
-
So very tiresome.
-
Back from Encores! And now I have to figure out what I'm taking to DC tomorrow morning.
Thanks, DR ELmore. I didn't have a chance to get to the soaps today. Maybe tonight before I close up shop. I want to make a major push to get as many JAG episodes watched today as I can.
-
I did get DAMAGES watched today while I ate lunch. The season premiere was played without commercial interruptions (great idea!), and the show played great because of that. The story moves back and forth in time (like the previous two seasons), so not being interrupted helped keep those two time frames - present day and six months into the future - much more easily defined.
-
Did anyone have a G.E.X. store in their area? It was another mid-level department store that required memberships through unions or government employment. My family made one shopping trip there (though a borrowed membership card) and I was again unimpressed (though 100% of my impressions of any store was solely based on the size of its toy department.)
-
I happened onto TEXAS CARNIVAL on TCM-HD right before I started working for the afternoon.
Wow, did that Technicolor ever look out of this world! Just eye-popping and gorgeous. If I had had time, I would have watched the whole thing even though it's a pretty mediocre Esther Williams musical.
No, I've never heard of that store.
Michael Rooker was the guest star in the last episode I watched, a kind of Colonel Kurtz from HEART OF DARKNESS style of rogue Marine out to find Ben-Laden. Interesting story.
-
Page Five Dance!!!
-
No UPS deliveries today either, so looks like WHIP IT won't be arriving until at least tomorrow. I'll have to decide then if I want to put off finishing JAG or if I want to make WHIP IT wait another day to be dealt with. It's already past due date.
-
Now I'm in the mood to shop so I think I'll hit Target on the way home tonight.
-
I just read that the cast and crew of UGLY BETTY were informed this morning that the show will be ending its run in April at the end of the 20th episode of the season. They have four more episodes to produce, and that will be the end of the show.
Very sad but not a surprise given the very lackluster ratings the show has generated this year in its two (terrible) timeslots.
-
Well, I sped through my afternoon internet surf so I could get back down and watch more JAG. I hope I have time to squeeze in WHITE COLLAR from last night as well as skimming through today's soaps, but that will depend completely on how many episodes I can get watched by 9 p.m. Then I'll use my last hour doing what seems the best plan for getting things watched/cleared off the DVR.
I am glad that i decided to watch all of the 2 hour finale of LOST.
I realized that there was so much i did not remember since it was 8 months ago. Also I was so glad that they included those little green blurbs at the bottom of the screen. I find those extremely interesting and informative.
We had Zayre's and they were open 24/7 which was always nice on Christmas eve for that last minute shopping!
I have to vacuum and pack. I'll be up at 5 am, to make the 7:05 train to DC.
I hope this trip goes well; I have a ton of songs and cello pieces by Victor Herbert to photocopy, and I'm hoping there's not a great deal of hostility provoked by last week's resignation. I expect there will be some, but I hope it's minimal. I usually have a good time at the Library but who knows?
-
My appointment with the gastroenterologist is tomorrow.
Ugh!
:(
The appointment should be easy, save the ugh till you know what tests are ordered.
GOOD LUCK & VIBES!!
I survived PT on fewer meds and took a nice walk at a good pace without my sling :)
-
That's great news, Jane.
-
Good Evening!
I had a good walk too. It's cold, but not too cold outside right now.
I am glad that i decided to watch all of the 2 hour finale of LOST.
I realized that there was so much i did not remember since it was 8 months ago. Also I was so glad that they included those little green blurbs at the bottom of the screen. I find those extremely interesting and informative.
Ditto and DITTO!!
-
Now, THAT'S progress, DR Jane!
-
I was very busy accomplishing very little today.
-
Me, too, DR Laura ::)
-
LAURA, JOSE & GINNY, THANK YOU :) I'm very pleased. of course during the activities i wanted my "crutches" back. to use up the little extra slice of pain med i'll take the same amount on friday before reducing it again next week.
-
Me three, DR Laura!
-
Tiiiiiired. I've done about twelve pages, and will do at least two more later tonight, just to finish the little section I'm on - when that's done, it's on to the 80s and the final third of the book.
-
Hello, everyone.
A BIG CONGRATS to JRAND on his weight loss!! Care to tell us what you're doing right?
BIG VIBES to GINNY for better numbers and more comfort and convenience.
ANOTHER BIG CONGRATS to JANE on her fine progress!
