Ooh, hearing MattH mention Target makes me want to visit one while I'm in California.  The one by us is always crowded and way understocked.

Today is Ray Harryhausen's birthday!  He's 86 years old!

It really is my favorite of the mass merchandise places.

For some reason, I keep losing track of what day of the week it is today.  This after being off work for almost six weeks.

And how is Jason and when oh when will he be returning to us?  He has been missed

He has reportedly been fine...and hasn't missed us at all.

Don't lose any sleep over it.

Thank you, all, for the kind thoughts!  He seems happily ensconced on my brother's humongous front porch, a huge dog at his feet, and his family hanging around.  Tomorrow his home nursing aide shows up, and I hope it will be a quiet day for him.

I've been playing the demo for THE HORRIBLE AND TRAGIC LIFE OF THE SINGING NUN over and over, laughing myself silly at its collision of THE VALEY OF THE DOLLS, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, THE FLYING NUN, NURSE BETTY, and the actual life of Sister Smile.  I hope I can do this production in October.  This will be the first of two exciting things in the autumn for me.  More to follow on the other . . .

Today is the 12th anniversary of my mother's death.  Several days later, my dear friend BK and I met with Sally Mayes about doing the Comden & Green album.

elmore, you'll have all your music next week sometime.

The phone has not stopped ringing since I got home.

Mr. Air Condtioner Man can't come until tomorrow, so Mr. Handy Man is coming in a couple of hours to try and fix it himself.  I'm sure it's minor, since it was working fine last night, and the motor is definitely working.  Just coolant (or whatever they use) and maybe a change of filters.

A young boy had just gotten his driving permit. He asked his father, who was a minister, if they could discuss the use of the car. His father took him to his study and said to him, "I'll make a deal with you. You bring your grades up, study your Bible a little and get your hair cut and we'll talk about it." After about a month the boy came back and again asked his father if they could discuss use of the car. They again went to the father's study where his father said, "Son, I've been real proud of you. You have brought your grades up, you've studied your Bible diligently, but you didn't get your hair cut!"

The young man waited a moment and replied, "You know Dad, I've been thinking about that. Samson had long hair, Moses had long hair, Noah had long hair, and even Jesus had long hair...."

To which his father replied, "Yes, and they walked everywhere they went!"

Cool beans.  Beans are cool but I'm broiling.  All I have to say is Tora Tora Tora.  Hopefully, Mr. Handy Man will come soon and be able to fix whatever the problem is.

Ouch, I don't know that that's the case.  I remember that around the time he left he was dealing with multiple stressful issues in his life.  I have a vague idea of some of the things he was coping with and am not surprised that he needs some time and space to deal.  I wish him well and hope that he will someday come back.

Yikes, the rates at the Hilton Hotel in Vancouver, WA just went up by $20 a night since I had looked this morning.  So we decided to book Skip's hotel stay there before the price goes up and up, and it's fully cancellable up to a day before anyway.

He's gotten to bring home some of his classwork.  I'd give them all an A+.

Today's goodies were tuna steak and vegetables.  I don't normally like vegetables that much, but these were great!

I'm not one for roast chicken normally, either.  But he made it tonight, cut a certain way they taught him, and it was really excellent.