I am still shopping for furniture and housewares. There were two boxes in the kitchen of housewares that I had somehow overlooked. They proved to contain lots of glasses. A LOT of planning went into this move, but I find myself puzzled at times over what I shipped out. More than once I've said, "Why'd I bring all this crap?" I'm sure I had my reasons. ;)
-
2+ VIBES foir Ginny for tomorrow - you are in my prayers
-
I think I'm too old to be living without furniture. In the past I didn't think anything of it. Oh, well.
-
Hello, Debra!
-
Congrats on the improvement Jane! Vibes for Continued recovery!!
-
Time for me to leave work (early). Theater Artists Olympia (TAO), who will be producing The Brain From Planet X in three months is having a play-reading meeting and I'd like to attend it. We'll see what is proposed for next year or the year after. :)
Until later!
You torture me!
I really wanted to make it down there for a cup. I did have a cup at Magnolia but it was NOT the same!
-
Congratulation JRand! Will we get to see before and after photos?
What part of town are you settling in, Jeanne?
-
Hi, Deb!
-
thank you jeanne & vixmom. one day i may even be able to type with two hands again, tie my shoe laces & drive. i have so much to look forward to ;)
-
I remember Grants, McCrory's, Woolworths...
JMK's Montgomery Wards catalog made me think of my favorite lamps (which I stillhave thirty years later) which were from the Speigel Catalog...is that still around?
-
must catch up on tehpast few days
-
I started walkin' the 'hood the other day. It always amazes me how much more one discovers on foot than in a car. I learned that there's an Indian eatery, two Mexican jernts, two Chinese restaurants, and one pastry shop within walking distance. I thought of JOSE immediately, of course, when I spotted the pastry shop. And, depending on what you call walkable, DF&H's favorite Mexican restaurant, too.
VIBES for a SAFE and NON-ACRIMONIOUS Trip for Dear Elmore
Hi, Amy. I'm in West LA now and glad to be back here. It's very central for me.
Gotta scoot.
Thanks for the vibes, DRs Jeanne and Vixmom!
Hi, Amy. I'm in West LA now and glad to be back here. It's very central for me.
We'll be near you for the next few days, a block or two from the Wilshire Ebell.
-
I am so sorry about your friend, Cilla.
-
Congrats to Ginny & George on your respective millstones
-
That is sad about Zelda Rubenstein. I enjoyed her in the first two POLTERGEIST films.
There is also going to be a one hour clip show next Tuesday leading into the two hour season premiere. I won't be watching that clip show either. After reviewing all five seasons on Blu-ray during the past two years (plus watching all five seasons of the show during first run and quite a few repeats), I think I'm well versed on everything they've shown us thus far.
-
With concentrated viewing, I managed to get through episode 19 tonight. That leaves three remaining episodes to watch tomorrow which should make for an easy day.
-
A lot of the episodes during the final season (2004-2005) have taken place in Iraq or Afghanistan when the war was at its height, so I'm not surprised they've drawn a lot of story material from the situations there.
-
I noticed that there was one bonus feature on the last disc, so I skipped ahead to it and watched the featurette called "The Final Goodbye." I was hoping to a tribute to the series, to the many fine actors who played regulars and guest stars on the show.
Instead it was 2 1/4 minutes of David James Elliott saying thanks to the cast and crew at the wrap party. One of the producers also trying saying thanks and got all choked up. But it was a bare minimum little vignette for the show, and I was disappointed.
-
I then skimmed through today's ONE LIFE TO LIVE. Yep, the boys were on and wonderful as always, together and apart.
The baby is going to change SO many things.
-
I skimmed through AS THE WORLD TURNS, but there was nothing of interest there and nothing in the previews for tomorrow.
-
When do you head West again, DR edisaurus?
-
And no late UPS delivery either, so I made up my mind with only three episodes left that I will finish JAG tomorrow even if WHIP IT arrives (as I fully expect it to do). One day later to get reviewed will just have to do.
-
DR Jeanne - Well, you could have also thought of me when you came across the Indian, Mexican and Chinese restaurants. ;)
-
I saw that it going to dipping down into very cold weather again this weekend and that there is even a chance we may have snow on Saturday.
-
Oh I have a dream for JRand's interpretation -
I was at an auction - the autioneer was selling an old clock and the bidding between Dame Julie Andrews and HRH Queen Elizabeth II was fierce.
When Julie shouted out 10,000.00 she gave the autioneer a sly look and he very quickly shouted," Going , going, gone - SOLD!!"
I could see from where I sat that the autioneer had aready completed the billof sale with the purtchase price and Dame Jiulie's name as the purchaser before the bidding was over
Liz was NOT amused - she got up and stormed out, along with her large entourage. I asked Julie, "Aren't you afriad of offending the Queen? It seems she was quite upset."
"Oh HER!", said Julie dismissively , "She wants every clock in the kingdom - she has a million of them and this particular clock will mean a great deal to a special friend of mine; it belonged to his great grandfather."
and then I woke up
-
I enjoyed Emma on Masterpiece Theatre (I don't care what they call it - it will always be Masterpiece Theatre in this house)
I am not too happy with the way Big Love is going however - the second wife is definitely getting on my nerves
-
A great grandfather clock, hmm?
-
The internet is antsy today. Been going on and off, slow and fast, apparently a problem in our area in general.
-
I don't watch BIG LOVE, but because there is a gay storyline getting some important play this season, I've been skimming through the episode to look at those scenes. Very interesting view from the closets of these two men.
I musat admit, I am finding that storyline very interesting
OH! I suppose so!
-
Guess I need to write up some of what I watched today and then head downstairs to bed.
Good night!
DR Cillaliz - condolences to your friend's family. I often find it difficult when we lose people we know, but not well enough to be intimately involved in the grieving. {{{Hugs}}} to you, too.
Thanks Ginny, I'm wrestling with that for both Jack and Candace. I found out today that Candace was the family breadwinner. I knew her husband didn't have a solid restaurant gig anymore (he's a chef),. He does have a radio show, but it's on local public radio. The visitation is Friday after work and the funeral is Saturday. I will definitely go to one or the other or maybe both. I think what's hardest about this one is she was one of those people who is so alive and friendly.
She was extremely supportive of my decision to leave the Federal P.D. that's about the same time she was going back for her masters in social work. We had a very good conversation right in the middle of Sam's Club one day. It was sort of strange, in a way, we weren't close at all but both stopped and had a very personal conversation on both sides about career changes and how frightening and exciting it was. We had casual conversation after that, but never like that one conversation when we ran into each other at Sam's.
-
Went and got a BLT and some sweet potato fries, as I only had a salad earlier.
-
I am down 2 waist sizes in trousers.....onward and upward!
CONGRATS!!!!!!
Happy Birthday Troy Donahue.
My question for ASK BK day.
Did you ever meet Mr Donahue.....what is your favorite movie or television performance of his..... ;D
If Troy Donahue could be a movie star, then I could be a movie star
-
If Troy Donahue could be a movie star...
Ok, you beat me to the punch
-
Thanks for the vibes and hugs.
On a happier note, I'm busy preparing for our ribbon cutting and open house at the office on Tuesday. I have absolutely no idea how many will be there. It's on the chamber of commerce newsletter and I don't know how many people attend because of that. I sent out a ton of email invitations. The weather is supposed to be good, so who knows.
I ordered premade sandwiches on cocktail buns. No butter so they won't get yucky. I also ordered a cake. I noticed there was a big sale on chips and pop today so I got that. I'll make a big vege tray (MUCH cheaper than premade) I also got some chex mix and I think that should do it. The invite says "light munchies" but it's 4:30 - 6:00 so I'm including at least a little sandwich. I am not including wine...people stay too long when you serve alcohol, lol.
My friend Gretchen is planning to come down and spend the night. My parents aren't coming because it's in the evening and winter and they don't drive at night. (a 2 hour drive) They really want to come and sent me money to buy a plant for the office and put their name on it. I thought that was nice. I explained to them that I didn't have a lot of choice in the time if I wanted it to coincide with the ribbon cutting and to be at a time when people who work could attend. I didn't expect them to come. I realized yesterday that I really didn't expect anyone to come and now I'm realizing that there's a potential for a really big crowd, lol. That means I have a lot to do this weekend to do the finishing touches and clean the house for my overnight guest.
-
Candace is on the left. She was always so happy (they were catering a party at the art center)
-
Ok, time to go
-
Me too, actually. I really do need a full eight hours of sleep tonight.
Goodnight.
-
I'm done for the evening. Wrote about eighteen pages and am in the 1980s.
-
Ok, time to go
Me too, actually
Night all.
VIBES, VIBES, VIBES, AND HAPPY THURSDAY. ;D
